I’m back home now and will have to get back in my routine. We had a really fun visit at Deb’s and we tried to fit in as much sister time as possible.
I’m going to show the pictures again of the shop we found on the last afternoon before we had to leave. It was really a fun store and had so many different booths with so maný interesting things to look at. We hurried through it but ended up not going back this mòrning before heading home.
If you have a laptop or desktop computer, you really should look at these pictures on them. You can enlarge them and really see all the details. I’m not sure if the glitch where you look at the pictures and then comment and then return to looking at them loses your comments or not still. So you might just want to just look and enlarge the pictures first… just sayin…
Several of you asked about a fèw things in the pictures I showed yesterday. I thought I’d try and answer…
That was a metal dollhouse you spied up high in that one picture. Since you all had been discussing dollhouses, I thought I’d snap a picture of it.
The little flocked birds several of you commented on, were the sweetest things. They were metal birds all sitting on a branch that had been flocked in a greenish blue color. I loved them but they were $39 or $49…I can’t remember…so I passed. The price tag you see in the picture was $1250… for the hutch they were sitting on.
Yes, those were paper lanterns up by the ceiling. The paper posters up on the ceiling were the prettiest floral and birds and botanical prints.
In some areas of the shop were upside down hanging umbrellas. It was a pretty place to walk around in. Almost every other booth had a beautiful chandelier hanging in it.
Here are the pictures I took… all of them.
Wasn’t that the greatest place ever? It would be a wonderful place to buy gifts for someone… or YOURSELF! :o)
We also stopped at a very nice greenhouse called Schaffitzel’s… it was pretty big too…
I wonder if any of you know what this plant is called? I called it a jumbo rick rack plant? I should have asked…
I came home with this sweet plant..called Bolivian Jew. It’s so delicate and dainty! I love it!
Well, that’s it for today!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh, how nice–more pictures of that fabulous store! I enjoyed the towels with funny sayings–I liked “shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden” in the first batch and the “Cleaning fairy will be here any time” in the second batch! Also liked the lamp with the purple shade, and a couple of those umbrellas.. I just don’t carry an umbrella any more, though–I have a cross-body purse and I carry a cane, and if I used an umbrella, I wouldn’t have an empty hand for packages or opening doors! So, since I live in Rain Country (Seattle area), most of my coats and jackets have hoods!!
Joy, I sure enjoyed your latest doll caper!! And Barbara, I hope you’ll share pictures of your new vanity when it’s all done!
Oh my goodness, Jeanne! I could be here all day commenting on this and that! Such wonderful pictures chock full of things to talk about ! First, though, I absolutely live that curio cabinet with the opened door and a cute scene with a lamp inside! Wouldn’t that be a perfect place to display a dolly scene? Not just dolls on a shelf, which looks like they took out, but a scene with the dolls doing different things and one you could change out periodically.
Then those towels! I too like the one about shopping with husbands! How very true that is!
That rick-rac plant is really different! I have never seen anything like that either, so have no idea what it is! That last picture of the plant you bought, the Bolivian Jew plant, looks like a miniature
Wandering Jew plant, except it is a much lighter color. Wandering Jew is more of a deep purple, but does have some pink undertones. The leaves are very similar.
I cannot imagine leaving that store without buying something! Did Cindy and Deb find anything?
Oh for heavens sakes, I mean “love” the curio cabinet! How did I miss that?
What a wonderful store. I’ve seen similar ones, but nothing nearly that good. We have some good antique shows — or did pre-pandemic, but this outdoes them. I’m glad you could combine sister time with shopping like this and that you all enjoy the same things.
I was immediately taken by the varied use of lighting in each booth. So many ways to add some sparkle to everyday items. Hummm
I too was drawn to those funny towels. They would make such fun gifts. I was addicted to the Hokey Pokey, but I turned myself around is my favorite because in my teaching days when everyone got wiggly, we’d start in with the HP and the class next door would open the adjoining door and hop right in. We did have fun. 🙂
I know where I’ll be this afternoon, perusing Jeanne’s great photos much more closely.
