I’m married to my very own Patrick… well sort of. My hubby was born the day before St. Patrick’s Day, so his mom chose Patrick for his middle. A little bit German and a little bit Irish! :o)
My German/Irish hubby needed some help with wiring in Rebecca’s room today. He’s putting in a new outlet for her, so I was in the attic and he was in the basement, using our phones to communicate with each other. It’s something to trust your spouse to make sure you get it right and know that the wires aren’t hot when you go to connect them! :o) We got this… I trust him and he trusts me! :o) We also worked on measuring her windows so we can trim them out. The previous owners never put any trim around any of the windows in this house. We are only 16 years getting to this. Curtains have been up, so there was no “real” hurry. (But it was always something I wanted done) Rebecca wants her room finished from ceiling to flooring, so it’s time! Unfortunately, our trip to Lowe’s was cut short by a rainy day. Oh well, guess I know what tomorrow holds.
Next, I had someone at church ask my hubby if they could call today and find out a few things about my dress business. They are taking a class and needed to get some questions answered by someone with a small business. My hubby said I’d be happy to! Actually, I was a bit flattered, and I enjoyed the 57 minute call very much!
Then someone stopped by with a gift for my hubby…
So, it’s now 7:15 Monday evening, and I haven’t been in my sewing room today. BUT have no fear… Sissy and Linda are here!
To save the day, that is! They both sent me a few pictures of their girls dressed up in pretty green St. Patrick’s Day dresses.
First up is Sissy’s dresses on 16″ Mae, by My Meadow. Sissy’s signature vintage hankie pinafore/aprons are just adorable…
This little cutie is 11″ Giggi, by My Meadow. She’s got on a sweet St. Patrick’s Day dress and apron set too. Thank you Sissy! They are already sold so don’t be looking for them… You’ve missed them. :o(
Next up is Linda’s girls dressed in their St. Patrick’s Day dresses. Oh what eye candy we have here!!! click on the pictures so you can see all the details. :o)
I’d like to thank Sissy and Linda for their sweet “and timely” pictures for today! I hope to get in my sewing room later tonight and see what I can come up for “hair attire!”
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
I’m not even the teeniest tiniest Irish (I’m 100% Swedish, in fact), but I just love all the cute “Irish” dresses on Sissy’s and Linda’s girls!!
I actually do have one or two St. Patrick’s Day hankies–one was a gift years ago, and then just a few years back, I found a duplicate of it, so of course I had to have it, too! They are the only ones I’ve seen for St. Patrick’s Day, but mine are different than the ones Sissy used in her dresses. (I’ve still not been brave enough to cut into any of my pretty hankies, Sissy!)
Linda and I must have similar tastes, because I just love Betsy McCall (I have two of the 14″ and two or three of the 8″), and I also have the little blond American girl wearing Molly’s Christmas dress (green velvet–which I also have) in the bottom picture! I named my blond girl April Eleanore, and when I got her, I took out FOUR of her in the store and lined them up side by side, to get the one I liked the best!! (Now, That is picky!! LOL)
Thanks for sharing the cute pictures!
Well, you get to celebrate St. Lucia’s Day with Kirsten then, Charlotte. My mom was positive she was 100% German until right after Christmas when our 23 and Me tests came back. Turns out she does have some Irish and a bit of other things. She said she asked her mother one St. Patrick’s Day if she had some Irish and my grandmother replied “Honey, I don’t know where you would get it”. LOL I, on the other hand knew I had about a quarter Irish, and I do. You can always be Irish for the day!
Laura, we used to celebrate St. Lucia day when I was a girl. Mom and I would make Lucia buns, and she’d get me up early in the morning on St. Lucia Day (Dec. 13), to serve coffee (dad) and milk (my brother) and the buns for breakfast. In the late 60s and thru the 1970s (possibly later) the church my dad served at the time had an annual Lucia Fest. The Lucia Bride actually got to wear a crown with lighted candles on it! (yes, daddy had wet rags up at the front of the church just in case, but there was never a problem.) I never got to be the Lucia Bride, but my girlfriend Joyce did, one year.

I do have Kirsten’s Lucia stuff, by the way!
Oh Jeanne, you ought to write a book called “A Day in My Life”! That would be a best seller! I think a lot of us live vicariously through you! Never a dull day, is there?
Sissy, what ADORABLE dresses and aprons you made! Such perfect dollies to model them too! The more I see of these darling dolls, the more I want one! You do an exquisite job of making the most adorable(I keep saying adorable) dresses! Such perfect taste! I give you an A+++!
Charlotte, my blonde doll is AG#21, and I named her Susan, one of Molly’s friends in her books. I tired to use all the green dresses I had from AG, so there are all different shades of green!
Oh, I forgot to add, Happy St. Patrick’s Day to everyone!
Sissy’s pinafores are adorable. The first one is my favorite and I finally see the handkerchief used in a way which might inspire me to cut into them.. The dresses 👗 are all made with lovely fabric too.
Linda’s scenes are wonderful with so many details, both in the clothes as well as all the accessories and dogs 🐕. Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone ☘️🍻!
First of all, Happy Birthday to George. Just a few short years ago I had him on my prayer list when he was dealing with cancer, and now he is celebrating another birthday. God is so good.
I enjoyed seeing the dolls in their St. Patrick’s day outfits. So creative. The pinafores made from hankies are really nice. No Irish on either side of my family, so we’ve never really celebrated St. Patrick’s day, but I do like seeing what everyone else is doing to celebrate.
Another March baby. Other person here’s birthday was the 9th. Congrats to George.
