A little something dolly related…

I have received a few pictures from some of the ladies who read my blog but I’ve been too preoccupied to get them posted on here. We are scurrying off to St. Louis to a doctor appointment for my hubby, so I only have time to show the pictures from Joy. Joy said her girls were waving goodbye to Santa and the reindeer…

Here is a picture Joy sent of her Ruby Red Fashion Friends girls in their beds made from the boxes they came in. Joy also made their quilts. Aren’t they adorable?

I’ll get the rest of the pictures on here as soon as I can…

Someone think of another question for all of you to discuss.

Thanks everyone,
Blessings, Jeanne

How nice to see a post from you again, Jeanne! I hope George’s appointment went well, and that your mom is doing a bit better.

Joy, I loved seeing your pictures! Your waving girls look a little sad that Santa is leaving.

I haven’t done anything with my Ella’s bed (I decided I preferred Ella for her, rather than Bella)–it’s still in the outer box downstairs! One of these days!! I certainly have enough fabric to make a blanket–or 2000–for her!!

I wanted you all to know that Ron’s incision (pacemaker implanted 12/26) is looking very good, and almost healed up. The steri-strips which held it together are off–the doctor took them off yesterday–and the infection (for which he was on antibiotics for a week) seems to be gone. Ron is still waiting for his energy and stamina to return; I think he is expecting to feel like he did 20 years ago!! LOL He forgets that in less than 2 weeks he will be 87!! (He robbed the cradle…LOL I’m 13 years younger, and in less that 3 weeks *I* will have a birthday, too!)

We so appreciate the many prayers said on his/our behalf throughout this entire ordeal. It is very humbling to know how many people–those we may never see face-to-face–were praying for us.

A happy and blessed new year to all of you!

    1. Dear Charlotte, so glad to hear that Ron’s infection is cleared up! Now his wound is free to heal all the way up. I’m glad he’s doing better and you’ll just have to sit on him to slow him down, LOL. I’m still praying for the both of you! Lots of Love, Ali

  2. Oh, so good to see the blog, Jeanne, even if it is a short one! You always make my day start on a good note, and I miss you when you aren’t here! I[m not sure if you are back from the doctor’s or will go today, but boy, you might need a boat to get back home with all the rain predicted!

I am still, yes, still, taking down Christmas decorations, and taking my merry old time about it. I am also culling through my decorations, and throwing out things I know I will never use, but keep storing. I need space for newer things!

Oh Joy, you dollies look so sad to see Santa leave to go back to the North Pole! Darling! Your Ruby Red Fashion Friends look so comfy in their new beds! What cute quilts! Are those the AG Elf on the Shelf’s they are holding?

I need to get going to go to the grocery store before I need a boat to do so. We are expecting 4 inches of rain here in the next two days! Happy New Year to all of you, and I hope everyone stays in good health! How are you injuries doing, Jeanne? I certainly hope yo are doing a lot better by now!

  3. Oh my, starring the girls from CA. Thank you Jeanne. Certainly wasn’t expecting this.
Hope you have a safe trip to St. Louis and all checks out okay for George.

Glad to hear from Charlotte that Ron is on the mend. Also think her new Ella aka Bella would love a sleeping bag as well as a quilt. Thinking warm this morning as we have frost. Burr.

Good for you Linda. Had we even gotten out the decorations this year, there would be a lot tossed in the garage sale box. Definitely need to weed things out around here.

The Elf on the Shelf minis are not American Girl, but are from Elf on the Shelf and called Mini Plushee Pals. The ones pictured are all that have been produced as of now, but I suspect there will be more next year. They are the perfect size for all of my dolly friends. 🙂

I’ve seen several Renwal books but wondering which is the one that lists all of the furniture made? Funny, but I can remember all of the baby room stuff that I had, but not the color of the kitchen or living room furniture. Funny how memories work.

Looking forward to seeing everyone else’s photos. Hope the weather cooperates for everyone here and wishing for rain in Australia.

