Hi everyone,
I have most of the doll clothes I still intend to sell, packed into one tub and set aside for now… I’ll get back to that, but first let’s get a dress made or something else… Actually, it will be the “something else” first off… because I got a new doll. Well, actually a used doll, and mostly for her feet… you’ll see tomorrow… you better come back and see what I’m talking about. :o)
Right when I was getting things in order and pictures taken for the online American Girl yard sale, Charlotte sent me some pictures and they got pushed to the bottom of my emails… oops! But today they will be seen… and I can truly say, “In all of their Glory!” You’ll see what I mean when you see them…
Thanks for sending them along, Charlotte… and sorry I’m so late getting them on here…
She sent this email along with her 2 pictures of Gigi in the 4th of July she won from me…
Hi Jeanne,
Here at long last are a couple of pictures of Gigi modeling her new 4th of July outfit!! In the first one, she is wearing the scarf as she did to our town’s “3rd of July” fireworks last night (it was cool–she had a sweater, too!), and is practicing waving her flag. In the second one, she models her pretty hat, which will help protect her from the sun when she goes to the parade! Her pals are from my collection of Annalee figures–two patriotic elves, and the little mouse in a hat ornament, complete with “fireworks”!
Thanks Charlotte… I never tire of seeing my doll creations on someone else’s doll bringing them joy! That’s what I love about sewing… I get to make something that makes others smile!
Well, come back tomorrow and see my new dolly…
Blessings, Jeanne
Jeanne, you got a new doll……………for her feet??? You sure do have some explaining to do!! We will be waiting impatiently to see what that is all about!
Charlotte, your Gigi looks adorable! Is she also a Ten Ping doll? I don’t recall what or who she is, but I hear about her often! That outfit certainly does fit her well, and she must have been the best dressed little girl in that 4th of July fireworks show!
What a pretty scarf you have her standing on. Did you make that?
Thanks, Linda. Yes, Gigi is one of Ten Ping’s “kindergarten friends”, as they were called when they came out. There were four in all (don’t remember the other two names), but when I looked at the Ruby Red Galleria site, it seems the class has grown, as there were several other little girls! They all have the same body as Ten Ping, just different faces and hair.
Well, that is a curious hint, Jeanne! I’m assuming you have more shoe cobbling in the works, if you got a doll for her feet!!
Thanks for sharing my pictures. Gigi is still standing there, waving her flag, with her Annalee friends, although I will soon have to pack her up and put out something else in that space. I like to put little fun decorations there from time to time. It’s actually the top of our video cassette cabinet (and yes, we have enough movies for it to be full, plus have others elsewhere, plus a lot of DVDs now, too. Old movies are a hobby of ours, particularly musicals).
Joy, your comment yesterday about swimsuits like we wore in the 50s, with ruffles, etc., really hit me, as that’s what I wore, too!! And they were mostly cotton fabrics, but with rows of elastic shirring across the back, as I recall, because the nylon/Lycra swim fabrics were not yet widely available at the time.
Kathie, I have that #4 Girl of Today doll, and she is just BEAUTIFUL!! Because my friends saw mine, three of them had to have that doll, also!! Mine is AbbyRose Lian, and I’ve had so much fun sewing for her thru the years. She does well in bright colors with black.
Dear Charlotte, Gigi looks adorable in her new outfit. I can hear “three cheers for the red, white, and blue” playing in the background as she waves her flag.
I still have a VHS player. I like old movies also. My favorite musical is Guys and Dolls. I love seeing Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers dance.
As for old time TV, give me Perry Mason (luckily it’s still on in re-runs) and Green Acres.
Thank you, Dorothy. Gigi is quite pleased that she’s gotten so much attention!! 😁 I think she may be getting a bit spoiled!
We have a dual player–VHS and DVD. Good, as we have many Many tapes as well as quite a few of the others. We love old movies, particularly musicals. One of our favorites is “Yankee Doodle Dandy”. My personal favorite musical is “Singin’ in the Rain”–I’m a huge Gene Kelly fan! Ron likes anything with “Janie”–Jane Powell–in it. We met her once, and it took a week to wipe the silly grin off his face!! 😂🤣😂
How fun. Love Charlotte’s 4th scene. So festive and the dress made by Jeanne, is adorable. I’ve always wanted Gigi. Sort of the smiley one. We have TenPing, Jar-Lu, and YuPing here. After seeing the cute scene, the girls here have not so subtly suggested that they too, need to be displayed in such a sweet manor. 🙂
Humm. New doll for Jeanne for her feet? Only one I can think of could be a RRFF Siblie? Yesterday, I saw a picture of one of the new core line Siblie’s. Very sweet looking with long brown hair. I have a feeling that the sneak peek is usually right before the introduction. 🙂 Can’t wait to see what doll exactly Jeanne has coming to visit at her place.
Yesterday, a new RRFF girl arrived right smack dab on the front porch rug at the top of the stairs clearly visible on the walk up the steps. We were gone on errands during the arrival, but the online note said that she had arrived 15 minutes before us. I purposely had planned our quick trip so that we would arrive sometime before the 2:15-4:15 arrival. How strange. The package showed up over an hour early from UPS. What is with that? Late, yes. Early? Unheard of, but it happened. So, other person got in a big squawk. 🙁 But, the latest here, Daphne, is a sweet hippie girl. All decked out in flowing flowered skirt and wreath head décor. And what I absolutely love are her crazy sandals. They are exactly what we wore back then, with tie on wrapped around the ankle straps and even some pretty decorations. I’ll have to send Jeanne a picture if I get a moment today. They are so cute. We’re going to head back to bramble cutting today. Ugh. Much cooler though and foggy. Hope everyone else has a fun day planned. 🙂
Dear Joy, oh no! Your plan went awry.
