I tried, really I did! I wanted to get my whole sewing room back in order, but too many things kept me from it… They were good things, but I didn’t have enough time to spend in my sewing room. There are still areas that need to be gone through, but at least I can see the tops of my tables and most things are put away. It’s a good thing! :o)
So I’ll show you what it looks like as of tonight…
It’s back in the corner that still needs work… It feels better already just to be able to see the tops of things and know that “most” thinks are where they are supposed to be.
My hubby said he wants to get the steps finished before I show any more pictures…
I found another charm to use for Josefina’s skirt and blouse set… it’s not as bright as the dreamcatcher, but I think it will work.
I also wanted to show you a lace bed spread I found upstairs. I knew I had it “somewhere” but I stumbled across it when I was putting something away. It must be a bed skirt instead of a table cloth because it is the same on the 2 long sides and on one end. Then one end is a straight edge and not scalloped like the others… it would need a solid colored bedspread under it and probably a twin bed, but isn’t it pretty? It’s handmade, I’m sure and I can’t imagine how much TIME this must have taken…It is in mint condition… I just wanted to show you…
Well, I know this was a bit of hodge podge, but it’s what I came up with…
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Your sewing room looks wonderful! I guess whatever “mess” is left is hidden in that corner, as it all looks good to me!
That new charm is very pretty, but I’m wondering if you might need to shorten the chain just a bit? I wear a Medic Alert necklace that hits me right about where the charm hits Josefina, and it drives me crazy! Makes my stomach itch, too. (Of course, that probably wouldn’t be a problem for Josefina!! ) Of course, the chain mine is on is one without a clasp of any kind; I think I’m going to take it to a jeweler and see if they can shorten it a little and add a clasp. I have other M.A. things I can wear while it’s being fixed.
Oh, that crocheted bedspread (NOT a bed Skirt) is lovely!! Mom and dad used to have one for one of the beds in their house, and mom had a pink satin (or maybe taffeta) under-spread she put down first. It was perfectly sized so it didn’t hang below the crocheted lace. I always thought it was a nice idea, as you could change the under spread (color) if you wanted a different look. As I think about it, I think mom had it on the guest bed, but after they moved to their last home, they got twin beds for the guest room, and I think she may have given the crocheted one to someone.
Your sewing room looks beautiful and so does Josefina 🙂 The bedspread is lovely, too.
Sewing room looks great.. hope you can get in there soon and creatively mess it up with new projects! Lol
Beautiful crocheted spread.. would be even more lovely with a solid color underneath it to showcase the design:)
I started one of those crocheted spread years ago.. gave up when I realized how many squares I would actually need to make and sew together. A labor of love for sure!!❤️
Hi Jeanne,
Your sewing studio looks perfectly organized to me. The new charm for Josefina”s ensemble is pretty. I’m sure there are ladies chomping at the bit to bid on her lovely ensemble. Are you listing it soon?
I was reading along when I came to your beautiful crocheted bed topper… I am such a sucker for crocheted items… table cloths, doilies and ohhh a bed topper! Wow. Next thing I knew I was looking at crocheted things on ebay.. It’s my problem/issue, most days I start a project and get sidetracked and forget what I was doing. I’d call it an old age thing but I believe I’ve been like this my whole life. LOL Anyway I’m back, I only let myself browse for ten minutes. I’ll pull out my collection of crocheted items today it’ll take my mind off visiting eBay and buying.LOL
What a beautiful bed topper Jeanne! And what a treasure! Have you had it long? Did someone make it for you? I think it’s perfect for a full size bed but would work for a twin also.
Well I have to scoot… I’m off to the oral surgeon so he can implant a post. It’s been three months since my failed crown was removed. I really have a distain for dental visits.. Oh dear TMI haha
Hugs to all and enjoy your day
Ingrid
Great job on cleaning. 🙂
The new necklace charm for Josefina works in dimension, But I believe the era is off. My memory is failing me, but those heads with flowing hair were from a much later time than Josefina, or so I think.
I’ve seen a lot of those crocheted coverlets. Some are being reproduced in China nowadays believe it or not. Yours looks so pretty displayed on a bed. I think it would work in your new guest room with that Laura Ashley piece, but maybe folded across the bottom of the bed so the bedspread would show as well. Has to work somewhere. I like it. 🙂
Doesn’t sound like George wants to add that platform/porch to your entry. Maybe that is a project for another time. It would add to the esthetics though. 🙂
So, has the cleaning jag spurred a new idea for one of your dolls? Wonder who will be next? Excited. 🙂
Now I remember. The pendant looks to me to be Art Nouveau. 🙂
m is looking very nice.
