I checked (very carefully) on the baby birds in the holly bush, and now there are 3 that have hatched… and they were hungry! I snapped this quick picture as I heard the mama bird rustling in the bush below the nest… (If I had known how their little beaks were open and they were squeaking and moving back and forth, I would have quickly taken a short video… but that may have disturbed them too much!)
I have 2 auctions ending this evening (Saturday) and you can see them both by clicking on the pictures at the right side bar…(or at the bottom if you are on a phone). One is the little red, cream and blue Patriotic set for the 8″ Ten Ping sized dolls…(HERE) and the other is the Regency dress being modeled by American Girl Rebecca and Elizabeth. (HERE)
I have been working on something(s) for a few weeks whenever I found a few minutes… Next week I’ll show you what I’ve been doing… I think you’ll like it… :o)
Here’s a little hint…
Well, I know this is short, but I need to get to bed. We worked hard at the Food Pantry today…
See you Monday!!
Have a great weekend!
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh, how neat–you have Three baby birds now! This will be fun to watch in the coming days/weeks. Hopefully momma bird won’t mind your popping in for a picture now and again!
My guess on what you might be making is….sandals! Or perhaps espadrilles? I’m sure they’ll be cute, whatever it is!
Jeanne, sorry I didn’t get to comment yesterday, but my day was full, and you know how that is! I wanted to say that your nest picture is so sweet, and now three baby birds! I can’t figure out why a nest would be built in a holly tree, since we used to have a big one, and they are full of sharp, sticky “thorns” all around the edges of the leaves. Doesn’t seem that easy to get in and out of, maybe to keep predators out, but how do the bird who build those nests get in?? Same thing with the way squirrels build nests way up in the trees, how do they keep the babies from falling out? Well, Mother Nature seems to know what she is doing!
Is Ten Ping trying to steal the “show” from Queen Elizabeth? She seems to have inserted herself online with not just one, but two darling outfits! I love the yard pictures too, and yesterday was a wonderful day to get anything done outside. I got my windows washed…..finally!
Yes, it looks like some new summery sandals or espadrilles are in the works, which might tell us that another summery outfit is or will be coming soon!
You mentioned that your clematis isn’t doing well this year, but mine is doing pretty well!
Dear Jeanne, I echo Charlotte. I think you are working on sandals with pretty straps.
Tomorrow I am going to the Queen’s Tea at my favorite tearoom. I will be sure to take some photos to share with the Sofa Sisters. Every year the proprietor of the tearoom hosts a special tea honoring the Queen. This will be my first time attending.
Next Saturday my local doll club will hold its annual Luncheon. It will be on World Doll Day! The theme is Diamonds and Dolls. I am already excited.
Hi Dorothy,
I hope you have a wonderful time at the Queen’s Tea. How special and please do be sure to share photos.
Dear Laura, yes, I will definitely share photos. I am very excited.
That sounds wonderful! Yes, we Brits sure do love our 🫖 tea and our 👸🏻 Queen! Your doll club luncheon also sounds great! My doll club is just me and my dolls but it is very fun! We have been dressing up for the different events of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee! This is something very historical for Britain 🇬🇧 and the world, even if they don’t realize it. After, our Queen Elizabeth II, there is not going to be a Queen for a very long time.
I caught the concert for the Platinum Jubilee yesterday on the BBC and thought it was Superb!
Long Live the Queen! God Save the Queen!🇬🇧
Dear Annie, we love the Queen over here too. I loved seeing her with President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. They all looked so elegant.
The United Federation of Doll Clubs (UFDC) does have an international chapter, if you are interested. I think it meets via Zoom. Many of our doll clubs do meet via Zoom now.
The tea today was lovely. We toasted the Queen. I echo here what you wrote above, “Long Live the Queen! God Save the Queen!”
