I received this link from a friend of mine… thanks Joy (Carter) My favorite part was the lace being added to Sophie’s puffed sleeves. I think if I weren’t a seamstress, I might like to be a cake decorator… I could get my fill of “embellishing” doing this! :o)

I also received this short explanation about the Ruby Red Friends dolls from Theresa. I’m so glad I have people who fill me in on the latest things happening in the doll world….
“Hi Jeanne – I just wanted to make a clarification about these new dolls, as I read on the Our Little Darlings website. Ruby Red Fashion Friends is a separate company from Ruby Red Galleria, and is based in Tennessee. Ruby Red Fashion Friends has the dolls produced by Leannie, which is the parent company of Ruby Red Galleria. So if you go to the Ruby Red Galleria website, you won’t find these Ruby Red Fashion Friends. And I confess, I got butterfingers when I saw the dolls on Our Little Darlings – Hanna came to my house last week… 🙂 And I had sworn off any new dolls since I retired in August… so much for that.
Blessings, Theresa”
She isn’t Joy’s doll, but Joy sent me a picture she saw of a Paola Reina doll painted and re-wigged by Lana Dobbs. (She painted Ten Ping and Emmie, my Little Darling.) Lana does incredible work…as you can see!
I wanted to finish Patsy’s dress set today, but I have something in mind, and I don’t have what I need, so I’ll be making a trip to town with the hope that I can find what I’m looking for. :o) It was a “non-sewing” day for me today… How about you? Anyone get any sewing done?
Sorry this is so short, but some days it’s not as exciting as featuring bulletproof vests or new dolls! :o)
Hope you’ll come back tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Wow, that cake-decorating video was really something! I’ve done a little cake decorating, back in the day, but I’ve never tried fondant (which I think is what they rolled out and put over the frosted cake). It was fascinating, how they were able to create so many different looks!!
As to the Ruby Red Fashion Friends, I, too, have Bella heading my way…or maybe it was Hanna…I really debated between the two, back and forth!! Stay tuned….
Joy’s redone Paolo Reina doll is so sweet!! Thanks for sharing the picture!
Off to bed with me, or I’ll be in no shape to go to Bible study in the moring!
I got some sewing done yesterday. I’m bouncing around between 2.5 projects. One is new construction, one is a remodel, and the .5 is something I’ve cut out one piece front and back plus linings. Its pretty slow going because the new construction has required a LOT of ripping out seams and do overs.
Sounds like me, Julia! I usually have several things going at once, too!
Dear Jeanne, thanks for these updates.
Can you believe Christmas is about 1 month away? I have bought absolutely nothing. I have done absolutely no decorating. My girls are rolling their eyes as if to say, “when Mama, when?” I HAVE been watching the Hallmark Channel so I am getting my fill of Christmas and love (laugh).
We are doing a Holiday Swap (Secret Santa) on the Little Darling ning site, which I am helping to coordinate. That’s big fun. The theme is Star Shine.
Happy Non-sewing Day!
The Paola Reina Doll was painted by Lana, but Ricky (Little Darlings facebook) rewigged her. I believe he said there was a buzz cut underneath the lovely new wig, and Lana painted directly on the existing eyes. It amazes me there can be such a transformation from ordinary to super.
I’ll have to check out the cake video later. Sounds interesting.
Loved hearing from Theresa about Fashion Friends. I talked with Ruby Red Galleria when I asked if some shoes would fit my new girls. One of their dolls is the same size and the shoes for her will fit. Takes awhile though to arrive from them. I’ve purchased some shoes from JuJu’s Dolly Mall on ebay, size 58mm which fit very well in case anyone needs shoes other than Glitter Girls. The 58mm are just large enough for a sock/tights or can be worn without. They arrive promptly too. No advertising cut here, but just search for 58mm doll shoes and they will come up.
After dark last night, Hanna’s new friend Sara arrived. Poor mail people are doing more than one route. Anyway, I pulled her from the box and introduced her and went off to finish making dinner. This morning, I noticed that the protective tissue band was still on her neck. Poor thing was quite relieved to have it removed. Didn’t see it in the dim light. And now we have two box beds that need decorating attention. I can’t even imagine what Jeanne might do with them.
