Yep, I did it again… cut out one more coat and got it made up. It was just listed on Ebay… and you can see it by clicking the picture at the right side bar or you can click HERE.
I made another one for the Dianna Effner, Little Darlings dolls. This is the same gray faux fur I used for Ruby Red Fashion Friends, Stella’s coat a few days ago.
Since Lian is a bit smaller than the Ruby Red Fashion Friends, it looks like a “lot of coat” on her, but really it’s not. It’s such a soft fabric and is light as a feather. Lian looks like a little Eskimo girl to me! I just love her!
I added a pair of the silvery thigh highs with this set and also, Clyde, her new friend. He was an ornament I found on sale at Joann Fabrics. I thought he looked like a good “accessory” for Lian’s coat.
I also mentioned in the listing, if this coat reaches the $90 mark or higher, I will make a sweet little muff and send it to the winner as well.
I am trying to get all of the Christmas things put away in my sewing room… and that FUR is all over everything once again! Oh well, at least it’s not dirt! :o)
My sisters and their hubby’s are coming in sometime toward the end of the week. I can’t wait!!! :o)
Well, that’s it for me… I was scrambling trying to get this set listed, so now I need to play catch up on several things!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
You’ve done it again, Jeanne!! Merry in Mink has 6 bids, Fluffy Fur already has one!! They are so lovely!
How nice that your sisters and their hubbies are coming this week! I know you’ll enjoy having them around.
We got a call at 6:45 this morning–no church today because of snow! SNOW?! Snow!! We ended up with about 6″, and some areas got more. I know that, in the much flatter Midwest, that doesn’t sound like much, but in the Seattle area, with it’s lonnnnnggg steeeeeeep hills, even an inch or so of snow can paralyze the area. You can’t go Anywhere without having to go down or–worse–UP a hill! Fortunately between our house and the post office and grocery store, the hills are pretty gentle slopes, so I can get there if I need to. I’m going to wait another couple of days before I head out, though, as I will have to do a little shoveling first, or I won’t be able to get into my car.
It’s 21° here tonight, which is exceptionally cold for our area, and we aren’t expected to “thaw out” until Saturday! Well, we shall see about that! They’ve been wrong before!
I was wondering if you were getting any of the snow. The weather report I saw just mention northern California and Nevada but it seemed pretty widespread to me. Stay safe!
Hi Charlotte, I thought of you (and my nephew and his family) while I was watching the news last night on TV I saw all the snow and wondered how you were doing!
HI Charlotte,
Yes, it appears the coats are just what everyone was looking for… or waiting for, I should say! I’m having fun thinking of new ways to make a few more… glad you like them and are keeping up on the “stats” of them… right now the gray one I just listed last night has 19 watchers and 170 hits, and the brown one on Janie has 31 watchers and 317 hits! Looks like some Little Darlings won’t be cold much longer!
Speaking of cold, glad you got some snow…I think you said you “like” snow, right?
I hope you stay safe if and when you do go out!
Thanks Charlotte,
Blessings, Jeanne
Dear Charlotte, I told your namesake, Charlotte Noelle, that you had snow.
The first thing she asked was if you were going to build a snowlady. I told her I didn’t know. Then she asked if you were going sledding. I told her I didn’t know. Finally she asked if you were going to have hot chocolate. I told her I didn’t know. Then she gave me that “I would like some” look. Honestly that girl! (chuckle).
(laughing) HI Dorothy, and Charlotte Noelle! No, I haven’t been out in the snow yet, but hope to tomorrow. I probably won’t build a snow lady (I have good boots, but I don’t have snowpants any more, and you really need snowpants if you are going to be tromping around, rolling giant snowballs!), and I definitely won’t go sledding (although I did go sledding a lot when I was a young girl, and even owned my own ice skates!) because I’m a Grandma, and grandmas have kind of fragile bones. As to hot chocolate, Charlotte Noelle can have mine, as I’m not fond of it. I like chocolate, just prefer it in candy, cake and cookies!! (Hope I didn’t give her any more ideas!!)
Good for you, Jeanne, on another pretty coat! They certainly have been hits and so nice for you to be able to get them together without all the hesitiation of what to add or not to add! It’s wonderful to get something made without all the stress and to get it listed, and better yet, SOLD, in record time!