Next door kitty, Charlotte, had not shown up for a few days for her kibble. When she first was a no show, I asked other person to double check the garage to see if she was trapped. This has happened before. He did a walk through and said she wasn’t there. However, Charlotte does not like him much. Yesterday, our neighbor Michael, asked if we had seen Charlotte. We said no. He was going to go check the pound and his teens were going to put up flyers. Sad. We were headed inside and unloading from a Costco run. I asked other person to unlock the garage door and said I’d double check. Went back down and looked inside. No signs of Charlotte. Then, I called inside the cavern a couple of times. And there was a faint meow! What? How can that be? Called again and heard rustling. Kept calling and heard the meow answer coming from the land of boxes, lawn mowers, and old car blankets. More meows and louder this time. This is a cat that does not meow ever, beyond a tiny fairly inaudible whimper. I was so anxious and scared. Had she really been in the garage all of this time? Well, yes she had, and we had been in and out numerous times. The Marco Polo calling continued until she popped into view. Have no idea why she stayed in the garage when other person checked, but guess I’ll have to do the checking in the future. She walked out the garage door looking absolutely fine and exactly the same as usual. She even did a rollover at my feet. I zoomed next door to let neighbor know she was released, and she followed. By the time neighbor was in the drive, Charlotte, took off under his fence and didn’t even bother to greet him. He made some comment, like nice to see you, Charlotte. Oh well, the story ended happily. About a half an hour later, Charlotte was back, taking a long drink from our front yard water bowl. She came running over to me and actually wanted a pet. So rare for her. I obliged, and not fifteen minutes later, she was at the back slider waiting for her usual meal. Cats. Love em. 🙂
Have a great weekend everyone. 🙂
Joy, I just read your post about the bird singing at night. We have a “night singer” also but I am going to lay blame on a Whip O Will or a Chuck’s Will Widow. It sings (or shouts) the same tune over and over. Thankful that our fan blocks the sound. I don’t know how any of the creatures can get a moments sleep.
Hi Joy, I’m so very happy to hear you found Charlotte kitty safe and sound. Have a few porch kitties I care for here, but luckily they stay in their houses on the porch or yard and don’t try to get stuck in the garage. We did have one that was always trying to stay in the garage at the beginning of the winter when I needed to shut the door, very clever. She lives inside now! 😸 🙂
That photo is magazine worthy! I am thinking Birds and Blooms. We have a similar nest but in a bay bush at the end of the driveway where the cars turnaround to exit the driveway. We have plenty of other shrubs, not sure why she choose that one.
Joy, so glad your cat made herself known and is showering you with affection to make up for your concern. : )
Dorothy, your luncheon sounds wonderful! How fortunate you are to have in person doll friends to share your hobby.
Dear Debbie, thank you for your nice words. I do feel lucky to have doll friends who like to take Afternoon Tea and tea friends who don’t mind doll chatter around the tea table. For me it doesn’t get any better than tea and dolls.
Tea and dolls is the best! Share pictures please. 🙂
Dear Debbie, I just sent some photos to Jeanne. Tea was wonderful!
Sandals would be my guess too☺️ So will these sandals be the start of an outfit that would match them or maybe you have fabric set aside and those trims match? What fun this will be!
Joy… so glad you found your kitty. So she wasn’t really stuck….just hiding? Cats sure have their own personality.
The baby birds are adorable… we have robins but they are up under a gutter so can’t see the babies. The mama let’s us know when we walk under the nest though.😳 I think Mockingbirds sing at night….do you have them in your area? We took a trip to DC and arrived in the middle of the night at our BB… I was so surprised to hear birds. They said it was Mockingbirds….wish we had them here😉
Dorothy I envy your “EnglishTea” what a fun year to attend! So glad Queen Elizabeth has been able to attend most of her parties. Have a great time!
Dear Kathie, I am so excited to take tea. I am not sure what will be served but the food there is always wonderful.
Your baby Mockingbirds are just precious, Jeanne. We have mockingbirds here often although I haven’t been fortunate enough to ever find a nest.
I also think you are working on sandals or espadrilles with the ribbon ties around your ankle.
I’m enjoying watching Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. The 70 formation was breathtaking and the Jubilee beacon lighting was beautiful. What a fun historic occasion.
A few doll board members are doing doll things to celebrate. Here was my “small” contribution.

Laura, love the pic of the tiny tea. So cute. 🙂
Dear Laura, I love the photos. Dolly teas are so much fun!
