I had to play catch up on some things around here since I’ve been tied up with dolls and sisters (which I both ENJOYED VERY MUCH!) but I was behind on a few things… when I was in town, and as I drove by the Goodwill, I decided to stop and there was someone just waiting for me to rescue them…
Anyone know who this dolly might be?
She’s 14″ tall…
Her hair is rooted…
I know her hair is a mess and it’s hard to tell, but as I picked her up, I felt her hair and thought there was hope for her… it actually felt like the same kind of hair that my Nahji, a Hearts for Hearts doll, I used to have, had. It was soft and silky and I was pretty sure I could tame it…
This is what she looked like with a little bit of using the wig brush… the hair is soft all the way to the ends and isn’t dry at all.
It can be brushed so it’s a bit full and wavy…
…or it can easily be smoothed and kept more straight…
It’s a great head of hair that I think has lots of possibilities for styling…
This is the back now…
It could be put in pony tails, or pulled back like Samantha wears her hair, or barrettes could be used on the sides or braids, like I did.
Can you see how shiny and thick it is?
Aren’t her little shortalls adorable too?
She has inset eyes, probably acrylic… they are a pretty green…
I actually didn’t notice it but she has a bit of the paint rubbed off on her upper lip in a tiny spot. I thought it was just the lights shining on her, but it is a slight bit rubbed off…
Anyway, she was a new doll I had never seen before, so I looked at the back of her neck and she’s a Lotus doll. Then I did some searching on Ebay and found out her name is Tatum and she’s a Lotus Bumbleberry doll. I’m not sure who sold her but it looks like maybe Sears did at one time… She is the Hispanic doll and she originally came with a backpack, a cap and a pair of croc looking shoes.
I looked at a few You Tube videos of the Bumbleberry Girls and they are similar in size and in their “storyline” of the Hearts 4 Hearts dolls. Tatum is also about the same size as the Wellie Wishers dolls… just a bit thicker in the waist since she has a cloth body.
This is an auction I found for her…
Here is another one…
If you look up Bumbleberry Doll on Ebay, you can see all the other versions…
She has a soft body and isn’t articulated, but she does bend at the arms and the hip joints… I forgot to undress her so you could see her… I’ll do that another time.
I’m not sure what I’ll do with her but she just needed to be rescued… Does anyone have one of the Bumbleberry Girls?
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
I hadn’t heard of the Bumbleberry Girls before; it’s always interesting to learn something new! Tatum is gorgeous, and you certainly worked wonders with her hair! Nice that it was such lovely fiber to begin with, though. I’m sure you’ll be able to fix her lip rub with a little acrylic paint, carefully blended.
Barbara, hope things went well for your new grandbaby! Do tell us all about it! Did you get to pick the other children up at school? I hope the delivery went fairly easily for your daughter-in-law.
I finished the skirt I was working on, and have started on the nightgown from the pattern I adjusted for my RRFF girls. I’ll let you know how it fits when I have it done. OF course, I have two RRFF girls, and so far only one nightgown cut out, so you know I’ll be making another one, too!!
This is a very cute doll! Do you currently have any this size, Jeanne? Can she share shoes (Say that 3 times fast!) with H4H or WW? Shoes are always an issue for lesser known dolls.
When I saw the first photo after brushing, I noticed her feet. They have the separation at the toe like the RR Fashion Friends dolls. I wonder about her shoe size? Regardless, it was interesting to see her and read the information you provided. She will definitely add to someone’s collection. So many dolls and so little time. 🙂
Speaking of dolls, I heard from Connie Lowe and my two girls are going to be on the table very soon. Can’t wait for my first from her. And My Kaye Wiggs Abby is due here tomorrow I believe. She’ll be a nice companion for the sweet Lenny Elf who already resides here. 🙂
And we had actual rain last night. Yay. 🙂
Forgot to add a reminder about the neat free pattern today at Pixie Faire. 🙂
That is really neat you found her at Good Will. She is a beautiful doll. She has lovely hair. Today is my youngest’s birthday. She has turned 2. I was at the Good Will yesterday too, but the most exciting thing was an owl with sparkly sequins that you can move back and forth. So thatis Avila’s birthday present. Her Grandparents sent her a blue donkey that you pump air into to blow it up. She likes to bounce on it and feed it grass. Better work now! Bye!
