I know that’s not a very original name for this dress, but when I look at it, I just think it looks so little girlish and feminine and old fashioned to me… You don’t see little girls dressing like this as much anymore and I’d like to do my part in keeping the look alive as long as I am able.
I’m trying as fast as I can to get this finished so some sweet little dolly can be wearing this for Christmas or New Years… I think it could work for either.
I made her thigh highs from a silver flecked stretch fabric… and it REALLY does shimmer, but once again, my camera can’t pick up how much it glistens… just believe me…it does.
Then we moved onto her slip…a very full twirly slip… all my girls love to model them…
See how it holds out her dress?
This was without the slip…
This is a better picture with the color back in my picture…
Of course we had to figure out what kind of head accessory we were going to have and Noel said she wanted one of those big “fluffy” hats like she’d seen me make for other girls. There was just a 5″ length of the silver ribbon left so I added it for a ribbon trim.
…and the whole look so far…
We put on our black patent leather shoes and are just about ready to do our modeling for Ebay… (momma still needs to figure out her accessory…)
Enjoy a few more pictures…just because she’s so pretty…
See you Monday,
Blessings, Jeanne
That outfit is coming together so beautifully! I agree, the “puffy” hat adds just the right touch!
I was thinking a white teddy bear (or bunny or kitty) might be nice, if there’s one in your toy box. Or perhaps a miniature Christmas ornament (or snowflake ornament)? Just some random thoughts….
Gorgeous! Isn’t the darling little jacket considered an accessory?
We are having ThanksChristmas at Dad’s today. Husband, Son, and Brother in law for a traditional dinner. I am going back home on Monday. After approximately 3.5 months.
Looking good. I would still like to see a little pearl bracelet with a silver bell or some little charm for her. Or that cute tree ornament to hang would work too. Love the thigh highs. So much easier than tights to put on. 🙂
Hope you have some break time today. You’ve really been putting in the hours lately. Don’t want you to get sick.
Oh really cute, Jeanne! I love the way the dress stands out with the new petticoat! The thigh highs are just perfect for the outfit too! I was wondering if that cute little muffin hat would fit on a doll whose hair is not quite so fluffy. Did you make it to fit just Noel, or will it be able to fit other dolls with hair closer to the head. Maybe you could try it on another doll just to see.
I am trying to get some pictures together without going over board and taking up too much space in the blog. I’d love to have all the sofa sisters come and visit with me and I could take you around and show my Christmas things.
Just an update here, tomorrow is Kirsten’s big day, the Feast of St. Lucia! Does anyone have her St. Lucia outfit? Since I don’t have Kirsten, Felicity has the honors this year!
I have Kirsten’s tray and buns with the heart shaped candle holder, but I pretend they’re lebkuchen instead. *smiles* I like to do St. Nicholas’ Day with my dolls for the German/ Victorian connection on December 6th.
My daughter had the whole PC outfit (gown, wreath, and tray) for her Kirsten, but sadly those were one of many things sold during her downsizing If only I had been collecting then I would have kept it. Don’t even ask me why she sold the things she did.
Have you seen the Advent Calendar from Jacquie Lawson this year? It is Nordic and has a lot of stories and customs from those countries. Not to mention that it is totally beautiful as usual. Do you know the story of the Yule Goat? On the date they told the story of the Yule Goat I was trying to find what had changed on the calendar. Don’t know how I missed it at first. A huge Yule Goat showed up. Now I’m waiting for the dates around it to come up to see if it’s going to be a celebration. St. Lucia of course is mentioned. I’m waiting to see what shows up on that date.
Dear Barbara, I have the Advent Calendar also! Someone sent it to me as a gift. I am having fun with it. I love finding the little elves.
I have it, too–and have the last 3 or 4 also! Such fun. I love decorating the Christmas tree–lots of choices of lights and ornaments! (If you’re wondering, click on the building with the star, then click on the tree!)
Hi Jeanne,
This sweet dress is absolutely charming. It may be to late but because your last dress was also called Old Fashioned Christmas perhaps this adorable ensemble could be called Winter Delight. Anyways just my two cents, normally I keep my lips zipped : )
All that yummy looking food you prepared for your party made my mouth water! mmm
Hope you are enjoying your weekend.
Hugs
Ingrid
HI Ingrid!
