A new look to my blog…

Well, let’s see what this does for you today… Claudine and her daughter worked for over 4 hours trying to get things put back together in some kind of way that incorporated as many of your comments as possible. Thank you Claudine and Abby!!!

She started over with a new theme and said it seemed to have more ways of making things similar to the way they were before… a few things are different, but mostly it’s the same. The page is more filled in with boxes and there is less of a border around the edges.

The posts will come to you with several titles on the page, then you can click the “read more” (in blue) at the end of the few lines about that post, OR you can click on the words “Blog Home” OR you can click on the picture of the little girl sewing… that will bring you to the full post for today… that’s the way most blogs are set up now… with more than one post title on a page and you click on the one you want to read.

Claudine was having some trouble getting the right code for the cream color on the pages when they are opened up to read. She got rid of that brilliant white color…much easier on the eyes!! She texted me a little after 1:00 a.m. letting me know she kept working on it and finally figured it out!!! Thank you SO SO much!!

Each person gets their own box with their comment in it and anyone can reply to it and it will stay in their box. Also the pictures on the right side bar don’t disappear when you try to write a comment. She changed the font color to black on the comments too.

I think this just might work… :o) Please let me know what you think…

I also thought it was time for a picture instead of JUST WORDS! So here are some of the flowers Rebecca bought to make her wedding bouquet… She wanted to keep her bouquet, so she bought silk flowers instead of having real ones. She just has them all bunched together now, but when we get around to making it, I think it will be so pretty!

We went back to the place today and got a tour of all the places where pictures could be taken and got to see the lodge and the pavilion. They had the 5th and the 19th of September available. She picked the 5th… which is OUR Anniversary too! I think that’s kind of special…
I told her in a few years we could go on a double date together! She just smiled… :o) Yikes, I think we’ve got 31 days to pull this together!

Well, I’ll see you tomorrow… I’ve been on the phone doing a webex kind of thing with Claudine, watching her move things around on my blog and talking to me as she did it… so it’s time for bed for me too! Thank you again Claudine and Abby!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Ahhh….this is so so SO much better! The beige is much easier on the eyes–thank you for listening! The overall “look” is more familiar, too.

I notice when I put in my email address first, instead of filling in my name, it repeats my email address, and then, in the line below, says “http://gravatar.com/clt22409”. This doesn’t happen if I put my name in first. I wonder why? Not a biggie, just something I noticed.

The mix of colors for Rebecca’s bouquet is very striking, and quite appropriate for a Sept. wedding. It’s still summer, but almost fall, and the colors reflect that. Will her attendant(s) be wearing something in those colors? Inquiring minds and all that, you know!!

Yesterday Barbara asked if it was “the” Dyan Cannon, whose father married my friend Betty, and yes, it is. She is a lovely person, and something rare–a Christian in Hollywood!

Also, Barbara, last week I spiked a temp for a few days, and I figure it’s my annual summer sinus infection, which was why I wanted to get in to see my doctor. I’m doing much better, and have an appt. but not till next Wed. I had been trying to get in for one of her walk-in appts. (for which you can call ahead on the same day) but missed getting one three days in a row, so decided, well, next week is better than not at all. There are one or two other minor things I can talk to her about at the same time. Thank you for asking. (I’m glad your back is starting to do better!)

I sure enjoyed reading all the wedding stories!! That was a fun question, and something I really enjoyed. Thanks to all who shared.

How nice you got to meet Dyan Cannon. I’ve always liked her and her performances. So glad to hear she’s everything I thought. I never heard bad things about her at all.

    2. Thank you Charlotte,
I have no clue about the gravatar thing that happened… I’m fortunate to understand any of this at all!
Those are just the flowers she plans to use for her bouquet, but I think they are pretty just all bunched together… when we get the bouquet “actually” made, I hope it looks just as pretty! :o)
She isn’t having any attendants…it’s just her and her guy… REALLY simple… I think there might be 19 people on the list now… that’s even more than she wanted but I think it might be 19…
I hope you continue to get better and when you see your doctor, you can just “visit” and not have to discuss much “medical” stuff!
I’ve enjoyed seeing what people wrote about weddings too!
      Thanks Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

Oh yes, Jeanne, so much better! I like the beige lacy background, so much easier on the eyes! This is so much better, since I don’t have to keep clicking to get farther along, and that “bubble’ thing is gone! That helps! All the features that made your blog yours, are right there now without having to wonder if you still have them. This is way more user friendly! A big thank you to Claudine and Abby!

Rebecca’s bouquet is beautiful and so like her! With her red hair, they will accent each other! She has the perfect coloring for her “slmost fall” wedding! This is going to be an exciting time for you, so take all the time you need to help with the wedding. Most of us have been there and understand!

