Linda got a new dolly! Linda got a new dolly! She is just adorable and a big surprise to anyone who knows Linda… She’s pretty much a one size doll gal… American Girl dolls to be exact… “except” for 14″ Betsy McCall…
BUT… I got a fun email from Linda and this is what she said…
Jeanne, here she is, Emmy Ling, little sister of Ivy!
I was trying to decide what doll to get, since I knew I wanted someone for Betsy to play with. She has so many clothes to share, and I was thinking maybe a RRFF Sara, who I love, but opted instead for an American Girl Wellie Wishers doll that could be a little sister to Ivy.
She is Emerson, but I like the name Emmy better. I guess I picked “cute” over “beautiful” (Sara)! Anyway, I’m happy, plus she didn’t break the bank, although she is new. I dressed her in one of Betsy’s knit outfits and she looks cute in that. It reminds me of Alina’s doll dresses she makes.
Love to you,
Linda
I’m so happy for you and new Emmy, Linda! You will enjoy her so much… but probably not as much as Betsy! :o) Thanks for sharing!
Well, I managed to get Kirsten’s dirndl listed and I just so happened to use the name Linda suggested too… Swedish Sweetness. I think I’ve used that before, but it fit well and I needed a name quickly to get my listing finished. I also changed the waistband of the apron because Sally mentioned she wasn’t thrilled with a knot back there… and Joy inspired my story about going to town… she didn’t get a sugar stick, but she may have and just didn’t tell me! :o) Thanks ladies!
Oh, and Marilyn, I didn’t make her stockings…
You can click on the picture at the right side bar to see it, or your can click HERE…
I better go see who gets the next outfit from me! They are all clamoring to be chosen…
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Where is Charlotte? I guess I will start off and will say that I like the snap/button closure on the apron much better than the knot! Yes, that would be hard for some people to open a knot, then have to tie one again. Perfect solution, thanks to Sally. Kirsten looks so real and in what I would consider a girl back in those days would be wearing. I’m not one for modernizing doll clothes to please little girls! I think the “little girls” in this case might be a bit older and wiser! 😉
Thank you for showing Emmy, Jeanne. She is happily settling in here and has already had a clothing change! She’s now a Brownie selling Girl Scout cookies with her big sister, Ivy. I don’t think i will ever grow up!!!
Dear Linda, your girls are adorable. I am sure they will be best friends.
Ivy’s little sister is adorable and the two girls look so cute together. Emmy and Betsy will become best friends, I’m sure. Perhaps they are both out selling Girl Scout cookies! What a cute picture, Linda!
Hi Linda,
Your comments were written at 5:40 and still, you were second!!
Maybe Charlotte slept in… :o)
Glad you like the snap in the back better…me too. I guess we are both “little girls” along with probably everyone else on this blog!!
So Emmy is selling Girl Scout cookies now….how fun to get her involved right from the start!!
So happy you got her, Linda!
Blessings, Jeanne
Dear Jeanne, yeaaa, you got the outfit listed.
What will you work on next? Maybe it will be an outfit that ties into Women’s History Month in March. Hmmm.
We were all just saying “Happy New Year” and now we are preparing to say “good-bye” to February. I really do feel that time is moving at warp speed, as they said on Star Trek.
Hi Dorothy,
I’m in my sewing room right now looking at dolls and fabrics… my favorite!!
Time truly is cruising by so quickly… I can’t believe how fast!!
Thank you, Dorothy,
Blessings, Jeanne
A big congrats to Linda on Emerson aka Emmy. I really think that she is a perfect choice to be a little sis for Ivy and a playmate for adorable Betsy. I would love to see the girls dressed in their Brownie/Girl Scout outfits. In fact, we just bought cookies from our grand the other day. 🙂
The apron tie fix suggested by Sally looks great and will definitely be an easier closure.
Another sunny day here in northern CA. We’ve been without rain for over 40 days. Hope those getting weather stay warm and safe.
Hi Joy,
I’m hoping for the girls in Brownie outfits too. That will make one adorable scene!!
We got so much rain today, it actually started pouring down the walls and across the floor in my sewing room!!! I think we’ll have to call the roofing company and have them check out that spot…
40 days without rain… I can’t even imagine…
Thanks Joy,
Blessings, Jeanne
Dear Jeanne,
Thank you. I am so relieved you did not let that knot and the raw edges of the apron tie leave your sewing room because, my dear, it was way beneath you, your skills, and your incredible quality. I tip my hat to you. Well done.
Linda, that doll is really, really perfect as a sister for Ivy. I was so sad to see Ivy leave the AG squad. Congratulations and, like Joy, I would dearly love to see the Girl Scout theme. Your dolls sure live in the right house for high living! 👍👏😁 Congratulations!
Joy, I do hope you get some rain before long. We got about two inches of snow last night. It will be gone in another two or three days…just dicey walking today.
Hugs to all, and again, Jeanne, thank you. If I were starting all over with providing clothes for my AGs, I would be right in there bidding. It’s a stunner! Bless you!
Hi Sally,
Thank YOU for bringing it to my attention…much better…I agree!
I’m sure Linda is already thinking of ideas for her sisters in their Brownie outfits… it will be wonderful I’m sure…
Thank you Sally,
Blessings, Jeanne
Swedish Sweetness is probably one of my all time favorites! Everything about it is top notch. Glad you changed the back of the apron….Kirsten won’t have a lump there when she sits down☺️
Linda that little Emmy is adorable and the crocheted outfit just looks perfect on her! It’s OK to be a Brownie for a while but hope she gets back in her crocheted outfit asap. I just love Asian dolls too.i
Hi Kathie,
I’m glad you like Kirsten’s dress so much…someone earlier this morning liked it too!! :o)
I know Linda is having fun with Emmy…and I bet her sisters are enjoying her bring there too.
