“It’s fun to see other people’s stashes!”

I’m doing today’s post because Julia said, “It’s fun to see other people’s stashes!” *wink* *wink*

I wish now that I had taken a picture of that messy, messy, messy lace cabinet because I’m pretty proud of the way it looks… It was so unruly it was pathetic… I guess I just kept shoving things in there and didn’t pay that much attention to how FULL it really was…
But now it’s nice and I still have bigger pieces of lace to sort out, but I did go through them and put “like” pieces together… I’ll do the sorting on it one of these days… I would like to get ALL of my laces in that top section, except the ones in the containers…

This is my mini hutch where my other laces are stored…

If you click on my pictures they will enlarge.

This is how the inside of that top part of my mini hutch looks now…

I had some different containers on the shelf with all my buttons and ribbons and those kinds of things. But I discovered I could put my laces up there on that shelf too, and they would be easily accessible… and they fit perfectly with 4 stacks of containers. It works very well space wise…

And because of Julia, here you go… lots to look at… if you are into laces…

This last container has some of my appliques in it…

Now if those laces don’t make you smile, take a look at these links… Marilyn shared them yesterday, but everyone may not have clicked on them. There are enough ideas to last a lifetime! (which is good… because I have a lifetime supply of lace!) :o)

Now wasn’t that a great way to start off your Friday?

See you tomorrow,

Your storage hutch looks so nice and neat inside now!

Thanks for telling us the name of the boxes (Plano), and that they are really designed for tackle boxes. I like that they have different size spaces, and different configurations–more versatile that way!! Now I know what to look for!

I have looked at one of the links; need to get to bed now but hope to have time to look at the others tomorrow! Will try to get those pictures sent then, too. For now, night-night! (It’s 3 a.m. where I am–time to go to bed! LOL)

    1. Hi Charlotte,
…and roomy too…room for LOTS more lace… oops…I guess not!
The boxes have little break apart dividers so you can make them whatever size you need…like my appliqués…I just left the dividers out…
      Hope you slept well
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Holy cow! Your lace stash is awesome! I use those divider boxes for beads but now l see l could use a few more for lace. Thank you, Jeanne. I love looking at stashes so much. 😍

    1. Thank you, Julia,
Thanks for liking my stash!!! Glad you enjoyed it… :o)
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Seeing the so organized lace gives my mind peace. All ready to create. 🙂
It would be wonderful to see one of the children’s outfits in Marilyn’s post recreated for the dolls. I saved the one of the sweet jacket which was down a bit. The design is simple, but lace could be added in many different ways.
Today Pixie Faire has a free cute although time consuming gardening apron, gloves, hat, and seed packets pattern. I like it because the top is sort of an overall pattern. It would also be cute made using some of Jeanne’s lace stash. 🙂 It could be a sweet spring/summer dress too.

    1. Hi Joy,
I will have to study all those pictures of lacy things and see which one grabs me… They were ALL so beautiful!
I did look at the PF pattern today and actually decided to download it… I thought the same thing.. it would make a sweet summery dress…

  4. Good job on organizing your lace cabinet. And the boxes fit perfectly on that shelf. My biggest problem is that my sewing studio lacks versatility, and I’m totally running out of room for things. Every time I try to rethink my arrangement I get a headache and things stay the same. The only cure for my dilemma is to make up some (a lot) of the fabric I have into something and sell it. I’m doing purses this year for our Fall Festival at church. I have so many cute patterns but have never made them up. I have an Etsy shop but when I read the instructions on how to handle the state and local taxes it overwhelmed me to the point that I haven’t put anything in my shop as yet. I’m great at buying things online just not so good at how to sell things online.

