All the Little Darlings can look now…

I think it’s okay if you let your Little Darlings look today… I have more done and they might want to see if I’m getting it right. I had a little bit of time to sew after the Staff Christmas Party… well, it was 9:30 when I got into my sewing room, but I have no time to waste as the time for listing a Christmas dress is drawing to a close… really quickly!

So let’s get to it…

Emmie got a new slip to wear under her dress…

She also received a pair of silver shimmery thigh highs…

But her favorite thing so far is the furry jacket. She says it’s SO SOFT! And it is! I lined it with tulle so it’s as light as a feather too. I haven’t done anything to it yet, except make it, but I might add something. But I’d like to keep it simple so the doll who wins it can wear it with other things.

We took the pictures at 12:30 so it was WAYYYY past her bedtime, but again, time is of the essence.

As I was going out the door to go to the Post Office, Emmie called out to me and said, “Don’t forget to get the winner something Blue for me!” I didn’t!

It won’t be much longer… OK… now tell your Little Darlings they can go back to playing! :o)

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

I just love everything about Emmie’s new outfit, Jeanne! And there are some little girls here that are drooling over it, too, you can be sure!

Thanks to everyone for the prayers and support regarding Ron. We really appreciate it!

    1. HI Charlotte,
I am going to answer the comments tonight, if I can though them all… I just looked and there are 28…yikes!
Glad you like Emmie’s set… it’s going on Ebay in just a few minutes…yep, I got it listed too!
I have been keeping you in my prayers too… along with your hubby. I hope things are going the right direction now…
      Blessings, Jeanne

I love it Jeanne! Not overdone, and it highlights Emmie and whoever will wear it! I was wondering what happened to the lace that was showing at the bottom of the dress a few days ago? It doesn’t seem to be there, and I really liked that!

I have been busy getting Christmas decorations, dolls, shopping, and soon, baking done. We got our boosters yesterday too! My Nutcracker scene is coming down shortly, and the 40’s girls will be getting their little tree decorated. I still have one more “people tree” to decorate also! So many things, so little time!

Charlotte, I hope Ron gets through the holidays with no additional problems, and Barbara, that David continues to improve from his latest surgery!

    1. Thanks LInda,
I like things simple most of the time too… so I decided to keep the whole thing pretty simple.
The lace that you saw before was from a slip I was using that was a bit too big, so it hung down, but I made her a new one that fits and all you have to do is pull it down a little bit and it shows!
Tis the season to be busy, isn’t it? I feel like I can finally breath a bit now… but there is still lots I’d like to do… maybe some of it will get done.

I just listed Emmie’s dress on Ebay a few minutes ago… I’ll put a link to it tomorrow, or you can just type in Effner Little Darling Christmas Sparkle! :o)

      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Sorry I have been missing for such a long time. I do read often but haven’t had the strength to so. Health and life drama got in the way.

I love the print or Emmie dress and her white fur jacket is perfect. Sometimes simple is so much more lovely. I would ever leave it as it is or maybe a tiny snowflake pin that could be taken off. Or my favorite thing for a jacket or sweater that doesn’t close is sweater clips. They are lovely but not used much anymore. I have at least 2 dozen that were my mothers and aunt. I think they would be easy to make as all you need are two clips, some chain/or elastic and your done. You could glow a metal snowflake on top of each clips

    1. Hi Sandra,,
I hope you are feeling a little better now. I can just imagine how beautifully Cape May is decorated for Christmas. We stayed there for a night and two days on our roundabout way home to Ohio from Williamsburg, VA when we went to see Felicity’s home.
I remember sweater slips. My great-aunt always used them on her sweaters. I hope you wear yours sometimes anyway. I will wear anything I like, even if it isn’t currently “in”.

    2. Hi Sandra,
You’ll be pleased to know I left the hat and jacket pretty simple, just the way you like… one snowflake on the jacket… that’s all! :o)
I’m going to look up Sweater Clips… as I can’t think of what they look like… but if I see a picture, I might remember them.
Maybe I’ll do them next time… I just listed Emmie’s dress on Ebay…
      Thanks Sandra,
      Blessings, Jeanne

Sweater clips were probably before your time, Jeanne–I remember them in the late 1950s! Basically two clips (matching), which could be either decorative or fairly plain, connected by a short metal chain. You could attach them to either side of your cardigan, and wear it over your shoulders, and it wouldn’t fall off! I have two, one I bought and one that had belonged to a great-aunt; her husband (my grandpa’s brother) wanted me to have something of Aunt Esther’s.

Dear Jeanne, I love the outfit! Emmie looks like she is going to a Christmas Ball.