Charlotte, I know snow can be very intimidating, but isn’t it beautiful when looking out at it, and seeing all the twinkling Christmas lights too? I have a friend in Seattle, who has a couple of young grandsons, and their dilemma is “do I play with the Legos Santa left me , or play in the snow”? They did both! Be careful when out shoveling though!
HI Linda,
It HAS been fun doing the coats lately! I am planning on a few for the AG dolls now… I can’t leave them out! :o)
My phone says we might get snow Saturday night…it’s supposed to get down to 27 degrees. I’m glad for the weather we have been having… I just hope my sisters don’t get stuck in bad weather and can’t come here! :o(
We used to play in the snow until we were soaked to the bone… don’t know how we did that.. I guess it’s just in the DNA of kids! :o)
Thanks Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
My first thought was of you, Charlotte, when I heard about the snow. Glad you were prepared and don’t have to go out soon. Hire someone to clear the snow?
Love the fur 🧥 coats. Glad you’ll be having visitors soon. I saw so many Christmas ornaments that are dogs. Surely there’s one like Rueben. I sent ones that look like Domino and Max, the Goldendoodles that are part of my son’s family in Texas. Store up energy to enjoy visitors,Jeanne.
Hi Susette,
I’m glad you like the fur coats! Today I’m going to try and get one made for the AG girls… they’re feeling neglected.
I think we have 3 or 4 Schnauzer ornaments. Rebecca and Karn got us one when they were on their honeymoon in WV.
I am planning on visiting with them as many hours of the day as I can! :o) :o)
Thanks Susette,
Blessings, Jeanne
I would love to see a pic of Charlotte’s snow. Around here in northern, CA, both major highways to the Sierra’s are closed due to whiteout conditions. Have no idea when those anxious skiers might be able to make it up. Ski resorts were also closed yesterday. We too are in for that very cold weather in the next few days. Snow only on the high peaks around here. Burr.
The new LD coat is perfect for the weather we’re having. It looks so cozy and warm.
I was so happy to finish the little dress for grand’s RRFF girl, that those for the girls here went by the wayside. So, hopefully, after we clean up from last night’s heavy rain, I can work on them. Maybe the Christmas dresses will be done by Valentine’s Day. Hee hee.
HI Joy,
It’s sounding like winter is trying to butt into our lovely December weather we have been having… sounds like it has already arrived at other places! I’m not a cold weather person… but my hubby is!
Lian really does look cozy in it, doesn’t she?
I’m planning on showing your dress for Landry tomorrow… It was adorable!
Happy Sewing… me too! :o)
Thanks Joy,
blessings, Jeanne
I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas day. It was a very nice one here. Jason came over at noon and Sean and his family arrived a little after noon and we ate lunch. Afterward we opened gifts and then they packed up and left. It was sooner than I’d hoped but Azure was getting fussy and they wanted to get him home for a nap because they had to go to dinner and gift opening at Dionne’s grandmother’s that evening. It was a long day for them but Dionne’s grandpa just passed away and they wanted to be there for her.
I love all the coats but I’m so terrible about getting all the girls redressed that they would probably be dying of heat prostration in the summer because I didn’t get around to changing them from winter to spring/summer wearing attire. But the coats sure are beautiful and obviously great sellers. I don’t make pajamas either for the same reason. The girls would end up having a several month long pajama party.
My 10-year-old granddaughter has finally found the American Girl dolls. Her mother was not helpful with this because when she was little she was raised by a dad who had no idea how to raise a little girl. She wanted all the Barbie stuff but rarely got it so she was determined that her daughter would have Barbies to the roof tops. Problem is that unless you’re a collector, the Barbie craze has pretty much fizzled and her once lovely clothing often looks like something well worn. I’ve bought some things for my Blythe and they are terribly made. So I’ve been trying to get Jaiden interested in the AG dolls and even bought her Wellie Willa but she never played with her. She had no girl playmates in the immediate neighborhood,so she basically never learned how to play with dolls. Well now she has several girls to play with and suddenly she gets the AG thing. I bought her several things for Christmas for her My Life As doll, including matching pjs. She was over the moon at all the new things, including a pair of roller skates, for her “American Girl” doll. Wanting to keep her interested I’m just going to have to buy her a real American Girl doll at some point. Since I’ve already bought her birthday gift for this year and her next birthday and Christmas are a year away, I’m thinking an end-of-school year gift. I do something for them every year and this seems a good thing for her. I’ll take her to the AG store and watch her eyes light up.