What a pretty doll you found at Goodwill! She’s a nice size and has a pretty face and beautiful hair. I like her hair in braids.
Hope your day goes well and slows down for you a bit. You are one busy gal.
Yes Barbara, how’s the new grand-baby doing?
I hope your grandbaby arrived safely, Barbara. I’m looking forward to hearing the news.
What a pretty doll you found and Goodwill, Jeanne and her hair is lovely. The toe separation makes flip flops work for her. The Aussie girl dolls have those. I also thought the Florrie girls were pretty, but they’re out of business now.
Her hair is nice and thick and looks lovely in braids.
I’ve never heard of Bumbleberry dolls, but she is certainly cute. I like the darker skin tone and the full, silky hair. Her face is cute too. I’m pretty sure you can fix that lip rub, or at least blend it in where it is not too noticeable. It’s hard to guess what things turn up at Goodwill. My local one used to occasionally have some nice things, but the last few times I went, it seemed to be getting pretty junky. I haven’t been lately though.
You have the secret to finding good things at second hand stores….stop often😊
She is a sweet doll and you do wonders with hair!
Do you have shoes for her?I have some white crock-like ones she would be cute in…tell me her foot size 😉. Have fun weekend!
I’ll join the rest of the sofa sisters, Barbara, in hoping your new grandbaby arrived safely. My grand daughter’s baby is due around my birthday so would be nice if she was born then.
Jeanne, how do you find such great things at goodwill? The dolls I have seen at our local charity shops have all been cheap play dolls, mostly broken, knock off Barbie dolls (also usually broken) or the cheaper porcelain dolls. I had never heard of the Bumbleberry dolls but she is very pretty and you did a great job with her hair. I’m sure you will be able to fix the little rubbing on her lips.
Sam and I are going to get rid of a lot of rubbish today. Amazing how much you can collect. I put as much as I can in my red (rubbish) or yellow (recycling) bins which are emptied fortnightly (alternately) but not everything fits when you have a sort out!
Joy so glad you got some rain at last. Hope you get some more soon.
I saw the Friday Freebie pattern on Pixie Faire and downloaded it. It is rather pretty. I have a huge roll of apricot pink polyester silk that came from a thrift store. My friend used to work there and when it came in she immediately thought of me. She didn’t think it was the kind of thing that would sell in the shop. It was purchased by a choir who were going to have matching blouses for all their members then changed their mind on the colour! I think it would work well with this pattern. I will have to start using it, so far I have made a few silk roses from it but that didn’t even use any of the roll only the scraps with it. Sadly she has since passed away, she was a lovely lady. As well as volunteering in the thrift shop, she offered to do any mending for the Delta clients but wouldn’t allow her name to be used, she did it all anonymously (to the clients).
Finally here! What a cute little doll you found and rescued! You always find something in not too good of condition and then make it look almost new! She is a cute little doll that could make some little girl happy!
I have been cleaning, cleaning, cleaning, since I have all the Christmas decorations put away, and I cannot believe how dirty my windows are……..inside! You would not believe it, and I don’t think I did at first, but boy, it must be the dust from the heating vents blowing it all over! It is much too cold to do the outside, but the inside was bad enough! I can’t believe how pretty my sheers look now after washing them! Now with all the glitter and dust gone, I guess I can start on something else!
Yes, Anne, artificial plants are the best sometimes! I am overwintering a small rose Bush in the basement, and it is covered with all those little white specks, whatever they are. I sprayed them, and they are gone for now, but they will be back, no doubt! Nothing I like that with artificial plants!
I hope Barbara’s grandchild gets here today with no problems! So exciting to have a new baby in the family! And I see someone new has come to your house too!
I never heard of the Bumbleberry Girls either. She is a lovely doll. Can she wear H4H clothes and shoes? I guess you won’t be keeping her. If you sell her and I show an interest, please tell me no. I just added a Blythe and A Girl for All Time, Sam, and I’m still waiting for the LD from Magalie. I really am running out of room. I’ve got to stop thinking of myself as the forever home for every doll that needs one.
