Day two! Let’s see if this goes better…

Thanks for your patience while my blog is kind of under construction…Claudine worked for HOURS yesterday and then again this evening.

We think the moderation issues are all taken care of…

The font was changed to a bigger size… I hope that helps…

I guess you noticed the new blue color in the header area and a few other new things.

We tried to pick a new layout (theme) that was close to my old one. There are all these codes you have to type in to get things to work…

She could only get the “previous” and “next” buttons to work on your cell phones, if you turned your phone sideways…that was strange.

If you click on the “blog” tab in the black bar, it will bring you to the most current post on my blog. You can also click on the picture of the little girl sewing and the latest post will come up.

Anything in the black bar can be opened by clicking it.

The layout is slighltly different from before and there is are 5 blog post titles with a few lines to start that post. If you click on the title that post will open and you’ll see the Ebay auction pictures, the Etsy pictures, the most recent posts, the subscribe area, the tagged words that can help you find those things, and maybe something else I have forgotten.

The SEARCH bar is now at the top…you can use it to search for Civil War dresses, little Darlings, Blue dreses, collars, tutorials, recipes, etc…whatever you want.

There is a new “bubble” at the top right hand side that has a number in it… those are the number of comments left…if you click on it, you will be taken to the comments. You can leave your comment at the bottom.

I’ve tried to think of everything that I needed to tell you… I am JUST like you and not very happy when things change, but I had no choice in this. My theme had expired and I had to find another one that would work… let’s give this a try and see if it will be okay…

Thanks again everyone
Blessings, Jeanne

This is going to take some getting used to. When I click on the headline/link from my email, it takes me to a really plain and very WHITE page with HUGE typeface (which–sorry–I do NOT like, the other font/size was easier to read); there are not sidebar pictures or links or anything like we are used to. However, when I click on the top picture, it takes me to a page that looks a bit more like we’re used to (still with that HUGE font, however), and that’s sort of okay. BUT….in order to leave a comment, we have to click on that bubble, and that brings us back to that very, glaringly WHITE page with no pictures/sidebar/etc. again! Arrrggghh!!

Any chance you can change it back to what it was in a month or so?! (As a side note, a couple of years ago, MS took away the option to control the brightness of our computer screens, and when you’ve had cataract surgeries (as I have, that so-bright screen is really hard to look at–and of course the brightness is So. Much. Worse. when the page is mostly white!!)

I should add, the typeface for writing comments is teeny-tiny!! How about a compromise between the that and the blog post font?!

Nice to see that my contact info automatically fills in as it should–if I start in the “name” part; I still have to check to save my name, etc., though!

Thank you all for your concern. I wasn’t able to get in to see my doc today; will try tomorrow for one of her walk-in spots, but I emailed her this afternoon, to let her know what’s been going on, so hopefully she’ll send a note to the front desk so a spot will be saved for me when I try calling in again. Their office opens at 8, and that’s like the middle of the night for me (plus I’m not sleeping well), so here’s hoping….I’m still having some dizziness issues.

When you place one index finger on each side of the page and move them toward the outer side of the screen, the page enlarges.

  3. Charlotte Trayer I hope you feel better soon and get into the doctor right away.

Sorry I have been around as life threw a curve ball and my health has been all over the place. Will it ever end…I doubt it. Well one day….lol.

I am late to the new blog theme but first want to say Congrats to your daughter and future son in law. I love small wedding they are so romantic and focus on the bride and groom rather than 200 guests. It is not about the size of the wedding or the thousands of dollars spent about is about the couple.

So the new blog sounds like you and your niece put a ton of work into it. The theme is one of the old ones so it was bound to happen. Along the years I had many blog on different platforms so they were constantly being changed.

Personally I think the center column is way to narrow and the white is blinding. I never remember it being that white before. I think the lightest color in your background would look nice and make the column wider. The post font is very dark and the font is huge in some places. I use a pc to view your blog so that always looks different. I see you used WordPress to create this or used one of the basic themes. I haven’t used them for years but once you create you blog everything should automatically convert for a tablet or phone. I know it does in Blogger.

Good luck getting it back to look how you wanted it and with all the wedding plans. The blog can wait….your the mother of a bride and it is coming up quickly.

Jeanne, things are improving! However, there is still too much white on the sides. I think what Sandra mentioned about the middle column being too narrow is right! Maybe widening it will make it easier on the eyes. Otherwise, the “old “ things are coming back and I can now navigate much better. I do have to click onto the blog twice in order to get what I previously got while clicking once. Out of that, it is pretty good for me now, just don’t like all the white!

You are getting there. All the people objecting to the glaring white are right. I am concerned about new readers who will not have all of these instructions.
So — yes, this is progress, but more changes will help.

