Marilyn had a great idea of showcasing some of my past dress sets for Josefina… since I just showed you my “third” Josefina yesterday. I always loved making sets for her…it was the photographing her that had me stumped. I never could get my pictures to turn out right and as pretty as she was, she never looked like it in my pictures. It frustrated me and I finally sold her… not just once, but twice, and now I’ve bought another one and plan to try again…
I have great news… well, great news for us! The ROOFERS are coming… the ROOFERS are coming.. MONDAY! We can hardly wait…but we have lots to do… gutters to take down, and 2 more areas on the eaves that we need to fix and plenty more. My hubby has the whole weekend lined out for us… Oh dear…
I’m sorry not to have made it to your comments… I worked at the Food Pantry today and got home and had to start working on a few things…
But I skimmed through the comments and when I saw what Marilyn said about showing some past things for her, I jumped on it… Pretty soon my life will be back to normal… at least I hope it will…
Before I share my pictures, I have to show you these 2 from Linda… she said, “Jeanne, here are a couple of pictures of my Josefina. Isn’t she a pretty one? One is her wearing her Harvest Outfit from AG, and the other is her First Communion dress I bought on Ebay, and she is wearing a veil that used to be mine, when we had to wear them in church, back in the “olden days!”
If you click on any picture, it will enlarge.
After you see all the outfits I made for Josefina, you’ll know that I REALLY did/do love sewing for her…
Sometimes it’s just fun to look at pictures and not have to read any words… here are some more pictures of pretty Josefina…
This one really was one of my very favorites!
Occasionally, I got her pictures just right… another set from the green and black fabric… I must have REALLY liked this one because I’m showing you 4 pictures…
No…it’s not your imagination…this hat is WAY too big for Josefina… I must have desperately wanted to use it…
…and one last set… I couldn’t find my “Ebay” pictures of this set… so never mind that she’s barefoot…
Well, that’s certainly enough to hold you over for the weekend… Hope you enjoyed seeing them all…
See you Monday,
Blessings, Jeanne
Jeanne, I had no idea that you made so many outfits for Josefina! Every single one shows off bright and vibrant colors, that she looks so good in. Her mellow coloring and dark hair allow you to use colors that other dolls would completely disappear in, which makes it so much fun to sew for her! In addition, many of her clothes consist of skirts and blouses, also called camisas, and that in itself makes her easier to sew for if a person isn’t familiar with complicated dresses. However, you did knock it out if the box with that beautiful green and black outfit!
Thank you for shoing my sweet Josefina! I don’t send picutres of her very often, so this should appease her! π
Forgot to mention, poor you and George outside in this horrible heat and humidity, but yay for the roofers coming soon!
HI Linda,
Your Josefina IS really pretty and I love her in that white dress… she looks divine! I hope she got a little bit if a big head with everyone looking at her and ooooing and ahhhhing over her! :o)
Yes, I’ve made lots of outfits for Josefina and I’m ready to start a whole new set of things for her. She’s kind of like the Hispanic version of Kirsten.. you can use quite a few colors with her and get by with it…
It IS boiling hot outside… I worked on the gazebo… while my hubby was doing other things… we are going to put some cold water and some “goodies” under there with some place for them to rest or eat their lunch out of the sun… it was 92 degrees a little while ago with a heat index of 102! Too hot to stay out very long…
I was also pulling the weeds out of the brick sidewalk… and sweeping it…
We are waiting until the sun gets on the other side of the house to do the work on the eaves…
Thanks Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
Hooray for the roofers!! At long, long last….
Thanks, Linda, for sharing the pictures of your Josefina. That First Communion outfit is beautiful–she looks like a bride!
I think aqua IS Josefina’s best color, don’t you? She looks pretty in other colors, too, but aqua really makes her shine. I especially love the first outfit you shared, Jeanne–I think it’s my favorite. I also like that the skirt has other colors, so you could switch off with alternate blouses, if you wished.
