She’s Sick of Sorting Stuff in her Sewing Studio…

Yes, she is!!! I never thought I’d hear myself say that, but I’m admitting it now!! Maybe it’s because it isn’t creative enough to sort things out. Maybe it’s because I’ve had too many long days and can’t seem to get my day started until late in the afternoon and sometimes in the evening. Maybe I still have too much stuff…oh wouldn’t Miss “Stephanie” just love to hear me admit that one??? Maybe I’m tired of trying to figure out what to put where…

It doesn’t really matter…I just had to get all these bits and pieces picked up off my floor and put somewhere…

I was trying to group my doe suede fabrics together, sort my velvets, my cotton knits, my flannels, my clothing pieces I’ve purchased at thrift shops and Goodwill to cut up for doll clothes.
I kept finding more spools of thread and I thought I’d already found all my Christmas fabrics.

I used a couple of tubs that fabrics had come out of and just started piling stuff in helter skelter, just so I didn’t have to see it anymore. I’ll sort it out another day!!

I filled in every little cubbyhole on these two bookshelves. It doesn’t look great, but at least it’s off the floor.

Look…the floor!!!

My hubby has no PT Thursday and we got our car back, so it doesn’t have to be picked up. My hope is to have a long day of working in my sewing room and REALLY make some progress.

Just for fun, here is Rebecca giving Simon/Roxy some chicken!!!

Short and simple!!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

I can’t say as I blame you, Jeanne! There comes a time when you just have to get it all out of the way and move on. That time has come for you. It could be, the next time you need something in one of those tubs, you will feel inspired to do some further sorting and refining, but until then, don’t worry about it. It’s time to SEW!!!

What a cute picture of Rebecca with Simon! He’s getting pretty tame, isn’t he?!

  2. Jeanne, I agree with Charlotte, you don’t have to get every little bit of everything put away somewhere before starting to sew! You can put things that you haven’t yet found places for in a separate tub or container, write what they are on top, and do it whenever you have a block of time to do it. The main thing is using what you have bouthgt or collected most recently, which I’m sure is plenty! I love that last picture of your sewing room with the floor in all it’s glory!

Oh gosh, what a sweet picture of Rebecca and Simon! Do you think he is ever going to leave?? I’m not completely sure about that!!

  3. Hi Jeanne,

I trust that today (Thursday) has brought you some fabric joy and progress in a way that has been more than satisfactory and enjoyable for you. Yeah for the fact that you already have the car back and no PT. No doubt you’ll be glad that you’ve had a bigger chunk of time to play as you feel led.

    Blessings.

  4. Before I even opened the blog I was thinking you’d forget how to sew if this kept up. Good for you for drawing the line. Darling picture but Simon is still a wild creature, so be careful of fingers! What beautiful hair Rebecca has in her heritage.

  5. When you say those shelves don’t look great, I see useful. Ultimately, that’s more important than how they look. Your flooring though, that does look great! 😊♥️

  6. Well, at least you know what you have! 🙂 Finding it might be a problem, but that will come with time. Looks like lots of stuff with which to be creative. Don’t buy any more fabric! Ha ha. And on with the show because with all of those supplies, so many cute things can be made. Looking forward to seeing some cute summer outfits before the fall season begins.
Me thinks you will be raccoon parents for some years to come. Does Simon/Roxy like tomatoes? Hope not. 🙂

  7. I’m with everyone else, it’s time to SEW! The summer season is going fast, much as a hate to admit it. July? Already? NO!! I very much doubt that you will need what is still to be sorted immediately and if you spend some creative time it will be easier to do the drudgery of sorting later. You could always commit to , say a 20 minute time block a day, and power sort. If you wait much longer, you will never get Nora to give up that dress. LOL and some little dolly wants it for a summer garden party.
I do know Dale Chihuly glass art, but I am more familiar with the flowers because our hospital has them.

Aww, Simon/Roxy is just adorable. I bet Rebecca is having a blast feeding him, I know I would!! The squirrels in Williamburg and the black squirrels we saw in Quebec were so tame they came right up and took nuts etc. from your hand. You might have him long enough that he has his own kits for you to enjoy. What lovely red hair Rebecca has, and so thick!

  8. Okay, I know it’s not nice to laugh about someone’s difficulties, but I’ve been where you are so many times I just had to laugh. After we remodeled our kitchen I planned on arranging my cabinets just so. I had many more cabinets and drawers than I ever had before and I was sure I’d end up with some empty space. NOT!!!! I even got rid of a lot of things and still not enough room for the way I wanted to arrange things. Same problem in my sewing room. I do the best I can in there because of the space (or lack of) but the more I try to organize, the more things don’t come out as I wish. So, while I’m laughing, just realize there is a big hug for you that goes along with that. Encouragement to never give up.

I saw some members have been to JoAnn’s. I hadn’t been there in ages because I haven’t needed anything, but my hubby’s truck was in the shop the other day and he rode to work with our son (actually both – one taking Dad to meet up with the other). He went home with Sean and I was to pick him up at his house after I returned the grandkids to their mom so she could get them to Karate. But that left me with 1 1/2 hours to kill. I was between Hobby Lobby and JoAnn’s so either was an option, but, since I have been to Hobby Lobby and not JoAnn’s recently, JoAnn’s won. What a surprise I was in for. The whole stock of fat quarters was nearly totally wiped out. The trims I usually buy on spools were few and far between. I could tell there was less fabric because there was more room in the aisles. Anyone know the reason for this? The other day I tried to order something from Germany and my order was refused saying they could not ship to the U.S. because of COVID. Fortunately I found the same thing in California so I did get what I was looking for. Makes me think of the Chinese proverb “May you live in interesting times”. My hubby thinks it’s actually meant to be a curse. I’m sticking to proverb.

I didn’t get to comment yesterday but I have to tell Linda I so enjoyed the beautiful pictures of the botanical gardens. Has anyone ever been to Bellingrath Gardens in Alabama? It took me three years of road trips to finally make it there. I saw a picture on a calendar once and just had to visit. The first road trip the Gardens were closed for renovation. The second road trip they were closed because a hurricane had damaged them, sadly after the renovation. The third road trip I actually made it and it was well worth the wait. Perhaps some day I’ll make it to the ones in St. Louis.

  9. Barbara, no, I have not been there, but my aunt and uncle went there on their honeymoon years and years ago, and I have wanted to visit ever since. I think a wonderful way to spend a vacation, is to visit the pretty botanical gardens that many cities have. I’m not a beach kind, nor do I like casinos, or even city attractions, but I absolutely love visiting gardens and being out in nature. No city girl here!

  10. I understand your frustration Jeanne. I’ve been there before too. All you want to do is create not sort!.
On the up side it has finally stopped raining. Unfortunately I still can’t take the dog for much of a walk this morning because Sam has her Radiotherapy at 9.50! In fact I had better get off the computer and get ready lol.
Look forward to seeing our summer creations.

  11. Oh…it is so late. I agree…put the unsourced items away in your attic and sort the some other time. You have done a fantastic job with your room so far and now it is time to enjoy it and relax a bit in that awesome room! Put Miss Stephanie out of your too busy head and put Jeanne Marie back in there and enjoy all your work!🤗💝😀
