JUST A REMINDER: “Little Touches,” the dress for 10″ Boneka dolls, listed on Ebay, ends this evening. If you haven’t taken a look, you can do so by clicking the picture at the right side bar, or you can click HERE. I also picked up a SWEET TREAT to go with it. The winner will be in chocolate heaven! :o)
I’ll show you Nyssa’s dress in just a minute, but first a few pictures from the weekend… I captured the ice on some trees around the yard… I hope you can see it. Saturday when the sun came out, it looked like diamonds glistening everywhere! It truly was beautiful.
There is nothing left but soggy ground around here now… all the ice is gone!
I had to go back to the friends house whose pants I just altered for his daughter’s wedding… they needed a minor adjustment… anyway,
Sylvia, his wife, was “experimenting” with making the perfect Tiramisu cake… and she asked me if I’d like to give it a taste. (Are you kidding, did she EVEN need to ask?) Of course I said yes! It was so pretty I told her I’d take a picture of it and send it around the world! :o) It was delicious!
She was also making some little curry biscuits… she called them something, but I forgot the name… they looked wonderful. She was taking them to someone, so I didn’t take one of them… but they were beautiful too…
Okay, now back to Nyssa’s dress. (First, I wanted to add… Joy asked how tall Nyssa was… she’s about 17″ tall.) I added a blue band in the midsection of her dress to break up the print. It’s very busy and I didn’t want it to just look like a blob of flowers pasted on her. The band gives the dress some definition…
It was nice to take some pictures and have them turn out almost the color they really are… if anything, this fabric is just slightly brighter than my pictures show.
I had taken that wig off Nyssa when I showed that picture of her laying on this fabric… I left the braids in the wig and hadn’t used it since… (it was probably at least a year ago) and the wig was quite wavy now… I’ll have to figure out a pretty new hairstyle for her.
I found some fun tiny orange flower buttons in my stash and used them to make it a bit more whimsical…
I don’t have a stand for Nyssa and she is french resin and quite heavy, so I always have her sitting or leaning on something…
I think Anne said she couldn’t warm up to Nyssa… but if you had her, I think you could… she really is wonderful… only 84 made worldwide and I have one of them… :o)

Well that wraps up this Monday post…
See you tomorrow,

Oh, my, do those pictures of the ice-coated trees bring back memories! Ron and I were dating, and he wanted very much for me to meet his friends, the Stebbinses, down in Camas, so they invited us for the weekend. (They were an older, very fine Christian couple, very proper, and put us in bedrooms in opposite ends/floors of their house!) We went down Friday after Ron got off work, getting there late (about a 3-4 hour drive). The next morning we woke up to ice thickly coating all the trees….AND the streets! It was like they were covered with glass! We had to use almost-boiling water to melt ice off Ron’s car door so he could get in and start the car, to warm it up. Pulled THICK sheets (an inch or so) of ice off the convertible top!!
Well, of course, it was the Perfect time to shop for rings! 😂 Yup, we did, we got my ring set, Ron proposed, I accepted, and we got stuck on the ice on the way back to their house! “Mom” and “Dad” were the first ones we told, and they were honored guests at our wedding (and in all the family pictures) four months later.
Sylvia’s tiramisu cake and curry biscuits look wonderful! I will pass on the tiramisu, though, as it has coffee in it. 🤢 (Do Not like coffee!)
Nyssa’s dress is coming along beautifully! That blue band is such a nice touch–good call on that one. Love the little flower buttons down the back, too! Now for her hair, maybe a headband/bow that uses both fabrics, to hold her pretty hair back from her face? Maybe a little orange button on it, too, if you have an extra one? Not sure how you’ll incorporate it, but I know, if there’s a way, you’ll figure it out!
I see that Noel’s outfit has 8 bids now!! Might there end up a bidding war?!
Lots to comment on today, Jeanne! The ice……………it’s something we have been trying to get off the driveway for two days now! I think it is mostly gone, but what a chore using a flat-bottom shovel to scrape it off! My poor back! Your trees look beautiful, almost like fairyland!
Charlotte’s “ice story” sounds like something the Hallmark channel would feature!!
I have not had the pleasure of tasting tiramisu cake, but it looks so good! Ditto for the curry biscuits!! Lucky you!
Nyssa is not my type of doll, but the story of how you got her is so amazing, and to think that she is actually one of only 84 dolls AND given to you by her maker, makes her a very precious doll that you will cherish all that much more!
Her dress is perfect for her, and the blue band is just enough to add an extra touch of “something extra”. I also think a headband made of the blue, maybe with a bow attached would be sweet, depending on her hairstyle. A cute little purse in that same blue might be cute too!
Oh, the twinkling of ice. Looks like the fairies visited during the night. Beautiful.
Nyssa’s outfit is coming together. It’s a little long for me, but I think Nyssa likes it. The suggestions for a hairpiece sound great. Wouldn’t want to take away from the dress. I think your Nyssa is about the same size as my Wiggs girls. They have such great shoes for the MSD kids. Do you have some with a little heel for her? Might be cute with the sundress.
Your friend’s dessert and rolls look wonderful although, like Charlotte, not for me. Charlotte and I must be related in the way back machine. 🙂
I’ve been looking at vintage metal doll houses again. I think Linda has the Cohn colonial? Fun to see so many different models. Not like I need one though. 🙂
Joy, I have a Playsteel Colonial dollhouse. I got it, well, not THIS one, but one exactly like it for my birthday way back in 1947! Found the exact same one on EBay and got it, then filled it with Renwal furniture, just like I had in that dollhouse I received for my birthday. It sits on top of my dryer in my laundry room, and I fix it up from time to time, while waiting for clothes to dry! It sure takes me back!
