A little piano music from Deb…

Hi everyone,
Things are still a bit of a roller coaster with my mom, but in the midst of it all, I have something nice to share with everyone.

My sister, Deb, has released some music on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, TikTok, Google Play/YouTube, Amazon, Pandora, Deezer, Tidal, Napster, and iheartradio. Follow these YouTube links to hear her music.

You can find more of her music by searching for Debra Buesking. I’m SO proud of her!!!

The first link is actually a song she released around Christmas, but I think you’ll still enjoy it. It’s called “Christmas Time is Here.”

Her cover picture is of me, Cindy and Bob when we were stationed in Italy.

The second song is “I Wonder As I Wander.”

She’s going to release another song, called “Lament” on January 17th. I’ve heard the preview and it’s beautiful.

Enjoy these songs and more if you like. You can even subscribe to her YouTube channel to hear her newest songs. I just subscribed so I can listen to them anytime I want!

Again, search for Debra Buesking…

I’ll be back when I can…

Blessings, Jeanne

How lovely! Thanks for sharing, Jeanne.

Keeping you and your family (esp. your mom) in my prayers.

  2. Love the picture, Jeanne! Listening to music on the internet is not something I can do, because of my hearing, or lack of it, but I’m sure it is wonderful! That picture of your family tugs my heart, and makes me want to go back to being a little girl and experiencing the magic of Christmas! Thank you for that!
Thinking of you, Jeanne, and praying that everything turns out as well as it can for you dear mother and all of you..

  3. Jeanne. I am right there with you with a poorly mom. She’s in a hospital in Grand Forks ND. My son rushed me up here from S Minnesota on Friday because we thought she was going to have surgery. Nope, no surgery has happened. In fact her diagnosis seems to be changing daily. My brother is on top of all this as he has access to all their medical records online. He has also gone along to Dr appointments. Whatever happens, I am going to be my moms caretaker for the foreseeable future. She’s 88 dad is 89. They live in their own home and have done very well up to now. Once my mom is home tho they will need a bit more help so that is me. Glad I can just drop everything and be available.

  4. I’m not sure if anyone is looking back on the last post, but Joy and Laura did mention that they did not know I bought Renwal furniture for my tin dollhouse. They have it on EBay! I bought my dollhouse with no furniture, and wanted to recreate what I had when small, so bought everything I needed on EBay. I did have a few pieces from my childhood, but they were either discolored or broken, so out they went.

  5. Love the cover photo. Wouldn’t that be cute framed and displayed at holiday time in a sweet little frame?
Hope your mom is comfortable and happy. I’m sure knowing her family is close by helps. Thinking of you and hoping you too are on the mend.
    Debra is so gifted. Wonderful.
Sorry to hear about Julia’s mother. It might be wise to be added on to the medical records access especially if you will be the caregiver for mom. I did that with my dad. It is wonderful that you are available to help your parents, but remember to take care of yourself too. Thinking of you.
I have been drooling over the Renwal on ebay for years. I would love to see Linda’s. I however, want my furniture back. Not sure how to get it from my now 80 year old cousin who I believe was the recipient. Still working on that one. 🙂
I can’t believe that a new dolly is due here on Thursday. She’s a biggie at 18″. 🙂

  6. Hope the roller coaster smooths out for all of you this week. Glad you have siblings to help make decisions. How are you doing? Ankle? Wrist?
Almost have everything de-christmased. Thank goodness for Grandson Jack who helped mate the Hallmark ornaments into the right boxes, runs boxes up and down stairs and manhandled the big tree all by himself! We so appreciate him and he appreciates my hubby filling his tank and taking his car thru the carwash :0)
going to undress the Dolls from Holiday to something normal maybe this afternoon
    Have a good week everyone

  7. Hi Jeanne, So glad to hear you check in. Hope things get better soon. Thank you for the links to the music, I will listen soon. I really love the song “I Wonder as I Wander”. The album cover is just perfect!
So sorry to hear about your mother, Julia. Being a caretaker is hard, so take time for your when you can.
As Linda mentioned there is a lot of Renwal furniture etc. on eBay. It’s actually how I helped my mom find the name of hers. Look as the adorable illustration on this box. This set is brand new. My mom has this exact set minus the smaller buffet table.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-1950S-RENWAL-JOLLY-TWINS-PLASTIC-FURNITURE-DINING-ROOM-SET-UNUSED-OSS/123999257929?hash=item1cdeee8549:g:A-0AAOSwGzNd59rA and wow, this little stool that she has goes for $15. Of course, we’ll not sell it.
What I find fun is that the same pieces came in different colors. My mom’s sofa is red, the big armed chair is blue and the tufted Queen Anne chair is cream, but I’ve seen them is different combinations
My dollhouse in the 1970’s was metal as well, but it was filled with Fisher Price Little People and furniture. I have my Little People village , school etc and the people and furniture, but the dollhouse is gone.
My daughter had a wooden dollhouse ( still have ) filled with Playmobil. I loved that the Playmobil people could really hold things. She was teh one to eventually want to get rid of some of it, but I confiscated it from the trash and now my dolls can play with it. It’s perfectly sized for them. 😉

