My Ruby Red Fashion Friends doll, Sara, is making her debut in a “spectacular” dress…

The bidding for Chrissa and Julie’s 8 piece set is now at $80.00 as of 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening.

If you missed it, I am having an auction for Chrissa/Julie’s set right here on my blog… It ends this evening at midnight. (Central Time Zone).
If you want to see what is included… here you go… the pink furry coat, the newsboy cap, the pink tee, the denim jean skirt and the purse… (the doll, black tights and the black shoes are NOT included.)

… plus these 2 pair of jeans and the navy floral blouse…

If you want to place a bid higher than the already $55.55 bid, send me an email through the “Contact Me” tab at the top of my blog post with your high bid… the auction will end Thursday night at midnight. (Central Time Zone)

I will update the bidding (if need be) at the top of this post… just check back every so often to see if it has changed.

Now onto my new doll, Sara, a 14.5″ Ruby Red Fashion Friends doll… she is a darling if ever I saw one… We had a great photo shoot because HER DRESS SET IS ALL DONE! I was hoping to get it listed on Ebay Wednesday evening, but it didn’t happen… but I’m hoping to do it Thursday evening…

Sara is pretty photogenic and I’m learning where and how high my lights need to be to get the best pictures. Some of my pictures were a bit on the washed out side, but some were really nice…and some of you might even say she looked “spectacular.” I’m just saying that because it was said to me a few days ago… and I’m trying not to get a big head over it… I was actually more humbled than I was dealing with a big head… I love to sew and to have someone say they’ve grown accustomed to seeing “spectacular” from me…well, there really are no words for that kind of compliment. Thank you again…

So I did shorten the dress, as a few of you mentioned… and added a growth tuck about 1″ from the bottom… it is shorter than it looks…it’s just the angle of my camera…

I added a pretty blue rayon bow to the braid in her hair and it makes her look even more adorable than she was…

She needed a little bit of a slip to hold out her dress, so I made one out of a blue tulle and it’s perfect…. not too full and just enough to make her dress not look droopy…

Then I knew you would say she’d need a little bralette, so I made one of those for her from a white stretch lace… I did a little handwork on the gathered front and use ultra thin Velcro in the back to close it…

Rebecca helped me find something just right for her “accessories.” This is what she will come with… a few baby chicks and an Easter basket with eggs in it… (Easter will be here before we know it… so I’m getting a head start on this holiday!)

That last picture of her holding the Easter basket it a great representation of the color of this fabric.. It’s very pretty!

There you go! A dress with a slip, a hair ribbon, a set of baby chicks and an Easter basket… all done in 2 days! WooHoo!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Perfect, spectacular, and sweet all rolled into one, Jeanne! How happy Sara looks to be in this darling outfit! I love the growth tuck, it DOES make a difference! The slip holds the dress out so well, and the little bralette, is adorable!

I was wondering about her hair, how they do that wrap around braid? I would be so afraid of taking it down to see just how they did that, but has anyone else who has Sara taken her hair down? Is it even all around, or longer in the front?

Easter can’t be that far away, and I think it is a good idea to get a jump on it. I am already debating what my dolls will be wearing for the big day! You certainly have the chance to make more Easter and spring dresses without worrying about having enough time

Good luck on the auction, but I don’t really think you need it at this point! You have already exceeded your expectations!

    1. Hi Linda,
Just from a glance at Sara’s hair from Jeanne’s first unboxing pictures, I think she has an inside out French braid crown.
I used to do all kinds of fancy hairstyles on my daughter for church and some less fancy for everyday.. For a few years she had her hair to lower back and I did French braids, inside out French braids, ropes, Queen Anne braid, French ponytails etc. I even would weave those tiny satin roses that came on a thin ribbon through the French braids.
I won’t take my Marie-Grace’s hair down, but I would love another one with different colored eyes to have for hair play.

      1. Hi Laura! An inside out French braid crown? What in the world is that? You certainly do sound professional and I wonder if it is hard to do. Just wondering, since I don’t really have anyone to do it on, but I could not figure out what was done by looking at it.
Thank you for giving me insight on that hairdo! I know now I would probably never learn to master it, since French braids don’t work out for me very well.

