I hope you are ready to see some more dolls dressed up! Nobody has more props than Linda… (I don’t think…) :o) She always changes things up from year to year and you can spend a lot of time looking at her pictures… You can enlarge them, but just make sure you look at them all first and then write your comments… not sure why that is still making your comments disappear when you have something written and then enlarge the pictures… sorry…
Linda saved the day for me because I spent the weekend painting… one half of the room is painted and all finished… I have the other side to do and will wait to show you when I am done… These are BIG walls… but I’m taking my time and trying not to be in too big of a hurry… I am very much liking this calming color and look forward to getting the room all “prettified!” :o)
This is what Linda sent me…
Jeanne, here are a couple of pictures of how I fixed my dolls up this year. I have quite a few costumes, in fact way more than I have dolls, so I try to change it up and have them wear things they haven’t worn for awhile.
First up the modern dolls, all dressed like witches! Actually Betsy doesn’t look very scary, does she?
Next, Cecile and Kirsten trying to carve a pumpkin with an old fashioned butter knife! Good luck with that girls, and on a pretty lace tablecloth too! Both are wearing Addy’s dresses.
(Linda, that orange striped dress on Cecile is SO SO pretty and Kirsten look VERY sweet in the brown and cream pinafore…
Finally the 40’s girls. Ruthie, ever the fashionista, is dresses as a 1920’s flapper girl, Molly is wearing her costume she put together herself, and Susan is in a cheerleading costume.
Finally, you might wonder what in the world a table setting with a spaghetti dinner on it is doing here, but it is a tradition here at my house! We always had spaghetti for a Halloween dinner, since it was so easy to make and the children were raring to go out trick or treating, but first we had to wait for dinner! So when I saw the AG spaghetti dinner on sale, I just had to buy it! Nowadays it probably is pizza, but not back in the 70’s!.
Well, now, isn’t there LOTS to look at in Linda’s pictures? Thank you, Linda!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Congrats on the good prices those three dresses garnered for you, Jeanne! Must have been kind of exciting to watch the final moments of bidding!
Linda, thanks for sharing your pictures! Yes, Betsy is just too cute to be a “bad” witch!! All three girls look darling.
I think Cecile and Kirsten are going to need daddy’s help (and a bigger knife!) to get their pumpkins carved. Even as an adult, I found it difficult to carve those things! I hadn’t thought about putting Kirsten in Addy’s checked outfit, but she looks really nice in it. I think I have that outfit, and of course I do have Kirsten, so may have to see about getting the two together!
Your 40s girls look wonderful, also! I was born in 1946, so I didn’t go trick-or-treating until a little after their time, but, yes, kids often wore what was available for costumes, but there were always a few with fancy, “store-bought” ones!
Your dinner set is darling! We didn’t have any particular meal on Halloween–just something that was quick to fix and relatively quick and easy to eat!
We had another ER run with Ron this morning, but he’s okay. I missed church and SS, but made it to evening service tonight. (I did take a long nap this afternoon!) He has congestive heart failure, you know, so some of this may be related to that, or to anxiety (which can also be a part of CHF).
Take care Charlotte. Thinking of you and Ron.
Congratulations on the very successful auction! Well deserved finishing bids at the last second! Good luck with finishing the painting today. You always do such a great job!
Linda’s girls are always so appropriately and beautifully dressed for everyone occasion, especially Halloween 🎃! All the details are so much fun to look at and sometimes send me right to eBay for something I think I simply have to find. Thanks for sharing, Linda ❤️🎃👻🦇☠️🐈⬛
Dear Charlotte, you and Ron have our prayers. CHF is a tough one. Hope today is lots better than yesterday.
❤️
I have been waiting for Charlotte to comment, and am glad she did! I was worried since I saw that Seattle and areas around that had no power due to wind and storms. We had our turn last night although the tornadoes went south of us. I hope Ron continues to improve.