Great idea using the phones. When our heating people were installing our new heater a couple of years ago, I found one guy down in the garage at the electrical box and on the phone. I laughed and said, are you requesting help? Nope, talking to his partner in the attic. 🙂
Isolation is pretty boring. We’re on lock down sort of. Especially because we are over 65. Still have to go out to pick up fresh food, and we got out and walked, but otherwise home. Supposed to stay 10ft away from other people. No toilet paper available anywhere yet. Wondering how long it will take to get the stores restocked? Fortunately, we have enough for the present.
Loved seeing Sissy’s cutie and Linda’s girls. Thanks for sharing. Mae and Giggi are adorable in their sweet outfits. And I love Betsy McCall’s pretty dress. Hope everyone’s dollies enjoy a fun day. Poor Ardyn has been patiently awaiting her new dress, but mom still hasn’t finished it. Hoping to get it finished today and get a pic as it is for St. Patrick’s Day. 🙂
Corned beef is in the crock pot so some hours from now, we’ll be celebrating our Irish ancestors and enjoying. Happy day everyone!
Dear Jeanne, thank you for sharing photos of Sissy’s and Linda’s girls. They are adorable.
Happy Birthday to your hubby. I like your story about communicating via cell phones. A hundred years ago, it would have been the two of you hollering up and down the stairs (chuckle).
Speaking of 100 years, this year, we are celebrating the 19th Amendment which was ratified on August 19, 1920. And of course, March is Women’s History Month. So we have many things to celebrate.
Wishing you, and all of the blog family, dolly hugs and safe travels (if you have to leave the house).
Happy St. Patrick’s Day to everyone!!! I am Irish, Scottish and Welsh. I usually just say I’m a Celt. This has always been a special day in my family. My sister was born on March 17th. When we were just the two of us (two more came a few years later) my mom would buy us St. Patrick’s Day dresses. She always made a cake with green frosting. One year she made what was called a 25th Anniversary Cake. It had four layers like a wedding cake. Problem was she frosted the cake while it was still a bit warm and the layers slid around some. It made a hilarious site. I will call my sister later today after the grandkids leave, if I don’t fall asleep from exhaustion. The kids and I will actually be watching some of the “Learn our History” videos. I think they will enjoy them.
I’m not sure if I’ll have tomorrow off, but I know I will need to go to their house Thursday and possibly Friday to stay with them. Their dad has an A/C job and mom is a grocery shopper for HEB so you can imagine how busy she is right now. And the tips she’s getting are better than usual. She said this morning she had to stand in line to get into the store. People are arriving early to deplete the shelves. Good grief! You’d think by now they’d have everything they need. And they’ve been told the grocery stores and pharmacies will remain open.
Happy Birthday to George! And many, many more. March birthdays and anniversaries are a big thing in our family. My one sister was the 17th and another was the 25th. My grandfather was the 26th. Our daughter’s anniversary is the 12th and our son’s is the 26th.
My son told me this morning the grandkid’s school will not reopen until at least April 13th. He will be home with them unless/until a job comes up. But he will be coming out some days to help out on the property (it kills my back to use the lawn spreader so he does that for me) so my sewing days are unpredictable at the moment. Well I will have weekends and no church for awhile which that and lunch with the kids usually takes most of the day on Sunday, so I will try to use my time wisely on those days. I’m usually saying “I can’t believe how fast time is going”. At the moment it seems like every day is a week long. The worst is never knowing when it will end. They just keep adding days to what was previously said.
How fun to have St. Patrick’s Day dresses. Please wish your sister a Happy Birthday form me. I also have Irish, Scottish , and Welsh ancestry.
I think every family has a “popular” month. Ours happens to be May and my birthday is one of those.
Haven’t been to the store or out (other than in the driveway/yard since Friday so I don’t know what the stores are like. My friend/neighbor next door is a nurse so she is still going to work
Hi everyone. I will have to make it a point to get here for one of my “happy fixes” each day.
Oh, Sissy, your hanky dresses are just the most adorable things. I love, love, love the one on Mae. the checked dress and shamrock pinafore topped off by the oversized hairbow. Just my style for little girls and dolls can wear them forever! The pot’o gold basket is the perfect accessory. Do you only make those hanky dresses for Meadow dolls ? I absolutely need to find time to make somehting for one of my PC/AG girls by next year. Life always gets in the way.
As usual, Linda’, your girls are properly attired for the current holiday/season. I just love seeing the scenes you set up and all the cute accessories you have to go along with them. The hats are great and I see the dogs get to participate, too. Betsy looks lovely in her sweet green dress.
I think the only two green doll outfits I have are Felicity’s Riding Habit and Kirsten’s work dress and no one got dressed for St. ,Patrick’s Day or Valentine’s or Christmas for that matter. oh well, one of these days.
Happy Birthday to George, Jeanne. Sorry I forgot to write that. –
Happy St Patrick’s Day ladies!
I took pics of my kids girls in their green sparkly hats but not until today.
They did look cute but it almost did my patience in to get them all standing up and the hats on.
The extra time at home got 2 of my own dolls worked on and dressed. One was a gift from a customers hubby after she passed. She had a head to put on a body that I had repainted. Found the perfect wig and a dress I had kept for years. A repro from France and it was a tad too big but looks so cute. Then an Effanbee compo baby with side glancing eyes that had the infamous Effanbee flaking on her arms. She too got a dress and hat that have been waiting for the right doll. The hat was always too small but I was determined to have it fit so took it apart and opened the back. She looks so sweet. Love vintage compo dolls🤗
Hope everyone has a chance to do something fun with your dolls since we have the “time”
Omgosh…hit something and my post loaded b/4 I could tell Sissy and Linda how pretty their dolls looked,All the green dresses are so cute Linda…those girls are a happy family!
Sissy…the pinafores are the cutest things EVER. I like the hankies as pinafores even better than dresses. You had some awesome hankies too.
Thanks for the pictures!
