Before I show you what I was up to, want to see one of the “goodie boxes” Sally got when she arrived back in Colorado? This is what she told me…
“I bought my Charlotte “used” and she did not come in her cream wedding outfit. I happen to follow Barb Zuchowski on eBay (basiasweaters) and she offered this outfit, in the same colors, but ever so much more special.”
If you click on any picture it will enlarge.
Charlotte is another of the Ruby Red Fashion Friends dolls… She is very adorable and now Sally’s is gorgeous!
Yep, I was busy today… in my sewing room… and I certainly spent lots of time sewing, and figuring and brainstorming, and ripping out, and starting over and rethinking… and LOTS more… If I ever sell these as a pattern, I just might have to charge $50 for the pattern! Just kidding… but I have spent lots of hours on it… and the funny thing is… it’s actually pretty simple to put together…it just takes a while to get a working pattern. Every time I tweaked something I had to transfer that to my latest pattern piece.
You should see how full my trash can is NOW! I’ve added LOTS of scraps to it today…
So let me tell you where we are with the overalls for the Ruby Red Fashion Friends…
I made up a pair using the pattern I had drafted yesterday, but it was too small for Rozen… It has a wrap piece under the bib…
When I pulled up the bib, see how short it was on her… way too small…
So I tried it on Janie, a 13″ Little Darling, by Dianna Effner, and it was a better fit, but not perfect…
So… I took those pattern pieces and tweaked them as I looked at them on Rozen… making adjustments on my paper pattern…
First I made the skirt section a bit longer in the crotch and also in the yoke and waistband…
This time when I tried it on Rozen, it was a much better fit…
I decided to make that front piece just slightly different and carry that seam all the way down to the hem instead of having a weird shaped piece that would be too hard to explain to people if I EVER do make patterns… I have a seam now from the side of the bib all the way to the hem…
Here are the shortalls I’m trying to copy… you can see where I added that seam just down from the snaps instead of making the piece turn at a 90 degree angle and start the gathers…
It was easy to put together with the piece all open… the crotch seam went from belly button to lower back.
Rozen tried it on again to make sure things were lining up…
I did a little topstitching…
…and had to figure out how to sew the front section down… it’s the only part I need to work on… I knew how I wanted it, but it required some hand basting and I think it would be too hard to explain to someone else… there has to be an easier way to make that seam in there… It’s just a matter of figuring out what step it needs to follow…
One thing I discovered from just looking at the picture of the original shortalls. I need to make the seam from the bib come down at a slight angle… it doesn’t come straight down… it goes out to the left and the right… that would make my buttons look a little less “pinched”… I may have to work on that a bit more…
Here is the back… hemmed and looking pretty good… I have it a little twisted on her…
The front bib will still cover the wrap part underneath, but it’s looking pretty cute… better than yesterdays look…
So this is what I’m leaving you with today… an almost finished pair of shortalls…
Here is a close up… I only had some little brown buttons, but nothing metal in this tiny size…
…and these are my revised pattern pieces, SO FAR… :o) They may be revised again before I’m finished…
I have to make the straps and get them all situated and do the finishing work on them…I hope I have another day to work on them… it was nice being in my sewing room for most of the day… :o)
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Sally, your Charlotte is lovely, and her new outfit is just exquisite! Thanks for sharing a picture.
Jeanne, you are almost there, so I know you will figure out what else needs to be done to make your cute romper pattern “perfect”. I enjoy watching your process. I love to sew, but rarely try to design a pattern for something, unless it’s something very basic. However, I can take a basic pattern and change it into anything I want, thanks to a wonderful book by Ann Person (the founder of Stretch & Sew back in the late 60s/early 70s), called Express Yourself Creatively. For those of you who are garment sewers out there, you might keep your eye out for that one–it’s a real treasure!! I learned so much from mine!