Oh, my eyes! Too bright in the background and the reply type that I’m typing now is way too light. With the white glare and the not dark enough reply type, ugh. I really have to keep blinking to even type. However, when the replies are published, they look the right color. Please make the reply typing darker as it is gray and not black. But, that white background everywhere is very hard to take. I also, now have to hit the top “three” times to get to here so I can reply. Seems like too much. And when replying, the side bar with old photos and listings for old Ebay etc. are gone. Just blank too bright white space remains. When looking at the published replies above, the type is now way too large and something about the font makes it really hard for me to read for long. Not as bad as the color/font that I’m typing on now, but uncomfortable to read. Perhaps the published replies can be smaller like it used to be? And the reply type here darker? My post right now looks muddy, but I’m sure will change to the huge type with the gray background like above when posted. The header looks nice, but the contrast with the bright white below not so nice. And again, here there are no photos on the side to refer back to. So sorry this had to happen at this time. Good luck. I’m headed to get my eyedrops.

And to continue, the blog replies are no longer posted after your entry. The only thing after your entry now is your last blog post. The only way to see the reply posts is to hit that tiny reply number at the top. No space to see the current replies, so everything kind of runs together. Is there a way to put the current replies after your post? Then older posts on the side bar like before to go to if one is so inclined? Just trying to help. 🙂
On to a dolly note. I’m almost finished with the blouse that goes with the checked shortalls I recently made. Not sure which of the RRFF wants to wear it though. Maybe they don’t like it as I haven’t heard any chatter at all. Maybe they are up to something?

  7. The type font to read the post is fine on mine, but, yes, there is too much white. It’s blinding. 🙁 Any chance you can change it to another color? The blue in your header? I can go and change the brightness on my computer settings and then change in back, but I don’t want to have to do that each time. I’m posting my comment by just looking at my keyboard and typing. I’m on a laptop which might make a difference in what I see. The type is ls small and gray as I type and once it posts it is large and dark black.

What’s really weird is that the pictures show up on the sidebar at first, but then when I go to comment they disappear.
Sorry to complain. I’m sure your niece and you have worked very hard to get what it is now.

RRFF dolls are very expensive for me, but “doll sickness” made me have one little RRFF Kelsey. I can not wait. Does any of the bloggers have one?
The blog looks better and better – you can get used to it.
    Best regards.

Congratulations on Kelsey. Kind of funny, but we named our first daughter Kelsey over 40 years ago. 🙂 I have Callie and Rory. I think they can wear clothes from the Little Darlings and probably others. I haven’t made anything yet as they only recently arrived. Have to check out some patterns. Have fun with her. She’ll be perfect for some winter knits I think. 🙂

Hi Jeanne, first of all congratulations to Rebecca and I hope all the wedding preparations go more smoothly than your blog issues.
Like many others I am not big on change but sometimes it is forced on to us. I don’t seem to have a problem with the glare, I am pleased that the comments are now bigger than yesterday. I looked at your gallery and at your dolls (some of the dolls I don’t remember seeing!). When I click on the e mail( I use a lap top rather than my phone) I just get the words but when I click on “blog” in the menu bar I get all the pictures we usually get so it seems all pretty much the same now.to me. Hope that helps

Getting more used to this format, JEANNE, and it sure is nice not having to wait for moderation of comments. That is huge. Comments about the whiteness of the sides should be taken seriously, I think. Agreeable Gray??? Just kidding. But something easier on the eyes would be welcome.

ANAELLE was still available at Samantha’s last night in case anyone felt they had missed out on her. Her price is starting to get stupid on eBay. It always amazes me when people get into bidding frenzies or do a BIN without doing any other looking around. Very often the item is still available at the original price at the same time people are going wacko on EBay.

ALINA, what good news that you have Kelsey coming! That is great and she is fun, I am certain. I have Sydney and was delighted to find she can share shoes with my Little Darlings. Some LD outfits fit, but as Joy said, she will be a fun size for you to do your knitting and crocheting for. Very excited for you. Just wondering which of the full size RRFF are you most fond of?

More rain in Salida. Very grateful, but it seems so strange to have it feel “humid” here in CO! It’s all relative, depending on where you live, right, my sisters on the Mississippi??

JEANNE, thanks for your diligence. Just about everything you have mentioned that needed tinkering made my eyeballs spin at the speed of light. Holy cow. Hang in there, it’s getting better, and we sure appreciate all your hard work.

Last thing, JEANNE…..you mentioned a “bubble” in the upper right that has a number indicating the number of comments. I see no bubble. Does anyone else?
    Gracias.
