Some American Girl Doll pictures…and shoes are coming soon…

Hi everyone,
It’s midnight and I haven’t read all the comments from my post today but when I get in bed (soon), I will! I barely have any spare minutes in my days lately, but I know this will change soon too! My hubby is doing pretty well… trying to walk with his walker in the house fairly often… and keeping ice on his knee. Thursday is Physical Therapy again…and yep, it’s still Jeanne’s Taxi service!

I have had some snippets of time yesterday and today and have been working on doll sandals… I’m hoping to be able to show you maybe even Friday… I’ll tell you more about them as soon as I can… I think I’m going to pick a time and show them on my blog and see if anyone is interested in them, before trying to list them ALL on Etsy… I have also tried and tried to get faster at making them, but I haven’t necessarily gotten faster, but better. I try to improve on them each time I make a pair. I mentioned that I thought I would sell them for $15 with free shipping, but I have realized, I will have to charge $18 with free shipping. Because they are over 1/4″ in thickness in a package, it will cost more to ship them… (because they are a small package, I’d like to add delivery confirmation.) So I guess I’ll see what happens. :o) Anyway, stay tuned.

Lian’s sweet red, white and blue dress is doing very well and there are lots of watchers and views… Lian is quite proud that she is the only one who will be getting a 4th of July dress. I told her she needed to keep that fact to herself…

Okay, now for some more doll pictures. Laura sent me some and I hope you’ll enjoy them…

Hi Jeanne,
You asked for pictures and so pictures you shall have. *smiles* I have a few different dolls in different scenes to share. Here is Shiloh with her bunny, Bluebell enjoying a summer’s day.

A closer view, because look who has joined them. A tiny bee and snail.

Shiloh has her miniature farm set up also.

Gilead in her 1980s timeframe is enjoying a relaxing day at the beach with her Westie, Lily May. They’ve brought a radio along to listen to some music.

Lily May is happy in her sailor’s hat with her toys.

Gilead also brought a few beach toys.

Finally, here is Milagros enjoying her lunch. She’s also brought along her telescope to look for beautiful birds while she eats. She’s being very careful with her dress because there is a fiesta later
Thank you for letting me share some pictures.

You are welcome, Laura… thanks for sharing… I didn’t have anything planned, so you saved the day! :o)

See everyone tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

You have had some very long days lately, Jeanne (and this will likely continue for a bit), so don’t worry about not responding to all our comments. I’m just glad George is doing well, using his walker, etc. It won’t be long before he’ll be able to do more things for himself, and that will free up some time for you.

Interested in your dolly sandals? Oh, my, yes!! For both LDs and RRFFs!! I’ve already spotted a couple of pair I’d like (from those you’ve shown on previous posts), and I’m sure there will be others!! We have some very spoiled little girls in this house, you know, and now that Gigi has her own pair of “Jeanne the shoemaker” shoes, the others are clamoring for some, too!

Laura, thanks for sharing your pictures. You have some wonderful accessories for your dolls! I particularly like Gilead’s radio and her beach toys (PlayMobile?). In reference to yesterday’s comment, I also have Kirsten’s first table/chairs (the unpainted ones).

Kathie, when we still had a doll club, one of our members had the Original Dionne quints set, and brought hem one day. We all got to look at them (pick them up!!), too. Such a treat!!

There is celebration in this house as I have Finally started the LAST pair of shortalls for my LDs. There are high hopes that I might get them finished before summer is over!! 🤩

    1. Thank you so much, Charlotte. Gliead’s radio came from CVS maybe four or five years ago. It really plays, but you get a station by scanning so it’s a hit or miss.
Yes, the beach toys as well as everything in the toy farm scene is Playmobil. My daughter had a lot of it and decided to sort through and get rid of some.i sorted through the discards and kept my favorites with the intent of using them in a fairy garden scene. After I got dolls I discovered they make perfectly scaled toys for them.

      1. Laura,
I just love your pictures! Shiloh is very beautiful and in my home my dear girl Marie Grace is loved very much too! Right now she is in the beauty chair! Gliead looks so peaceful at the beach 🏝 but I especially LOVE ❤️ Lily May and all her accessories…she looks like one styling pup! Lastly, but not least is Milagros, I love everything about this picture! I love her dress 👗 the food 🍱 and Milagros herself! Great Job 👏!

Jeanne, it’s nice to hear that George is progressing! I remember those first couple of weeks after my TKR. not fun! But it all works out, and a month from now, there will be a LOT of improvement! It just doesn’t go as fast as we would like!

Your flip flops and sandals will be a hit, I’m sure! So many people getting those darling RRFF dolls will suddenly need them when they see how cute and versatile they are. Although you do love sewing, having a little somehting different to do makes it fun!

Laura, your dolls are so sweet, they way they are dressed and set up! I love how you have changed their names, but it sure does confuse me, which is why I don’t change my dolls names! You are so very lucky to have that darling On the Trail dress, that I can only dream about! Have you seen how much it goes for now on Ebay? That’s why I don’t have it!!

Is that Addy’s Work Dress in that picture with the farm scene? It looks familiar! And Lily May (Coconut) with her hat, inner tube and toys are darling! Funny thing, I gave one of my toy dogs a name, and now can’t remember it! Why didn’t AG name all the dogs? 🙂

And your Milagros is my Josefina! I have everything in that setting, and love the summery feel of that dress! Her little clay canteen is adorable, and probably today it would be made of plastic, which is why I love the older version so much. Thank you for sending the pictures to Jeanne, and to Jeanne for showing them!