Well, what can I say here today? I’m glad I was able to help out so you can do what you have to do,Jeanne! I wish I could have done more with costumes, since not all the dolls were dressed, but this knee is taking away a lot of my energy I used to have, although it is doing well according to the doctor. All I can say is what happens with one knee doesn’t necessarily mean it will be the same with the other! This knee is giving me twice the trouble the other one did two years ago, but we are getting there.
Oh Jeanne, i completely forgot to say “Congratulations!” on that successful sale last night! I missed it, since I fell asleep too early.
Hi Linda,
I’ve been watching your comments and you are exactly right about the second knee not behaving like the first one. Do you have a stationary bike ? That is what got me through the PT on mine. Maybe just renting one. Wish we were closer … you could borrow mine🤔 Mine dits close to the ground so falling off isn’t a worry.
Your Fall/Halloween displays are so detailed and cute! Love fall colors and costumes and love seeing the pictures🎃😄
No stationary bike here, Kathie, but I do use one in therapy. Bending the knee is fine, but getting it straightened out is now the focus. That is the harder thing to do when having knee surgery.
Thank you, anyway for the offer!
Linda, once again you have created a fabulous display! Looks to me like all the witches are good witches. Betsy looks precious as usual. And your 40s girls look wonderful. Tell Molly she did a great job of putting together a costume. I remember doing that myself a lot of times.
I laughed when I saw the knife Cecile and Kirsten were trying to use to carve a pumpkin. But I wouldn’t suggest getting one of those pumpkin carving kits either. I’ve never had a lot of success with those. The blades tend to break off very easily. I can’t believe you have more Halloween costumes than your girls can wear. I think we have maybe two or three in all the dolly wardrobe . Except for the BAB bunnies. They have enough to wear a new costume every day of Halloween week, but then they were the only children for quite a long time.
You have a decided advantage over me when it comes to getting your displays accomplished. You buy their clothes. I get myself delayed considerably by trying to make everything. I’m still trying to create my swim party. I have all the patterns and fabric needed to make the bathing suits but just can’t seem to carve out he time to make them all. I even have an oval Pixie Faire swimming pool I want to make. But that not being done isn’t totally my fault. After our winter freeze debacle here in Texas last February PVC was in short supply and I couldn’t, in all good conscience, buy it to make a doll swimming pool when many were trying to get the water in their homes flowing again.
I’ve been telling David about your good success with your knee. He goes next Tuesday for his first knee surgery. I think I’d better not mention what you said today. But I do hope you are back to normal soon now that you have both knees out of the way. And David wants to know how long you had to use a walker or cane.
Barbara, I used the walker roughly for the first two weeks, then nothing! I never could get the hang of using a cane, so the therapist said not to. It just kept getting in the way. I still have swelling issues, but they are slowly going away, emphasis on “slowly”! It’s hard to get comfortable in bed! By all means, have David take his pain pills as long as he needs them, they work wonders!
Dear Linda, I love the photos. The girls are definitely having a nice time.
I think that spaghetti is appropriate at any time of the year. Yum!
The sale for your beautiful dresses went well, it must have been very exciting to watch. There are going to be 3 dolls perfectly dressed this Christmas.
Glad you are taking your time with that painting, it is very hard to do day after day,
Have a good day!
Congrats to Jeanne on the auction! And all of that painting is going to make for one amazing transformation in the “Not so much Sitting room.” 🙂
Linda’s girls make such a lovely presentation in their period Halloween costumes. So love seeing her girls. And the spaghetti dinner is perfect. We too always had spaghetti on Halloween before taking the girls out to trick or treat. 🙂
We had one wet weekend in Sonoma County. The rainfall total for the storm was either 6 or 7 inches for one day. Maybe more. Crazy rain. Lots of flooding in town in areas near where creeks convene and of course, road closures. Our gutter cleaning and leaf management helped to keep the garage from flooding, but I honestly haven’t seen that much rain at once in many years. The good thing is fire season is definitely over for this year. 🙂
I’m happy to report that Natalie, Siblie RRFF, from Russia, has made it to CA and should be arriving on our doorstep very soon.
