I had a wonderful time with my sisters this visit and I think it was because we just got to be sisters again… The last few visits still had things to be taken care of since my mom passed away but this time was just about having fun and laughing and sharing stories and memories and doing things together. We shopped and ate wonderful food and did a few projects and made face masks and it was all glorious! This visit definitely gets the prize for the most laughs! When and if this pandemic gets over, we are going to have a girls week down at Deb’s in Springfield, MO and just let the fun continue! I hope you have a sister you can be silly and fun with and love on. If not, I’ll give my sisters an extra hug just for you! They are leaving Wednesday morning and I’m already sad!
While they were here, I asked them which doll they liked dressed up best in the Regency dress and without knowing what the other one had decided, they both picked…. Elizabeth. There is just something about her in this set that might not be seen through the lens of my camera. She looks absolutely elegant and a little bit grown up and just plain ole’ pretty in this set. Cindy thinks it’s her longer neck… I might be inclined to agree.
I styled her hair in a side ponytail and now the back details on her spencer can be seen.
Rebecca finished her necklace and it’s very nice with this set. She picked a smooth reddish stone with black and gold accents. The back closes with a magnetic clasp for easy off and on.
When I list this set, I WILL show the dress on the other girls too… they just won’t get the majority of the pictures like Elizabeth will.
If you’re disappointed that “your” girl didn’t win, come back tomorrow and see some fun things from a few readers…ALL dolly related! :o)
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
I’m glad you and your sisters had such a wonderful time together! I have never had a sister, just a brother, and it’s not quite the same! However, my best friend is probably as close as any sister, and we’ve known each other almost forever–since first grade!! (That was in 1952.) We even ended up with last names that are similar–she’s Troyer, I’m Trayer. Honest!! Many other similarities, too. Don’t get to see each other nearly enough, as we’re 2000 miles apart.
Anyway, the first thing I noticed when I saw the first picture of Elizabeth was the beautiful necklace Rebecca made for her. She really nailed it, with the colors, the red stone for the center, etc. Well done!!
I also like that you swept her hair to the side, to show off the back of her Spencer.
Hi Charlotte,
Sisters and best friends are the best, arent they? We really did have a great visit this time!!
I thought Rebecca’s necklace was perfect too…glad you liked it.
I had never fixed Elizabeth’s hair that way, but really think it was perfect to show off the back of her Spencer.
Blessings, Jeanne
I am glad you had such a good time. You deserved that and I’ll bet Deb and Cindy did too. I think you all should sign and date your painted creations, like the mini-buffet. It would be another way of saving the memories.
My Elizabeth is watching this outfit with interest and definitely approves of the side ponytail and the new necklace. I don’t know if you’ve ever made a prettier outfit, but there are some contenders — do you remember the Blue Diamonds dress? It would be fun to hear and see what other people remember with particular affection.
Hi Marilyn
I’m glad you like the mini buffet…me too…and I will have to have Cindy sign it when she comes back.
You tell Elizabeth to keep on watching the dress… :o) I really enjoyed making this one and love everything about it!
I DO remember the blue diamonds dess
I might have to do a post of “Readers Choice Dresses” and we could start with the Diamonds dress. :o)
Thanks Marilyn
Blessings, Jeanne
Readers Choice seems like an excellent idea to me.
Wow, Marilyn beat me to it this morning! So, Elizabeth won, and deservedly so! She is the one you picked out to make the dress for in the first place! I’m happy to see that the back of the jacket in all it’s glory can now be seen! That was one thing I had against the long haired dolls.
Then too, that beautiful necklace is just the perfect touch! I was hoping Rebecca would NOT be making a sparkly necklace. This is the right kind of necklace for this outfit and I heartily approve of it, as if you need my opinion!!
Well, my sisters and I live kind of far apart, and we don’t get together much at all. Maybe one or two of us see each other, but you certainly are lucky to have the two you have!
That is a good idea that Marilyn had, about signing your painted creations!
Hi Linda,
When I think about it now, I’m glad Cindy and Deb both agreed on the same doll. I don’t know what I would have done if they had picked different dolls.
I’m just thankful Cindy and Deb come here as often as they can…
Rebecca really got the necklace right, didn’t she? I think it6s perfect for this set…
Thanks Linda,
Blessings ,Jeanne
Elizabeth was my favorite too:) love the side swept low ponytail, and the sweet little kiss curls set off her face and the bonnet s prettily. Rebecca’s necklace is the perfect finishing touch to your gorgeous outfit!
I have two brothers.. never got a sister. They are wonderful guys, and they love me so much, but I truly missed not having a sister to share our lives together:) so happy that you three were able to laugh and enjoy each other!🌹
Shara, I had three boys and a girl and my daughter missed out on having a sister which is probably why she and I are so close, my sister lives in UK 12,000 miles away but Sam and I do practically everything together. Her husband never goes anywhere if there is a possibility it will be ‘boring’ which includes all children’s activities, school assemblies, prize giving, concerts etc, so I have always gone with her.
Thanks Shara,
Elizabeth does look awfully pretty in her new dress… I’m super happy with how everything turned out this time.
I think I saw a picture of you between your 2 brothers one time on facebook! They looked like great brothers!!