    1. Thank you so much, Linda. I really have to change their names to personalize them and make them truly mine. Not only do all except Samantha and Felicity have new first and last names, but they also have two to three middle names as well and yes, I know them in my head. Gilead is actually a custom. She’s a Nellie base with #33’s wig.
I love the On the Trail dress and Yes, I know how much it goes for on eBay. Mine was an incredible lucky score a few years ago off of Etsy. It was NRFB , but the seller marked it used because the book was missing. I didn’t care about the book so it was great.
Yes, that is Addy’s work dress and apron. I snapped that picture first and then changed her dress.
I believe AG did name all the dogs/pets historical or modern, but I only have two Coconuts and both are renamed just as the bunny who was called Baxter originally is.
I love the old sets also. With just a very few exceptions of Caroline’s items my accessories stop in 2009 and my clothing in 2011.

      1. Li da in St. Louis

Laura, I have among others, the Chocolate Lab puppy, and the Wheaten Terrier puppy, so I have to give them names, and it has been awhile since I named them! AG has a couple more like that with just the kind of puppy it is, but no name. Wish I could remember what I named them!☺️

So glad to hear that George is scooting around using his walker. I’m sure with his determination he will be able to ditch it soon. It really has not been that long at all that he had the replacement even done. Guess the heat here has changed my mentality.
Laura’s photos are so welcome. I really enjoyed seeing all of the AG’s and the great props. Whatever flooring she used for the beach scene looks exactly like sand. How fun to see the tiny Playmobile pieces. I loved those probably more than our girls ever did. 🙂
How nice of Jeanne to think of offering sandals to her blog friends before listing on Etsy. Glad she checked the shipping because that 1/4″ thing is what I think caused a tiny envelope I sent to grand to end up taking four months to arrive back here after never being delivered to it’s destination an hour and a half away. 🙂
We’re only supposed to be 85 today! Yay. 🙂

    1. Thank you so much, Joy. My “sand” is actually just a piece of folded tan cotton broadcloth i found in the fabric storage and thought that it would do nicely.
I was always crazy about the Playmobil as well. My daughter always enjoyed what she received, but it was me who would call replacement parts to order random pieces that I didn’t plan to buy her the whole set of. I thought that was such a great marketing plan.
Btw, since the Playmobil work great with the PC/AG girls and I also see they work well with my RRFF they would be super with any of your RRFFs or Meadow dolls.

  4. Jeanne, you are a person wearing several hats- talented hats I might add. Taxi driver recently added, seamstress, shoe maker, cook and baker, husband support! Do what you need to do, we know things will simmer down.
Glad George is doing so well. It will get better for him. I also had a TKR and did well afterwards. After my knee recovered, I tripped over something twice and fell directly on that knee- aside from bruises, my knee remained strong and unharmed! ( I also had a total replaced shoulder – on the same side. – ( it’s amazing how well it has done). One side of me is bionic?!

So glad to hear you will sell your sandals first in
your stores. Can’t wait to see them.

Laura, your girls are charming!! Each picture conveys a happy scene. I love it that you add the pets too. Lily May looks so cute in her sailor hat. She is looking intently at the lobster!
Gilead looks cute in her white frock too- she always looks so pretty in any outfit. Good idea for her sand!
I can almost hear the sea gulls.
Shiloh’s dress is beautiful. Is that the dress Linda is referring too? I must have missed that one if it is. I don’t recall that dress at all
. In all your pictures, the accessories are really cute. Milagros looks beautiful in her dress too. What neat accessories you have for all your girls.

To Jeanne and the sofa sisters: When ever I write a comment, I type so fast that I make lots of errors with my spelling. I apologize. I need to proof read before sending it. One mistake I often make is for the word “dolls”. I’ll be a key off and my phone puts in “ folks”. I don’t call dolls,” folks” so please overlook that mistake. Embarrassing!

    1. Laura in Ohio

Thank you so much, Paula. I definitely have to have pets included in scenes as that “completes” them as far I can see. I appreciate your sweet comments.
Yes, Shiloh dress is actually called Kirsten’s On the Trail dress (Checked dress and apron) and was part of the short story outfits that AG released back in 1999. I have this, Felicity’s Traveling Gown, and Addy’s Striped dress from that release. They made something for Samantha, Josefina, and Molly as well.
Gilead’s frock is nothing but an apron with pantalettes underneath. Unfortunately, no one has a proper swimsuit for their era yet for those eras where swimming was proper for girls.

  5. Forgot to mention: Jeanne, Lian’s dress is adorable. I think I like Lian the best of all your LD’s. She just looks great in these colors. Your pictures are so vivid of her in this very patriotic colored dress and I love the design. She’s certainly got interest so far.
I also like the boxes of Cracker Jacks going to the winner of this outfit. Seeing that box brought back a memory – I have a Cracker Jack box in my doll room in honor of my dad. He was in the Navy and when I was little, I thought the Cracker Jack man on the box was my dad. We have a picture of my dad standing in his navy suit from back during WWII and he’s standing the same way as the sailor on the box.

  6. Thank you again for sharing my pictures, Jeanne. I hope George continues to feel better each day.

  7. Kind of late to post but had a busy day today😉
Laura your settings are so much fun. My favorite is Shiloh with her bunny…the way her hand lays on the bunny is so realistic and the bunny cage is a hoot😄
Glad George is up using his Walker….Hope he does it every hour or so🥴 it makes so much difference.
When I mail little things I use an 8 1/2 x 11 envelope folded in half…it accommodates the address label without trimming the label. Then the small item covered with bubble wrap slips inside. I do tape the open side edges when it is folded so it can’t catch on anything like the conveyer belts packages move on.That way it is not so small and not so easy to get lost. That signature thing is pricey and just the regular tracking is no additional cost and tells when it is delivered.
Can’t wait to see all the shoes🥰
