Forgive me… I have sinned…

I bet the first thing you’re going to think is “Oh, I bet Jeanne’s finger slipped on the computer and she ordered one of those Ruby Red Galleria Friends dolls.” Well, not quite… my sin wasn’t THAT big… It’s just that I told you I was hopefully going to be sewing today and that’s where the sinning comes in… I went shopping instead. :o) Rebecca decided today she wanted to go shopping down in Paducah, Kentucky; about an hour away from here. My hubby wasn’t feeling great… (he’s got the crud) so we decided to go by ourselves. We were up and ready to go at 9:00 and we didn’t get home until after 9:00 this evening… We gave new meaning to the phrase, “Shop till you drop!”

Rebecca just got a job promotion at the hospital. :o) She’s going to be one of the supervisors and she needed some new clothes. She doesn’t have to wear a uniform anymore and she’s very excited!! She was looking for dress pants and button up shirts/tops and cardigan sweaters. We hit as many stores as we could and she found lots of nice things that I think will work. She starts her new position Monday.

Okay, so now I just wanted to share a few things about yesterday’s post…

~ First of all, Linda, I discovered from Joy that the Ruby Red Galleria dolls are 14.5″ tall, (not 13.5″ as I mentioned!)

~ Yes, Julia, we put down our flooring by ourselves… It took us several weeks to get it prepped and then the flooring laid. I did a post on it and you can see it in this link. The business gave us 10% off for putting this post on their Facebook page. We could not be happier as our house is an 1892 fixer upper and I DO MEAN FIXER UPPER! The floors were uneven and sloping and regular click and lock planks just didn’t fill in all the imperfections. When we discovered this vinyl plank flooring, it was incredible… I called my post, “Perfect Flooring for Imperfect Floors.”

You can read that post and see the many pictures, here… Perfect Flooring for Imperfect Floors.

~ Oh, and yes, Julia, Cindy and Deb are my sisters… who are decorators EXTRAORDINAIRE!

~ Dorothy, that IS the couch we all sit on and visit with each other!! It was my mom’s, in her apartment, before she had to move.

~ If you missed the video on the new dolls from Ruby Red Galleria, you might want to read the comments below but then check out the video for yourself… you can see it HERE.

~ Okay, now according to all my “calculations” it seems that Joy received Hanna, her Ruby Red Galleria doll, but decided she needed a sister, so Sara is coming soon! You’re TOO funny, Joy!

~ It also might be that Charlotte is slotted to get one of the Ruby Red Galleria dolls as she is “stalking that adorable video!” I don’t blame her!

~ I even sensed that Linda might have a “finger slip.” :o)

~ Sophie is expecting Bella… :o)

~ Vicki said Bella was Out for Delivery, so I’m guessing she has arrived by now… I’m sure Vicki hasn’t gotten anything done since she arrived! :o)

~ Dorothy “might” be getting a new doll, (Could it be a Ruby Red Galleria Gal?) …but she’s going to take some time and think about it until the beginning of the new year! :o)

~ Susette decided on Bella too… that auburn hair and green eyes sucked her in! :o)

~ Barbara was smitten by Bella and ordered her too…AND she arrived TODAY! I love how Barbara said, “she guessed her plans for the day would have to change…” It ALWAYS does when a new dolly arrives!

Okay, so am I out of the dog house with all this good news about dolls being shipped to everyone? My intention was to make your Saturday Smile start sooner than it would have with just an “ordinary” post! Maybe I can sew tomorrow! ( I do have to fix a bullet proof vest for a policeman!) That sounds interesting, doesn’t it?

I’ll see you Monday!
Have a great weekend!
Blessings, Jeanne

First of all, big congratulations to Rebecca on her promotion!! You can tell her she has a bunch of “blog aunties” who are all really proud of her!!

Sounds like you had a really productive day of shopping! What fun. My best friend goes shopping (Birch Run outlet mall in Mich.) with her daughter once a year. Wish I had a daughter to go shopping with…..I don’t think my son would be too willing…LOL

Well, yes, MY finger seems to have slipped, also (my, we all seem to have slippery fingers, don’t we?!), and Bella will be coming to my house, too! I also like Hanna, and was really debating, but I have a fondness for red/auburn hair, so…..

Of course, my birthday is in January, so you never know!!!

    1. Hi Charlotte,
I just KNEW you were going to get a girl!!! I think Bella is adorable and you are going to be such a great mom to her!!
      Congatulations!!!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Oh Jeanne, yesterday’s blog was a hoot!! You really have a fun group reading your blog, and just think of the good times we would all have if we met up in one place–your living room–to share an afternoon! I was thoroughly entertained!

Congratulations to Rebecca! She is so deserving, and it looks like she is on her way up! If she is anything like her mother and father, she will go far no matter what she does, and have a lot of friends too! I’m so glad she found her niche!

As far as you sinning, I don’t think shopping males the cut as an actual sin!! That was so nice that you were able to go with Rebecca and help out and enjoy a mother daughter day! Not all of us can do that! When I was younger, I had to share my mother with three other sisters, so my times with just her were few and far between. On the other hand, my one daughter is up to her gills with her own three children and job, so way to busy for much time for us together, although we do try once in awhile.

Oh, forgot to say, if anyone got one of those dolls, and also has a Betsy McCall, can they wear Betsy’s clothes too? Just wondering………………!

    1. I have both a Betsy and a FF. When I stand them side-by-side Betsy is quite a bit shorter. They say Betsy is 14″, but my H4Hs are 14″ and they are taller than Betsy and they can’t easily wear each others clothes. I tried one of Betsy’s dresses on Bella. It fit, but if I were to use the pattern for Bella I would need to lower the waistline and make the sleeves a little bigger. They looked smallish. I didn’t measure but the dress comes to Betsy’s waist but looks like an empire waist on Bella. I’m making Bella a Christmas dress. I will be using a Wellie pattern I have made a few times. I tried one of the dresses on her and would say the Wellie patterns fit but I think the waist would need to move up some so it doesn’t fall across her backside. Otherwise it doesn’t close right in the back. In all instances the clothes fit well around the torso. It just seemed the alterations were mostly in length. Hope this helps.

      1. Thanks, Barbara! This really helps. I would not see an outfit for my dolls, but I have so many they would have to share what I already have.

    2. Hi Linda,
I think Rebecca is excited and a bit nervous about starting her new position as supervisor…she’s already dealing with some jealousy from a few that applied but didn’t get the job… :o(
Well…I still felt bad that I mentioned I’d be sewing but ended up shopping! We did have a good time!
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Hi Mary,
How funny that so many of you all ordered a doll. Congratulations on ordering Hanna!!
Lots of happy ladies on here today!!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Congratulations Rebecca!! That must have been a wonderful shopping trip. I can remember doing that with my Mom. We had such fun. A wonderful memory. Praying for hubby to get well soon. Miss you all.

    1. Hi Gloria,
Rebecca and I had a really fun time…we only made 3 wrong turns…George is always driving so I don’t pay attention like I should. It was dark when we left Paducah…and we decided the Goodwill in Marion would still be open so we decided to go there too. I missed an exit and we had to backtrack in the dark… we called it our night time adventure!
      It was really fun!
      George is still croupy!!
      Love you, Gloria
      Blessings, Jeanne

Dear Jeanne, how wonderful for Rebecca!

It sounds like you had fun shopping yesterday.

So you are a “police wardrobe consultant” now? Hmmm, should we be looking for your name in the credits of Law & Order or NCIS (chuckle)?

    1. Hi Dorothy,
Yes, I guess I can add Bulletproof Vest repairs to my resume!! I used to hem pants for a detective here in town too!! :o)
      You are too funny!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Oh, a shopping spree. Sounds so fun. About all I get to do around here is hit Costco every so often. A big congrats to Rebecca! A well deserved promotion I’m sure.

I managed to pick up some Glitter Girls shoes on Ebay as I could not find them at our local Target stores. They arrived yesterday so I immediately had to try them on Hanna. They do fit as I was told. Not much room for a sock, but then, she probably does not need them anyway. Some of the shoes came with cute stretchy pants too. So, we’re all set for fall and winter with a couple of pair of boots and some sparkle shoes. Now, if I can only find the Wellie Wishers patterns I have so conveniently tucked away. I would love to make a cute holiday outfit for her and Sara who should be starting on her journey to the west today. 🙂

If I get a chance today, I’ll check and see if Betsy’s clothes might fit the Fashion Friends girls.

Congrats to Mary on her new cutie too. I do think we’re helping to support the post office which definitely needs us. 🙂

Have a nice weekend, Jeanne. Did you pick up anything on your Paducah trip?

    1. Hi Joy
Sorry your shopping is limited to Costco… we’ll have to switch places next time. I’ve never been to a Costco before!!! :o)

Sounds like you are gathering all kinds of things for Hanna and Sara to use and wear.
I can’t wait to see some pictures of everyone’s dolls. I like regular shots instead of the prototype or pre order pictures.

I did find some “like new” Skechers tennis shoes for $12 at a consignment shop, a top and a blue and white gauzy paisley scarf. No sign of any lacy scarves… :o(

      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Congrats to Rebecca on her promotion! Real clothes are way more fun than uniforms.

Congrats to all the new dolly moms. I assume pictures will be forth coming? 😉

I read your post about the flooring, Jeanne. We have an old house, uneven floors, a dog, etc. I think it might work for us. We put in carpeting 25 years ago, and it is showing it’s age. I’m googling to see if it’s sold anywhere around here.

    1. Hi Julia,
YES…being able to wear regular clothes will be really nice or her.

I’m hoping some dolly pictures come to me soon…I’m wondering just what these new little girls look like in person and not the production pictures used in the video.

I hope you can find flooring that is equivalent to what we used. I think “loose lay” is the term you want to be looking for.
      Thanks Julia,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. A big congratulations to Rebecca! It is always nice to be recognized for efforts. Now Rebecca has to model her new outfits so you can take pictures and post them on the blog.

Looks like Joy really started a run on FF dollies. Maybe they could send her the final doll for her efforts or maybe an outfit or two. I read the information on either the doll box or the outfit box and it said something that made me think there might be more of these dolls coming, or at least more outfits. When I get my Christmas dresses finished I will take pictures. I have the perfect backdrop and I’m anxious to use it. Bella will be in those pictures. She’s one of the lucky recipients this year.

I saw the leggings and shoes Joy bought on eBay. They all looked so cute. I just have to come up with some more money before I can further indulge. That reminds me of something. Has anyone noticed that Deb’s Adorables is closed down until the end of November and possibly longer? Hopefully it’s nothing bad. I love Deb’s and would definitely miss her shop if it were gone permanently. I still haven’t gotten over Jo’s Doll Shoppe no longer selling the Heartstring dolls.

Your shopping spree sounds like a lot of fun. While she was growing up my daughter and I would shop for outfits for back-to-school, homecoming and prom, but otherwise we did not shop. She is not much of a shopper. Now she lives in Colorado and I’m in Texas so there is no chance to just hang out and shop. But in truth my son would be the one to go shopping with. He and my daughter-in-law both enjoy shopping. We give them part of their Christmas, birthday and anniversary money in cash so they can have fun since money is often tight for them.

I will check out the link on your flooring experience. When we did our kitchen and breezeway we could use the click and lock planks. Only the edges and by the doors was a problem. Our house is on piers so the floor stays pretty level. Sounds like yours was a lot more work.

    1. Hi Barbara,
It really does seem like Joy has started an epidemic with these dolls. I’m really thrilled for those of you who have ordered one…so far!!!
The “new” girls at my house always get moved to the top of the “modeling” list. It sounds like Bella just soared to the top of your dolly dresses list!! :o)
Thanks for all your checking and fitting reading about the new dolls.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. I have dolls of every size and shape, so I was trying clothes on Bella to see what patterns will work the best. I ended up with a dilemma. The Wellie dresses fit nicely with the slight alteration in waist length that I mentioned and I think any H4H dress patterns should work fine unless very fitted, but when it came to pants and shorts, I find the patterns that fit my H4H girls and my Wellie are not going to work with Bella without alterations all around. I have used the Lace Dolphin shorts from Pixie Faire for my H4H and my Wellie and they fit perfectly. On Bella I can’t get them past her upper thighs. They are pretty fitted so maybe a looser fitting short like the Sandbox Shorts might work. I’ve also used an LD shorts pattern for my H4H and my LDs, but they are hip huggers on Bella because she’s long from waist to crotch so they don’t come all the way up. I ran into the same situation with my Wellie pants pattern. The legs seem to be okay, but they are too tight over her backside, which is rather ample. No offense to the girls. I tried a pair of capris for my 16″ doll (its a Girl for All Time pattern) and they looked cute but the waist was too big (easy to fix with a slight alteration to the pattern and it’s an elastic waist) and the legs looked fine, but I’m not sure if this works for all AGAT pants because the capris are all I have to try on. If anyone has any suggestions, please share. Just wanted to pass this info along.

    1. Lots of great information on sizing. I haven’t sewn much for my AGAT girls so don’t have a pattern to compare. Sorry. My FF Hanna came with cut off jean shorts. It appears there is no difference between the front and back pieces, only cut slightly lower in the front. They open down the front with velcro, so that may be the key to getting them on over her hips. They are well made too. All the other pants I have for her are stretchy so no problem getting them on.

      1. Joy, if you get a chance at pictures, maybe you could do a nude picture of your new girls too. I asked Barbara the same thing…
        Thanks,
        Blessings,Jeanne

    2. Hi Barbara,
I’d like to see the new dolls in the nude…if you get a chance on that too….front and back. I like to see their joints. I hope you get a nice basic pattern figured out…
      Thank you Barbara,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. You should be getting a cut from Ruby Lane for sending them all this business! Very seldom do I ever see a new doll and order right away but it happened !( I too have a BD coming up so she is my gift :0)
I ordered the red head/ green eyed one as well which I thought was Hannah…but looks like it is Bella…I couldn’t decide anyway. They are both well done.
Congrats to Rebecca! Bless her heart…that is a quick promotion. Hope she likes it…I’m sure it is more responsibility ..they knew how to spot a winner.
So how are you going to sew for these new darling dolls if you don’t have one Jeanne?
    Tee hee

    1. Hi Kathe,
Joy is the one who is the “pusher” for this new doll. I had no idea she even existed till Joy mentioned her.
CONGRATULATIONS to you on your new doll too! All 3 girls are very cute and I bet it was hard to make that final decision.
I’m trying to figure out what to do about these little cuties…too many dolls come up at the same time. It’s hard to know which ones to buy…
      Thank you Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne
