(I was reading a few comments I missed on the Christmas Eve post…and saw that we had a birthday girl on the 26th! Happy Birthday, Barbara! Hope your lunch was wonderful!) :o)
I bet you thought I had forgotten about comparing the dress I made for 10″ Patsy Tonner to the one I just completed for Noel, my 10″ Boneka doll. Well, you were “almost” right if you did. I remembered it laying in bed last night and decided I better get it shown, just in case you were still waiting! :o)
If you recall, I mentioned I had made a dress for Patsy a few years ago, but I wasn’t going to look at it to see what details I had used on it. It was the same fabric and I was pretty sure it was the same color of blue felt but that’s all I remembered… oh, except I knew there was some kind of fur on it on the hat and I “thought” on the sleeves of the jacket. I haven’t looked at the dress until just now… so we’ll see it together… and you can decide which one you like the best, or if you just like them both! :o)
The dress I made for Patsy was called Snow Princess and I do remember that name for some reason… it was made back in 2015…so here she is… Patsy as Snow Princess…
If you click on the pictures they will enlarge…
I see I used that silver Sliver thread as the edge stitching on her jacket and some tiny beads on her jacket…
The same silver ribbon was used….
Looks like silver thigh highs too… :o)
The dress I made for Noel was called “Winter Delight” …thanks to Ingrid… Here is her dress…
Before I sent this dress out, I changed the french knots to these crystal beads…
So there you have it… two sweet little dresses in two different styles!
Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and are ready for the new year to begin!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Fun to see the two similar outfits! I do like the “fur” trim you used on Patsy’s outfit, but both are really cute.
We had a quiet Christmas here, just the two of us. Midafternoon we took flowers out to my parents’ graves (as I always do for holidays, etc.), but that was our only outing. Hope everyone else had a nice holiday!
How similar the dresses are, Jeanne! I love them both, and really like the “fur” as trim. I was hoping for somehting like that on Noel’s dress, but then i see it would not be an “original” if you did that! It’s nice to see a variation!
Christmas here was very nice, but it was just the two of us, and we did get to go to church, so that made it so much more meaningful. The day after, the 26th, happens to be our wedding anniversary, our 54th, and it was also spent quietly here at home. We had a nice dinner, what else can you do in times like this? It was so long ago that I walked down the aisle in my velvet wedding dress and was a Chjriatmas bride!
Happy Belated Birthday to Barbara!
I think we are all looking forward to a better year ahead! I’m wondering who is going to be the next girl up for a new dress?
Dear Linda, congratulations! I am glad that you had a nice meal with your beloved.
Congratulations, Linda! I’m sure your velvet gown was lovely. I’ve often thought that would be something I’d like…but not in May, which is when we got married! LOL We have #47 coming up.
So hard to believe that New Years will be here this week. Taking down the tree was a breeze yesterday as we only had one ornament on it. A photo given to us of the grands. Maybe next year we will do more. 🙂
Hope everyone had a lovely holiday.
Jeanne, both blue outfits are beautiful. I too like the fur look added to Patsy’s sleeves and her hat but yet Noel’s outfit has its own look with her hat style. The fabric is just perfect for a winter dress. Love the snowflake in each jacket.
Happy birthday to Barbara. And congratulations to Linda on her anniversary. I can imagine both celebrations being fun around Christmas. Linda, I always thought a Christmas time wedding would be a beautiful sight using a snow or wintry theme or white velvet or crystal decorations with holly in some fashion in the wedding itself or the reception area.
And I thought I was being the stingiest about decorating this year. I feel better already, Joy. Thank goodness I had the little tree for the American Girl dolls or I’d probably have no tree up at all. Christmas is about sharing but not this year.
***** HAPPY Belated BIRTHDAY, BARBARA!!! *****
****** HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO YOU, LINDA!!! *****
A winter white wedding would be so beautiful.
I do remember the first dress and it’s fun to see it with the second and amazing to see how similar they are. The sparkly trim on Patsy’s is really cute.
Ha ha Joy, I can relate to the Christmas tree. I never got the big tree up this year, just string white and colored lights around my small 3 foot tree. It’s the one I use as a second tiny Christmas tree and then used to decorate for January and February. With my German wooden figures and Hummels out it was fine. I miss having everything out, but that’s what happened. I’ll leave what I do have up out until Epiphany as always though.
Happy belated birthday Barbara, it was my sister’s birthday on 26th as well, her 70th. Today (29th) is my youngest grandaughter’s 10th birthday (Ashley).
Happy anniversary Linda I am always a bit envious of people who celebrate over 50 yrs. I got to celebrate my 25th (and a couple more) before ‘he traded me in for a younger model’.
The photo comparison is cute Jeanne. There are some similarities but they look quite different. Love the fur trim! Both are lovely.
