Ten Ping is still in the spotlight…

Dont forget:
“Watercolor Regency” is ending on Ebay this evening. (Saturday) There are no bidders as of yet, so it could be yours if you like! :o)
If you want to see the listing, you can click the picture at the right side bar or you can click HERE.

This was my favorite picture from the ones I took…

Now, let’s see what Ten Ping has been up to…
She thought I could do better on the shoes, so I tried making a pair of shoe lasts from some Sculpy I had… It’s just a matter of trying to replicate the dolls foot and ankle in the clay and then bake it. Then you’ll have something to “fit” the leather pieces onto to make the shoes. Well, making the shoe lasts wasn’t the hard part…

(I’ll have to show a picture, maybe Monday, of the reason I don’t care for the first pair of shoes I made… I don’t like that seam in the back and the way they fit on her hee…it’s too slanted.)

This is what the shoes looked like with the lasts inside them…

Uh… nope… I decided there was no sense in finishing them.

I don’t know HOW I was so off on these… but fortunately, I “think” I might be able to use them for Noel’s feet. She’s my 10″ Boneka doll. I think the red pair I tried are heading to the trash…

So I remembered I had this little doll I had bought at the Thrift Shop. I had taken the legs off because her feet were the exact same size as Navi’s. (She’s my little 6″ My Meadow doll) I knew Ten Ping’s foot was a bit longer but almost the same width so I took some blue painters tape and added some to the back of the heel to make the foot longer. This is what I ended up with…

The shoes fit on the doll “last” and looked like this…

AND THEY FIT TEN PING NICELY! YAY!

Next I turned to the red straw hat… let’s see… how to decorate it?

It has a tendency to flip up so I’m going to try and see if I can’t steam or wet the straw and shape it so it stays down…

I’m also in the process of making a little 3 cornered headscarf… I just fray checked the edges so it would be more dainy and lay better, but I want to add a magnetic clasp to the back so the winner doesn’t have to fumble with a snap or a tie on such a tiny little doll.

I’ve just laid it on Ten Ping’s head right now…but it looks pretty cute on her…

All in all, this is turning out to be one really sweet set… at least that’s what Ten Ping told me! :o)

See you Monday,
Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!
Blessings, Jeanne

Your ingenuity always amazes me, Jeanne; I would never have thought to add tape onto the (disembodied) feet of another doll to fill them out to Ten Ping’s size, and use those as lasts for some new shoes for her. Brilliant!

I love the decorations on the hat, too, and then with the little head scarf as another option, there is just a lot of versatility to this entire outfit! Ten PIng is going to be sad when she has to finally take it off!

It’s actually not such a bad thing that her hat flips up like that; don’t worry about it too much. It just helps to show off her sweet litle face all the better!

Jeanne, what a cute and versatile set this is turning out to be! This can be fun for the new owner to fix up her own Ten Ping for a causal picnic set or going to town set!

How clever the way you made the shoes and figured out how to size them! I don/t think I could even figure out how to do that!

I think the flip on the hat is kind of cute! I too, wouldn’t worry about it.

She is all ready for a fun weekend, and I hope everyone here also has one! Looks like the weather will finally cooperate for us in the Midwest!

All I can say about the shoes is we are talking miniature here. Trying to make something so small from leather is quite the challenge. Just throwing this out, but is it worth the time and effort? A tiny pair of pleather shoes can be purchased for I think about $15.00 or maybe less depending on the offering. That said, the shoes are very sweet on TP, and she wears them so nicely. I’m not sure about the star buttons on the hat. I guess I was thinking tiny flowers so the hat could be worn all summer and not just for the 4th.
With the busy time of year for many, checking for new dolly dresses may not be number one. I’m sure bids will come in before the auction end. The regency dress is lovely. 🙂

That is adorable! You have really tied it together with the stars on the hat and shoes. I like the latest version better. That is one cute ensemble!

Dear Jeanne, I think the shoes came out well. And as you say, you can use the others for a different doll. So it’s all win-win! Ten Ping looks adorable.

  6. Shoes are always a plus to have especially when they match the dress so well!🥰
Love the hat and the brim is nice turned up. So now it is the dress….the slip….the pantaloons….the hat….the shoes…and a cute scarf. Anyone with a Ten Ping would be amazed.
Hope you have a great weekend.
We are off to the cemetery…at least the Peonies, daisies and roses are blooming…then a softball game to watch our Grand pitch.

The navy ribbon was what I thought might work, but it seems a little somber for Ten Ping. Would a paisley band be prettier? Joy’s idea — adding flowers — might add to the summery feel. Stars and flowers? Cream flowers on the blue band? A few gold beads? And a gold bead on a purse. You can’t convince me that Ten Ping just hates purses. I love the shoes — the paisley soles are so cute, and they do show when she sits. I’d love a picture of her in your pretty yard. The head scarf looks promising.