Perfect timing… I was trying frantically to think of a new name for the dress, but was coming up with nothing… I already had is scheduled to go on at 8:30 tonight, but as soon as I just now saw your title, I hurried and went in there and changed it. It was the perfect name!!! Thank you SO much1 I love it! And so did Noel…
Blessings, Jeanne
I like Winter Delight. Old Fashioned Holidays? Christmas in Blue? Holiday Sparkles? New Year’s Dream? Winter Dream? Still — Winter says “not just Christmas” and Delight suggests the silver sparkles and the Jewish Festival of Lights. The outfit is also delightful.
I would have chosen white or silver shoes, but I think the shiny black ones provide a nice accent and are a better choice.
Hi Marilyn. I told Sam that next year I want to do a dolly display for Christmas and asked whether we should do a winter or summer theme. She said it had to be a Kiwi Christmas lol, so it will be beachwear and sunshine! I might do a winter theme for Matariki in July.
Thanks Marilyn,
Thanks to Ingrid, she saved the day just in the nick of time… I already had my dress scheduled to go on Ebay around 8:30 tonight, but when I saw her comment, I hurried and changed it before it went on… YAY! AND I copied all the names you suggested too… thanks to all you ladies who keep my names list full! I’ll be using these for sure…
Blessings ,Jeanne
Winter Delight seems to describe that cute set. The hat is so cute and the jacket always looks nice with your dresses. The thigh high stockings are just soooomuch easier to put on! My vote for accessory is a white kitten…if you have one😉
Almost 2/3 done with my sons quilt…must keep pedal to the metal today!
Hope she has a great auction!
Hi Jeanne, I love Noelle’s outfit, can’t wait to see what accessory you add.
Since you insist I send a photo I have a wall hanging you haven’t seen. I made it around 14 yrs ago for another exhibition so will take a picture of that and I always decorate several cakes for others so will photograph them when they are done. Only baked them yesterday. I have a great recipe for Christmas fruit cake that I always use. No butter, eggs, or sugar. I usually make it for a couple of friends one who is vegan and gluten free and the other, well it is quicker to list what he can eat he is allergic to just about anything, including dairy, eggs and gluten but he can eat dried fruit and dark chocolate so I just add gluten free flour instead of regular flour and apart from spices and essences that is pretty much all there is in it. I don’t decorate their cakes though as I am pretty sure that there will be stuff in the icing that they don’t eat. They don’t care, just love to have something sweet that they can eat, especially Tim.
It will be baking week next week. I usually make up a hamper for my children of home baked goodies including (sweet) mince pies (a very British tradition) and shortbread, though my youngest son doesn’t like that but he loves mince pies. I used to cut the shortbread into all kinds of shapes and decorate them for the children but they are all older now so I don’t bother. I might do a few for Ashley but judging from her cake she probably won’t care either unless it is Minecraft.!
Interesting about the mince pies. Our Thanksgiving and Christmas get togethers of the past always included Mince pie ( I almost put in Mice pie, whoops). I’m sure that originated from my grandmother’s side, as her grandmother was English and born in Sommersetshire, England.
Noel’s dress set is just darling. I love her sparkly tights. This will be a perfect outfit for a New Year’s Eve party and anything in January. I like Winter Delight as well as this seems more wintery than Christmas to me. You always seem to have just enough of something to complete the current outfit. Case in point, the silver ribbon. I think the black patent leather shoes are a classic, they go with anything.
Beautiful little outfit. I think a white kitten would be nice but I imagine they are few and far between. I have a lot of teddy bears but no kittens. Still decorating but I think today will be the last. Seem to be losing momentum as I go, but I still plan to take some pictures once I get my street lamps set up.
Everything about this beautiful outfit is perfect!
Dear Jeanne, Noel could certainly lead the Christmas Parade in that lovely dress. I am sure she will not want to give it up (laugh).
HI everyone,
I have Noel’s dress set ready to go on Ebay in about 45 minutes or so… AND thanks to Miss Ingrid, it now has a new name… she suggested Winter Delight and as soon as I saw that, I quickly went to Ebay and changed the name… much better…Thank you Ingrid. AND Marilyn gave me about 6 o r 7 new names for outfits too… Thanks to all of you for helping me out when my brain is too busy thinking of other things and I can’t even come up with a new name for a doll dress!
You all are such gifts to me…you have no idea how much I enjoy visiting with you daily!
Well, I’m trying to get something else done this evening… so I have to scramble.
I am helping out at the Food Pantry Celebration in Spirit and Love tomorrow. It’s supposed to be in the 40’s tomorrow and I’m one of the ones outside… BRRRR! We have food and gifts and toys and stockings to give away to the first 300 families that come through. I might be frozen when I get home but I’ll see you Monday morning…
Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah to everyone,
Blessings, Jeanne