    1. HI Dorothy,
Well, no Christmas Ball for Emmie, but as I got closer to getting it finished today, I sure was thinking a light sprinkling of snow would have been lovely for some pictures… but not today… so we changed the backdrop to my brown windows with lace so the white would show up better…
      Thanks Dorothy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

The jacket is exactly what I envisioned. Perfect. If you decide on a closure, even a simple hook and eye would work I think. I’d still like to see a muff for her, a scarf, and maybe earmuffs too. 🙂 That jacket is so cute. It can be worn with a pair of jeans ice skating as well. I do like the lace showing below the skirt look if the slip can be pulled down a bit. 🙂
Had a busy day trying to intercept packages before other person could find them. Phanie, from France, showed up with the mail and other person took a look and said, “Did you buy another doll?” I looked at the box and said, “I don’t know?” Nabbed the box and hid it quickly. Never heard another word. 🙂 But then, I received a notice from UPS that the box from Hong Kong with Maya and Minnie in it was in the neighborhood. Quickly, looked at the Follow the Truck map and saw that the truck was close. Up and down the streets it went. Took a strange loop and just sat there. Finally moving again. Sent other person to the store for French bread and celery. Darn, no truck in his absence. Had to go to the other house and do some things. Thought for sure it would arrive in our absence and be sitting right in view on the porch. Got back and no, still not there. Back to the computer to check the map. Still going up and down streets all around us, but not ours. It got dark. Now what? Didn’t want to turn on the light as other person would become suspicious. The truck was now on our block. Back to the kitchen as the window looks out in front. There was the truck in front of the house. Other person was still watching tv of which I purposely didn’t complain about the loudness. Turned on the garbage disposal and had water running. Anything to disguise that dreaded thump of a package or footsteps on the stairs. Oh please don’t ring the bell! Couldn’t see in the darkness, but, thought the package was there. Decided to check and see if I was right. Told other person I heard the neighbors dogs barking. Opened the door just enough to check, and there was the package propped up against a plant. But, I couldn’t bring it in as other person was sitting just a few feet away. Hoping no porch pirates would appear, we ate dinner. Me quickly which is unusual. Doesn’t other person need to go into the office? or do something anywhere else?? Since we’d been talking about his grandparents old home in Denver, he’d looked it up and visited virtually earlier. Then, he remembered the great amusement parks that used to be there. I quickly suggested why not look them up and see if he could find the names? That worked. Off he went to take a look on the computer, and I sprung into action. Ever so quietly unlocked the door and turned the squeaky handle. Opened the door, snatched the package inside and like an elf relocked the door. Package in hand, I quickly stashed it. Hope to open the box and see Maya and Minnie today. Was completely exhausted after this caper. Must devise some new plans. 🙂

Dear Joy, oh my goodness, this is so funny. I was thinking about Emma Peel, from the old TV show The Avengers. You are so clever!

      1. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Kathie, I love the name of your club. Is it part of UFDC?

That title certainly sums up things in this house (chuckle).

    2. Sally from Colorado

Joy, Joy, Joy! Yikes, woman, you seem to like living on the precipice over your way! Your stories are always such fun, but I know you are probably sweating bullets! Congratulations on the new babies and look forward to more pics from you and Linda.
Hope David is doing lots better, Barbara. Scary time for you both. Lucky him to be a fast healer, though!
Jeanne, Emmie’s set is a treat. I would leave the jacket alone, but I tend to be a “less is more” kind of person…except when it comes to dolls!! This is so, so pretty, though.
Denver was awesome, but good to be home with the dogs.

      1. HI Sally,
Isn’t Joy the best story teller ever? I loved that today!
You’ll be pleasantly surprised when you see Emmie on Ebay… anytime now… as I got her set finished and listed…
        Thanks Sally,
        Blessings, Jeanne

    3. HI Joy,
You have the most marvelous antics with your dolls arriving in the mail… you just might see your story on a post… it’s too good not to share! I loved it! :o)
      Blessings, Jeanne

I read this right before bed. It is hilarious! I’ve avoided some encounters between hubby and a new member of the family, but nothing like this. You go girl!

  6. Jeanne, Emmie looks adorable in her soft blue Christmas dress. Love her jacket. I too think a muff and matching hat would be perfect. The whole outfit is dreamy.

    1. HI Paula,
Well, you got your wish… about Emmie’s outfit… you’ll have to check it out on Ebay… Effner Christmas Sparkle Little Darling

I need to make this quick because David has to go for a PT evaluation at 11 a.m. I’ve been checking the blog for the past two days but it’s usually late so I haven’t commented so I’ll try to remember but sorry if I leave things out.

