More doll dresses for Fall…

I had a busy weekend getting ready for the hayride, which was pushed to Sunday night instead of Saturday. Too much rain and sogginess for Saturday, but Sunday night was beautiful… a bit cool but I LOVE wearing a good sweater! :o)

Since I got home late, and was too busy in the day to write something else, I decided to show you a few more Fall dresses I’ve made for my girls in the past… I hope you find your favorite amongst these! :o)

Here is Ten Ping (before her makeover) in Fall Fever…

Jeanne, that was a good idea to move the hayride to last night instead of Saturday! It did get chilly though, when the sun went down last night, didn’t it?

I don’t know why I didn’t comment the other day, I thoght I did, but evidently I didn’t! I absolutely loved that dress that Cecile was wearing! You need to recreate that one again! And oh, Kit’s dress from today is absolutely precious! That jacket is darling! I love the simple lines of the dress and the pleats! Another one to recreate! Which brings me to ask, have you ever recreated an outfit, or have you always made something completely new?

My goodness, here it is November already! And now all the Halloween costumes come off and another bunch of outfits come on! I know what I am doing today!!

I see I’m actually second tonight!!

I, too, just love Kit’s outfit. Of course, I like Elizabeth’s gown, too–anything with purple for me!!

We only had two trick-or-treaters tonight. 😞 Last year we had four, and I thought for sure we’d have more tonight, since on the news they’ve been saying trick-or-treating is pretty “safe”, since it’s all outside. Oh, dear, all those Milky Ways and Peanut Butter Cups and M&M Peanuts left over…what shall we do?! 🤣

Nothing like the smell of wet hay. 🙂 Glad the party could be switched to a dryer day, but hope the guests didn’t have other Halloween plans. Anyway, we had zero trick or treaters. Not unexpected as we don’t get many on the hill anyway and no one had on lights. However, there were candy snatchers out there as evidenced by the Ring doorbell camera pictures posted on Nextdoor. Brazen youth grabbed whole candy bowls of treats, ran to waiting cars and took off. In daylight too. And not just one house, but all over town. Although those that actually handed out the treats personally in the popular Victorian home area ran out of candy by 8:00. Guess they could have used some of the snatched candy at their houses. Sad state of affairs.
Sorry my Halloween pics arrived so late. Maybe I’ll get something made earlier for Christmas, for the RRFF kids. I’ve been looking for some different patterns for both the 14″ and 12″ size, but can’t seem to find anything to my liking. I did see a nice pattern on Pixie Faire for the big girls. I’d try to reduce it, except it was pretty expensive. Guess I’ll keep looking. Has anyone seen a neat pattern lately?
Supposed to get some more sprinkles today. Yes, we still need the rain. 🙂

      Good morning,

First, I did go back and made replies to everyone on the post from a few days ago that had pictures of my dolls in case you’re interested. Thank you all for your continuing kindness.

Second, all our best to you, Barbara, and David tomorrow. Bet Skyy is back in business?

Third, Jeanne, hope you all had fun. Thank you for more pictures from your archives; always a special treat.

Halloween got pretty busy here. We set up our PVC chute and the kids love that, no matter how old or young. At 8:00, the rest of our block had porch lights off, but we kept ours on and dumped all the remaining treats (we don’t give candy any longer…pringles, Oreos, and Cheezits) into a cardboard box that I put on the top porch step as by then it was sprinkling a bit. At 9:20, a knock on our door and by the time I got there, a car drove off and the box was gone. That made me happy…the treats gave those people or kids some joy and who knows, maybe they live in their car. They are more families than I care to think living in their cars around here.

I got my windows washed as it was reasonably warm and low wind. They aren’t great, but I have allowed my standards to drop. No use getting my knickers in a knot!

Joy, I hope you find a pattern. Your little kids in your outfits were so doggone darling!

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Happy November 1!

Thanks Ingrid. I do check Etsy regularly, but just haven’t found exactly what I’m interested yet. The pattern you posted is a very nice one. I’ve seen it made up in quite a few different fabrics and it is always cute. 🙂

Another fashion show! Too great! I love them all but Bitty Bethany’s outfit is always one of my favorites. And I love Kitt’s outfit too.