    1. How fun to see all the Renwal furniture on e-bay… I did not know it was there either. I still have my tin doll house and what is left of furniture, including this dining room set. Maybe! one chair has all it’s legs! My favorite piece is the treadle sewing machine with the wheel that goes around and raises and lowers the needle. The drawers open and close and the machine can be lowered into its case. It’s an amazing piece of design. I remember finding new furniture in my Christmas stocking! and drooling over the counters of accessories at the “dime store.”

      1. I still have the sewing machine and picked up another at a garage sale a few years ago. I loved it and the little drawers that opened. Oh so many memories. 🙂

        1. Hi Joy, I looked up the sewing machine. There are a number in different primary colors and they are so cute. Love that the drawers open. My grandmother had a real treadle sewing machine ( sadly it was one of the things lost) that was wrought iron and wood. It’s actually what she taught me to sew on because the needle couldn’t run away with you. I’d love to get another one someday.

  8. One more comment.
Dear Linda, you might like this to buy or borrow.. https://www.ebay.com/itm/SHIPS-FREE-RENWAL-PICTURE-BOOK-Vintage-Miniature-Dollhouse-Furniture-Ideal/113952778528?hash=item1a881d6920:g:ScQAAOSwO7VaT~nI:sc:USPSFirstClass!43015!US!-1 The baby my mom has is second from left.
I’m going to see if ours or another library has this to look at. I also saw a Renwal washer machine and mangle. It’s a bid, so I can’t post the link. There also is a pink bathroom, also a bid, ( my mom’s is cream) . I love the pink bathroom because my grandparents house had a pink and gray bathroom. The wallpaper, carpet, paint etc. got updated a few times from 1950 when they moved from the earlier house until 1982 when my grandmother died, but that pink and gray bath never changed. I loved it as a child visiting. The pink tub made you feel like a princess. There were even pink towel with white flowers and pink TP LOL.

I had most of the pieces in this picture: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Renwal-Bedroom-Baby-Crib-Dollhouse-Doll-House-Plastic-Furniture-Lot/333466101170?_trkparms=aid%3D1110001%26algo%3DSPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D20160323102634%26meid%3D55d01f053c984bd492e0034151cf5be8%26pid%3D100623%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D303333287384%26itm%3D333466101170%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2047675&_trksid=p2047675.c100623.m-1 I particularly remember the little dressing table, shown here in yellow, but I think mine was brown.

I loved my tin dollhouse and plastic furniture, and played with it a lot when I was little! It was one of the things we got rid of when we made the Big Move from the U.P. to Seattle.

    2. Laura, that book would be interesting! I do have a book about Renewal furniture, that shows every piece that was made, and is oh, so full of information and pictures! I have all those pieces you are talking about, the wringer washer, the stool, and then some things like the sewing machine that closes up, the step trash can, a baby grand piano too! I will try to send some pictures to Jeanne, that maybe she can use for the blog. My dollhouse is a Playsteel house, and was all wrapped in cellophane with a big bow on top, and was one of the best presents I ever had!

Charlotte, my dressing table was brown too!

      1. Linda, my mom has a baby grand as well, she had to have a piano as at age four she was taking lessons from a neighborhood lady. My mom still remembers that she and my grandmother walked a mile between going and coming back. They only had one car as most people did in the 1940’s and, of course, my grandfather had it at work.
I had to look up Playsteel dollhouses and wow, they are neat with decorated rooms.
        Here’s a link I found.
        https://hookedonhouses.net/2016/01/13/my-new-old-dollhouse/

I think you may have sent some pictures in the past, but not sure if they were closeups or if the house was in the background of an AG scene. I’d love to see closeups.
They must have come from Woolworth’s. I used to go in the Woolworth’s at the mall often as a teen. It was where you bought Goody hair accessories and candy etc. My daughter even got a chance to go in one a number of times before they closed. We had a privately own 5 and 10 in town for many, many years until the owner retired. It was always so much fun to wander through, especially at Christmastime.