    1. Thanks Linda,
I’m glad Claudine was able to get me back up and running for now… I had too many things on my plate all at the same time and she truly rescued me! :o)

We decided making her bouquet was one of the things we could do and get “out of the way.” So making it the way she wants will get top attention next week… her last day of work is Monday… She can’t wait to just focus on her wedding stuff…

      Thanks Linda,
This came up so quickly… caught us all off guard!
      Blessings, Jeanne

Jeanne all the changes to the blog are perfect. I love the wider column for blog posts and that they continue on the page. Claudine and her daughter did a great job. Big thanks to both of them and you also. I image you were pulling out hair.

Rebecca’s bouquet is gorgeous. I can’t believe you have just a month to pull this wedding together. Small or large it is always so much more work than you think. A very busy time for you and no worries about not being here or posting everyday. We have all been there so we understand.

    1. Thank you Sandra,
I’m glad you like the new look. Claudine and her daughter, Abby, are quite the team… Claudine was trying to figure out things and Abby was her “researcher” trying to find the answers. I WAS a bit crazy and since I knew nothing about it, I was just stuck and lost!

I can’t believe we only have a month to do everything either… Rebecca’s last day at work is Monday so that will help A LOT! And it’s going to be a very small wedding, so that helps too! But still there is plenty to do… I’m going to try to find time every day to be here…

      Thanks Sandra,
      Blessings, Jeanne

I liked the little bubble at the top to get to the Comments. A newcomer to the blog wouldn’t know to click on the blue line to get to the Comments. Is it possible to have them show up right away without having to click on the blue line? My sympathies for having to deal with this.

Rebecca is wise to have a small wedding, especially given the short lead time. Having it at a special place is a great idea as their people take care of so many details details or know where to have them taken care of. Beautiful bouquet!

    1. HI Susette,
Every theme was different and this one didn’t have that little bubble, but Claudine put it in the in the line with the date, and hopefully it will be seen there…

I’m not sure how it works, but I’m guessing as soon as the first comment is left below the post, they will stay there as more are added. I didn’t see what it looked like before any comments were made. In fact, Claudine was still working on it when I went to bed… and added the “comments” to the date, and my name line…

We feel really good about the couple that will be helping her with the wedding. They were so accommodating and will be there to take them to various spots on the golf course where pretty pictures can be taken… It was nice to have someone who will be looking out for things on that special day…

I’m looking forward to a smaller wedding too… much nicer to visit with the guests…
      Blessings, Jeanne

How interesting. When I first click on your blog email, it comes up looking just like it used to with nice black type and comfortable not glary white and not too large background. Love it! When I click again, I get this. Nice overall background, but uncomfortable yellowish background everywhere and on the published comments which are dwarfed by the overly large boxes. Can you shrink all of that space? I can put up with the names in blue though. 🙂 The final comment box size is kind of embarrassing. It is still uncomfortable for me to read with that strange yellowish background. Just look at the first email type/background color and compare. Can this be changed to that which is perfect for my eyes? Such a nag here. I will continue to read the first email format which definitely saves my eyes, but doesn’t allow me to comment or read comments. I don’t particularly like the note “4 Comments on my new look for my blog”. Why not just say COMMENTS or Comments Below? It sounds like you have just selected 4 comments or whatever number for others to view. I’m not sure newcomers will know that this is where you may comment. Sorry to be negative after all of your work, but it’s not working for me.
That said, Rebecca has some lovely oranges and rusts and purples in her perfect bouquet. I think the gathered bunch look is perfect as it is. 🙂 What a great idea that can be displayed in a vase during the fall season every year. So clever. Love it. And glad to hear that the venue has a pavilion for cover in case of rain, but since it has a lodge, guess it could also take place indoors should there be a need.
Finally finished the blouse for the overall outfit. Had to take it apart to shorten the sleeves. Anyway, I’ll see if I can snap a pic, after the sun comes out. We actually have drizzle from the fog today. First dampness in so long. The dead grass is loving it. 🙂

    1. HI Joy,
I’m sorry you are having trouble liking the new format… As far as the blocks for the comments…that’s just the way this theme was set up… At least you can still scroll up and see the other peoples comments AND the side bar pictures don’t disappear.
The color for the background was taken from the damask tan and cream print I already had. The color is the lighter design. On my computer it matches perfectly. I did just check on my phone and it is a bit yellowish on there…

I asked Claudine about the “Comments” area and she said that’s the way this theme is set up too… It uses boxes for each person’s comments…
I’ll live with it for a while and see how things seem to everyone but it will probably have to stay on hold until after the wedding… I was just so thrilled that Claudine was able to put to together the way she did…

Rebecca’s flowers she picked are very pretty, even like you said, just in the bunch without being arranged at all… She knew what she wanted and this made her very happy.

We have been looking on Pinterest and Google for ideas on how to decorate the pavilion for the ceremony. Even if it happens to rain, it’s pretty safe under there… We’re going to use the Lodge for decorating for the reception…
I just want it to be pretty… Cindy might come early to help us! Yay!

Congrats on getting some sewing done… Josefina is still standing on my cutting table in her dress… and she will be for a little while longer.

      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    Good morning!
Wow! Claudine, Abby and you, Jeanne, are really rocking it here now. Well done and as we all are saying, the hugest thanks ever!
I also enjoyed the wedding stories and thank you all for sharing. My hubby’s and my wedding was for 100 guests, early afternoon with hors D’oeuvres, champagne and cake. Mom and I went to friends’ gardens and with their permission, got all the flowers to decorate the alter simply. The weather was glorious and we were able to have the reception largely outdoors on a beautiful marble patio. All of the other weddings I have attended, mostly, have been what I call ‘Hollywood productions “. So, having “small” in 31 days is very doable, and you know what? If you forget a detail or two, who is going to truly care??? It’s about celebrating TWO couples on a very special, sacred day. The rest is just trimmings. I love, love, love that they chose the same day as you and George. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ The bouquet of silk flowers, very smart. Will she have a small bouquet to toss?
Everyone have a great day. Sun is back in Salida and everything is so incredibly green for all the rain. Those of you needing rain, I hope it’s coming your way.
Hugs to all. Take care of yourself, Jeanne and don’t forget to pause and take some deep breaths.

    1. HI Sally,
I was so thrilled when Claudine said she would help me… (understatement… she did it ALL!) It’s workable and pretty and updated a little bit and something fresh. I just celebrated my 7th Anniversary of writing this blog on August 1st and was gone to Tennessee when all this happened, so I’ve never gotten to celebrate with you all… I usually do “something” to celebrate…

I’m with you… the place and the pictures taken is what Rebecca was most concerned about… and we think both are solved… now it’s just the decorating part… there are SO SO SO many ideas out there…

It’s just going to be her bouquet… no bridesmaids, and the rest of us are all married, except Kristoffer… not sure he’d like to catch a bouquet… :o)

I am taking some deep breaths… practically every hour! ;o)

      Thanks Sally,
      Blessings, Jeanne

Hi Jeanne.. the blog is back and it looks great. I think it’s pretty easy to navigate. Thank you Claudine and Abby your help it’s much appreciated! Jeanne I love the flower choices Rebecca choose, very appropriate for a fall wedding.
I love flowers, you could say flowers are my thing! For Danielle’s September wedding she wanted a very simple Roses and Gerbera Daisy bouquet in fuchsia. She was so stressed over everything that she gave me full control over the entire wedding.. oh I ran things by her but her anxiety kicked in and she’d say whatever you want mom. So I ordered bulk flowers from Sams Club to save on the florist bill. In two days I made all the flower pieces myself. One bridesmaid helped with the table arrangements thankfully. Bouquets, Boutonnières, corsages, 2 large arrangements for the ceremony and flowers to decorate the wedding arbor and of course 24 table arrangements … Oh my! My sons wedding was so much easier.. I wasn’t allowed to help at all. lol
Hope everyone is well.. Charlotte prayers are coming your way and I hope you are on the mend.
    Hugs to all
    Ingrid

    1. HI Ingrid,
I hope you are doing okay… still praying for you!
Rebecca’s flowers will make the prettiest bouquet when she gets them sorted out and put the way she wants them… I almost thing it’s pretty enough the way it is… just tie a pretty ribbon around them and viola!

Ooooo, you might have to share some pictures of all your flower arrangements and corsages… it sounds like it was a flower garden at her wedding…

Thanks Ingrid… may the Lord wrap His loving arms around you and hold you tight!

      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Thank you Claudine and Abby! Yes, Jeanne, this is so, so much better. The cream is so much softer on your eyes.
What a nice idea for Rebecca to use silk flowers for her wedding bouquet, so she can keep it. She can also display it each year on their anniversary. In Victorian/Edwardian times they waxes flowers to preserve them. There is a place today that I think freeze dries the bouquet and puts it under a glass cloche and you can have your fresh bouquet last forever.
She’s picked a lovely time as well considering she’s an “autumn” on the color wheel. I remember reading the book “Color Me Beautiful” back in the late 1970’s- early 1980’s to determine what were my best colors.

    1. Forgot to say that it’s wonderful that George and Rebecca and her new husband will share anniversary days. How special.

