~ Winter Wonder ~ Chrissa’s Snow Leopard coat is now listed on Ebay…

My sister’s and I did a little shopping, but to tell you the truth, the stores were EMPTY… the cases were bare and some of them only had 2 or 3 items in a big glass case about 6′ long. I guess all their merchandise is still on ships somewhere. We tried but we all came up pretty empty handed… so we spent most of our time visiting…which is what I enjoy the most with them. We laughed at stories we each told and just remembered old times like they were yesterday.

I was hoping we might get even a light dusting of snow so I could take Chrissa outside in her coat for pictures, but it didn’t happen. There is a chance of snow tomorrow evening, but I didn’t want to wait another day, so I just listed it inside.

I think this might be my favorite American Girl doll coat I’ve ever made. Maybe it’s just the way Chrissa looks in it. I do think she is very pretty in it.

If you want to take a look at the listing on Ebay, you can click on the picture at the right side bar, or you can click HERE.

Well, sorry this is short… too long at the computer today…
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Chrissa looks very elegant in her new ensemble, Jeanne. Another winner, for sure!

Glad you had a good day with your sisters, even though the stores were kind of empty. I think a lot of places are like that now–out our way, we had a week of snow/cold weather, and that kept trucks off the road, so there were definitely some “holes” in the grocery-store shelves today!

Our snow is finally melting–the driveway, in fact, is bare and wet! We’ve had rain off and on all day (very light rain, thank goodness!). The basement is drying out–we just get a little “stream” running thru the basement. Thank goodness it’s not the entire thing! Been there, did that once, when the mortar from the fireplaces was disintegrating on the outside! We got it tuck-pointed, and that took care of the problem, but for a while, there, it did give a new meaning to the term “pool table” (as in, over a pool!!).

We still have some slush on our street, but the main roads are bare and wet, and driving is pretty easy, for the most part! I love the snow, and I don’t mind driving in it, but when it gets to the icy/slushy stage, it’s not so much fun any more. We have way too many big long hills around here!!

In other news: Freida is due Saturday!

Good morning, Jeanne, and Sofa Sisters! What a lovely bunch of pictures of Chrissa and the beautiful coat and accessories that you have taken! Some doll is going to be nice and warm,….and stylish too!

After looking at pictures of your Chrissa, Jeanne, I am wondering if she is a custom, or did you change her in any way? The new GOTY has painted eyelashes and looks like your Chrissa does too. Also, is that a different wig? It seems longer than what AG originally gave her, but I could be wrong.

Back to taking down Christmas decorations! Today is the 12 th day of Christmas, after all, and the feast of the Epiphany. Since I have a LOT to take down, I am starting on the early side.

I’m not surprised that you didn’t find much at the stores when shopping with your sisters, since stores were pretty empty the week before Christmas too!

Chrissa’s coat is lovely. Chrissa looks lovely in it. and I think it would look nice on Corinne, for those who have the new AG GOTY.

I think Janie’s brown mink may be my favorite — brown is a warm color and Janie is modeling it very well.

I had heard that omicron might disrupt supply lines — apparently it’s doing it. We’re up for more snow, but only 3 inches. I don’t like asking delivery people to make deliveries in bad weather.

Perhaps if it snows tomorrow, you could still get pictures of Chrissa in the snow for us and your records. Do you know what we need — the annual slideshow of your year’s production.

Well, I sure jumped the gun! It is not the feast of the Epiphany today, but it’s tomorrow! However, there is no way I will have things all put away any time soon, so I might as well get started!

Good morning Jeanne and Sofa Sisters,

Jeanne, this is really a most remarkable set and does, I agree, look fabulous on this doll. I was surprised, like Linda above, when you said this was Chrissa. My Chrissa, an original, has much shorter straight black hair. Very blue eyes and black hair like yours. Just curious, like Linda. Good luck with this auction; I am sure the appeal will be huge.

Charlotte, so happy to hear your Freida will be with you on Saturday. She is just so, so pretty and different from all the others. And is Saturday your birthday or Friday? Best gift ever!

Ruby Red announced this morning that they have an Oriental doll, Dawn, limited to 100 pieces, going on sale Saturday the 8th, 10 am Eastern. She has the Luca mold which is a bit pouty, a gorgeous dress, earrings, an elaborate hairbow and hair accessories, and the strangest pale, pale eyes, not what one would expect for a doll representing the Orient. They did not say the price, if she was available only to the US, or when they expected to ship. I wrote a comment taking them to task about the lack of these details. After buy two limited editions in July and not getting them until very late December and first of January, I find myself a little ticked off with that M.O.

Time to get a move on. Have fun taking down decorations; ours will be up a couple more weeks for the hubby. Have a wonderful day.