    1. Joy, I have the one that lists all the Renwal furniture made, it is very detailed. It is called “Renwal, Worlds Finest Toys”, by Charles Donovan, Jr. It has the history of every known dollhouse furniture product and a detailed guide to price values by item and variation. All pictures are in color, and mine was produced in 2008, so pretty current as values go, although not up to date as it could be. I got it off EBay, and it is listed at $24.95, but I plaid nothing like that! Maybe $10.50 or so. I really enjoy looking it over and have learned a lot!

Dear Jeanne, hello. Thanks for continuing to post even though you have much on your plate right now.

Joy’s girls from CA are adorable. I love their sweet outfits.

I am glad that Charlotte’s husband is on the mend.

Here is a question I asked a while back but it was at the end of the postings so only one person saw it:

Question: What are folks doing to celebrate World Doll Day on June 13, 2020?

  5. What a nice post today. Thanks for posting when you can and as much as you can. Joy’s girls are so adorable. Tell them not to worry, Christmas will be here in another week or two. Or that’s what it seems like sometimes. But probably not to a child. I love the bedding for the Fashion Friends. Very nice. I now have two and so have two beds. I’m waiting to get the third and then I’ll think about some bedding so they can have a sleepover. Arabella tried bungie jumping off the table yesterday without a bungie cord. She said Sara Anne pushed her – and then they both laughed. She was checked out thoroughly and is doing fine.

I’m praying for your family every day, Jeanne, and hope that things are better soon.

Charlotte, I’m glad to hear that Ron is doing well. At 87 years young he has a lot of life left in him, especially now. We have a friend who will be 103 this year and she takes a walk around the block every day. She lives with her daughter now but lived on her own until she was 99. Drove until she was 98 then she fell and the doctors didn’t pay attention to her neck and it didn’t heal properly. She has some help with bathing and dressing in the morning, but is still mentally sharp as a tack.

Dorothy in PA and the World I’m going to have to do some research to see if anything is going on around here and if I can get to it if it is. If not, I think the girls and I will have a big celebration of dolly life. I have a New Year’s Eve animated fireworks thing that sets on a table. So I think we’ll have fireworks. And cake. Definitely an excuse for cake.

    1. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Barbara, oh yes, you must have fireworks! I like the phrase, “a big celebration of dolly life.”

I will be sure to send Jeanne photos of our Doll Club luncheon, which I am chairing, which will be on World Doll Day. We will have cake too!

  6. I’m so so glad to see Joy’s dolls. I see you also have the screen we saw on the blog. Maybe it was you who sent me to Michaels to buy one. Love the idea of the beds, so cute. I’ll make one for my Bella doll.

I have a Disney tin dollhouse that I filled with Renwal things from eBay. I get these obsessions and then on to the next. It never has gotten as far as my granddaughter and now she’s not even interested in dolls at ten years of age. We’re doing an inverse relationship with toys given our ages. I have the book, too. Thanks for bringing the subject up in the blog. I copied that part of the Comments to check them out later.

I may never get on another plane as long as I live. The last three times I’ve gotten awful upper respiratory illnesses. Hope everyone gets and stays well. Thanks for the blog, Jeanne. Hope things are working out.

    1. Oh Susette, I would love to see your Renwal furniture. I think the house and furniture would be a lovely accent piece and sure to bring lots of smiles to guests. 🙂
It was Jeanne that found the screen. She ended up getting two so I bought one from her as we didn’t have anything like it in the stores here. I really should use it more often.
Thanks about sharing the plane experience too. I haven’t flown in a long time and now with so little seat room, I’m not so sure I can do it without paying for an upgrade not that the whole plane doesn’t breathe the same air though. I just need some space and not be on top of the person next to me even though I’m not a huge. 🙂

    2. Hubby and I don’t fly. I used to fly up to see my family in Delaware, but after getting married and having children, we always drove. Even once to Nova Scotia. We stopped to see friends in Louisiana and Alexandria, VA, and family in Delaware on the way, and visited Boston then on to N.S. It was a three week trip and I enjoyed it. Not so sure about the rest. But in 2002 David and I flew to Hawaii. A couple weeks later he came down with a horrible case of pneumonia. I know it was from the plane. It acted like Legionnaire’s disease. It was pretty scary.