I managed a few minutes of alone time yesterday and was able to free Josephine from her box. She was standing around in her undies and bald for awhile, and not happy about it at all. So, I dressed her in a cute outfit and put on her beautiful curly red wig. Now, she is sporting a shy smile. 🙂 I’ll see if I can get a pic of her as she reminds me of Anne of Green Gables.
Thanks everyone for the nice comments from yesterday. Thank goodness there are no pending arrivals around here for awhile at least. 🙂
The store tour was more fun the second time around. Soooo many things to look at! The towels are a hoot and I still love the blue birds the best. Yes, the lamp inside the cabinet was a great idea….could be like a little doll house inside it.
Glad you are home😃
Dear Jeanne, what fun it was to “shop” with you and your sisters.
My favorite towel was the one about “0% of me cooking.” That’s pretty much the theme in this house (laugh). Luckily the dolls don’t mind.
All I can say is “wow!”… so many pretty things! Thanks for sharing.
What a fun store. I would love looking through all of it. I’ll have to really browse the pictures later/over the weekend as I have things that must be done while the sun shines.
That curio cabinet is lovely. I also like the botanical and animal posters. The towels are the best. “Don’t ever let anyone dull your sparkle”.
That Bolivian Jew plant is lovely. I have Wandering Jew in the yard and absolutely love it… blue flowers, you know.
Jeanne, the plant is a rick rack cactus and has lovely flowers and evening fragrance. You should have bought it. I typed in rick rack plant and found this link.

I’m definitely going to have to spend some more time with the pictures. So much to see and they definitely need enlarging to catch it all. I like the towel that asks why they want dinner every night. I think subconsciously I believe that since somewhere around 5 p.m. I realize I haven’t planned a thing for dinner. By myself I would just grab some fruit and cheese but that does not meet the expectation of my hubby. It used to be worse when he worked by himself because some days he would skip lunch. Sean insists on regular meals so David is no longer famished when he shows up for dinner and is more patient while I try to pull something together. Cooking is not my bailiwick. My mother loved to cook and surprisingly so do both my children. Sean’s so good at it he could open a restaurant.
I will send a picture of my new bathroom vanity once everything is finished. The plumbing is taking longer than expected so I’m still brushing my teeth at the kitchen sink. Right now David and Sean are finishing up at the church so hopefully the plumbing problems will be fixed this afternoon. The vanity was built in David’s shop and with all the measurements they took there are still a couple things that need rethinking. But it is beautiful.
We have been living for about 31 years with the cheap tiny thing with three drawers that were more like half drawers that the previous owners installed just before they sold the house. I have no idea what was in there before. The current vanity has been in the works nearly since the beginning. We have an aisle bathroom which could definitely stand to be a foot wider. That’s the problem with buying an older home. Our home was built in 1945 and requirements by homeowners were much different back then. We’ve done other remodeling with the bathroom but changing the width has never been an option without a major redo of half the house. Bottom line is the new vanity fills up the bathroom and I noticed today it is higher than the previous one which I actually love so there are visuals involved that will take getting used to. To me a bathroom should look nice but is utilitarian rather than a luxury item (opposite of my son’s belief), so as long as all the parts work I don’t stress over the size much. Taking a picture might be a little tricky but I think I can do it.
What a fun place to wander round. When I went to UK in 2015 my brother took me to our old hometown (Grantham in Lincolnshire, Margaret Thatcher’s birthplace, I even went to the same high school!). One of the places we went to was our old primary school and that had been turned into a similar sort of store. So pleased you had such a fun time with your sisters. Not sure if I will get to see my sister again.

Joy it was such fun reading your post re Josephine. You should write a book.
Barbara, I hope you have your new vanity, you deserve it after waiting 30+ years! My house is nearly as old as yours but the previous owners renovated it. They made the kitchen bigger, used half of the bathroom as a laundry alcove and made the bathroom only big enough for a shower, toilet, basin (no vanity) and a tall, narrow open shelf unit. No bath and barely enough room for me and the cat let alone swing her lol. Now there are five using the bathroom it is very noticeably too small!!!!
Great to hear from you Anne. Covid getting better out your way? Sounds like you need to add on another bathroom or reclaim the laundry alcove. Maybe the W/D can go elsewhere? 🙂
Dear Anne, thanks for checking in. We are all wishing you well.