Now for an update on yesterday’s baby watch. When I talked to my son around 10 am yesterday morning he was on his way to the hospital. Dionne had gone in to see the doctor and the doctor decided to go ahead and admit her. Since the hospital and the professional building are right next to each other, she just walked over. Sean and I discussed the logistics for the day and if he was not available to pick up the grandkids from school we would do it but we needed to know by 2 pm, since we had to stop by their house and get the placard for our car. As discussed he called at 2 pm and said no way he was going to be able to pick them up, things were going very slowly. We picked the kids up at 3:30 pm, right on schedule, which was good because we’d never done it before and had no clue what we were doing. The kids had no idea what had been going on all day but when we drove up my grandson told the teachers he recognized the car and it was his grandparents. They’re parents had given them a heads-up that we might have to pick them up one day. Sure beats having to get up in the middle of the night. They released the kids and they hopped in the car. They told us what their after-school schedule was and we went home and they changed their clothes and got on their computers to do a math game they do every day. Sean was hoping to be home by dinner time but texted me about 6 pm that things were still going slowly. We took the kids to dinner and when we got home they took their showers and got ready for bed. While we were at dinner Dionne started moving along better but she was in pain and that was actually slowing things down. They finally talked her into letting them help with the pain. They realized that every time she tensed up, she pushed the baby back up. Once they did that things happened rapidly but it was 9 pm when my son texted and said the baby was on his way. Not too long after he sent a picture saying he’s here. He weighed 9 lbs. 6 oz. The hospital was only a short distance away so Sean was home about 10 pm and we got home about 11:30 p.m. This morning he came out here to go with David to pick up the power lift recliner we bought pending David’s anticipated months of ongoing surgery and recuperation for heart and knees. Sean said Dionne was doing great but the baby had a problem with regulating body temp last night so they were going to keep them both until they felt sure that was taken care of.
I’m glad the baby waiting game is over so I can set my sights on David’s surgery next week. With him having bad knees and getting heart surgery we were faced with the problem of how can he get out of a chair when he can’t use his knees or push up with his arms because of his heart surgery. Hence the power lift recliner. But I needed a new recliner anyway so I will take the one he has now, which is a very nice one with a remote for different functions.
The power lift recliner has arrived and it appears to be acceptable to David. Thank Heaven because he has a lot of requirements. Sean talked to Dionne and everything seems to be okay now with the baby and she is ready to come home. Probably tomorrow. Ticking things off my to-do list right and left. Lots still on the list.
Congratulations Barbara, on the new baby. Glad he is here and everyone is safe and sound.
Congrats on the new grand. How exciting. Has he been named? Always want to know names. 🙂
Dear Barbara, congratulations! I am happy that the new baby is here and all is well.
I will continue to pray for you and your husband.
Congratulations from me too, Barbara… I’m still up and thought I’d send my congrats!
I hope he is a great addition to the family… I’m sure he will be… this will give your hubby something to look forward to after his surgery… cuddling this little guy in his new chair…
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh, Barbara — what fun you are having. It sounds like everything is working out but it must be a lot of work.
Jeanne, the new doll is pretty — funny none of us knew about them. You’ve done great things with her hair.
Amazon sells them, so does Walmart and Sears. Target age is 3, price is under $20. To see the complete line, go to
https://dollation.com/dollipedia/brand/bumbleberry-girls
The line also sells baby dolls.
Dear Jeanne, what a cutie doll. I guessed that she was a Wellie Wisher so I was totally wrong.
I do remember the doll now that you have told us her name. I bought a few of the dolls for our doll club raffle when Kmart was going out of business a few years ago. I miss Kmart. It had good items at good prices. Oh wait, that sounds like Ollies (laugh).
I miss Poppy. Do you know what will happen to her in the end? Will she go back to the artist?
HI Dorothy,
I’m still up so thought I’d answer a few who had questions…
I miss Kmart too… I loved their stuff… they carried TALL shirts for my hubby and he LOVED that!
I don’t know what will happen to the dolls who are traveling around… maybe a drawing for them? I’m not sure, but when I find out I’ll let everyone know…
Thanks Dorothy,
Blessings, Jeanne