I was just watching Leverage: Redemption. I loved the original series with Timothy Hutton. Redemption is the spin off. It’s a modern version of Mission Impossible, which I loved.
Do send Jeanne a photo of Daphne so we can see her. I am sure she needed a nap to rest from her travels.
Thank you, Joy–yes, you should get your Ten Ping and friends out and do a little display sometime. They are such sweet dolls (and of course Jeanne’s clothes for them are wonderful–Gigi has four outfits now!).
Oh dear….looks like UPS is going to have to work on their timing a little more!!
Dear Jeanne, hummm, a new doll. I am guessing that you found a doll at Goodwill and she has the same foot size as the RRFFs and you will be using her as a foot model. That’s my best guess. I can’t wait to “tune in” tomorrow for the reveal.
Well a new doll! That’s always fun…even if it is only for her feet!😆
Charlotte your 4th of July scene looks very cute! Her little outfit is just adorable! Did Jeanne make that?
I don’t have a VHS player anymore but still have lots of VHS’s and I don’t want to get rid of them as they hold sentimental value but I do love ❤️ 2 older shows “Little House on the Prairie” and “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman” and luckily both are on tv 📺 and streaming services. In particular, Amazon Prime.
Charlotte your scene is adorable. Gigi is so happy to be celebrating😉 Your Annalee pixies are the perfect size and the fireworks are so clever. Thanks for letting us see her. Glad you like the Asian AG doll. I’m going to sell her so I’ll see if there are some bright colored clothes in her things. When did you buy her? This one is marked Pleasant Company but I don’t know what year.
Joy…so other person was squawking? Darn early delivery😵💫Hope he got over it quickly.
So Jeanne has a new doll that has different feet? Interesting. We will be back to see that out for sure.
I’m enjoying today because we are going to have a very long, very hot spell coming.🥴
Thank you, Lauren; yes, Jeanne made Gigi’s outfit. She is quite a spoiled little girl–she now has four of Jeanne’s outfits! I am a sewer, and I can tell you, I have never been disappointed in anything Jeanne has made–I am happy to say, she is Just as “picky” a sewer as I am (and that’s pretty darned picky!).
Oh, I used to love “Dr. Quinn”. “Little House,” too, as I read all those books as a kid.
I’ve heard of hand models and foot models so I guess Jeanne’s purchase is not too unusual but sure can’t wait to see who it is.
I love Charlotte’s pictures of Gigi. She is the cutest and the outfit is adorable.
All the talk of cotton bathing suits made me think to send Jeanne a picture from my childhood. I loved cotton bathing suits and they were easy to sew. I made several.
Has anyone seen the message from Ruby Red Galleria where children designed their dream dolls and the winners are having their dolls created? The dolls are adorable. I wish I had known about the contest. Jaiden loves to draw and has a great imagination. I think she would have entered. They are doing one again for everyone.
Well, today’s the day. My hubby has a new, expanded slab for his grilling porch, the slab is poured for the addition and Hallelujah!! I now have a new driveway. Unusable at the moment but should be usable starting Saturday. It’s lovely. Whoever thought a driveway would be a luxury item, but I feel like I just won the lottery. LOL Hubby just bought me the bill to make out a check. Concrete has gone up incredibly in price. Just glad to have it done.
Thank you, Barbara. Yes, I think Gigi is pretty cute!
I hope you’ll have Jaiden enter the next contest for designing a new doll. Wouldn’t that be fun if she won?!
Congrats on the new driveway! I’m thinking that might not be a bad idea here, as ours has gotten cracked in the last 54 years (when the house was new).
So glad that the driveway has come to fruition. Oh, and the new edition foundation as well. Yippee! No more dirt/dust flying around I’m sure.
I have seen a very cute pattern for a RRFF swimsuit. The dollies are trying to convince me to hit the buy button. I think it would look great in cotton. 🙂
Joy, if you do get that swimsuit pattern, check the directions. If it’s made for regular swimsuit fabric, which has a LOT of stretch, it will not work for plain cotton fabric, which has none. You may need to enlarge the pattern to make it work, and then add gathers to the back with elastic thread in the bobbin to hold it close to the body.
Gigi and friends are festive in their red, white, and blue. There were the most adorable Annalee figures at our Home Goods in Tennessee, but they were always for the winter holidays. I love seeing those for the 4th and they look great posed with Gigi for your holiday display.
Oh no Joy – a miscalculation! Great description of Daphne. I could not decide if she was a gypsy or a hippie. Waiting patiently for two from France so passed on Daphne. They have been cranking them out fast and furiously this summer. I can’t keep up!
Happy to hear your have a driveway Barbara. They are a luxury if you don’t have one.
Looking forward to the shoe model Jeanne, just a guess that her feet are for shoes.
Andy Griffith every night when we just can’t stand another minute of the news. I can’t believe we live in one of those little North Carolina towns! Never in my wildest dreams…
Thank you, Debbie. Most of my Annalees are for Christmas, but I have a few for Easter, July 4th, and Halloween, too, and, I think, one for Valentine’s day. Annalee does have a web site and they are having a big sale right now (I get notices on FB), so you might search for that. I always think it’s more fun to shop for them in person, though, as then you might have a chance to choose which face you get. As I recall, there were three of the mouse in the hat with fireworks, and each one had a different face!
I looked at the new basic RRFFs tonight, and there’s a new Siblie named Minnie that is calling my name. As yet, I haven’t gotten any Siblies, but we’ll see!