Congratulations to Sally for her great dolly achievement. I’m always a day late and a dollar short to these events. Maybe next year.

Navi’s outfit is absolutely precious. So is Emmie’s. I’ve forbidden the LDs to even take a look. This one they would not be willing to share I’m sure.

Charlotte, prayers for Ron’s angioplasty. Sorry you can’t be there with him for most. I’ve been able to be with David both before surgery and after recovery. Makes for a long day but I’d prefer it to otherwise. David had to have a COVID test three days before but that is all, except for wearing masks.

David’s surgery went well, and the doctor manipulated his right knee at the time to get him more of a bend. He heals so quickly and even with PT he couldn’t stay ahead of it. But at least we know that this time so can add some more things to help with that. Yesterday was not good. He had bleeding through his bandage Tuesday evening, so I took him to the doctor yesterday to see what was up. It was no problem and the bleeding had stopped so they cleaned and redressed the incision, and he is good to go for seven days now then we will put on a lighter dressing. But it took two hours to make what is usually a 30 min drive to the doctor because they are widening I-10 and had the road totally shut down going east. When we got there he was in really bad shape. He is doing better this morning but dreading having to get in and out of the car so much. It’s his left knee this time and that makes it harder but I found that if I get in the driver’s side I can help slide his leg in. Are we having fun yet?

Jeanne, your cake looks yummy. If I’ve forgotten anyone or anything when I get a chance I will reread things and comment then. Off to get hubby ready for his foray into the world.

    1. Hi Barbara, thanks for the up date. I wondered how things were going with David. It sounds like things are good although the bleeding through the bandages would have made me light headed and woozy. No way I would have been able to drive for 2 hours.. yikes! So glad you handled it well. When my mom had knee surgery I put her in the back seat and climbed in from the other side and pulled her in. Not the safest way to travel as she was stretched out and not seat belted but it worked. I will keep you both in my prayers.

    2. Hi Barbara, So glad to hear that David’s surgery went well and the small issue was resolved. Praying things go smoothly now and he heals as quickly as last time.

    3. Joy in northern CA

Thanks so much for the update. Sounds like you are keeping the show running. Please remember to take care of yourself too. Very important. I think David is very brave having his second surgery so soon, but can understand wanting it to be over for good. Keep your spirits up. We’ll be waiting for you.

    4. Linda in St. Louis

Barbara, David’s post surgery is completely different than mine! My main problem was swelling of my leg, and hamstring problems. I did not leave my house for anything, until 3 weeks after the surgery, too much swelling made it difficult. So no PT until 3 weeks after, although I did a few exercises at home. I know getting up from a seat is not fun! I have no idea how he can take a surgery like that so closely together. He has my utmost respect!

    5. The updated news is good. That 2 hour ride had to have been rough. Glad the bleeding was stopped ! Wishing you lots of energy to be the “get it “ person and head ice handler😉

    6. HI Barbara,
I’m glad we can be there for each other… even if you get just a few minutes to read the blog, it might take your mind off things for just a minute or two and give you a breather from what you are going through right now. I remember when my hubby had both knees done at the same time, I thought I’d love my mind sometimes as I had to do most things for him. Somehow we make it through and look back and wonder how we did it…
I am praying you to have strength and get enough rest…that’s the best thing you can do for your hubby…
Take care of yourself and we’ll see you when things settle down a bit for you…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Hi Jeanne,
Emmie’s outfit is so lovely. The fuzzy jacket is adorable. Nice call. I think you have time for one more quick Christmas/New Year outfit I think 😉

    1. HI Ingrid,
I was thinking I might be able to sneak something else in too, but now I’m thinking I should probably sell some of the things I was planning to sell before Christmas… who knows… I guess we’ll see…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Emmie looks so sweet. Her slip is lovely and I like the photos where it is peeking out for under her dress. The jacket is darling and reminds me of new fallen snow. Still thinking Emmie needs a muff to keep her warm and toasty..

    1. HI Laura,
Your wish is my command… you’ll see what I mean when you see the dress next…
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. Kathie from Omaha

Somehow I thought the jacket would be felt but this fuzzy one is fantastic! That is so freaky cute☺️. Emmie makes everything look amazing. It will be good throughout the Winter. Good choice of fabrics and the slip and tights are more of what makes your ensembles so perfect🥰

    1. HI Kathie,
I thought about doing the jacket in felt, but then what would I do with it? I didn’t want to embroidery silver snowflakes on it, so I opted for the textured fur and let that be it…
Thanks for your compliments on the set. It was fun to make and having such a pretty doll to model it, made it even better…
      It’s on Ebay now…
      Blessings, Jeanne