Thanks, everyone, for your concern about our plight out here, with our unprecedented three days of 100+ temps. Our heat has finally abated–yay! Last night we started getting a little breeze coming thru, and for the first time in several days I was able to sleep pretty much the night thru, almost 8 hours! Tonight it has cooled down further, enough so I can close most of the windows before I go to bed! I will probably keep a couple open somewhat, and may need to open them again tomorrow (80s), but at least we will be able to sleep.
I grew up in the midwest, and even spent a couple of weeks in Africa long agao, so have experienced heat before, but nothing quite like this. One time in Jackson, Mich., it was more humid than hot; the sheets felt damp when you got into bed! In Africa it was a very dry heat, and the missionaries I stayed with had some AC, so it wasn’t bad. But this….Saturday and Sunday nights even the sheets were just plain HOT!!
I’m thankful for reusable water bottles–most nights I was washing and refilling 5-8 water bottles!! We ate out three nights in a row, just to get into A/C!! Tonight we had supper at home. Ah….and now I can think about sewing again.
Charlotte, we saw some pictures of TV last night not your area particularly but the heat wave seems to be going north, to Canada in particular! I hope it doesn’t come here in the summer! They said that extreme heat kills more people than any other weather type. So pleased it is cooling down for you, stay safe.
HI Charlotte,
I think I have the shortalls figured out… and I love them… you’ll see tomorrow!
I am glad for you, that things are cooling off a bit.. the worst is always at night when you are trying to sleep… it’s awful when it’s so hot you stick to the bed… :o)
Yes, things are looking up… Charlotte’s mind is on sewing again… just like mine! :o)
Thanks Charlotte,
Blessings, Jeanne
Jeanne, you are doing so well getting this romper figured out! As I was studying the pictures, it dawned on me that you are going from one machine to another while doing this ! You have some seams served, and are still sewing on your regular machine! I don’t have a serger so don’t really know the order you should do things, but if that is just a trial run, I can’t imagine bothering to serge the seams……..unless it is the real thing! But gee, going from one machine to the other seems kind of complicated. At any rate, that is going to be one adorable romper!
Charlotte, I’m so happy for you that things have cooled off and you can once again get back to your regular life, instead of just trying to beat the heat! Let’s hope it stays that way!
Hi Linda,
My serger is just over to the left of my sewing machine, so I can slide my chair a few inches and I’m there… since this is a proto type (sort of) I was a little lax on the insides… but it’s still pretty neat…
I am ready to show you what I did today, tomorrow… it’s taken a turn for the better, I think! :o) I hope everyone likes it… now for the rest of the set…
Thanks Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
Sally, the new outfit is gorgeous!
Once again I’m on my way north to my dads place.
Julia, I can’t remember. Is your dad ill? Do you have to go far? I hope it’s a regular visit and not an emergency.
Glad you like Charlotte in her new duds.
Have fun, Julia,
I wonder what “delicious confection” you’ll make this time when you are there… cookies, cakes, pies? Inquiring minds want to know! :o)
Blessings, Jeanne
Sally, I failed to mention how absolutely gorgeous Charlotte’s new dress and adorable hat are! Who needs a bride dress when you can have something like this? I never could figure out bride dresses on dolls that are children, but nevertheless, that’s how my Betsy McCall came when I bought her. Never had that dress on again( she is only a 6 year old)! Her veil is fine for her First Communion outfit, but that’s it.
My original comments are awaiting moderation, because I got my email address wrong and saw it just as I pressed “Post Comment”. Hopefully it will show up soon. Yes, Jeanne, it really was me! My fingers get mixed up!🤪
I just call the bridal dresses for what I deem little girl dolls Communion dresses. I always wondered why people even created bridal dresses for dolls who were supposed to be children. And often they are complicated enough that I don’t want to make them for Halloween costumes.