Well, at least I got the Colonial right. 🙂 I have a Playsteel house, two story, but from the 50’s. Found it at a garage sale some time ago. It is just like the one I had as a kid. 🙂 No furniture yet though.
Hi Joy,
I haven’t forgotten about the ribbon embroidered dresses and have found the ones I mentioned in the storage boxes. I’ll hopefully get a few minutes for photos this week.
Can’t wait to see those dresses. Thanks so much for looking for them. 🙂
Can’t wait to see them!
Jeanne, the iced tree pictures looked beautiful. A little bit of Heaven’s winter. Without it being on the roads and driveways that is!
I haven’t read your links yet about Nyssa but will. Having one of 84 of those dolls makes her really special. This dress is so bright and cheery. The blue waistband really compliments it. Nyssa reminds me of a young college girl, a lot of homework on her mind but she’s dressed up to enjoy an evening out with friends. Perhaps a concert at the college auditorium.
Linda, congrats on winning the drawing for one of Jeanne’s slips. It’s always fun and exciting when Jeanne has these- these slips are wonderful. Slips I wish I could wear! You’ll have to let us know which girl you chose to have one.
Those desserts look interesting. I’ve had tiramisu at a few restaurants. It’s not my favorite but my husband loves it. There are two Italian restaurants we like that
specialize in tiramisu and it is very good. Your friend’s looks delicious. I have no idea what curry biscuits are but they look good too.
I hope the weather gets better for everyone, even though at times, the winter scenes can be beautiful!
Paula, Emmy is getting the new slip, and is thrilled!
Emmy will love it, especially since she’s little sister- no hand me downs! 😊
The ice was indeed lovely here is well. Where the sun hit the trees there were thousands of rainbows.. really like a fairy wonderland. It’s melted off here also. yesterday you could stand and hear the ice falling from the branches.
Tiramisu is delicious. There’s an Italian restaurant in the next town that we like and the tiramisu is wonderful as an indulgent dessert. I love it, but need to find a way to make one with less fat because the richness means you can’t eat much. Funny about the mention of coffee flavoring in desserts, coffee ice cream, and coffee candy, but not the drink by itself. I’m a tea lady. There are two Italian ice places in town and they have yummy Italian ice and spumone.
Nyssa’s dress is bright and cheerful. I will have to agree with others that she’s not my type of doll either. That’s why there are many dolls to choose from to please everyone. I do think the fact you like her and got one from her maker makes her special.
Noel’s picture in the dress she’s about to lose is so cute.
We don’t get ice on our trees but when it’s starting to snow, the thin layer of snow makes them look like lace.
Nyssa’s dress is lovely — the blue belt and the orange flower buttons are perfect. Could you make her some blue boots? He hair looks very pretty as is, but you are good with hair and can undoubtedly come up with something even prettier. A blue headband with a couple of orange flowers might work, or — a blue kerchief? Our Farmer’s Market starts April 2 — of course, it will snow that month, so Nyssa might need her own fur coat instead.
Jeanne a couple of times this week I haven’t received your email. I have been able to find the blog by clicking on the previous email and scrolling down to ‘previous posts’.
I really enjoyed reading about how you got Nyssa and about your wonderful friend who lent you hers. I also loved the earlier outfits you made for her. As Laura said, we all have different dolls that we like and for you to have received her from the maker makes her even more special.
So I guess Nyssa won’t be up for sale any time soon. Just kidding of course. You are very fortunate to have two dolls, that I know of, that came from the creators themselves. I was late to the Little Darling party and it was impossible to get one painted by Dianna since the site was always closed for orders when I tried. I got one painted by Geri Uribe but could never get another from her. Then I found Magalie and have really enjoyed ordering from her. It’s as close to instant gratification as you can get for a Little Darling.
Speaking of Magalie, I contacted her about whether she would be designing additional clothes or creating patterns for the Little Dreamers. Her clothes are very avant-garde and I told her I wanted to continue dressing my Evianna in Magalie attire. She told me that the Little Dreamers are a series created by Dianna with the idea of them being little sisters for the LDs. She said there would be more down the road and she would be doing the costuming. I ordered the first in the series and she should be here in March. I would love if the faces were hand painted, but they would definitely be more expensive and take longer to arrive. I’ll see what I think when Evianna arrives.
I love Nyssa’s dress – and the many other outfits you have made for her. She wears clothes so well and they fit to perfection. I think I’ll just admire your Nyssa and the wonderful outfits you make for her from afar.
I love seeing snow and ice on trees and bushes, especially if the sun is shining. But I remember one year when I was working and we had one of our ice storms that the people at work were furious because they feared damage to many of their trees and shrubs since most of them were not acclimated to that kind of weather. They took precautions for what they could but their trees were losing limbs. It was a very noisy and stressful day at the office.
After days of gloom and cold it is sunny and bright and in the 60s today. A perfect day. Wish there was a way to bottle it for future use.
That was fun to read about how Nyssa came to live with you and the rest of her story. Such a kind, true friend from California to lend you her doll right after she got it and spent so much money on it. The creator of Nyssa sounds like such a nice person, too. I also like your writing dot dot dot style (like it was mentioned in the comments) 🙂 It was fun to see the creative dresses you made for the dolls.