They have those plastic boxes in my Wal-Mart in the craft section but my first introduction to them was in my hubby’s workshop. I thought the boxes for screws, etc., were perfect for my jewelry. He picked me up a couple. Then when we went on vacation one year he bought some of the tackle boxes and I realized they were shallower and actually worked better so I started using them for my jewelry. Now they are in the jewelry-making section at Wal-Mart so I added a few more. I haven’t a clue how many boxes I would need to store all the lace I have. I’ve been collecting for years with a lot of years of not sewing in there so it accumulates. I used to go to Hobby Lobby and buy the bags of lace and ribbon remnants. They don’t seem to have that at my store anymore. I also would do that when I bought something from Home Sew. They have bags of assortments. Lately when I’ve bought from them I exercised some discipline and left the assortments alone.

The “sod” should be arriving some time today so I can get the lawn taken care of and the tea party under way. I also have a duo call with my daughter in Loveland, CO, this afternoon. it’s her 40th birthday. Where does the time go… It’s somewhat like being there so the calls take awhile. I get to “spend time” with my three-year old grandson, Anderson. He loves trains so he tells me all about them and shows me what he has. For awhile he had a lot of things like Thomas the Tank Engine and other cute trains, but one day he told his parents he would really like to have a train “without a face”, like the ones they ride on. I finally found some t-shirts I could put some machine embroidered trains on for him. It seems most t-shirts today already have something on them so finding some locally to put the embroidery on is difficult, especially in the smaller sizes.

I love looking at the stashes of others too.

    1. Happy birthday to your daughter, Barbara. Our youngest daughter will be 40 in November. Don’t think she’s too happy about it though. 🙂

      1. I just had a duo with my daughter and her family. She is fine with being 40. As a friend of mine used to say, having another birthday sure beats the alternative. But Andrea did laugh at the fact that her being 40 made me 74. I think it was a snicker.

    2. HI Barbara,
I tried to get things just right when I was rearranging my sewing room, and my hubby said, “It won’t matter… in a month or two you’ll be wanting to change it around again.” But so far, I’m liking the way things flow in here now and don’t think I’ll be changing it anytime soon.

I know how you feel about having lots to sell… I have a good eye for buying things that will sell, but it’s harder to find the time to sell them… I need to put all my “for sale” stuff in one area and then just do ONE thing a day or even a week and eventually it would dwindle down…

I have about a half dozen of the more shallow containers and like them for my tiny buttons…it’s easier to get them out of the ones that aren’t so deep…

Oh… to be 40 again… well maybe even 50 again… that would be nice! I hope you had a nice call to your daughter and grand son…
I’m glad you enjoyed looking at my stash!
      Thanks Barbara,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Yes, it is fun to see other people’s stashes, especially when they are neat and organized. I am sure it took some time to get everything all sorted as you have quite a lot of different kinds. I do love the old fashioned tatted lace. I buy it whenever I can find it and add it to my stash.

I love those Pinterest pictures of the antique children’s clothing. I have some pinned to one of my boards; I need to go through these new ones and see if there are some I want to add to my collection. I will try to add a link to my Pinterest board. Not sure if it will work or not. I have all eras pinned there.

    1. HI Carolyn,
It DID take me all day and I’m still not finished… but I’m a lot farther along than I was at the beginning of the week. I want to get all of my really old and vintage laces in one container as I seem to use those a lot! I love it when I find a lot of lace in one big grouping… I found a whole bunch of those heirloom laces at a big yard sale one time… and they were $1.00 a card and there were some really fat cards… I was thrilled to say the least!
I’m going to have to check out your antique clothing too… I don’t think there is anything sweeter than vintage children’s clothing… especially dresses…and the lacier the better!
      Thanks Carolyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Hi Marilyn,
I was showing Sylvia and Sebastian my dolls yesterday and Rozen RRFF was in her box and they both loved her… I think it’s time she got another dress… and maybe I’ll be inspired by some of these pictures…
Thanks for all the links and especially that first one yesterday… it was wonderful to look at!
      Blessings, Jeanne

    2. Charlotte Trayer

Wow, some fabulous dresses there, Marilyn! I saw a few with skirts that had inverted box pleats–it’s been a long time since I’ve seen that particular feature, and I really like it. Thanks for sharing. Lots of inspiration!