Hope everyone had a nice weekend.
Congratulations Jeanne on the sale of your RRFF holiday outfits. Some RRFF’s will be happy when they receive their new dresses!
Linda, I always look forward to seeing your girls throughout the years. That Betsy McCall is just the cutest! She’s like a little sister to the AMG girls. All of the trick or treaters are ready to go collect lots of goodies. Only after they have their spaghetti dinner! So cute. Love the table cloth. Where did you get it?
I too, like Addy’s brown and white outfit on Kirsten.
Charlotte , hope all is well concerning Ron.
Jeanne, I’m imagining you are well into painting. Can’t wait to see the finished room.
Paula, the “tablecloth” is actually a cloth napkin that I got at Kohl’s! Actually, it was from a Fourth of July collection, but it matches Molly’s kitchen so well, I just kept it on.
It is perfect! Thank you – excellent idea too!
Oh, Linda, Linda, Linda! You do have fun with your dolls and fabulous props. We are so grateful to you and Jeanne for sharing them, because your joy is shared by us all. Makes me feel so good all over to see your super outfits and scenes. Again, a million thanks for doing this work, sharing the pictures and giving us all SO much pleasure. “You’re a doll!” 👏🥰
Jeanne, the auctions were great fun; always love the last 6 seconds when everyone is poised to hit their “confirm “ bids. Even more fun if you’re one of those bidders and you end up the winner! 😉 Your sitting room is going to be nothing less than “Jeanne and George” lovely, though you are the painter supreme in this case. Then the floor! Do you suppose this room and the guest room will be done before the holidays? Did you have a fun birthday with Kristoffer?
Joy’s area has been hit really hard, so let’s keep all those folks out there in our prayers. That was a LOT of rain and wind. Glad she is situated in a spot less prone to the flooding, but it had to be a nail-biter nonetheless. Super glad your little Natalie is almost on your doorstep, Joy. We all wish you luck slipping her by “other person”! I was greatly relieved late yesterday to find that my two Russian Siblies were, in fact, in US customs several days and this morning got released. So, they didn’t get buried in the mountains of parcels too badly there.
Debbie, your must be getting down to the crunch? You have a lot of cheerleaders here! Pace yourself carefully.
Alina, I think I mentioned how much I enjoyed seeing your pretty granddaughters so absorbed in their play, your dolls in their beautiful outfits and darling Rafi and Bambo. Great shots and fun to see a part of your world and life. I wrote you an email yesterday, I think, so I await your answer.
Everyone, have a dandy day. Sending hugs out there!
Sally
Congratulations, Jeanne, on the auctions. I went to see the ending bids before I came here.
Always fun to see your girls, Linda. I do think you have more props than anyone as well because, not only do you have lots of PC/AG, but you also have a lot of other great
additional things.
Betsy’s little candy corn and candy pumpkin dress is so cute. I like fall prints like that.
Cecile and Kirsten will hopefully get their pumpkin carved. They look darling in Addy’s striped dress and her birthday pinafore. Those were two must-have for me as well and I also put them on different dolls. Love their little kitties joining in on the fun.
You 1940’s girls are ready for a big night and full bags of candy. They look very sweet in their costumes.
Hope they enjoy their spaghetti dinner. Molly’s kitchen is always fun to see as well.
Hoping things are better for Ron, Charlotte. Be keeping him in prayer.
What a fun blog today! Holy Moly Jeanne! So glad your trio went so well! Was it the same person by chance? I’ll bet you were beside your self watching those last seconds😳🤗
The painting will be done before you know it and after the floor expert goes to work it will be DONE!
Alina I didn’t get to comment on your darling granddaughters and dolls. What a fun time in your life…they grow up so fast
Linda’ s pictures couldn’t be better. It has me pulling out my Fall items and re dressing my dolls. Thanks for giving me a push to get them redressed!