You mentioned about serging in between steps. Jeanne has her machines in a wonderful “L” shape set-up. My room doesn’t allow for this so my serger actually sits on the table with my Singer embroidery machine – which I haven’t used since I got my Husqvarna Viking Ruby machine. I keep hoping one of my grandkids will want to join me in sewing so I keep the Singer available. My machines are back-to-back so I have to get up and walk around to the other side to do my serging. But annoying as it can be at times, especially when the steps are short and you need to serge often, the finished product is far more satisfying than if I don’t do it. When I sew little girl dressy dresses I use a French seam but that’s hard to do on a doll-size dress, especially for the smaller dolls, So I just consider all the exercise I’m getting when I have to serge and bite the bullet.
HI Linda,
Sorry about not getting your comments approved sooner… I was “busy” sewing! :o)
Blessings, Jeanne
Genius at work! Love how Jeanne has conquered the shortalls. I kept looking at the admired pair trying to figure out all of the steps to make a similar one. Very complicated. I wonder if on the “real” pair if those are snaps or buttons? Also, the seams down the front to the hem aren’t on the original, but it looks like your design is much better. So fun to see this great pattern emerge. Hope you decide to sell it one day. 🙂
Glad Charlotte is getting some fresh sea air and coolness.
Love Sally’s Charlotte and her fabulous new dress. Perfect. Excited to see July Joy this afternoon as she is out for delivery! Finally. 🙂
HI Joy,
From what I can tell from the picture, the shortalls have snaps… too bad I can’t find snaps that small. I’d have to use rivets I guess with snaps sewn underneath… nope, I didn’t… you’ll see…
I do like the seam down the front better… it will be a lot easier for anyone to make them, IF I ever sell this as a pattern. It’s actually not complicated…it only looks like it is.
Oh, I sure hope your July Joy gets to your house today… From the pictures I’ve seen online, she looks prettier in them, than on the actual website where she was advertised…
Thanks Joy,
Blessings, Jeanne
My favorite new dolls are my Ruby Red Fashion Friends. What a wonderful doll and price for a nicely clothed doll. I especially like the 14” size…it’s the “Goldilocks and the Three Bears” size, just right! Your overalls are the cutest and so original. Hope you consider selling the pattern💕
HI Nanette,
I am a bit like you… I am loving the size of the RRFF dolls and some days ONLY want to sew for them… They ARE “just right!” I have to agree! I hope you’ll like the overalls tomorrow… they took a bit of a change in “color.”
Thanks Nanette,
Blessings, Jeanne
Your hard work is paying off! I think It looks like a much better fit….I almost hate to suggest it…but would the seam in the front coming down from the bib on each side look better at an a line angle instead if straight down? Seems like the pic of the original is that way ? Yes, if you sell that pattern it would need to be pricey!
Glad you are able to sleep again Charlotte! What a heat wave!
Sally that dress and hat are fantastic!
Today my Sister and my daughters are making jewelry trees. A frame shaped like a Christmas tree with the mini lights inserted from the back and My Mom and Aunt had one…maybe made in the 60’s or 70’s? We always liked it and what a fun way to display old pieces that have meaning but you would not wear. Will send Jeanne some pictures☺️
Kathie, what a great idea to make tree jewelry trees! Can’t wait to hear how they come out, and bet you gals are having a blast. What a fun thing to make, and useful, as well. Three cheers!
My mother in law made one of the trees. It is here someplace. She did regret using some of the vintage costume jewelry on it as she had to cut off earrings etc. to make it. Some of the pieces are now quite collectible, but not in their wired/glued on state. 🙁
HI Kathie,
The first thing I did this morning when I got in my sewing room was change the angle of that front piece… It should help… I did go ahead and finish the shortalls with the piece I had on there, but I will make the next pair with the new revised piece… good eye! :o)
We made one of those jewelry Christmas tree pictures too… I don’t know what ever happened to it… probably took it to the thrift shop or sold it at a yard sale… I hope yours turns out to be a family heirloom piece! :o)
Thanks Kathie,
Blessings, Jeanne
Dear Jeanne, the outfit is coming along so well. Thanks for sharing your progress.