Sean and family came out last evening for the Boo Bash. It was wonderful. Tons of people and wonderful costumes. I’m not big on doing what I call the “mall crawl”. That’s where you basically stroll around. I need to walk faster or it kills my back, but each station had games for the kids to play or just gave out candy so it was stroll and stop. I found a bench and, since our downtown sidewalks are elevated as they were back in the 1800s when our town came into being, I had a nice vantage point for watching all the festivities. We have developed a strong “Main Street Association”. If you are a historical town you can apply for funds to help develop what often becomes a rundown area in small Texas towns. Our association is doing a wonderful job. They were selling raffle tickets last evening so I talked to them awhile. Since I was sitting on one of the few benches in downtown they suggested that maybe more benches were needed. Many people were sitting on the elevated sidewalks but that’s not always a good thing so I agreed more benches were needed. They recently added a railing to the sidewalks so that people don’t walk off and hurt themselves. Nothing fancy but they look nice.

The Boo Bash had two haunted houses. Dionne, Skyy and Jaiden went in both and Sean and I stayed outside with Azure. He probably would not have been scared of the haunted houses but the kids screaming in “fright” would have caused a problem so we figured it was better he didn’t go in. After the kids had done everything we went home and picked up David and went to eat. David of course didn’t go because of his knees. First surgery is tomorrow. Hallelujah! It’s taken a year to get to this point. His second surgery is early December.

I found out yesterday that Skyy and Jaiden have off from school today. That took the pressure off having to get home early last evening so we had a relaxing time. They will be coming out with Sean today. Their mom is a grocery shopper but hasn’t worked since Azure was born in January. With Christmas coming up she is trying to go back part time. She can take Azure who finds his days quite satisfying just hanging out with mom, but the older two would rather be somewhere else doing something else and since they can’t stay by themselves, they will be joining me for a day of dolly fun. I told them yesterday we would be doing some doll photographs. They both nodded their heads and then Skyy said, “Wait, what about dog food wraps?” I got to laughing so hard I had trouble telling everyone else what I had said. David has some trouble hearing. He said, welcome to my world Skyy.

  5. That’s too funny, Barbara. Thanks for the laugh. I’ll be thinking of David and praying all goes well with his surgery. Sounds like Skyy is fully mended.
I never made it here yesterday, so have to pick dress favorites from both days today. for yesterday my favorites are Addy’s ( no small wonder there)and the first one on Felicity. Cecile’s a lovely as well. I think the crow dress with the litte rust colored jacket is sweet and perfect for fall.
Okay, on to today… I like Felicity’s and Rebecca’s is absolutely gorgeous and of course, the kitty cat dress is so precious.

So glad you had a drier day for your hayride. Hayrides are such fun. Hope you enjoyed a lot of smores, hot cider, donuts, and caramel corn and apples.
Beautiful sunny day here and 54 degrees, we’ll take it.

    1. Joy in northern CA

When you said crow dress, I had to go back and take a look. I did not see them on the print or jacket. Glad you mentioned it because it is very cute. Don’t know how I missed that. 🙂

  6. Kathie from Omaha

What fun choices you made for today! Glad the Hayrack ride was fun and Carmel apples sound so yummy right now,
Bitty Bethany is my favorite today….until I saw Kit. She is my favorite AG doll and that dress is very different from the usual and looks sweet on her. The Paisley fabric on Rebecca I don’t remember seeing before. Reminds me of a dress my little Rosie wore to kindergarten.
Off to make a pattern from a little gnome I bought.

  7. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Jeanne, another lovely fashion show. Your models are definitely the best.

There are only 55 days until Christmas. Tinsel and presents and carols, oh my!

  8. Hi Jeanne, the RRFF girls looked simply gorgeous! Those tiny packages were adorable, the little gingerbread man one made me want to hit the bid button, but I’ve dusted off the sewing machine so I told myself no, lol
I loved the “foot pose” photo.. you, your beautiful baby girl and your lovely sisters all together, what a sweet photo, it’s definitely frame worthy.