  7. I hope George’s appointment went well, Jeanne, and your mom is doing a bit better.
Joy, your dollies are so cute. I agree, they do look a bit sad to see Santa leave, but I’m sure he brought them many lovely gifts as they are such good girls.
They look warm and toasty snuggled down in their beds. We are going to break a record set back in 1890, I think. It’s going to be 65 degrees tomorrow, 65 in Ohio in January! Been a strange winter so far.

  8. Hi Jeanne,
It’s good to see a new post even if it’s a quicky. I hope all is well with you, your mom and George as well. Thank you for sharing Joys sweet photo’s. I loved them. Continued prayers. Hugs Ingrid
Joy your girls are all adorable! Thank you so much for sharing. I threw Sara’s box away, now I wish I’d kept it after seeing how cute your beds are.
Charlotte, I’m so happy to read your husband is finished with his antibiotics and had his steri-strips removed. Better days are ahead I’m sure.
I’m a little jealous, everyone seems to have had or has a doll house. I love the thought of tiny furniture and decorating tiny little rooms. Sounds like so much fun.. I think I’m missing out! I have in the last few weeks been shopping for doll furniture for my little darling girls and my meadow dumpling. I found a Muffy Vanderbear bed that I think will work nicely. I think I may paint it white not sure yet.
Dorothy, I’m with Barbara… celebrating with cake sounds like a wonderful idea. I love cake, frosting not so much. Maybe zucchini bread and sweet butter instead of cake! yum
Barbara, Very funny! Your girls bungee jumping hahaha Very happy to hear no injuries occurred.
Susette, nearly every time we fly I end up with “something”, recycled air stinks! Not to mention nothing is disinfected between flights. Those tray tables are gross!
Almost forgot Happy Friday…. almost Saturday now 🙂
    Stay warm.. Dry
    Cheers
    Ingrid

    1. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Ingrid, you can send me your cake icing. I love icing! My favorite is traditional wedding cake: white cake, white icing.

I hope that folks do plan celebrations at home and all around for World Doll Day. It’s a wonderful opportunity to highlight our love of dolls and to have a little fun too.

  9. Currently I am battling a bad case of Chronic Blepharitis in my eyelids. It comes and goes as it wants with no warning even with daily and medication. It really blurs my vision and even with glasses it’s difficult to read. It literally has taken 15 minutes just to type this and impossible to read what is posted without straining. Sorry that I can’t reply to all that was said.

Jeanne keeping you and your family in my thoughts. Hope all is going well with your mother and that your foot is healing. Hope everyone here is well and enjoying the new year.
    Blessings.

  10. Jeanne, I hope George’s appt. goes very well, that your Mom is better and your foot nearly healed. Sorry about your eyesight, Sandra, what an aggravation that sounds like. Ugh. And Susette, I hope you get over that awful Airplane Flu really fast!!! I used to get sick every single time I had to fly, but thankfully, it seemed to always be on my return flights, so that at least my visits weren’t ruined.

Dorothy, World Doll Day is not something many of us celebrate when we are just us at home, which many of us are. With an organization that did it, I imagine it would be easier. I used to post Happy World Doll Day on my Doll Groups, but that’s about it. I’ll live it through your Doll Club celebration this year! : )

Joy, I just LOVED all your photos!! Love the Meadow kids and both the girls are precious! Dressed so cute, too!! My Sara wants me to make her a bed now that she’s seen yours! What a great job you did!!! I love these kids, too! I’ve found one person that is sewing for her and need to find more! She says she needs it ALL, lol. Thanks so much for sharing all your photos with Jeanne and with us!!
Love and Big Hugs to all,
    Ali

  11. We check in every day and we don’t need doll talk right now,we just want an update on your Mom, you and George. We all hope things are better,Have a good day!
    Take Care,
    Sylvia