I hope you get to have some sister time soon.
HI Dorothy,
I think I have my pattern figured out, but probably need to make it a few more times just to make sure it all goes together the best possible way…
I think my sisters might get to come back in August… I’ll take it!
Thanks Dorothy,
Blessings, Jeanne
Jeanne, it’s amazing what you are doing… I admire anyone who can sew. My talents lay elsewhere. Can’t remember where I put it! 😉
Charlotte, glad you are getting relief! Hope the cooler weather stays longer. I can’t bear the humidity at all. I refused to go outside during this humidity unless absolutely necessary.
Sally, your Charlotte is a beautiful doll. Her outfit is really gorgeous. That was a great buy.
HI Paula,
I’m glad the Lord gave me creative talents like sewing and “sometimes” pattern making… these are turning out pretty cute! I think I’ll have to make another pair just to make sure I remember how I did them… :o)
We should have a post some day where we don’t call it bragging but we tell what we do best… or what we like to do, or both! It might be fun…
Thanks Paula,
Blessings, Jeanne
Sally’s Charlotte is so lovely and her outfit is beautiful. I don’t know what the other outfit looks like so will have to do some research but I know this one is the best. I just read Sally’s comment from yesterday and realized that Lederhosen is what comes to mind for me also. I definitely admire your intestinal fortitude in drafting this somewhat difficult pattern. Drafting patterns is something that I used to want to be able to do but these days I seem to be lucky to get in my sewing room and use a pattern someone else created.
My summer has been different this year and I finally realized why that is. My daughter-in-law is home with the new baby and probably won’t go back to work until he’s a few years old as she did with the other two so I’m not “on call” with the grandkids. This should give me hours more sewing time but instead I’ve decided to do some much needed cleaning and reorganizing that got put on hold last year when I was on call constantly because of the grandkids not being in school and their mother working many hours as a grocery shopper. My organizing is going faster than anticipated so I hope to get to my sewing machine full time soon. I have a few dolly things to make (promises made) but then I intend to make some children’s clothes for our church Fall Festival so I can clear out some of the fabric I have bought over the years for that purpose.
I know we are not supposed to covet our neighbors, especially our sofa sisters, but the fact that many who are experiencing heat waves can look forward to cooling off in a few days makes me so envious. I will be praying for forgiveness. When it is overcast outside my A/C does not come on often at the temp we set it and lowering the temp during those days just raises the bill so it is a little warm in here sometimes because rain does not always cool off the outside temp. There is much I like about living in Texas but the weather in SE Texas is not even close to one of them. That is why when our kids were growing up we headed for Colorado every summer for two to three weeks of temperature bliss before the kids returned to school. The past few years we’ve ended up going in September or October. But it is something to look forward to even then, since it’s still very hot here.
I agree with Nanette about the size of the RRFF dolls. I love sewing for them. I started sewing for my 18″ MA doll several years ago and do like sewing for that size but I found when I got my 13″ Little Darlings I really liked sewing for that size, which includes my Betsy McCall and Jane Tonner dolls. The RRFF are between the LD size and the 18″ size and Nanette said it all. That size is “just right” – and they wear their clothes so nicely.
So, Barbara, I understand that the RRFF Siblies are similar in size to the LDs. Do you have one? I’m thinking about acquiring one and wondered about the fit.
JOY, yesterday I experimented with this. I took out some random LD outfits and tried them on. They are a little large in the shoulders and torso for Siblies, but passable.
That is good to know. Thank you! What about the LD shoes? Do they fit the Siblies?
Some shoes, yes, but not with added tights.
How’s your new girl? What does Luca think?
I haven’t tried any LD clothes on my Sydney but I have bought some patterns especially made for her because she really doesn’t “perfectly” fit any of the other doll patterns I have. And some of the 14″ patterns are being done for the 12″ Siblies so the sisters can have matching clothes.