I have a graduation party to attend tomorrow (one of the boys at church), but will make sure to head to the p.o. early enough, just in case my new Maya has arrived! Am also still waiting on the slips I ordered from you, but mail has been so slow lately, I’m just trying to be patient!
HI Charlotte.
I think aqua is Josefina’s color too… I sure picked quite a few camisa’s in that color, didn’t I?
When we were taking a break from the heat inside a little while ago, I picked up my phone and was looking at Hispanic dresses just to get some new ideas…
Oh, I hope Maya came early and you can enjoy her the rest of the weekend…
Blessings, Jeanne
Maya got here today, and was waiting for me when I got home from the graduation party and practicing piano at church. I have been too busy/tired to open the box yet, though; I will save that for tomorrow, when I’m feeling more rested (I hope!).
Hurray! So looking forward to the arrival of the roofers. Hope your “few” projects for the weekend to get ready go smoothly. If it’s hot, it might be nice to have a cooler of water/drinks for your crew. They always work so hard and deserve a treat. We’ve always done that for any workers around here.
Thanks Linda for sending your Josefina photos. I absolutely love all of her special “extra” pieces that I do not possess. Seeing yours reminds me to look again. The displays are so artistic too.
I’m not a fan of Josefina in red for some reason. However, when she wears teal blue, wow! That aqua/black outfit is quite amazing, but my favorite is the simple teal blue blouse and teal/beige skirt. So pretty on Josefina. I also like her wearing white tops. Maybe it would be possible to include two tops with the outfit. One white and another that matches the skirt should you go that route. It would be nice to have a little mix and match for her too. That coming from the Josefina here who has been standing in her white nightgown and holding a cross for a very long time. She’s hopeful. π
Definitely have to go to Joann’s today if I want to ever finish week 2 of the sew along. Almost ready for more eyelet trim and nothing here is the right width. And of course, we need more buttons. Hoping there is more of a selection than last time.
Have a fun weekend everyone.
You need to look up Carol Meadows on Facebook. She makes the most unusual clothes for Josephina Dolls. They look like Mexican blankets with conchos. I love all the colors in her creations for Josephina.
HI Joy,
I was planning having a little “refreshment” station in the gazebo for the guys… they might be sending 2 crews to try and knock it out in one day… can’t imagine that, but I do plan to have a few things for the guys to help with the heat… George wants me to make Rice Krispy bars for them too… :o) I have already picked up some stuff to munch on. Whoever works on this roof will definitely work for their money… they deserve a BONUS if you ask me!
When I took a break from outside a little while ago, I was looking at camisa’s and hispanic dresses for some new ideas… I think I found some… I have some soft fabrics I can use for tops and even some skirt prints…
I’m glad she’s back in my collection again…
Oh great! My hubby just said he thinks something is wrong with our AC…it’s not running right… he turned it off and plans to restart it in a little bit to see… yikes… no AC in this weather would not be COOL! :o(
Thanks Joy,
Blessings, Jeanne
Let’s hope the AC is just tired and will spring back into action with the restart. Our neighbor had AC installed in the last two days. Just in time as we’re looking at triple digits next week. Here, no AC. Ugh.
Very nice of you to have treats as well as drinks. I really don’t think many do that for workers. Thought you would. π
Joy, our AC did start working after my hubby turned it off for about an hour…thank goodness because it was heating up fast in the house…
~Jeanne
Thanks for sharing your wonderful pictures of Josefina, Linda. The First Communion dress is amazing and your own lace veil, too. You have a wonderful collection of accessories as well.
You must be seeing something I certainly am not to have sold those Josefinas. They all look beautiful to me and their dresses are so complete and colorful. Great combinations of fabrics, your trademark. Thanks for looking them up for us.
HI Susette,
I think Linda’s Josefina doll is so pretty too…and those outfits sure do help!
It really wasn’t my Josefina’s who were at fault… they were as beautiful as could be… but because she is darker skinned, somehow my camera never could capture her true beauty… now that I’m using my phone for most of my pictures, maybe I can make her look as pretty as she really is… I’m very much looking forward to making her some pretty new outfits!