🙏🏻For you and Ron Charlotte.
Linda It was great to see your girls all dressed up for Halloween, I can’t believe how many props you have. I’m helping Ashley with her costume at the moment. She is doing it for her star challenge so needs to do some of it herself. She doesn’t have long to finish the challenges as she finishes at primary this year and moves to Intermediate next year (which might equate to your Junior High).
Charlotte I will keep praying for Ron and for you too that you will get some rest.
Jeanne I hope you finish your renovating soon and can actually enjoy what you’ve done and not have to think about what comes next! Your house reminds me of the Forth Bridge (in Scotland) As soon as they get to the end painting it they have to go back to the beginning and start again because it takes so long. You and George together have done a wonderful job on that house.
I’ll send some photos soon of Sara. She will have to wear the clothes she came in as I haven’t got around to any patterns for her yet. Have to think about summer dresses for all the other girls too, at last Winter seems to have lost it’s battle (but I really hope I haven’t jinxed the weather!!!)
Take care everyone
Great auction!! Were any of the dresses won by the same bidder? Inquiring minds and all that.
Charlotte, I’m glad to hear that Ron is doing okay. I know it is hard for both of you each time he has to go to the ER so I’m praying for you. You said he has congestive heart failure. David is on Entresto and that is supposed to be good for heart failure. David doesn’t have heart failure but it was the only thing that would stabilize his blood pressure. It tends to be erratic. It was a last resort because it is more expensive but it in combination with something else is working perfectly.
Spaghetti for dinner before trick or treating. I don’t believe I’ve heard of that before but both Linda and Joy said they’ve done that. I think my mother would just resort to something like tuna fish sandwiches. Since my second sister was born four years after my first sister and my third sister was born five years after my second sister, it seems for years my mother had a small child to take trick or treating. Not to mention she was helping us older kids with our costumes so something quick and easy was a necessity. We didn’t have drive-through fast food back then.
I saw an article and a map on the internet this morning showing weather in the U.S. over the next couple weeks. Nothing much for us here but I saw where California is requiring some areas to evacuate for fear of debris slides, the Pacific Northwest is having some very bad weather, the middle of the country is expecting severe weather with tornados and the NE is expecting a serious nor’easter. Saying prayers that everyone in these areas will be safe. Thankfully no more fires for California.
I love Molly’s kitchen and how nice that Linda found the spaghetti set on sale.
I think I covered everything. There was a lot to talk about today.
Barbara, we will be cheering for David. If he listens to his medical team and his body, all should go well.
Did Skyy have his surgery today? How did it go?
Jeanne, Congratulations on those auctions! I was watching but sitting on both hands! They were worth every penny. Good luck finishing that painting, I know it will be beautiful.
Charlotte, Prayers for you and Ron. Those trips to the ER are scary and exhausting.
Linda, Thank you for cheering me up with your Halloween displays and motivating me to get out and buy some candy. Our Halloween dinner tradition has always been a pot of chili on the stove that can be reheated if the doorbell rings too often.
Sally, I just logged box #50. That sounds like a lot but I don’t think we are even half way. We did not get much done this weekend due to a farewell gathering with hubby’s office friends on Saturday and a send off from the neighborhood Sunday afternoon Tears shed and many sad good byes. We have met more friends in Tennessee in 10 years than we did in 40 years in Louisiana. We were blessed to have been surrounded by warm and welcoming coworkers and neighbors of all ages. I will heed your advice; my shoulder from the injury in April has been aching.
Debbie
Take it easy, Debbie. Doing to much as you get more tired is setting yourself up for an injury.
How perfectly lovely that you have made such strong connections in your 10 years. It’s a testament to how well you have worked to blend in with your work and environment communities. Hard to leave, but bravo! Life well-lived!
Dear Jeanne, thanks for posting the lovely photos. I hope you have been getting some rest between your painting assignments.
