First of all, I need to tell you what’s going on with my blogsite… Sarah told me my “theme” has expired and it won’t update anything until it’s changed. The “theme” is all the ways your website is set up… Sarah set it up the way it is now for me… It’s the background colors, where you want your pictures… on the left or the right sides…do you want comments at the top or the bottom of the post… do you want to feature your Ebay listings at the side… do you want to accept comments from anyone or only those who are subscribers already… how do you want the top of the website set up… with tabs to click for other areas on your site? All those things that make up my blog are called “themes.” I need to pick a different one, but Sarah and I haven’t gotten together yet… so for now it’s still “approval needed” for all the comments… Maybe in a few days I can find time to get it worked out…
In the meantime, DO NOT click on any picture to see it bigger if you are in the middle of writing a comment.. it will erase it… sorry… it’s not something I can turn off…
So hold on just a little bit longer.
Before I talk about today’s topic… let me just show you one picture of the bedroom. It’s not finished by a long shot…There is still trim to be put up around the doors and my new bifold closet doors have to be put up. I thought I could weed out the drawers and put less furniture back in there, but there isn’t time for that right at the moment, so I had to put up my same curtains, use my same pillow shams, put the same creamy white nightstands beside the bed, use the same cream cover, etc… but I have big plans for the room as soon as things settle down a bit. It has been quite hectic around here and I suspect it might get even more so soon! :o)
Here’s what it looks like now…
There’s nothing really wrong with it, but in person, the tan and the gray sort of clash. I know it looks beigy to everyone, but I took a picture of the window trim and the wall and it’s closer to this… but not cold looking. If you ever are in a paint store look for the Sherwin Williams paint chip called Agreeable Gray… you’ll see what I mean about it being a warm gray…
It was fun moving my bed frame back in there…
If you want to read about my headboard being made from an old antique piano, click HERE.
I think I would like to make a light weight quilt from a gray and white print… maybe a geometric or even a floral print. I thought I found something today, a set of sheets to use as the top piece, but it was too light of a design and just looked like a light gray solid fabric… I want something a little more bold than that…
I love the new color and the white ceiling is incredible, but the floors are probably my favorite. It’s so clean and cool to walk on and IN YOUR BARE FEET TOO… no splinters to worry about and everywhere you look, it’s such a pretty color!
There’s lots to still do, but we HAD to get our house back in some kind of order, because on top of all the mess we have with furniture in the hallways and mattresses in my sewing room, there are boxes everywhere…
BECAUSE REBECCA IS GETTING MARRIED!! I’ve known about it since the end of June when her boyfriend came here and asked for our blessing on them getting married. He proposed to her when she went out there… but she is very private and didn’t want it out there until the other day…she said I could tell you all.
The wedding is (hopefully) going to be in September… I know… just about 7 or 8 weeks from now… so that’s why I’ve been working like crazy getting things done around here. We wanted to get the bedroom finished because her boyfriend is coming for another visit before the wedding… and we let him stay in our bedroom… it won’t be rose colored this time! Yay!
Rebecca wants to have a VERY small wedding…we’re talking only our family and his… 10-12 people at the most! That’s what she wanted… very simple and outdoors if possible… We went looking at another place today. In fact we were gone about 4-5 hours and had a great time looking at all kinds of things.
She will be moving to Pennsylvania and I can’t even let myself go there yet… She still lives with us because a few years ago we told her to save her money and stay here instead of moving out… She stayed, but apparently someone has captured her heart and now it’s time to send her off… oops…better not go there…
So my baby girl won’t be a bridesmaid this time, she’ll be the bride…
Come back tomorrow for some storage tips from Susette,
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh Jeanne, a BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Rebecca, you and George! You are finally going to be the mother of the bride!! I just knew “something” was up when you told us about Rebecca’s boyfriend taking pictures of your kitchen, then Rebecca going out of town, and there was just something that gave me the idea that a romance was in the works!