Thank you Kathie,
Blessings, Jeanne
I liked the knot but the new closure will be easier to manage and look neater in the hands of most of us.
What worried me was the lack of an accessory, but you found a lovely covered basket. Now people will know that this is an authentic Jeanne Marie.
Linda’s new Emmy is charming in her new outfit — I’m so glad Betsy has someone to share clothes and fun with.
WE have 6 or 7 inches of new snow here but have sent the storm east so the snow can begin melting. We should have several days of sun next.
Hi Marilyn,
I’m glad I changed the knot to a snap… it seems like its a better fix for everyone.
The basket is really an interesting style and I think, perfect for Kirsten…
Snow again…I hope we are finished with it… we have had TONS of rain today…so much, in fact, my sewing room walls started pouring in water… but I got it all sopped up…
Thanks Marilyn,
Blessings, Jeanne
I know Linda thought long and hard about which doll would make the best playmate for Ivy. Perfect choice! The dress is perfect as well. She’ll have quite a wardrobe to choose from as Betsy has a very beautiful collection of clothes to share. Nice to know they fit so well.
The apron looks great now and I’m sure there will be a bidding war for any Kirsten dress that you create, Jeanne.
Hi Susette,
Emmy has no idea how blessed she is to be adopted by Linda and all her girls. I’m guessing it won’t take long for her to realize that!
Thank you for your kind words, Susette!
Blessings, Jeanne
Linda, what a good choice for a sister for Ivy and a friend for Betsy. I love the Wellie dolls. I only have Camille because I was looking for a sister for my 18″ MA Gracie and they looked a lot alike but I would really love to have another. They are all so cute it is hard to choose but your choice of Emerson (Emmy) was a great one. I can’t decide between Emerson and Kendall so I haven’t bought either yet. It will be fun seeing Betsy and Emmy wearing Betsy’s wonderful clothes. Every time I see a picture of Betsy I fall in love with whatever she’s wearing. Since my poor Betsy has to wait for me to sew something for her, her wardrobe is a bit deficient and one of the dresses I made for her needs to be taken apart and redone. I’ve never seen construction like this pattern called for and I didn’t pull it off well so I need to try again.
I like the change to the back of the apron myself. I didn’t have a problem with the “tie” aspect of the other but it looked to me like you ran out of trim and just said whatever even though I know you would never do that. Now it looks perfect.
i will be praying for rain for Joy and that the people having winter weather don’t lose their heat. I always hate to hear that people going through winter storms have lost power and so they are in the cold. That’s the problem we had last winter. We’re kicking around getting a generator. We rarely lose power but in the case of a hurricane we could lose it for days.
Up to 80 by afternoon today but by supper time it will be in the 50s. It will be in the 30s tonight.
Then 60s for couple days and then gradually warming again. Crazy.
Hi Barbara,
The Wellie Wishers really are sweet little dolls and do make great little sisters for the 18″ dolls.
Ugh…a pattern direction dilemma…the worst! What pattern is it..maybe I can take a look…
We had hard rain all day… even poured down the walls in my sewing room… I wasn’t happy…
Its supposed to get down to 18 tonight, so all the water puddles will be frozen little ponds… plus the winds are blowing and the wind chill is 19 right now…
Well, dinner is calling me…
Thanks Barbara,
Blessings, Jeanne
Hello ladies!, I’m just popping in to say thank you all for your wonderful comments on my new little .Emmy. While she does fit in many of Betsy’s clothes, her shoulders are a bit wider, so not everything fits her, but enough things do…..for awhile! The one big thing is her feet are wider than Betsy’s so I am ordering her new shoes, and socks too, since her legs stretch out Betsy’s socks and tights. I’m not a fan of the plastic shoes she came in, so I’d rather wait for her to have proper shoes and socks before any more pictures are taken.
And where is Charlotte??
Betsy and her cousin, Taylor Jane, have their own shoe box because their feet don’t let them share with others. Needless to say they are okay with that. But the joy of having a Wellie, if your into the shoe thing, is that the choices are endless and everywhere. I agree the boots are cute, but Emmy will definitely need more in the way of a shoe wardrobe.
Hi Linda,
Emmy is one fortunate little girl to have been picked by you!! I’m so happy for you and all your girls!!!
Thanks for sharing!!
I haven’t heard from Charlotte….
Blessings, Jeanne
So glad you took Sally’s advice and changed the apron, Jeanne Now it looks “finished”. The whole outfit is very sweet.
Congratulations, Linda, on your lovely new girl Emmy. Ivy is thrilled to have a little sister and Betsy a new playmate. I, too, would love to see the Girl Scout theme. I have fond memories of Brownies and then Girl Scouts. Still have my badges/ pins somewhere.
Hi Laura,
I’m glad I changed the belt back too…much better.
I have some great memories of being in Brownies and Girl Scouts too…
Emmy is in for some great memories herself!
Thanks Laura,
Blessings, Jeanne
All of these Brownie’s and Girl Scouts. I was a proud Blue Bird and Camp Fire girl! Grand is a Brownie and loves it. Like Laura, I still have my vest and all of the beads and emblems.
Definitely getting worried at not hearing from Charlotte. Hope there isn’t a problem.
HI Joy,
I just finished writing Friday’s post and thought I’d check one more time before I went to bed to see if she had commented… not yet… maybe we’ll know tomorrow.
Blessings, Jeanne