After seeing the pictures of Helen Kish’s Wren in the beautiful Jeanne Marie creations, I decided I wanted a Wren doll so I went searching. I found one being auctioned on eBay and another for sale at a doll shop, but that one was pretty pricey. I decided to try for the eBay one. The price was a lot less. Right now I’m the only bidder but there are two watching. It ends in about 2 1/2 days so wish me luck. I think she’s called Waterfall Wren.
David is actually walking around the house without any help from a walker or cane now. He uses his walker if he has to get up in the night but otherwise is walking on his own and doing fine. He is off his heavy-duty pain meds and last night he fell asleep without taking pain pills of any kind. He forgot to take them. He wouldn’t have been able to go to sleep without them before. He’ll take them before PT today. If he doesn’t take them then, he’s miserable afterward. The light at the end of the tunnel is getting closer every day. We missed our Christmas Eve service this year, but it looks like we may be able to attend New Year’s Day. A good way to ring in the New Year.
HI Barbara,
We had a nice quiet Christmas here… just us and Kristoffer and his girlfriend… a simple meal and a few gifts… then we watched a movie that night… just me and my hubby. It was nice!
Lian definitely looks the warmer of the two in the latest coats… I’m having fun making them… easy to make, (messy to make) but, they can be creative if I go there… today it’s going to be an AG one, hopefully. My hubby just left to go work at the church, so I have some “sewing time” all by myself with no interruptions… at least I hope not!
How exciting that your granddaughter has taken an interest in the AG dolls lately. I hope it continues and I LOVE your idea of an end of school present..an AG doll. Barbara, you can find some LIKE new dolls on Ebay, if you search… Some you can’t even tell the difference in new and like new! just a thought…
Oh, I know of the Waterful Wren… she is pretty too. My Wren was Pistachio Wren… she was the blonde. They are wonderfully articulate dolls and if you get her, you will love her! I’ll be watching the auction to see if you win her…
I’m happy that your hubby is making progress in the “knees” department. Sounds like he has been a good patient and will soon not be called a “patient” anymore. We look forward to those days don’t we?
My hubby is going to have to have his right knee redone… it has started bowing out and they said they will have to remove all the hardware and do it over… it was just revised about 18 months ago… but he has a weak tendon that has stretched and caused the problem… I hope they get it right this time… he has one straight leg and one that is bowed…
Well, I better move on… gotta get to my sewing! :o)
Blessings, Jeanne
Dear Barbara, Happy Birthday one day late! You know there is no statue of limitations on birthday celebrations. I looked that up in the Tremendously Trivial Tidbits Tome. I say you pick an alternative celebration day (perhaps May 26 – you have probably heard me say that May is my favorite month), you start with your ninth birthday, and you celebrate each year. You can also do half-birthdays!
Whenever you do celebrate, know that your PA family (dolly and human) is cheering the loudest!
Another darling coat! Lian will be warm as toast . I really love the way the hats are done on all of these. Love her little St. Bernard puppy friend. Those faux fur ornaments are really sweet.
The Merry in Mink coat is gorgeous, my favorite. I missed commenting Christmas Eve because Christmas IS Christmas here due to my German heritage. Christmas Eve was actually almost balmy at 55 degrees and bright sun. Really, really nice.
Hi Charlotte, actually Ohio has a number of hills as well. I lived in Cincinnati for my first seven years and then back for many years to stay with my grandparents on vacations. Cincinnati is called the “city of seven hills”, but has way more.I’m fine driving in snow, just takes a few minutes the first snowfall to get my “snow feet”. Be careful though.
So fun that your sisters and hubbys are coming., Jeanne. I’m sure you’ll have a wonderful visit.
HI Laura,
Yes, I think Lian might be the warmest of all the girls who have been in coats. I wish I had a little igloo that I could have used as a prop for her… I think she looks so much like a little Eskimo girl…
Cindy said the Merry in Mink was her favorite too!
I hope you have a nice Christmas… even it was sunny!
I plan on visiting from sunup till sundown if they are up for it! :o)
Thanks Laura,
Blessings, Jeanne
Boulder has a world class fabric store. Elfride’s Fine Fabrics is having an online sale. Go to https://www.elfriedesfinefabrics.com/ and click on the sale square for sale codes.
Elfride is one of those people we call “The world’s nicest woman.” Her pretty short hair used to be dark gray and white, waist length and distinctive. She had cancer just before I did. After my hair grew back, I went to one of her in-store parties celebrating the work of one of her customers, and when she greeted me, I said, “Here we are, with our short hair.” She said, “But we ARE here.” Some people look at things right.