HI Barbara,
I saw the outfit Charlotte came in and I much prefer the one on Sally’s Charlotte now… the other one was “just a dress” but this is an “ensemble!!!” I love it! and I have that same lace too… :o)
I agree, sometimes you just have to pick a pattern already made up and ready to go, but sometimes I like to challenge myself and do the hard thing… I’ve wanted to make them into a pattern for a LONG time… and now that I have it for the RRFF… I think I might be able to take those pieces and reduce and enlarge them and see if they work for other dolls.
Oh, doesn’t it feel good to get things organized… just wait till you get in your sewing room…that’s the best of all! :o)
I hope you get some cooler weather soon, Barbara… I can feel the pain in your words…
I have to agree with sewing for the RRFF… they are really a fun size to sew for and their bodies are always the same size… no guessing with squishy bodies, like the AG dolls. When you make something for the RRFF you can be assured it will fit on another doll just like it does on the one you made to sell…that’s a bonus for me…
Thanks Barbara,
Blessings, Jeanne
Barbara, at least you HAVE air conditioning! The other day it was 102 INSIDE!! (and 108 outside). Not fun.
It is much better now, almost back to our normal mid-70s again!!
Sally, your Charlotte is just lovely in her new dress. Did you buy George as well? I thought those flower girl and ring bearer wedding outfit were sweet, but your flower girl dress is even better. The RRFF I really liked was Valentine, but, of course she was a Russian exclusive and sold out before I ever knew anything about those dolls.
Those shortalls are the cutest. The gathers make them look really sweet. Looking forward to what you’ll pair them with.
Slowly finding my way back. Thanks for saving me a seat, ladies.
LAURA, thank you. I was SO excited to see Charlotte come up even without her outfit and certificate. She arrived shortly before Barb listed this outfit and I was determined to be the highest bidder. So I feel really lucky. I have my eye out for George. Luca is in my “fold” but I like George so much more. Patience (and determination!)
Keep your eye out on eBay. A new Valentina sold on June 6 for $520 with only 3 bids. These dolls DO show up eventually!
HI Laura,
I think the dress and lacy jacket on Sally’s Charlotte is much prettier than the dress she came in. There was a Valentina doll on Ebay recently and she sold for $520 from Russia… it was the first one I had seen of her on Ebay…
I’m working on the other pieces for the shortalls… I think it will be cute… I just hope everyone else thinks so too…
Thanks Laura, there’s always a seat saved for you…
Blessings, Jeanne
Jeanne, I really admire you for your tenacity! I would have given up long ago. I think I will stick to other people’s patterns, like Charlotte I can often see how to change a basic pattern but no good at creating one. Story of my craft life really, whether cards, sewing, knitting or anything else, I have no completely original creative ability. I’m not particularly good at writing instructions either for others to follow.
Our polar blast has been and gone. It did leave behind some traces of white but that was hail rather than snow. Now we have been promised more typical winter weather at least for the next few days, cold, frosty mornings and sunshine and blue skies. I hope they are right I’m fed up with rain, rain and more rain.
Sally, your Charlotte is lovely, I do like the RRFF dolls they are so pretty. That outfit is just gorgeous.
I spent my weekend making sails for my grandson’s Lego sailing ship. Lego is no longer exclusively for children (he is almost 19)!!! He made all the patterns for me, I cut them out, hemmed them then stitched lines on them all then dabbed them with a wet tea bag to make them mottled. I’m looking forward to seeing it finished. I must have a go at some real sewing today.