Blessings, Jeanne
So, what did your sisters think of the finished sewing room? Look how great it is working with your latest creation for Elizabeth! And Elizabeth, my choice, has never looked lovelier. 🙂 With the side pony and exquisite new necklace, she’s ready for her next adventure. It would be interesting to measure the mold neck length of several AG’s to see if Elizabeth indeed has the longer neck. Get right on that Jeanne. 🙂
No siblings here. Gets kind of lonely sometimes. Glad you have another adventure planned for Missouri in the future. Hope that wish speeds the cure for the epidemic. Can’t wait to see your next sewing creation.
Hi Joy,
Thanks for the link to the dust corners. The really add an elegant touch. I don’t like things clutter, but I guess I am of the “more is more” crowd. I adore gingerbread on houses and Victorian Gothic (with the arched windows is probably my favorite style of architecture. My great aunt had a carpet runner fastened down on her stairs, but look at this with the stair rods, gorgeous IMO https://www.oldhouseonline.com/interiors-and-decor/stair-rods-dust-corners
My town has a lot of that architecture, sadly my house isn’t. I am a firm believer though that you can decorate the inside in any style you want. I saw a magazine article once where someone lived in a 1950’s ranch and when you stepped inside the entire thing was French Provincial.
Laura, love the stairs. Reminds me of my grandmother’s house, but not as elegant and no stair rods. Probably a good thing, as my favorite thing was to slide down the steps on my bottom. I was not allowed to try the banister. 🙂
Hi Joy,
Cindy and Deb loved my new sewing room
.. they looked at everything and commented on it all. I think the floor was their favorite, though.
I think Elizabeth looks extra pretty in this dress set too…usually it’s blue that wins me over on her, but this time it was red…
You’re an only child? I didn’t know that.
I’m already looking forward to the trip to Missouri and having that girls week!
Thanks Joy,
Blessings ,Jeanne
Dear Jeanne, I am happy that you are planning a visit to see your sister when these times are over. I think it is important to make plans and to envision a world without the chaos that is occurring right now.
The dress is stunning. As others have noted, it does seem quite special.
I am planning to “attend” the next program of the Virtual Doll Convention. Yesterday, we learned techniques for cleaning rescue dolls and washing their clothing.
Hi Dorothy,
I just told Joy I’m already planning for that girl’s week in MO whenever it can happen!!
I do think this dress is very pretty. I love making Regency dresses and was glad Elizabeth’s name was drawn for the next dress…I was ready to do a Regency dress!!
I hope you have fun at the next virtual doll convention…it seems like you are.
Thanks Dorothy,
Blessings, Jeanne
One lovely outfit! Any AG lover would swoon!😉
Rebecca did the perfect necklace too…that red center bead just sets it off! I hope come winter you make that same jacket with Christmas colors. Wouldn’t you love to have a jacket like that? The gathers and waist band are brilliant!
Luckily I have one sister and she is a go getter. She does more in a day than I do in a week! She lives with her youngest daughter who has 3 little ones and I think that helps keep her in high gear. When she is here we make up for lost time☺️ She just left last week and we actually had a big long hug….felt soooo good!
Hi Kathie,
I definitely wil be making another jacket like this one..I really like it too.
You and your sisters seem like you have as much fun when you get together as we do…
Thanks Kathie
Blessings ,Jeanne
I loved Elizabeth in the outfit, I think it may be because you made it for her. Glad you had such a good time.
Thank you Anne,
Maybe you’re right…I started with Elizabeth, so it was destined for her to wear it to the end!!
We really did have a good time…a much needed good time!!
Blessings ,Jeanne
Elizabeth looks very pretty with the side ponytail and Rebecca’s necklace is just lovely and suits it so well. Well, I guess it was unanimous, all three of you like it best on Elizabeth. I guess sister think alike.
I glad you had a wonderful time with your sisters.
Hi Laura,
Cindy thought something was extra pretty with Elizabeth’s mouth, chin and neck area. Deb just loved her looks in it. I think there is something special when you see the dress on the doll in person
Thanks Laura,
Blessings, Jeanne
So glad you had a nice visit with your sisters free from cleaning up, clearing out and paperwork. You all deserve it. It’s been a difficult year for you all.
I really do think Elizabeth is so gorgeous and she does seem to have a longer neck than most of the AG dolls. And this outfit looks so lovely on her. I keep thinking of her in a beautiful white creation you made. I’m pretty sure it was Elizabeth. That outfit sticks in my mind. Rebecca’s creation is absolutely perfect for the dress. Understated elegance at its best. I love Elizabeth’s hair swept to the side so you can see the back of the Spencer.
I think I finally found the secret to getting my Hibiscus to bloom more. I’m ashamed to admit I have not been watering them enough. Since we’ve been without rain for quite awhile, except for today when we got plenty, I decided I needed to give the few shrubs we have a good watering on a regular basis. Low and behold out pops a bunch of Hibiscus blooms on both bushes. Okay, I admit I’m not a plant person and Hubby used to do he watering until he got involved with the boys in A/C work, so I’ve had to rethink my responsibilities if I wanted to see glorious blooms on my Hibiscus bushes. Definitely worth the effort.
Thank you Barbara,
Elizabeth does seem to have a longer neck…at least my doll does.
Elizabeth modeled 2 different white Regency dresses…I know both of them very well…
I’m so glad you figured out what to do to make your hibiscus bloom..water it more!!
Mine has a bunch of blooms that will soon be opening and I’ll have lots of blooms again.
Thanks Barbara
Blessings ,Jeanne