        1. Hi Linda,
Not sure you’ll see this, but I can always refer you back a page. AN inside out French braid is just like a regular French braid except you take the strand and the extra hair UNDER instead of over, so it raised the braid up instead of being flat against your head. The “crown means you’re only doing it from ear to ear across your head rather than vertically down the back. I had a hairdo book I purchased, but now I’m sure there are You Tube videos showing how it’s done. I’ve also heard it referred to as a Dutch braid. It’s just a matter of holding it all in your hands. When my hair was longer I could do a French braid on myself.

  2. Well, I guess someone won the outfit. Guess we’ll find out the winning bid Friday. Some dolly is going to be vey happy. 🙂
Love the special additions to Sara’s outfit. And especially the growth tuck that a lot of us were hoping would appear. The slip helps pull up the length too. It is nice to be able to see her legs. The girls here have their fingers crossed on this one. 🙂
My 89 year old aunt has been having trouble getting a vaccine appointment with Kaiser. She finally got through to someone who agreed that she should be vaccinated and put her on a “list.” Next day, she got a call and was told to contact any of the locations available from a list. Not Kaiser. Guess they are turning their patients over to whoever is available. Fortunately, the local paper had a list of places that were doing vaccinations for those over 75. I tried a couple and found that there were none with appointments here, but found that the local retirement community had openings. We emailed back and forth and finally, she was able to get an appointment for this Friday. Yay. Success. The drive is only a few miles away so that is great. It is pretty hard for not only seniors to navigate the current system here. Hopefully, it will get smoother soon.

    1. Hi Joy,
Just a quick note to you…the auction is STILL going on…it ends tonight at midnight… yes, the $50 mark was reached but the bidding is still open for higher bids until midnight tonight…the bidders are assured of getting all 8 pieces now… just wanted to clarify that…

I’m glad you like Sara’s dress set…I love her sweet smile too…they are adorable little dolls… and I’m so thrilled Donnell brought her Sara to my house when she delivered Poppy to me…otherwise I wouldn’t have known how sweet she was… :o)
      Thanks Joy…
      Dentist appt…
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. Sorry about that. I kept seeing Wednesday on the top of the post so was thinking it was yesterday. So, since everyone else seems to be able to read, unlike the person sitting here, there may be a lot more bids. 🙂

    2. I got the vaccination last Saturday. I’m registered as a patient of a clinic that’s associated with a large hospital in Southern California. They had only 300 openings on the past two weekends for people who are 75+. I was about 10th in line at 10:50 for an 11:15 appointment. Got in right on time but never would have if I hadn’t arrived that early. Take a chair or camp stool along like people were doing at Disneyland if the person is the least bit frail or let someone know if they’re very, very frail and they may let them in early where there are chairs. After another 30 minutes of sitting, standing and filling out paperwork, got the shot and was monitored for 15 minutes. They had only four people administering the shots. Glad I got it but would gladly have waited if it had gone to younger mothers and fathers who work in essential jobs.

      1. Hi, Susette. Well, at least you’re all set for the first round. I understand that they are opening up lots more slots very soon up here, so that should ease the burden. We haven’t had any wait times here as everyone has appointments and they seem well staffed. The major problem was the county changed the age to 75 from 65 and a lot of those 65 signed up anyway so they then had to turn them away leaving open slots. I believe tomorrow they are going to lower the age again to 65+, so everyone in that bracket will be signing up again. Those 75+ like my aunt were lost in the shuffle, but hopefully, tomorrow she will get her first vaccination. I hope she doesn’t have to wait too long. Thanks for the chair tip. I believe that she has already filled out the paperwork so should be good to go. When we got our vaccinations through Kaiser, all we had to do was read about the allergies and tell them no and that was it. I guess each agency in charge does things differently. Kind of a zoo it seems.

  3. Making her dress into an Easter dress was just the right thing to do,
. She looks like she is ready to feed her chicks.
Whoever wins your Jeans /shirt/t shirt/ skirt/ jacket/ hat/ blouse will get a real bonanza!

  4. Sara’s entire outfit set is just adorable. This dress is just as sweet as can be. The shortening of the hem looks better too. The little chicks and Easter basket are perfect for this lovely spring dress.
It will be fun to see how this auction goes with all the RRFF doll lovers!