Barbara I’m so very sorry about Skyy … what an awful thing to have happened while playing at the play ground, poor little guy. Prayers for a speedy recovery!

Kathie, your LD swap gift is so sweet. I love that tiny doll what a fun addition to your dolly family.

Charlotte, I liked the way you showed us the LD swap gifts you received from Kathie. I didn’t realize you had such a large collection. They are all so adorable! What fun gifts they got from Auntie Kathie. That striped top and leggings with the sneakers and jumper are too cute!

Since writing the above much time has passed… Each day I pop on, read the blog and later read all the comments. Because of the late hour I don’t comment but I so enjoy catching up with everyone and seeing all the beautiful photo’s. It was so sweet of all sofa sisters that shared while painting and flooring was going on. Thank you Jeanne for posting everyone’s offerings. I pray everyone is doing well and special prayers for Charlotte’s hubby (feel better Ron) and Barbara’s hubby as he faces surgery. Laura it was me that commented about your lovely hall tree. Thank you for sending that photo, it is a gorgeous piece and you must be thrilled it’s all yours!

Jeanne… wow is all I can say about your sitting room. Love the colors and can’t wait to see how you decorate.

Now some of the reason I’ve been MIA…
Our casual house hunting has become a bit more urgent. My parents live on their own and are very independent. I’ve always checked on them and things have always been fine. Recently I realized my mother needs more care than my father is able to provide. The subject was gently brought up and the only agreeable solution was moving in together. Sooo yes a larger home is in order. Please pray that once we are settled I’m not locked up in the nut house.. kidding but not really

As some of you may remember my son Richard works for the government. Because of the government mandate he is required to have a covid shot by a certain date (oct 8th for his job). Richard being his mothers son is very stubborn, believing he had immunities from what he was certain was the covid virus last year refused the jab. Unfortunately he and his family were exposed at a family get together. The couple that exposed them called and said hey guess what? Because Emily my DIL has her own PT practice and works closely with her clients, ran not walked to get a covid test. That same morning was the last day Richard could take his covid shot or he’d lose his job… he complied and received his shot. That afternoon he noticed his sense of taste and smell were gone, shortly after Emily’s test showed positive. My three grands, my DIL and my son all were sick, each tested positive. Richard was so very sick, each day I worried he might end up in the hospital. The kids and Emily really didn’t get very sick. The kids ran temps. Richard and Emily did not. Emily and Richard lost their sense of taste and smell, the kids did not. Emily’s sense of taste and smell have mostly returned, Richard’s has not and he’s still not feeling 100 percent, I’m guessing the fact that he actively had covid when he received his covid shot had something to do with it.
My mother who is 86 and hasn’t been to her church in a year went to church 2 weeks ago. Five days later received a phone call, her pastor has covid. So far so good. Praying all will be fine.

Sorry for the over share … I’ve been trying to pull myself out of a major funk… talking helps.. you lucky girls! LOL
Hugs and Love to all the sisters!

    Ingrid

    1. Joy in northern CA

Oh Ingrid, what can I say? So many things going on in your neck of the woods. So sorry for the Covid outbreak and hoping that your mother doesn’t also get it. So, now you are house hunting? Same area? That is major, let alone packing up two households? I don’t think I could do it. I too would be looney tunes. I’ll be thinking of you.

    2. Charlotte Trayer

Oh, my goodness, Ingrid! I am so sorry–what a huge challenge you are having just now! Hope all goes well with the transition to living with your parents (having each couple’s own space will be super important–you will need a “haven” away from mom and dad now and then). Praying you find just the right house–perhaps one with a “mother-in-law” type apartment?

Also praying for Richard and family; what a shock, for them to All get sick!! I’m glad to hear most are recovered.

Thank you for the prayers for Ron and me; he has an appt. with his cardiologist on Friday, and his GP next Tues., so hopefully we will have some answers. His shakiness (intermittent) seems to be getting worse. I have a wonderful support system among our church family, for which I am so grateful!