Found an interesting book at the library a couple of weeks ago and a second in the series just before Christmas. If you love ‘cosy crime’ (I’m completely addicted to the genre) you might find them interesting. The author is Sara E Johnson, she is American but she spent time in New Zealand when her husband got work here, I think for a year. The main character is an American forensic expert, particularly in odontology, who is in NZ on a work visa and who also tends to get involved in trying to solve the crimes (of course). Fascinating to me to see an American view of the country I have grown to love, the view of someone who seems to love it as much as I do and who finds some things about it as perplexing as I did. Some things still perplex me. For instance, in US you have chips and fries, in UK they have crisps and chips. Here they are all chips! If you send someone out for chips you have to make it clear whether you mean what you call chips or what you would call fries! Mad! I guess context is everything. lol
My decorations will stay up now until Epiphany. Sam and the girls will come around on New Year’s Eve to see the New Year in. I can’t wait to see the back of 2020 personally. The only thing that could make 2021 worse for us if Sam gets an adverse result when she finishes her treatment. Other than that it has to be better. Did I tell you that her hair, now it has regrown after the really tough chemo, has come back really curly (but very much greyer)? It looks lovely, something good from a particularly nasty treatment!
Lovely to be back talking to you all again.
I’m going to have to look for that author, Anne, as I love cozy mysteries!! And I’m a voracious reader!! Back last summer, when I injured my back and couldn’t do much standing up, I spent a lot of time reading, also embroidering. I probably read 2 or 3 books a week then. Now, it’s a busier time (and my back is better) so maybe one book a week or so.
Glad Sam is doing better. Hope she continues in good health.
It’s interesting to hear different expressions and different names of things.
Some relatives of ours down South always referred to driving someone somewhere as, “ I’ll carry you over to the store.”
We say to the same as, “I’ll drive you over to the store.” Lol.
Happy Birthday, Barbara!
Happy Anniversary, Linda!
Back when you mentioned making a similar blue dress for Patsy, Jeanne, I put her name in your blog search bar and found it. I like them both!
We had our son here for Christmas dinner. I got out the Christmas table cloth, my china, wedding silverware, and crystal goblets that my mom and dad got as wedding presents. I dressed up, too. Velvet dress and as much Christmas jewelry as I could pile on!
I LOVE Christmas jewelry, Julia! I have probably about three dozen Christmas pins, everything from small, subdued things to 3″ full of sparkling crystals!!! The closer it gets to Christmas, the bigger and gaudier my pins get!! I also have a couple of bracelets and a couple of necklaces, just for Christmas! Such fun!
Thanks to everyone for the Happy Birthday wishes. Hubby and I had a lovely dinner at The Cheesecake Factory. We used to go to a St. Stephen’s Day Pub Mass on my birthday run by an Episcopal church in Houston. It was always so much fun and then we would stay after for a pub meal and a pint of Guinness. It was also a donation drive for the Lord of the Streets ministry to the homeless. Admission was blankets, coats, socks or anything that might be needed by someone living on the streets. But over the years it got so crowded that it was hard to find a table. I didn’t check, but I imagine it was not even held this year. A couple years ago we started going to The Cheesecake Factory so I could wallow in the beautiful Christmas decorations in the area.
A big Happy Anniversary to Linda D and her hubby. Congratulations on 54 years of wedded bliss.
I love both of the blue ensembles. I remembered seeing pictures of the Patsy outfit and I loved it, but the one for Noel has it’s own special charm. Both lovely.
I spent part of the day cleaning up and recycling all the boxes that the gifts I ordered came in. and putting up all the wrapping materials. I keep the boxes until after Christmas in case I need a small one to wrap something in or a larger one to pack up all the gifts to take with us. We spent Christmas day with our youngest son and his family. Our oldest son was there also so it was the usual seven of us, since our daughter and her family live in Loveland, CO and aren’t usually home for the holidays. I just had a duo call with them and that was fun. Our grandson is three and talking, so we get input from him every now and then. Video calls are really great when family does not live close. It’s almost like being with them.
Our decorations will stay up until January 6 but most, including our town, will take them down soon after New Year’s. I will miss seeing those wonderful lights more this year than usual.
Dear Barbara, Happy Birthday! The Cheesecake Factory is a dangerous place (laugh). I always want to sample every flavor. I am glad you had a nice date.
Did your finish the Advent Calendar? Did you find all of the little elves? Wasn’t that fun? i wish there were an interactive calendar for every day of the year.
I finished my Advent calendar, and found all the little tomte (elves). The videos were really beautifully done, but there weren’t nearly as many games as in previous years, and that’s what I like best! Fortunately, I still have some of the past ones on my computer, so can go there to play games!!
Dear Jeanne, both dresses are adorable. I think that both dolls can wear both dresses. I love when I find the my dolls can share clothes. They are not usually thrilled though (laugh).
I know I always want to dance around the Maypole; in three days we can dance around a statue of Father Time as we ring in 2021.
Just took time to read the comments… I think we would love to see Linda’s white velvet Christmas wedding dress! Then maybe the other Sofa Sisters in their wedding dresses?? Just a thought😉 Lots of Christmas birthdays..mine on the 27th. We worked it into Christmas this year.
Those light blue dresses are just so pretty! Without you looking before you started on #2 they do resemble each other. They bring out the best of everything…the doll, the ribbons, the beading, the hats, the fabric design, the snowflakes.
After putting up 3 trees they are going to stay a bit longer. I’ll get out the Snowmen…they don’t come out until the Santa’s get put away😉
My second message was for Anne. Sorry it didn’t go where it should.
Julia: love Christmas jewelry too! Your table setting sounds beautiful!