She has beautiful fabrics and a wide range of quilting cotton and has been a Boulder institution for many years. We are lucky to have her. If you sew, this might be a good time to meet her.
Jeanne, Lian could sell anything. She looks wonderful in that coat. You’ll have people bidding just to get Clyde.
Hi Marilyn,
I was at Walmart when I received your email about Elfriedes fabrics… I do plan to look at the site in just a minute. Thanks!
What a wonderful “come back” for your conversation! Almost made me cry when I read it! I’m SO glad you are still here! :o)
I don’t know why that name stuck with me, but I reading a forum and this lady’s boyfriend was named Clyde… when I saw this pup and decided to put him with Lian, Clyde was the name that popped into my head… Glad you like her coat… I’d like one of our this super soft fur… It’s remarkable! :o)
Thanks Marilyn,
Blessings, Jeanne
Well Christmas is over for another year! Now I have to think about making and decorating a birthday cake for Ashley tomorrow! Sam was going to buy an ice cream cake but Ashley was having none of that and wants a red velvet cake with a red panda on it! Sam has suggested to her she has a mid year ‘unbirthday’ party. My friend used to do that for her son who has a birthday on 22 Dec and my niece had her daughters ‘unbirthday’ party a month before her birthday so she could have it with her friends who would all be on holiday on her actual birthday. Apparently Ashley was quite keen. I certainly am! Rather than mid year it might be better at the end of summer/early autumn when the weather can still be quite nice. She wanted to have a sleepover but there is no way I can accommodate 6 more people in the house! however one of her friends parents has a ‘pop-up’ 4 man tent and airbed we can borrow and they are going to sleep in that on the (covered) deck and Sam is taking them to the pools for the activity. The weather forecast is for rain but it isn’t particularly cold so they should be alright. Ashley did want them all to sleep in my workroom like Caitlin used for her 16th but there was no way I would allow 9/10/11 yr olds an unsupervised sleepover in a place with all the materials and equipment I use for all my crafts!
Jeanne your coats are lovely, I think my favourite is the ‘mink’. I love the colour. Have a lovely visit with your sisters, I may never see mine in person again and I really miss her. Still at least we have video calling these days which is better than nothing. I called her yesterday morning for her Boxing Day birthday, (it was still the evening of her birthday for her). The time thing can be really difficult I can tell you. Did I tell you that when my youngest son was born here in NZ on 29th August my husband rang my Mum and Dad (who were on holiday in UK) to tell them they had another grandson and for them it was still the 28th!
Take care everyone
So your sister has a Boxing Day birthday also. I never could have a birthday party because everyone was off visiting their grandparents the day after Christmas. The idea of an “unbirthday” party was never considered but I did get to have Halloween parties and one year when I was in 8th grade I think, I had a Sadie Hawkins party where the girls invited the boys. That was fun. I had two sisters born in March and one in July and they could have birthday parties. I keep forgetting that the day after Christmas for you is summer. Obviously a pool party wouldn’t have worked for my birthday living in Pennsylvania. Considering it’s in the 80s here in Texas I probably could have pulled it off yesterday.
HI Barbara,
Happy Belated Birthday to you! We wish you MANY MANY more!
Blessings, Jeanne
HI Anne,
First of all, if you DO make that red velvet cake with a red panda, we HAVE to see it! :o)
Second, I wouldn’t let young girls stay unsupervised in MY sewing room either… too many things to “touch” that might be disastrous! I hope you figure something out!
Your son and I share the same birthday! Now I’ll have to remember to wish him happy birthday when I have my next one!
I am very blessed to be able to see my sisters as often as I do… and I can’t imagine not being able to see yours… that just makes my heart break… glad you can at least talk…
Well, I better let you get back to your cake decorating ideas… I’m glad I’m just making a fresh apple cake for some friends this Thursday…it’s simple with no skills needed! :o)
Thanks Anne,
Blessings, Jeanne
Dear Jeanne, happy day after the day after Christmas (maybe we will start a new holiday – laugh). I am glad that you had a nice Christmas.
Lian looks so sweet in her new coat. And, of my goodness, Clyde is adorable.
I am excited for you that your sisters are coming for a visit. You are definitely due for some fun sister time. I can’t wait to hear about your adventures.