HI Anne,
I don’t create patterns from scratch very often, but I really wanted to conquer this one.. It had been on my list for quite a while… and I think I have it down now. but I do need to make it a few more times just to be sure…
I’m glad your “polar blast” has scooted out from your area… now you can maybe just enjoy the winter weather as usual. I just heard thunder out my window, and I think we are in for lots of rain tonight… I should have done my post earlier as it will knock out my internet…
Gotta go…it’s pouring…
Blessings, Jeanne
JEANNE, well, I was very surprised to see Charlotte at the top of your post today as I actually sent it to you to enjoy as I knew you would. Yes, back from the trip, it was great, all 12 family members and no DRAMA. Color me happy. Thank you for including my little gal who is now in her “forever dress”. Thank you all for your kind comments.
JEANNE, So, this shortall, as I mentioned and Barbara happened to read my late entry yesterday, is a darling take off of lederhosen and she agrees. That little flare at the bottom of the bib down into the bottom is key. And boy, I love the strap system and buttons on your template photos.
What a huge, job this is that you are doing, and , I must say, you are coming along famously. Didn’t people use to make mock up fashions or patterns using muslin? That is what I was taught, anyway. Muslin is sure cheaper, but then, I am willing to bet you have fabric galore, my friend! 👍I bet you have had fun again today, and so glad it is finally YOUR time for your passion.
CHARLOTE, thank Heaven you’re finally feeling a little more comfortable. When you mentioned closing your windows at night, and opening them a little in the day, I was curious. It gets pretty hot here in Salida, usually August is my “grouchy month”. And in NH, it can get in the 90’s and humid. Over the years, we have never had AC. Once the temperature inside the house and outdoors are the same in the evening, we open up the windows wide for the night, using a couple strong fans blowing high to the outdoors, thus sucking out the house heat, and smaller fans in other windows blowing cool air in. Then in the morning, we close the windows once the outside temp starts moving up. Then we pull shades to keep the intense CO sun out. This system has always worked like a charm. Fortunately, our weather this week is partly/mostly cloudy and cool. Like I said yesterday,
all of you are welcome to come to my sofa this week. Do bring ice cream, cake and chocolate…. You mentioned the Ann Person book, and there are two spiral bound copies on Amazon at $65. Once upon a time, when it first came out, I had her “Stretch and Sew” book one. My sewing books traveled with me for many moves, but on our next to last move, they did not come with me. I much prefer to let other women sew for my dolls, but if I had only “caught the sewing bug”, I could have saved tons of bucks. So I tip my hat to all you who sew for your dolls and families!
ANNE…Charlotte would love your snow, I bet. Oh, I just grinned reading about making Lego sails for your 19 year old grandson and that HE made the patterns for you. What FUN!
NANETTE, I think several of us agree with you about the RRFF. A few here have mentioned how they like sewing for them. I find they are the perfect size for dressing and undressing. These dolls just make me HAPPY. So glad you are enjoying them, too!
JOY, do you have your July Joy now in hand? What do you think? I named mine “Libby” and think she is so pretty. A Sara without the braid. After you and someone else mentioned the outfits causing some discoloration of the vinyl, I decided yesterday that all my dolls still in their original outfits were going to get them off. I did not see any problem on my dolls. I wonder, since we have no humidity here, if that is in my favor for not getting discoloration?
Anyway, congrats and have fun with her. I did find removing her cute cowgirl boots WAY challenging. Ugh.
BARBARA, getting organized is always admirable and a GREAT feeling once done. I am happy for you that you will be having more time to yourself this next year to sew. Yay!
Yesterday I mentioned opening up my Siblie Sydney and was put out to see the factory puts a tough nylon cord in her head to go outside the box to keep her secure! First, there is no reason on earth for that. Second, I could not even use tweezers to remove the white cord sticking out past her hair. I used scissors with trepidation. Anyone else have any suggestions for if/when I order another Siblie or two? Ugh!
Well, I guess I better “dry up” here. Got corn, jalapeño Jack cheese bread coming out of the oven. I was desperate for a cookie, so made a half batch of oatmeal raisin this morning. Hubby is hiking today, and he will be glad to see both the bread and cookies!