Actually, Sally, my birthday isn’t until the 28th! I’m just getting a jump on the birthday shopping! 😂🤣😂

I forgot to mention yesterday how much I love the scarf you made for the coat ensemble. Can’t wait to see how this auction turns out since so many have 18″ AG dolls and I’m sure will want this. I see a huge bidding war in your future, if anyone has any money left after Christmas.

We’ve been very fortunate here regarding product availability. Our local grocery store has stayed well stocked through all this. I love to shop there because it is small, and they give seniors a discount on Tuesday. And the prices are actually comparable to Wal-Mart. Our Wal-Mart has actually stayed better stocked than usual. The store is just down the road from a distribution center and it has often in the past been devoid of the products I’m looking for. Never could figure that out. Neither could other people since I often heard people mumbling about empty shelves for certain products. I did most of my Christmas shopping online and had no trouble with things arriving on time, often earlier than predicted.

No trouble here remembering the Feast of the Epiphany. It’s my hubby’s birthday. It’s always interested me that my birthday is at the beginning of the twelve days of Christmas and David’s is at the end. I never start taking things down until after his birthday. I like having the festive atmosphere for both our birthdays. Friday I will have Sean go around and disconnect the lights and then sometime next week we will take them down. We have had these lights for years and some strings need replacing so we are going to throw all of them away this year and next year go with all LED strings. As well as using less energy the strings are longer and we don’t have to think so much about the logistics of being able to plug them in. As for my tree and village, well I’m never in a toot to take them down. They are not in the way and I often don’t get to really enjoy them until after the holidays are over. I just close the blinds in the dining room and privately continue to enjoy my tree and village. I do reach a point where it’s time to put them up until next Christmas. The mother of the former priest of our church used to leave her tree up all year. She loved it and it wasn’t in the way. I thought maybe she decorated it seasonally, but she didn’t. She just kept the Christmas ornaments on it all year.

Since we postponed our New Year’s Eve dinner with Sean and family at Texas Roadhouse this year, we decided to go tomorrow evening on David’s birthday. I hope his endurance is up to it. We will be going around 5 pm so hopefully will not have a crowd to contend with.

Wren Chrysalis Waterfall Fantasy arrived Monday. She is lovely. It looked to me like she had never been out of the box. She was in perfect condition. I love her shoes. They are small heels. Her feet flex so she can wear heels or flats. I haven’t seen that since I had a ballerina doll when I was young. Her feet flexed so she could point her toes. I got the notice yesterday that Freida was on the way. I need a bigger dolly room.

    1. Hi Barbara,That’s so neat about your and your hubby’s birthdays. Somehow I missed that, so I hope yours was lovely. My daughter’s was Monday, the 3rd and since Christmas decorations come down on the 7th since we leave them up through Epiphany she always had Christmas decorations and then birthday decor in her bedroom and the dining room.
Congratulations on your new Wren doll, would love to see a picture of her.
The tree all year sounds fun. I used to switch the sun room tree from Christmas to snowflakes/snowmen and then hearts and doves for Valentine’s, but that was years ago when I had more time.

      1. Barbara in SE Texas

Isn’t it funny what we used to do when we were busy raising children and some of us were working? I think it’s more an energy thing. I used to put my Christmas decorations up in a weekend and now it sometimes takes me more than a week to get it done. I love your idea of snowmen and snowflakes after Christmas and hearts and doves for Valentine’s. Tell your daughter Happy Belated Birthday for me. I will send a picture of Wren so everyone can see her soon I hope. Right now she’s meeting all her roommates and that could take awhile.

  7. Hi Ingrid, I’ve been swamped, but finally had the time to look at the house you are considering. Yes, a larger yard would be nice, but the house is lovely. I’m a Victorian house lover, other favorite is Antebellum/Civil War style. The enclosed room at the top is fantastic. I would claim that for myself.

Glad you had fun with your sisters, Jeanne. The stores were probably all picked over from Christmas.
Chrissa looks wonderful in her coat set. Some doll will be nice and warm. The face up she come with makes her stand out. Love the little puppy she has.
Marilyn beat me to the punch. I was planning after Chrissa’s coat was finished to remind you it was time to see all the creations of 2021 and vote for our favorite. I know it was a heavy RRFF year. 🙂

Loved seeing the pup peeking out from the scarf. Just what I envisioned. Chrissa is one lucky dolly in that lovely coat.
Started the day with the water backing up in the shower. Never a good thing. No time even for creme rinse. We did our usual figuring where the plug might be and after narrowing it down, called our plumber to run the line. Only problem, there is not enough side access to bring in the equipment to the back yard for this line. So, we went into action and moved half of the stuff in the living room so he could bring his machine right through the middle of the house. Only way to do that line. Of course, I laid down towels all across the living room and fortunately, he had a helper to get the beast up our 13 brick front steps. Last time other person helped him. He was very happy to see the helper. Anyway, got some Catalpa roots out of the line and we’re back to normal except for the huge pile of towels to wash. So was the day around here.