Thanks Susette,
Blessings, Jeanne
All the Josefina’s look bonita hermosa!
Thank you Julia…
I’ll be sure and tell her you think she looks pretty beautiful! She really is! I’m glad to have her back….
Blessings, Jeanne
Sheβs so pretty in all the pictures! I just love Josefina <3. The dresses are so nice on her. (We actually still wear veils at our Catholic Church. All the Masses are in Latin)
I love Latin Mass as well, but do not understand it much. I was not brought up with it, so it is harder for me. I miss the reverence of the Latin Mass. My son, who never liked the Catholic Church loved the Latin mass for this reason. There is so much respect in that church and love for the Lord. I love that so much.
Hi Elaine, I might be able to help you find the Latin Mass if I knew what state you lived in…
Thank you Karen,
I’m wondering how I ever let her go before… I think she’s so pretty too, and love seeing her in the bright colors… most of the time…
Blessings, Jeanne
I absolutely love Josephina’s First Communion dress. It is so pretty and exquisite with all the lace and her little rosary beads, she really stands out in it. I love all the brightly colored outfits that you have sewn for Josephina as well Jeanne. My husband’s niece Jenny who is 23 and just graduated from college, had to get rid of her Josephina Doll. Her mother persuaded her to get rid of it. I was heart broken because I sewed for her doll when she was younger and her grandmother did as well. I was sewing for my niece and my husband’s niece and my brother in law’s niece’s dolls all at once and loving every minute of it. I miss Josephina. Wish I could of come with gorgeous outfits like those that you have done for this doll. She really is a beautiful doll.
HI Elaine,
I’m sorry you don’t have a Josefina to sew for anymore… maybe you can find one on Ebay that needs a little bit of work and make her some pretty outfits to sell on Ebay…
Anyone can come up with pretty things for Josefina… just make her a peasant top, a gathered skirt and a sash to tie around her waist… put a ribbon in her hair and you are set! :o)
Just copy some of my ideas if you can’t think of something yourself…
Blessings, Jeanne
I do think the slideshow was an excellent idea (I’m patting myself on my back) and your Josefinas look lovely. The picture of the Josefina with the lizard necklace, the one taken outside, is especially pretty. Making Josefina outfits when you can take outdoor pictures may be the answer.
You missed at least one — blue and turquoise with a blue vest.
Linda’s Josefina in white would be a lovely inspiration if you can find the lace. On Ebay, a search for chapel veil will give you a start.
A cooler of cold drinks would make you the roofers hero. The lawn person here yesterday was happy to get a cold drink to take with him yesterday. If summer is going to be this hot and dry, we may need to be ready with cold drinks for outdoor workers.
Hi Marilyn
You mean I missed a Josefina dress in blue and turquoise with a blue vest? Yours? I might have to search for that one…can’t think of it…but…I do have a list of the things you bought from me and the dates, so I might be able to track it down…hmmm…
I do love that dress on Linda’s doll and just might have to make a lacy one myself…
Having some cold drinks and a treat or two doesn’t seem like enough for guys who will be up on my black asphalt roof working in the 90 degree heat… I can’t imagine how they’ll stand it…I’m a wimp…
Thanks Marilyn
Blessings, Jeanne
Dear Jeanne, thanks for sharing the photos of Josefina. She is pretty in all of the outfits.
Happy World Doll Day to you and the Sofa Sisters! My luncheon went very well. We had tons of fun, and of course, there were tons of dolls in the raffle. I didn’t win any but I had fun just the same.
Soon I will be off to the Madame Alexander Doll Club convention. This Summer is definitely making up for 2020 in terms of dolly delights!
Hi Dorothy,
I thought about you several times today and wondered how things were going…glad to hear everyone had a great time! Especially the ones who won a doll!!
I’m sorry I forgot to mention World Doll Day in my blog post. I was too preoccupied finding pictures of Josefina…
I’m glad the days of Dolly Delights are back in season!!! Let’s keep them going!!
Blessings, Jeanne