Yes, Joy, that does look Art Nouveau. Here’s one I found quickly

The bedspread is beautiful, Jeanne. I have the one my grandmother made all of ecru crochet thread. It would fit my full sized bed as it did my grandparents, but I would fear little kitty paws on it. It also has the raised flowers. I cherish it and her quilts.
That should have said that Your sewing room is looking very nice. Hmm, wonder what happened.
Hi!
Well, yesterday Joy mentioned making an extended step/landing by the door which sounded like a great idea to me. Always something, right, Jeanne?? Good luck.
All the pictures of all the stuff at the antiques stores reminded me how much I used to love going to those places and buying wonderful things. Now, I find them overwhelming and no longer tempting in the least. I am delighted, however, that you got away to have fun doing that with a friend, Jeanne. Yay!
Josefina’s necklace is becoming a pickle, isn’t it? Wouldn’t making a couple strands of beads in the colors of the outfit work well? Or did that option leave with Rebecca and her supplies?
Love those crochet spreads, and this is a real beauty, Jeanne. Do find a place for it to enjoy it, preferably where it won’t get much use and require washing. I had one made by my awesome great aunt that was made for a double bed and I used it with such pride and fond memories. Now it is in a chest back East. Maybe it’s time for a resurrection next time I go back.
Sitting here in St. Francis hospital as my hubby sleeps off anesthesia and dilaudid. Prostate removal. Came through well, but it will be up to a couple weeks before finding out if everything will be OK cancer wise. I was amazed how many people about my age, waiting in the surgical waiting room were not wearing masks even though required by law. They had to have them on to get into the building. But then, I suppose, they all got severe cases of “Oh, my freedoms!” Grrr. Sure made my BP escalate. They were asked many times to put them back on. “Oh, yes, of course!” Pull them up, then immediately pull them back down. There is no shortage of stupid or selfishness these days. Anyway, with luck we might go home tomorrow, though technically, he could go home today. Oy. Give me a break on all fronts!
Anyway, that’s my story today. Hope everyone is doing well, and that you sewing ladies are getting some fun sewing in. I have some fun Luca outfits coming in soon…and the red headed Luca in another few weeks.
Hugs all around,
Sally
Definitely thinking of you and husband. So sorry for the inconsiderate not wearing their masks. And in a hospital setting too. Awful. Hope they let him stay the night and release tomorrow. Either way, drive safe on your journey home.
Thank you, Joy. He is settling in at the hospital and I am eating my take out cafeteria dinner in the room provided by the hospital. I expect we will be sprung tomorrow. All will be well and grateful for your concern. Hope you had a really good day. And Fernanda DID arrive yesterday along with the fedora hat outfit right into Giff’s arms directly from the postman. Oh brother. Will open these when we are back and let you know.
Well, maybe the new arrivals at home will be forgotten. 🙂 So glad they have a room for you. You must have good medical coverage. 🙂 I think waiting a day instead of that long drive home is a good idea. At least nurses won’t be waking you up every few hours to do vitals etc. Keep your spirits up and can’t wait to see your Fernanda. Take care.
Dear Sally, sending prayers your way.
Dear Dorothy,
Your concern and prayers are very much appreciated. Thank you so much! He’s doing well and we may be heading back to Salida tomorrow. Definitely Thursday.
Hope your day was a fun one.
I have one of the tablecloths too that my great-grandmother crocheted during the Depression. My mother couldn’t figure out how she was able to buy the thread. I used it once with the Dickens Royal Doulton dishes and little houses for a centerpiece. I liked using them better with a dark red tablecloth.
As I mentioned yesterday, like Sally, antique stores make me kind of anxious now, all that “stuff.” Jeanne seems to find neat stuff now and then, though.
Thanks for sharing your table scape. Love hearing how you decorate with your china. Maybe the crocheted tablecloth is more for springtime. I would love to see it. 🙂
Dear Jeanne, your sewing room looks very nice. I love seeing the dolls all lined up waiting for their turns to model new creations.