What a beautiful picture of Rebecca! She will make a lovely bride, which begs the question, are you making her dress? I know, not much time, but for a small, intimate wedding, you could make a simple, elegant gown for her. Now you have ME all excited! Isn’t your sister, Cindy, in Pennsylvania?
Your room looks a lot better in the neutral colors, but yes, it does need some other color! I know you will get there, in the meantime, you have a lot on your plate, and your room won’t be going anywhere. You will get to it when the time comes! Meanwhile, enjoy this special time with Rebecca, it will be a time to look back on with special memories!
Your bedroom looks beautiful! You and your hubby are quite the team–it’s amazing what you have done on your home. Congrats to Rebecca and your family. I am so happy for you. It’s quite the change when our babies grow up and get married–adding to our families. It takes a little getting used to-my thought are with you. Carole
Congratulations to the young man for winning Rebecca’s hand in marriage. Looking on the even brighter side, she’ll still be on the same side of the country that you are and not too far away or off globe-trotting in faraway lands. He is very fortunate and she is too. She is such a beautiful young woman 👩.
I know you love to sew things, but have you looked at places like TJMaxx or Home Goods for linens? I found it far more reasonable to buy brands even like Ralph Lauren years ago than to buy fabric for such a large project like comforters and pillow covers. Done and done! I have several sets to use as the seasons change. Scary to see the prices for the same thing in the department stores. Congratulations on everything you’ve accomplished.
Well, that was a quick move back in. I’m sure it will all come together. I’d like to see some black added. Like maybe the headboard. Maybe after the dust settles from the big WEDDING!! Yay, how exciting!
Congrats to Rebecca. Does she have a job in PA? Maybe she can transfer? Love small weddings. No fuss no muss. Coming from someone who was married in the Courthouse in Carson City, NV. No wedding dress here. Ha ha. Best check the long range weather forecast too. I’m sure it will be a wonderful wedding venue. If it were me, I’d pick your yard. So beautiful. 🙂 Such exciting times at your place as the chick leaves the nest.
Sorry to hear about all of the work needed on the blog settings etc. I’m sure it will come together.
Now another title can be added for Jeanne. Wedding planner. 🙂
What a happy post today! Best wishes to Rebecca, everyone must be on cloud nine.
The bedroom is looking wonderful so far, so much done in so little time. Do you think curtains the same color as that beautiful headboard might work best? So many choices, again. Can’t wait for the final reveal.
Did anyone happen to see the new RRFF? It’s Alice, with a little white rabbit! She looks so pretty.
Have a great day all.
Yes, I ordered Alice. There was an anniversary of some kind for the book with a tea set and cute little dishes, my downfall, available at Home Goods and I bought many of them for my granddaughter. Won’t Alice look darling on the table amid the dishes?
Oh, Susette. Congrats on Alice. I’ve been debating, but since I just received Annaelle, I think I’ll have to pass. She is lovely. 🙂
Dear Jeanne, how wonderful!!! Your daughter is beautiful.
Pennsylvania is not so far away. You have a sister here and a Sofa Sister (smile). You can visit with all of us.
I can’t wait to see your Mother-of-the-Bride outfit!
I guessed by the title that Rebecca was getting married, and I’m right. A very big congratulations to her. Will you me sewing the wedding gown? Pennsylvania isn’t that bad. Cindy lives there and she comes quite often to visit. Will Rebecca and her husband be near to Cindy? My friend’s daughter got married and moved from Ohio to South Texas. Her parents are lucky to see her each year, so be glad Rebecca is closer.
Your bedroom will be so nice when it’s finished the way you like.
Saw on Poppets and Posies that the new RRFF is Alice. She and Anaelle are/were both lovely,. Luckily, I didn’t even think about falling down either of those rabbit holes (pun intended) as I have to take a kitty for a tooth extraction because he hurt his tooth. Oh well, furbabies ALWAYS come first. I wish those would have been in the siblies size will the more affordable price.