      1. Rebecca said, “I’ll never forget your anniversary and you’ll never forget ours!” :o)

    2. Thank you Laura,
I’m glad your eyes can take this new look… Yes, again, Thank you to Claudine and Abby..
It will be nice to have her bouquet as a reminder of their special day.
I remember that book…even had a copy of it at one time… I’m a winter and might still have my little folder with the colors that worked for me… memories! :o)
      Thanks Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

Wow! That was my first thought when I reached your blog today. Very nice and very pleasant. Rebecca’s flowers are my favorite colors. I just love Fall colors. Even though Fall does not officially come till near the end of September, when I lived in PA it was starting to cool off in early September so it was feeling like Fall. We always had light cardigans on for the first day of school.

Sean and Dionne’s wedding was a quickly planned one too but it came off lovely. It was her family our family and a few friends. I don’t remember the actual count. We have a wonderful florist in town who let us borrow what they used to transport the flowers so we handled the flower delivery and arranging ourselves. The “wedding committee” at the church helped set up the parish hall for the reception. This included ironing several tablecloths, setting up the table for the cake, punch and finger food and doing the table centerpieces. And we could stay as long as wanted. Our daughter, Andrea, opted for a venue wedding in the town where her fiancĂŠ’s parents lived but a bit of a distance from us. We wanted her to get married in the church we had been going to for years but that’s not what she wanted. She did agree to have the priest do the service. The location was rented for a certain number of hours and when the time was up we were handed whatever we had brought for the set-up and basically escorted out. That was annoying but otherwise it was a lovely outdoor wedding and reception. March, especially early March (5th), is a very unpredictable month for an outdoor wedding but we were blessed with the finest of weather.

I did some work in my front garden yesterday and am pleased to say I have not suffered from doing it. It’s my first physical labor since my fall. But I think I’ll wait a little to finish up. It did aggravate the muscle/nerve situation I’ve been having a bit so I’m not going to push it until after my next chiropractor appointment.

    1. Thank you Barbara,
I’m glad you like what you see… so far everything seems to be working… I’ve tried all the links and the pictures on the side work… and getting to my Etsy site… it all seems to work…

It was fun shopping with her for the flowers… she knew what she wanted and as we went down the aisles she’d pull out a color and it was either a yes or a no… she was pretty certain about which ones she liked. It will make a very pretty bouquet when we get to it. It already looks pretty just holding all the flowers like she’s doing…

I’m looking forward to just the small number of people who will be there… more intimate and easier to visit with everyone. We will be meeting some of these people for the first time… eek!

The couple who run the Country Club seem really nice and easy to work with… they said they don’t have anyone booked on the Monday morning after the wedding, so whoever was staying at the Lodge could just take their time getting up and out of there… no time limits to getting off the property! We were impressed at how accommodating they were.

I’m glad you were able to do some work in your flowers and not get injured again… I hope your chiropractor continues to help you until you are totally well..
      Thanks Barbara,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. Marilyn from Colorado

I like the new look — it looks both familiar and fresh. Your collaborators are to be congratulated.
Rebecca’s bouquet looks beautiful, even unfinished. A small wedding will be nice, and safer in the time of Delta. Delta has produced a new medical mantra — “Younger, sicker, quicker.” Avoid it.
Do you have a dress? When a friend married, she asked me to make a dozen desserts because she felt a lot of people didn’t like wedding cake. That was fun, though time-consuming. You also have to have suitable transportation and storage. A caterer friend warns that butter-based frosting doesn’t hold up in the heat.
I think we put my sister’s homemade wedding together in two weeks, so I know you can do this, and make it lovely and memorable.

    1. HI Marilyn,
I have thanked Claudine and Abby several times and plan to thank them more with each day that it continues to work. It was such a relief to me to have Claudine fix everything… She is amazing at what she does… she does IT work setting up new programs and software for hospitals to be able to communicate with each other… she is a team leader and tops in my opinion.

A small wedding WILL be nice… I’m looking forward to it… I can’t imagine lining up 5 or 8 bridesmaids and coordinating all them at the same time… I think that’s one of those weddings where you definitely need a wedding planner… (I think I’M Rebecca’s wedding planner!) :o)

I don’t have a dress yet, but I have an idea of what I’d like… and once Rebecca is done working (on Monday), we can go some places and look more…

She thinks she wants to keep it simple for the food… chicken on a stick, meatballs, fruit, veggie trays, some sweets, small cakes, etc…

      2 weeks? Whew… that’s quick… I bet it was beautiful…
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

Dear Jeanne, this site looks good. I am so glad it got worked out.

How wonderful that your daughter selected your wedding date! That is so sweet.

Thanks for keeping us in the wedding loop. There is definitely a “buzz” of excitement here on the sofa (smile).
