Still trying to figure out why all the comments, even mine, need approval…
I went to our Thrift store today and they had 2 huge boxes filled with all kinds of scarves…I dug around in the box for a little while and even found a 100% cashmere scarf!
I was looking for something that might work for a rebozo for Josefina’s new set. I found a blue loosely woven infinity scarf that went from light blue to dark blue….I didn’t have time today, but I’m hoping tomorrow to see if I can turn this into something Josefina might be able to use.
I’m not sure it will work, but I’m going to give it my best shot…hopefully a few snips and I’ll have it just her size.
Rebecca is home and hopefully she can get the necklaces finished…
Then I’ll get this set wrapped up…
Some days are just not sewing days…and today was one of them.
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
What a great find! I think the dark blue portion (I presume you’re just using part of the scarf?) will make a terrific rebozo for Josefina.
No sewing for me today, but last night I did get some further on Maya’s dress. Maybe eventually it will be done! She’s getting a little impatient!!
HI Charlotte,
I’m a bit late today, but wanted to answer you… yes, I just used part of the scarf… I’ll show you how I did it on Friday probably… I really did work well… I am very happy…
Bit by bit…that’s my new way of trying to accomplish anything lately… too many things pulling for my attention…
Blessings, Jeanne
Just the perfect touch, Jeanne! See, didn’t I tell you yesterday that you always find the perfect things and know just what to do for your creations?
I am happy to report that I have just about finished a skirt and apron for Kirsten! Yes, me sewing! I wanted to get in the sewing ladies group just to feel that I am doing my part and feel a part of the “Sewing Ladies Society!”! Pictures when I finish!
Can’t wait to see Kirsten’s new skirt and apron. 🙂
Hi Linda,
Well, you did tell me that yesterday, but sometimes it’s quite the hunt to find what I want… I just happened to find the right color of blue scarf in those big boxes… I should probably go back and see if there are any more like this loosely woven one… it did work well, as you’ll see Thursday… and I’ll probably show how I did it on Friday…
I’m glad you are almost finished with Kirsten’s new skirt… probably not as glad as Kirsten is though. And an apron too… can’t forget that… Three cheers for Linda… and three more when we get to see it! I’m proud of you! :o)
Blessings, Jeanne
Exceptional outfit, I might just add a small purse to her belt with a little embroidery on it. The color combination is perfection.
Hasn’t been many sunny days here in New York…your blog always brightens my day.💗
HI Nanette,
I always like seeing little purses on the belts, but I think I’ll have to pass on this time… I have so much going on with the braided belt, and the concho and the rebozo hanging down at the waist and the necklaces… I think I’ll have to do an outfit with a purse but without the rest of the pieces… too busy…
I’m glad coming here each day makes your day just a little bit brighter! :o)
Thanks so much,
Blessings, Jeanne
Your absolutely right Jeanne.
It would be over the top. Love this outfit just the way it is.💗
Yikes, I’m not liking seeing everyone’s posts right away. Wonder if a call to WordPress is in order?
I really like the dark blue portion and fringe on the scarf/rebozo for Josefina. Very clever idea. It really helps to tone down everything and will be so appreciated on those cool evenings.
I keep ordering from Monique, which is still open and seems to have the doll shoe sizes I need. Of course, now I need more yellow. Always something. 🙂
I worked a little bit on that car shirt for Luca and on a yellow dress also for the RRFF kids. Can’t seem to stick to just one thing at a time lately. I should be digging in the yard, but I’m uninspired at the moment.
Looking forward to seeing how you can redo that scarf without it shredding apart. Might be a great tutorial. 🙂
HI Joy,
I gave in and emailed Sara today to see if she could help me… hopefully she can… I’m not liking it either not being able to just read the comments… maybe soon…
I got the Rebozo finished and you’ll see it Thursday and then on Friday, I’ll show how I did it…
I thought Monique would have been depleted by now…but I guess not. They probably had thousands and thousands of wigs and shoes in inventory…
With all the ways you have to try and stay cool and keep things watered, it’s no wonder you are distracted and can’t keep to one thing very long…
Take care,
Blessings, Jeanne
Good morning!
This scarf was a real find, Jeanne and as Joy says, if you can do it so it doesn’t all fray out, it is going to be perfect. The shade of blue is spot on. Also finding a pure cashmere was a coup!
Looking forward to seeing Rebecca’s necklaces. Have a good day and good luck with the comment conundrum! Thank you so much for this blog; I am grateful every day and love your creativity.
HI Sally,
Well, I did manage to get that scarf cut up and made into Josefina’s Rebozo… I couldn’t believe the blue went as well as it did… there were only a few blue scarves in those big boxes…
I gave in today and emailed my webmaster (Sara) and asked for her help… hopefully she can figure things out… and we can get back to normal…
Thanks Sally,
Blessings, Jeanne
Finding a 100% cashmere scarf is really nice. I’m surprised someone gave that away.
Yes, that’s exactly what I had in mind, a loosely woven fabric. The dark blue portion should look wonderful. Looking forward to the necklaces.
HI Laura,
I was surprised to find a 100% cashmere scarf in there too.. .it still had the tag on it so I was sure it was cashmere… I immediately said, “well, there’s one to keep!”
I hope you like the way the rebozo turned out… I’ll show on Friday how I did it…
You’ll see everything tomorrow…
Blessings, Jeanne
You found the perfect blue to go with that skirt and there are soooooo many blues! Will be fun to see what you make….I’m not familiar with the term you are using so anxious to see it.you have the best luck at the Goodwill! The one closest to us is a warehouse…..everything is dumped in big carts (about 4 ft by 10 ft) and rolled out in rows and every so often they get on the loud speaker and tell customers to step away and they roll out new arts. It is quite the place.
HI Kathie,
I don’t know HOW that blue could have been one of the only blue scarves in that box and it matched like it did. I had taken a scrap of my blue skirt fabric with me, just to see if I could find something that might match it… and lo and behold it did! :o)
So your Goodwill is quite the place for “digging” around in… huh? Sounds fun to me… I love a good hunt and it sounds like just what you have there!
A rebozo is a scarf or shawl type piece for the Hispanic dolls… It can be long and narrow or triangular… and can be used as a wrap in cold weather… Mine ended up being rectangular…
Thanks Kathie,
Blessings, Jeanne