Everything looks so beautiful Jeanne and just remember about your daughter, A son is a son till he takes a wife (That is my scenario) and a daughter is a daughter all of your life, no matter where she is. Lucky! My son lives in town near me and I never hear from him. If I had a daughter, I bet she would call me all the time and do things with me. Congratulations on her engagement and I am sure she will be very happy and make a beautiful bride. Let us know what you will be wearing as well. We want photos. I like small weddings as well, My son and his wife had 75 people, and each of them had 6 attendants and her daughter as a flower girl. Now they have ID twin baby boys 13 months old. So adorable. Is your daughter the only child? My son is my only child and his wife is one of 3 children on her mother’s side and her father, she is oldest of 3 as well. My thoughts on weddings is that everyone focuses too much on the day and not their relationship. I am not about spending a lot of money on one day, Crazy! She is smart your daughter, must get it from you. We love you!
Wow…that is one newsy post! At first I thought maybe her job transferred her…but a wedding is way more fun! She will be a beautiful bride…the red hair and pretty face! 👩🏻🦰👰♀️🤵♂️I made both daughters and one DIL’s wedding dresses. It was fun and you have enough time and she is right there for fittings. Ours were big weddings but had lots of family help and it was like a family reunion every time. The first one was 400 then 300 ish for the rest. We made the tablecloths and centerpieces but then we had more time☺️ Fun times ahead.
Love the bedroom and that headboard is beautiful! You could save a bazillion dollars buying the bedding. There are so many sites and of course your color is so “in” right now! Remember Domestications and Wayfair and even Walmart have awesome choices for such very reasonable prices and it would save you money and time! They are always having sales…now especially since there are lots of dorm rooms getting furnished.
Have fun getting in the wedding mode🤗((HUGS))
Congratulations to Rebecca and good luck. In May 2021, my eldest son Jan was married. It is a great experience for parents. Best regards.
Best wishes to your dear daughter on her upcoming marriage. Rebecca will make a very beautiful bide…I’m so happy for you Jeanne. With all your talent and creativity I can just imagine the most beautiful wedding ever being held at your home💞
How could you wait until the end of your post to tell us the amazing news?! Moreover how could you keep it to yourself. It must have been pure torture. But you’re right. It was definitely Rebecca’s call on that one. What wonderful news. I am so happy for Rebecca. You will truly be empty nesters soon, but I’m sure you will totally enjoy the next step on your parental journey. As my children moved out I took over their rooms. Sean’s room is my study, Andi’s room is the guest room and my sewing room has served many different functions during the years and for awhile it was their craft room. It kept the mess in one place.
We’ve experienced the not only move out but move away situation many times. David’s oldest moved to Vancouver, WA, for awhile when her sister moved to Portland, OR. Shana and her extended family have been back in Texas for several years (couldn’t live without A/C) but Marca and our granddaughter are still in Oregon. Andrea and Jamey moved to Arvada, CO, shortly after their wedding in 2005 and now live in Loveland, CO. We haven’t seen them in person for a few years. One year they had already made plans to travel to the Pacific Northwest and the next year was COVID. You will be very thankful for something like Duo. That’s how our grandson in Colorado even knows he has another set of grandparents. But at least he knows what we look like.
I like a medium size wedding as both Andrea and Sean had but Sean’s was actually more to my liking Andrea chose a venue wedding but Sean and Dionne got married in the church with their reception in the parish hall as David and I did and most people used to.
Will we be receiving any more (nosey) details like how did Rebecca and her fiancé meet? Where in PA will they be living? You know, all that “don’t really need to know but must have” information. And don’t think her wedding will be that small. We sofa sisters will be there if only in spirit sending them off on their life journey together. But we do insist on pictures. Lots of them. We are all over the moon excited for your family.
And your bedroom is going to be absolutely lovely!
Hello!