**** For those that were hoping to see the dollhouse my grandfather made, I’m working on it. I think Joy, Linda, and Ingrid commented on that. I got it off the table and on the floor now. I sadly saw that part of the window frame of one front window is missing, need to see where the pieces fell off. I’ll try to get the furniture into it this weekend and take a few pictures, Unfortunately, I can’t get to the area and scatter rugs right now as they are in the cedar chest for safekeeping and I don’t have the time to unpack part of it and look for them. The pictures will be lousy since in is in the basement, but you’ll get the idea and I’ll try for better ones later on.

        1. Oh, so looking forward to seeing the house. Hope you can find the window frame. It must be so special. I loved seeing the houses on “hooked on houses”. I’ll have to see if I can locate the one I have as I’m not sure where I put it. Bad me.

        2. Hi Laura,
Yes I would love to see the doll house your grandfather made. What fun you must have had playing dolls

        3. Yes, Laura, that is my Playsteel dollhouse, with the pretty red shutters! You mentioned that I have sent pictures of my dollhouse, but that was my other dollhouse, the wooden one, that was given to me by my mother, and is now in my doll room. By the time I got the tin dollhouse, there was no room for it upstairs, so downstairs it went in the laundry room! I do have some pictures of it, but they were taken before I got everything that I have now, so new pictures will have to be taken.
So excited to see your dollhouse that your grandfather made for you!

          1. Oh, now I do recall the dollhouse you showed was wooden. Yes, new pictures are definitely in order of your dollhouse and all the furnishings. I’m sure you’ll be changing the dolls for Valentine’s so also. Need to see photos of that as well. 🙂 I love all the little scenes you set up. Somehow, I never manage to to do the things I have planned, mine seems to be a “someday” collection. My dolls stand on a shelf and I live vicariously through others.

  9. Jeanne your sister is truly gifted. Her touch is amazing and her playing is so expressive. I could listen to it for hours.

I sent you my dolly Christmas Day pictures. The girls were all getting so antsy to get out of their fancy clothes. I wasn’t sure I could keep them in them long enough to get everything set up. They can’t wait for me to make them fancy clothes and then they fuss to be let out of the confines of them. I will start tending to that this afternoon. Then maybe I can get some sewing done soon. Believe it or not I have to mow the lawn tomorrow. The grass is not growing but some kind of weed is so prolific it looks awful. We use weed and feed but I think I’d better check the package again. I swear it must say feed the weeds.

Another winter where we don’t seem to be able to get a hard freeze. It was colder in November than it is now. But it’s not the end of March yet so there is still hope and a lot of cold air bottled up in Canada and Siberia. Just need the right position of the jet stream.

How are you doing? You haven’t mentioned anything lately.

    1. Yes, Barbara, we have the same debunk package. Our weeds keep growing and nothing else appears. 🙂

  10. Hi Barbara,
Feed the weeds, now that’s a good one. I want to amke a couple with sayings I saw. One is “Free Weeds, Pick your own” and the other is “Ring bell, if no one answers, weed garden”. It has a bell attached to the sign, so if you’re inside you probably don’t hear it and will get free weeding.
I also like the sweet signs I’ve seen with things like, Fairy’s Crossing, Bumblebee crossing, or Ladybug Crossing and , for winter, “Shhh, the garden is sleeping”.

    1. I’d try that “free weeds, pick your own” if I thought it would work. If I get behind in the weeding of my front flower garden I have people stop by and offer to help. But never for free. I wish. I like the sweet signs. Unfortunately I’m not a native to Texas so gardening here has always eluded me. We can’t grow what my parents grew while I as growing up and the weed problem is prolific. No matter what prep you do, somehow they always manage to take over. For a couple years I had a beautiful English country garden. Then I started notice they were all dying and I couldn’t figure out why. Moles. They ate the roots of every plant. They are everywhere here and, since we’re rural, there is really no way to stop them that we’ve come up with yet.

      1. Hi Barbara, I think I mentioned it before, but my grandmother was born and grew up on a farm in Texas. When she married my grandfather and moved to Ohio she brought a few cuttings on the plane with her, oleander, crepe myrtle, and trumpet creeper with her. I remember the oleanders on the patio in huge pots that had to be dragged into the greenhouse at the first cold spell.
Texas has some lovely native flowers. I recall seeing the fields of bluebonnets ( I love blue flowers) , Indian paintbrush, and Indian blanket. I need to check out if bluebonnets would grow here in Ohio. They are related to lupines which I have grown successfully.

  11. Hi Jeanne,
Your sister plays beautifully. You are all talented in one way or another. I wish I was musical but alas no such luck! I pray you are feeling better each day. Hoping you sweet mama finds comfort in the family around her.
    Hugs
    Ingrid