Have a great rest of your day, ladies! Hope you are all getting a little cooler.
Hi Sally! Finally had a moment to open up July Joy’s box. She is also just fine with no color discoloration from her clothes or boots. I didn’t have much trouble getting the boots off because they have velcro down the insides. She is sweet and will make a good friend for the others. 🙂 I also have Eira coming, although she is used and has had her hair combed out. I like her because she is a bit different. The hints on the next RRFF are coming out. Have no idea if it is a Siblie or Fashion Friend. 🙂
Woo-hoo! Such fun to get a new doll! Even with the Velcro fully opened up, they gave me a run for my money.
I got an Eira, too. Second hand. Came with her box and certificate, perfect hair, and only her hat, purse, and panties from her original outfit . I also like her different look, a bit more sophisticated.
I am pursuing another Ltd Ed doll this week and Rebecca is supposed to come July. Getting a little obsessed, undoubtedly, but having a ball.
Are you making Joy a new outfit? Send me a pic by email.
HI Joy,
Where are you watching for the news on the next RRFF doll coming out? I’ve been checking the RRFF doll couture and the other facebook site of theirs… is there some doll shop that will sell them… where were the last ones, (the Kayla and blue eyed Belle in the flowery dresses) shown first? Just wondering….
Thanks Joy, Congrats on getting your July Joy! I bet that was fun… hope you were able to sneak her in the house without anyone noticing… :o)
Blessings, Jeanne
I just look at the RRFF sites. RRFF Global seems to have news a lot.
RR Toys is the Hong Kong site from where everything is sent so I look there a lot. That’s where I got Kayla. All of the orders I’ve had lately come either from them or through them from someone else. I’m planning on using them again. I like their email updates. Shipping is pretty fast too. I haven’t ordered from Europe yet, but their dolls are so cute, I might. 🙂
And, since July Joy was arriving UPS, other person didn’t catch the mail. I didn’t have an official time of arrival, but when I heard the driver talking outside, I figured that was what it was. Other person was right there and said, what was that? I said, oh, just a delivery driver going by. Left the package outside until other person went into another room and went out and nabbed the box. Perfect sneak today and didn’t get caught. 🙂
Hahahahaha!! Love it, Joy! My things usually come to the post office, so they get “buried” in the trunk of my car or down in the laundry room until I can open them! Once a doll is out of her box and in my hands, she is no longer “new”, right?! 😂🤣😂
HI Sally,
Well, I HAD too… Charlotte was just too cute! I love that outfit… and had to look it up again in the completed listings just to see more pictures of it.. I can see why you wanted it so badly. It is just adorable…
I used to use paper towels for my pattern drafting… they were pretty easily draped on the doll and pretty cheap to use… Well, a few weeks ago, I went to a yard sale just down the road from us and the lady had all this sewing stuff and she had 2 full bolts of Stitch n Tear…it’s actually a stabilizer used for embroidery machines… She gave me a deal on a whole bunch of stuff and I got these bolts for about $2 each… It was a steal… I thought maybe I could use it to transfer all my paper pattern pieces that I’ve drafted. I used it for these shortalls and it worked wonderfully. Now I need to transfer a lot more pieces onto it.
I’ve had the munchies all day today… maybe I should have just caved for some cookies… they sound wonderful… Hope your hubby loved them…
Blessings, Jeanne
I enjoyed reading everyone’s news and tips of the day. Kudos to all who sew, you have my utmost admiration. Jeanne, I can’t wait to see what you have done with that romper. Sally, your Charlotte looks amazing- so much better than the original. She is one of my favorites but remains elusive. Good night all and wishing cooling breezes for you Charlotte.
HI Debbie,
I’m glad you enjoyed today’s post and hope you’ll enjoy tomorrow’s even more… I will be showing what I did with the shortalls… I’m working on the rest of the pieces tonight…
Thanks Debbie,
Blessings, Jeanne