  6. Finally here. A vet appointment this morning and then a walk was in order. It’s a stunning beautiful day here, warm, blue skies, white clouds, slight breeze, PERFECT!!
Always a tad behind yours, Jeanne, my Bradford pear is in full bloom as of the day before yesterday. I hope it stays a while, but when it “snows” the white blossoms are so pretty.

What an amazing assortment of laces, and yes, I LOVE lace. Many to love, but I especially like the squared crocheted one in the first photo in the same row as the aqua and pink.
Also the little medallions with the rose in the third photo. I also with Karen, the puppy appliques are adorable. Animals on anything gets my vote.
Thank you for the name of the boxes. They look like a super way to organize any small thing even tiny cookie cutters and icing tips as well as sewing and craft supplies.
Thanks for the links, Marilyn. Those dresses are beautiful. A lacy summer dress for Samantha/Nellie would be lovely.

    1. HI Laura,
A few days ago, our Bradford Pears made it look like we were having a blizzard… the “snow” was blowing by the windows and it seemed odd as the sun was shining but it was “snowing!”
I’ve stored ornaments and tiny Christmas things in mine too… they really are nice containers for anyone who has a lot of “littles!”
Glad you had a nice day! We are being pelted with rain right now and I’m waiting for my satellite to go out…it’s flickering… gotta hurry…
      blessings, Jeanne

  7. If my laces were that organized I wouldn’t want to use any because I’d hate to mess up the look.🤔
Thank you for the links Marilyn…loved seeing those darling dresses…especially the smocked ones. Some of the pics were Dillards ads….wonder if they are current? If so there must be a buyer for them that has good taste.
Spring blooming trees are out in full and the next 10 days are supposed to be in the 50’s so the blossoms may stay awhile🤗

    1. HI Kathie,
Oh, I’m sure I’ll have them messed up soon enough, but I did enjoy showing the pictures of how nice they looked… for now at least!
My hubby and Kristoffer were going to start taking down the one chimney tomorrow, but we have a 50% chance of rain, so I think they are going to wait until tomorrow morning and see how things look then… I wanted sunshine, but maybe not…
      Thanks Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. A big thanks to Marilyn for the links. It is so easy to get lost in imagining my dolls dressed in lookalikes. I think the RRFF could wear some of the outfits for a re-enactment tea!! Lots of feather boas, maybe big hats, there I go dreaming again!
I wish ANY of my stashes were so pretty to look at.
    Smiles to all.

    1. HI Dorothy,
Yes, weren’t those dresses just incredible… I get lost looking at those kinds of pictures too… they just don’t make things that beautifully nowadays… that I see… maybe some specialty shops carry some, but they are even just fun to look at… and like you say… “dream” a little!
      Smiles back to you, Dorothy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Busy, busy, busy today, so I finally am here! A gorgeous day to be outside and my oh my, spring has sprung! Everything is now blooming and the trees have started to leaf out! My pink dogwood is opening up and the redbuds are in full bloom!

You have quite a stash of lace there, Jeanne! I see so many different kinds, shades and ages of lace! You have sorted it’s so well, and it will be a snap to find whatever lace looks best for what you are sewing.I can’t imagine how it worked before!

Marilyn certainly has given you some lovely ideas for upcoming dresses!

    1. Well, there’s Linda! I knew you might be outside on such a pretty morning, but are you getting all the rain now? Our redbuds around here are in full bloom… They are so pretty when you see one in the midst of the trees that are still not budding yet…

Yes, I do have lots of different eras of lace and would like to get them sorted into containers of the same times… vintage laces, cluny laces, nylon laces, beige laces, white ones, etc… I have plenty I can still work on…
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. You probably won’t see this now, but yes, it’s raining! The young couple who just obught the house next door is putting up a fence, spent all day just getting the poles in,and it looks pretty strange at the moment! Not sure if they can work today, but who knows?
Hope George and Kristoffer are careful there with getting up on the roof and taking the chimney apart!

Oh! That lace organization was so inspiring!!!
And the Victorian childrens’ clothing pin looked like inspiration for your dress creation for the next 10 years!