  5. I do like that dress. I recognize the fabric as one you have used before, but it really compliments Sara’s coloring. I’m glad you added the growth tuck. It’s a small detail, but it adds a lot to the dress. The little eggs and chicks are cute!

  6. Sara is just adorable in that dress. Yes, this is the spectacular we want to see. I love the extra additions. The little chicks and basket of eggs are perfect. I’ll bet you never felt upset or even slightly frustrated the entire time.

  7. Sara’s dress is gorgeous! Her little chicks are so freakin’ cute.

I’m taking a break until after the 14th. Saturday is one year since we lost Mom and her funeral was on Valentine’s Day. Recently I’ve been struggling. I’m going to hibernate, read some books, go radio silence on all social media. I’ll be back later in the month.

You’ll be in my prayers, Julia. It’s always tough to lose a parent; been there, done that. 14 years since mom, 16 years since dad. It eventually gets easier, but it takes time, and there are still those moments that you really really miss them, even after many years!

    2. HI Julia,
Take care and I’ll be thinking of you… as momma died on the 7th… I think our moms died just a day apart… I miss mine too and hope you’ll feel the loving arms of the Lord during your quite times…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Our snowiest months tend to be in March and April — just as we are ready for spring. I think buyers are ready for spring too — no matter what we see out of our windows. I have renamed Sara’s dress Spring Chic, for the chickens.
We need a name for the outfit you are selling here. It takes the place of your midwinter outfit, with a warm furry jacket and a blouse that can be layered over the tee in early spring or worn with jeans for a trip to the Garden Center. I’m almost convincing myself that I need it. Maybe we need a Jeans/Jeanne’s mix and match every year as a blog tradition.

  9. Julia, I understand so well. I didn’t grieve as much for my dad even though I loved him dearly, he was 96 and was losing his quality of life but mum was only 62 and could have had years more. I still miss her. Will be thinking of you.
Jeanne, of all the seasons/celebrations in my topsy turvy world, Easter in spring is the one I miss most. Even after 47 years here I still associate Easter with spring flowers and baby chicks. Instead we have trees changing colour and losing their leaves. Instead of looking forward to more daylight, more sunshine, more warmth, our nights are darker earlier, and colder and we have the winter ahead. I miss Easter in spring far more than Christmas in winter.
I have been making real headway on my workroom. I decided that trying to sort everything properly was just not feasible. Most of my fabric is sorted I just have all the stuff I keep for shoes to sort and all the scraps (but that is a job for another day, week, three weeks lol), I have bought lots of good boxes so I can keep everything clean even if it has to go in the garage and everything that is Sam’s that was just around and not put away properly is in a box for her to sort out. Once the shoe stuff is sorted I can clean everything and then maybe start working again. I had hoped to have some outfits for Waitangi Day but that is this weekend and for Valentines day but that is a bit close too so I guess the next celebration will be Easter/autumn, then Matariki which is winter. If I manage Valentine’s Day I will send a photo.

Getting a late start here, as we lost power last night around 2, just as I would normally be getting to the blog and reading your new post! It was off over 2 hours, but by the time it came back on, I was sleeping. Woke up enough to turn off the hall light (which I left “on” so we would know), and back to bed.

I do love Sara’s beautiful outfit; the petticoat and bralette are a real plus. The pictures of her with the baby chicks are so cute!

I’m glad to see the bidding is going up on Julie/Chrissa’s mix/match outfit! Congrats to whoever wins it!

  11. Hi Jeanne,
Hope all is good with you. I hope the dentist appointment was just a cleaning. I’m not a fan but every 6 months I’m there.
Sara’s dress is lovely, the growth tuck is so sweet and I love the piping. It’s a lovely spring/easter outfit.
Love the auction on your blog idea. Good luck to all the bidders.
    hugs
    Ingrid

  12. You named this outfit Spring Chic. I may be the only one who thinks that’s funny. Going through the pictures again, I finally noticed the neckline, which I think is perfect on Sara. It’s going to be interesting how this auction goes, since there are not lots of Saras compared to AGs, but there aren’t lots of outfits competing either.