I’m sure you will enjoy your town trip today. Joann’s has some great sales going on right now. 🙂 I ended up there a couple of days ago and picked up some lovely plaid storage boxes. Retro picnic cooler like plaid. So cute. Have fun. 🙂
Amazing cake decorating video. I tried doing a clown cake once. I have absolutely no patience for that sort of thing. I got so annoyed using the pastry bag and tip that I just took a spatula and spread the frosting instead of doing what they showed. Problem is the cake had crumbs on it so the clown ended up with freckles.
My granddaughter would love this cake. She’s not big on dolls (so sad) but she does love all the Disney characters and the things that feature them. She came to church Sunday dressed as Anna from “Frozen”. Someone gave her the costume and it is a nice one. She even had on the knitted hat with braids. It was a bit warm for it on Sunday but Anna wears one so she had to wear it. Awhile back she showed up regularly dressed as Elsa. While she doesn’t play with dolls, she has all the Build-A-Bear “Frozen” animals and wants the new Anna bear for Christmas. My cousins oldest granddaughter wore nothing but Disney princess dresses when she was little. Her mom was over the moon when she passed that phase.
I belong to the Little Darling Facebook page but forget to check in regularly. That’s why I didn’t know about the FF dolls until Joy mentioned it. When I did check in I saw all the things on them. They are becoming very popular. I also saw some of the most beautiful Little Darling dolls and outfits, most out of my price range but I love to look.
As for sewing, well maybe today. I went into my sewing room yesterday and decided to do some pattern organizing before I began. I had printed out several patterns and they were still lying in a stack One of them I need for my 18″ Gracie’s Christmas dress. I keep my smaller doll patterns in loose-leaf binders. Lately the patterns are not lying flat and I thought it was the fault of the sheet protectors. Maybe they were smaller than usual. Then I discovered it’s my paper. It’s a smidgen wider than 8 1/2 inches. So I got out my paper cutter and trimmed them so they would fit flatter, otherwise they take up a lot of space in the binder. I’ve used up that paper and hopefully the new stuff won’t be a problem.
The Paola Reina doll painted by Lana Dobbs is absolutely gorgeous. How do you get the artists to paint other dolls? They usually seem so busy just doing pre-ordered dolls that I figured they wouldn’t have time for more for anything more.
I’m amazed at the Paola Reina dolls eyes…they were painted over the existing ones….that is hard to believe but so wonderful! Thanks Joy.
I can’t wait for my Fashion Friends..she will be here soon and I don’t have time to make her anything for Christmas.
I will share pictures though. Thanks for that explanation Theresa…so are the 2 companies connected at all?
So what is it you need to go to town to find Jeanne? Curious minds will be checking for sure.
Our Joanne Fabric Store was recently enlarged…so nice to be able to shop and not be on top of each other. I didn’t even make it around the whole store.
Have fun shopping
Well, my goodness, where have I been? Not sewing, but dressing my dolls for their nutcracker scene! I also dressed two dolls to be watching the ballet, so that means I had 6 dolls to change and dress and now put away what they were wearing before!
I did make beef burgundy in my crockpot, which is cooking nicely and smells so good!
Oh my goodness, that cake! Now really, I think if I did make something like that, would I have the heart to cut it up and eat it? They did an amazing job with it, and I think it would be a fun thing to do, but that fondant would do me in if I ate a piece! But all in all, it was so interesting to see how they do it!
That is a sweet little doll you have featured, Jeanne, and she looks like what your big girl
Rebecca would have looked like as a little girl! It amazes me to see how some people can so delicately paint those sweet doll faces!
I’m looking forward to see pictures of everyone’s FF dolls, and hear what they think of them. Now back to putting doll clothes away, and looking forward to seeing what Jeanne cooks up for Patsy.
I often mention the blog bringing back memories. Well, I used to make the boys’ birthday cakes. The one I remember the best had a pirate ship on the top and the sails were lit on fire when the candles were blown out with me holding the video camera and not realizing what was happening! Great excitement!
The other cake memory is from this October when I visited Texas for Krish’s birthday. He had a Minions Cake that was decorated by a professional cake maker who operates out of a little building built especially for her business beside her lovely home in acres of land in the middle of subdivisions in Cypress, Texas. You don’t want to know how much that cake cost, but Mommy is an anesthesiologist and can afford it. Times have changed! Krish wore the planet fabric pattern shirt I made for him. So glad I made a bigger one as the smaller size wouldn’t have fit him. Got most of the way finished and realized I’d used the wrong pattern size. The other one went to one of my daughter-in-law’s friends.
