Navi’s dress set is STILL in the works…

Today was Rebecca’s birthday and Tuesday is Kristoffer’s, so we decided to celebrate tonight by going out to dinner. We had a great time catching up on things with Kristoffer… I can’t believe my babies are 29 and 32… That makes me feel OLD!

Yesterday my car stalled on me twice, and tonight as we were getting ready to head to town, it happened to my hubby when he was at the wheel. We were leaving the restaurant, and it happened again. Kristoffer and my hubby had already talked about going to Auto Zone and having them use some kind of instrument on it to see if it gave off a code to tell them what was wrong. Turns out it was a MAF sensor, but they worked on it in the parking lot for probably an hour as Rebecca and I sat in the car freezing. They finally decided to GET the MAF sensor and put it in right there…
We drove home without any problems. Let’s hope it stays that way. My sisters are coming for a visit this weekend and I really didn’t want to get stranded somewhere when they have such a short visit.

SO…that’s why I didn’t get much done on Navi’s dress… (yep, I’m blaming it on the car this time!)

BUT, I do have a few things to show you…

Navi wanted a pair of thigh highs to wear with her “shorter” dress and Laura suggested a green like her dress.

The stretchy fabric is thin but still not thin enough to loose the excess at the toe area.

I thought I had a piece of stretchy knit that might work, and the color was fine, but it was too thick for the green shoes.

The shoes just slide on, and there was no way to get them on with the thigh highs… SO, I’ll probably have to make her a thinner pair of thigh highs or a new pair of shoes… :o(

So we moved on to the next thing… a slip. I found some pale blue tulle in my stash and made this teeny tiny half slip for Navi to wear under her dress. She loves modeling slips almost as much as Lian does.

It was a bit longer than her dress, so the winner can either slide it up higher on her belly or leave it showing just a tad. I don’t think I’m going to cut it off…

We never made it to fixing those Kitty ears, and that extra hair bow, but I’ll do my best to get things finished. However my sisters come first when they are visiting, so you might see something else other than Navi until they leave.

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Navi’s accessories are coming right along! That green for her thigh-highs is just the perfect color to go with her dress; hope you are able to figure out the issue with them being too thick for her shoes! I love her petticoat, too. So cures!

I’m glad you had a nice dinner out with your family. I thought we were the only ones with a bunch of birthdays close together–we have 9 family birthdays between 1/13 and 2/9, including both of our, our son and two of his sons, my husband’s daughter and his brother!! (And that’s not counting my three cousins with January birthdays!)

  2. Oh Navi looks so cute with the petticoat and new tights! Just what she needed,…….but now she need some shoes! Maybe you could keep the ones you already made for another time, maybe Christmas?, and make another pair to fit the tights, since you already know how to make the shoes, and the tights are already there. Of course it could be the other way around, new tights, and keep the shoes! Whatever is the easiest for you, Jeanne!

I have no idea what a MAF is or does, but we had a problem with the heat on the way down to Branson. What our problem was, the heat just came out full blast and never stayed at the temp we wanted it to be, so we had to drive with a window open a bit, which didn’t help me stay out of the draft, but after awhile, it settled down and things worked out. Maybe the thermostat is out of whack, which Michael suggested. Never had that happen before, but our car is not new at 15 years old! Otherwise, you would never know, it runs perfectly and no problems in 15 years! Yu aren’t the only one with car problems!
I’ll get those pictures to you today with the pumpkins! Hang in there!

    1. I forgot to say “Happy Birthday” to both of “ your babies”! No matter how old our children get we will always think of them as our babies!

  3. Too bad about the tights as I like the green, but even white would look cute I think. I like the slip peeking out below the skirt too.
Sorry about the car. Hope it is fixed. Nothing like having an unreliable car to clog the works. Interesting, as we are taking ours in to the dealership today. Heard a loud pop a week ago and the navigation screen went blank for a few blocks but then gradually returned. Want it on the books in case it happens again. According to Google, it does happen and can get worse. 🙁 And the side backup cameras don’t seem to be working anymore so they will reset or fix that too. That is my favorite feature. Also popping for new windshield washers which will be nicely aligned. Returned those we bought at Costco yesterday and leaving it to the pros.
Should be fun having your sisters visiting. I’m sure your mom will enjoy it too.
A big happy birthday to Rebecca and Kristoffer. 🙂
Found out from Direct Delivery mail that I have a package arriving from Sweden that has been stuck in customs in Chicago for awhile. Hope she arrives soon as I ordered her many months ago.

  4. Leggings? Maybe cutting the feet off and making them leggings would work. I love the green. Then you could do some thin socks on her feet or nothing on her feet, since her shoes provide good coverage.

Cute petticoat. How do you do the yoke on the petticoats? I did your tutorial where the slip came out from the waist and looks like a beautiful ballerina skirt, but most slips you do have the yoke and I really like that.

We are an October birthday family. My mother was 10/8, her mother 10/18, my nephew 10/27, my youngest grandson is 10/6, and my son, Sean, 10/14. Sean is my baby and just had his 37th birthday. My daughter’s birthday is in April. She will be 39. Talk about feeling old – especially since I was in my mid 30s when I had them,

Sounds like you’re in for a very busy weekend. I know you’ll have a great time. Can’t wait to hear all about it.

Happy Birthday to Rebecca and Kristopher.

  5. I thought for a minute I may have the perfect piece of stocking for this dress but when I actually found it the green was more Kelly green. Darn it anyway…would have been the right weight too…
    Have fun with your sisters!

  6. I had to laugh when I saw Navi’s tights because she looked like she had elf shoes on.. The little slip is very cute.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend with your sisters. It’s great that they can visit so often.
