Dollie & Me outfits from the Goodwill tub… and more…

Hi everyone,
Thank you SO much for all the great help figuring out what the outfits were called and what went with what! I really do appreciate it! I’ve separated all the Dollie & Me doll outfits and will be showing you those in a minute, but I wanted to show you something Kathie sent me regarding the eyes on some dolls changing colors. I know there was talk of the brown eyes turning purple and fading out… Well, this is what Kathie said and did… Doll expert that she is!!! On the subject line of her email to me, she called this “Scary eyes… before and after!”

I saw the conversation about the doll eyes that turned pink. We had Doll Club today and one lady is selling her Mother in Law’s dolls. These two no one wanted because of the pink eyes. I used fine tipped Sharpies and they went back to a better color. Not sure how long it will last but they are a permanent marker😉

With her new blue eyes, she is adorable, Kathie! Very nice work!

What a nice improvement on this doll too. You really did save these 2 dolls and now the other ladies in your doll club will be wishing they had taken them! :o)

Boy, when I asked for help, I certainly got it…even down to the napkin rings/bows on the table in the background. Charlotte sent me this picture and an explanation…

Here is the picture of my AbbyRose and my friend’s Annie; as you see, they have the little cups and saucers on the table in front of them. If you look in the background, you will see the bow/elastics holding the rolled-up napkins! Now you know!

Okay, now onto the Dollie & Me doll clothes. I initially was going to use Molly as my model, but these clothes were just a tiny bit snug on her, so I switched to my Beforever Samantha… she’s got the more slender body.

Here is Molly in the first Christmas dress I tried on her…

Cute, but a bit snug in the body… you can see that better in the back…

Here it is on Samantha… better, but still a little snug. Maybe these fit the Our Generation type dolls from Walmart and Target.

Here is a second red Christmas dress. It’s looser and fits better.

This was a lone denim top in a baggie… It is cute, but the back is uneven.

I fiddled with the velcro and got it somewhat lined up at the hem. I think you could wear it with some leggings.

These Dollie & Me pajamas are made of a soft knit and are very sweet. They are in mint condition and fit well on Samantha… they are roomy and look comfy. It’s just 2 pieces…

That was all the Dollie & Me outfits… these next few things have no brand name in them…

The 2 pairs of pajamas are soft flannel and fit fairly well. The black leopard pair is a bit smaller in the top but still fits on Samantha. The trees set of PJ’s are a bit short in the pants and in the sleeves, but they are more of a loose fit… they also have real working buttonholes instead of Velcro.

These few things I’m debating about listing… the light chambray top is missing a button and really is too small for the dolls, but might work on smaller bodied dolls.

The purple leotard is just by itself, however it is made pretty well and fits Samantha decently. There are no snags on it that I could see. It’s a lavender lycra with silver designs.

This is a pair of lone leggings all by themself. They are in very nice condition and a soft knit.

This no name wedding or maybe confirmation dress could be cute if it were steamed and a few seams fixed in the back. The opening in the back is too high up and it’s not super easy to get this on a doll. But when it’s finally on, it’s pretty cute. The veil is on a little headband and the tulle needs to be steamed too…

These last 4 pieces were for Bitty Baby, I’m assuming… since there was that pink shirred nightgown and that one pink Bitty Baby shoe. I was going to put these 4 outfits in one lot… they have been well loved but just might make some little girl very happy…

Well, that’s what was in the Goodwill tub. Now to get some decent pictures of everything and I’ll be ready to do some selling! I think I have it figured out how I’m going to do it.

I can’t do it on Etsy, because it has to be handmade or vintage, and I really don’t think this would qualify… I think you’ll be happy with what I come up with…

As far as my Etsy shop goes, I don’t have anything listed in it yet, but you can check out the previous sales I’ve had if you wanted…

Here is a link to it…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Kathie, you made Quite a difference in those dolls’ eyes with your permanent marker!! If they are porcelain dolls, you probably Could have removed the heads and changed the eye from the inside, but that is a lot of work!!

Thank you for sharing my picture, Jeanne! As you see, AbbyRose and Annie were all dressed up for Hallween! I made AbbyRose’s costume and mask, as well as the mask Annie is wearing.

It was fun to see all the Dollie and Me outfits that you got. I am wondering if the trees pajamas might not have been made by someone’s mom or grandma (or purchased at a craft bazaar), because it has fancy buttons on it. Usually commercially-made garments have really plain, inexpensive buttons on them.

I think one of my favorite pieces is the leotard. I love that fabric!

Thanks for the link to your etsy shop! Now we know….

Barbara, your grandson’s church camp sounds absolutely luxurious! The first time I went to church camp (Fortune Lake Bible Camp in Upper Michigan), my dad was the chaplain, and my brother and I were too young to be “campers” so we stayed in the chaplain’s cabin with daddy and mom. There was NO running water! I remember brushing my teeth on the little porch, and “spitting” over the rail! The bathrooms were just large out-houses, with stalls!! I suppose I was 7 or 8 at the time (around 1953-54). When I finally did go as a camper, at about age 12, I suppose, they had real plumbing/bathrooms, and showers. (They may have had showers that first time, but I don’t remember.)

    1. Hi Charlotte,
Thanks for your picture! I’m sure everyone was scrutinizing your picture to see everything!

I did check to see if anything in the lot was handmade, but nothing was…

Of course you love the leopard…it’s purplish/lavender!!

      Thanks Charlotte!
      Blessings, Jeanne

Again, the expertise of our sofa sisters is beyond amazing!! What a difference Kathie made with those dolls! they look brand new!

Charlotte, your picture is adorable! Thanks to you, we can see how much fun you must have had eating out!

Jeanne, I am no help at all today, since all I know is AG clothes! Sorry!

    1. Hi Linda,
Well, I found some more AG clothes from a previous buy and I might as well add them here to sell with these.
Thanks for your help.. and I’m SO glad your sandals for Betsy arrived!!
      Blessings, Jeanne

Jeanne, about those last pieces that you say are for Bitty Baby, I do know that BB clothes always have a Bitty Baby tag on them. If these don’t, they could be from another baby doll line. I used to buy Bitty clothes for my granddaughters, so know about the tags. These don’t seem to be on Meg’s Guide on AGPT, at least not that I could see. Maybe someone else here might see them there, but I couldn’t.

    1. Hi Linda,
I only found Bitty Baby tags on that pink shirred nightgown and on that one pink shoe.
      Thanks, Jeanne

Some years back, I was going to try the Sharpie method on one of my Tonner girls, but never did. Seeing Kathie’s work, I suppose I could give it a try. So far, my RRFF/Siblie kids look okay. Keeping them out of the sun and away from LED lighting is also supposed to help. Kathie’s eye renovations are quite amazing. Great work!

    1. Hi Joy,
I have been debating about a Siblie…mostly for flip flops since I just discovered they have that split toe too…hmmm.
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. Joy in northern CA

Yes, please get one as the Siblies here need thongs. And don’t forget the boys. They need some too. 🙂
Did you check out the latest on RRToys under Fan Club. Several new ones on for ordering tomorrow. 🙂

What an amazing difference Kathie made using the Sharpie to color the faded eyes. I’m not sure I would have had the nerve to try it. The dolls look wonderful now. I get emails from a site I can’t remember off hand and don’t seem to have it as a favorite. There are all kinds of eyes you can buy for your dolls but most of them make dolls look creepy – imho. When I run across the site again I’ll mention it. Love to see what others think.

My 18″ dolls are MA and they are slender compared to most of the AG dolls. I never really thought about it till I made Gracie’s Christmas dress a couple years ago using a pattern for AG dolls. It practically falls off her. Some of the tighter clothes would probably fit her and Natalie very well.

Can’t wait to see how you are going to sell your recently acquired treasures. I’m sure you will have a great return on your investment.

My darling doll sandals came today. I haven’t put them on anyone just yet. Probably this afternoon. So cute!

    1. Hi Barbara,
Just wondering does MA stand for Magic Attic? I know someone who used to collect those!

      1. Barbara in SE Texas

Hi, Lauren. It’s actually Madam Alexander. I don’t have a Magic Attic doll but I have looked them up from time to time. Nice dolls.

      2. Hi Lauren,
I just saw your question but see Barbara answered you…
        Blessings, Jeanne

    2. Hi Barbara
I just remembered I have more AG clothes…and probably need to sell them with the ones I’ve just shown…
Glad your sandals arrived. Hope your girls love them.
      Blessings, Jeanne

It has been fun following along with the mystery tub this week and keeping up with George’s progress. It seems as if he is doing pretty well, prayers for the healing to stay on track.

I am enjoying reading everyone’s comments each day but the kitchen remodel is keeping my fingers off the keyboard.

Just stopping in to say hi and Happy 4th!

    1. Hi Debbie,
Thanks for the prayers for my hubby…after his physical therapy today, he felt sick. When we got home he laid down and slept for 2 hours…

I KNOW a thing or two about kitchen renovations!! They take twice as long as you think and are usually twice as much as you’d hope them to be!

      Happy 4th to you too!!!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Thanks for your nice comments about the eye color Sofa Sisters.😍 It was just a try because they were going to Good Will them anyway. Such a sad story about her MIL..a talented lady who had valuable antiques and hundreds and hundreds of dolls. She fell and literally cracked her head open….( her dogs tripped her) She has severe brain damage so all her things have to be sold because she is now in a care center.
She had old dolls, new dolls, very valuable and many like these that are so pretty but haven’t kept their value. Hopefully selling her house and contents will help keep her cared for😢 Just another one of those things that happen out of the blue that changes your life forever😳
Jeanne..Your blog would not come up at all… I went through Google and it brought up the May 18 …so found it from there🥴
Yeah for George! Sounds like things are coming along. Can he tell it feels different and better than before?

Dear Jeanne, it seems like you have figured out what all of the items are. It truly was a treasure trove in a plastic bin.

I tried to click on Reply to Kathie but I couldn’t get it to work. Kathie did a great job in rescuing the dollies with poor eyes. I hope the color sticks.

      1. Hi Dorothy,
Yes, it was a tub of treasures and fun to see all that was in there.
Those eyes Kathie did were really wonderful, in my opinion!!
        Thanks Dorothy
        Blessings, Jeanne

    2. Hi Kathie,
Such a sad story about your lady friend. You are SO right…one thing can change your life forever.
My hubby is still walking with his walker…but he is getting a little better each day…he says other than the pain he still has, it doesn’t feel strange or anything, but he really is looking forward to walking on his own without limping!
      Thanks Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne
