We moved the hayride Sunday evening as the rain was pouring on Saturday like it was in Noah’s time. We had some serious downpours yesterday! It would have been great for canoeing! :o)
The hayride was a big hit and lots of students were blessed… tasting foods they had never tasted before, riding on a haywagon, square dancing, even though some couldn’t understand what the caller was saying to do, eating s’mores, and having their first taste of caramel apples. I only took 2 pictures the whole evening…of the huge bonfire, but I’ll have to share that maybe tomorrow.
We have to get up at 4:30 Monday morning so we can make it to my eye appointment on time. It’s supposed to be 46 degrees in the morning, and guess what? The heater in our car went out! Lovely, huh? I’m taking some blankets! :o)
My whole weekend was filled with busyness and I don’t think I even stepped foot in my sewing room… except to find an empty tub to put my caramel apple supplies in… So poor Noel is still standing on my cutting table with her dress unfinished… But I told her I’d be back in there as soon as I could.
Now, here’s the part where I was rescued… Linda sent me pictures of her girls dressed in their costumes and YOU get to see them too! She always goes above and beyond with her displays and from the looks of her pictures, these just might be your favorites! :o) So thank you Linda.
See if you can guess all the girls behind those masks!
AND… I was actually rescued TWICE… Susette sent me pictures of a surgical cap she made her daughter-in-law, Rakhi, just in time for the holidays… and she said if it fits as she hopes it does… she plans to make lots of caps for her for the holidays… I think that will be lots of fun for her. Susette said it took her a while to figure out if she had made it correctly, but YouTube confirmed that she had. There is a part where the ponytail goes and she said that part was not too clear. Susette being the perfectionist, put a seam in the top so all of the witches are standing up. Great thinking!! There’s elastic at the back but the holder has to be free enough to get the ponytail in.
Here are some pictures…
Thank you SO much ladies… I appreciate your “timely” pictures and hope to be able to work on Noel’s dress when I get home from having my cataracts removed… I’m not sure how I’ll be able to see… My right eye will be wonderful, I hope, with a new lens implanted, but I’ll still have my left eye needing to be done. I had to stop wearing my contacts (that I’ve been wearing for the last 47 years) and have been wearing these glasses for 8 weeks now…) My glasses prescription won’t work for the eye I’m having surgery on, so I don’t think they’ll work. I might be walking around like a zombie for the next 12 days until I get my left eye fixed! We’ll see, but I’m hoping I can see enough to do some sewing… I can’t go TWELVE days without sewing! :o(
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
First of all, thanks for shared pictures!! Linda, all your dolls look so cute in their costumes! I have some costumes for some of my dolls, but don’t really display them the way you do yours. It was also fun to see some of the tiny dolls in the background of the one picture, as well as some of the props you have.
Wow, Susette, that was quite an engineering feat, to come up with that surgical cap! I’m sure your daughter-in-law is going to enjoy wearing it, and now you can make some for other holidays also (if you’re so inclined)!!
Jeanne, as having been thru two cataract surgeries, I can reassure you, that few days between the two will pass fairly quickly. I did manage to do some sewing during that “one down, one to go” period, although it wasn’t quite as easy as with two good eyes! I found a pair of glasses that worked for me while my eyes stabilized (the prescription I had been wearing was Awful, once I had my eyes done!!), and with that and some readers (I just had the standard distance lenses put in, so I still need trifocals for the reading and mid-range parts), I managed. And I’m sure you will, too! That first day or two afterwards, though, you may find to be what I call low-energy days, so allow yourself some time to adjust and heal. We’ll be here when you’re ready to post sewing stuff again! In the meantime, you’re in my prayers.
Susette’s surgical hat is just darling! Rakhi is going to love it for sure, and just think of all the people who see it at the hospital will too! How clever that she was able to figure it out without a pattern! Well, Susette can do anything, like you, Jeanne!
I hope you are staying warm in the car today. We had a problem with our heater on the drive to Branson, and it gets cold fast with no heat! I’m sure George will have that heater working again in no time flat!
Thank you for showing my dolls. This is the week for others to send in their dolls pictures all ready for trick or treating!
Thinking of you today, Jeanne, and praying that all goes well.
Saying a prayer your surgery goes well!
Take it easy…sure it’s out patient but you still need to take care…..naps, TV,
Maybe you could take the lense out of the side you had surgery on and you could see out of the other side if you need them?
Thanks for all the Halloween pics Linda! The costumes are wonderful but all the little accessories so cute!
Suzette..the head gear is great! Nice fabric choice
I think I correctly identified all the costumed dolls, Linda, except the blond on the right in the last picture. Is she a JLY? Molly was super easy to get right! 😆😄 Are all the costumes from AG? They are all so pretty and well done. Your tiny little decorations on Felicity’s table – CUTE! Thanks for sharing.
Suzette, from the side that hat almost looks like a bonnet Laura and Mary Wilder would have worn. Did Kirsten ever wear bonnets?
Jeanne, sending you healing light and love.
Julia, yes, the blonde, who is standing next to Molly, is a JLY #21, who is now retired. She stands in as Molly’s friend, Susan.
While most all the costumes are from AG, a few are not. The first two, on Josefina and Kaya, are from Carpatina, Molly’s, Betsy’s and Cecile’s, are from various stores on Ebay.
Thank you for the compliments!
Linda’s dolls look lovely. I can identify all except one. They are Josefina and Kaya, then Felicity ( I love that mermaid costume, reminds me of Ariel), I think my Caroline would make a great mermaid as well) and Cecile. I don’t know the number of the next doll with Ivy. I know her name is Scarlett and she’s a AGOT. And then, of course, we have Linda’s star ’40’s girls, Linda( (fka Ruthie), Molly, and Susan with Betsy joining in. Felicity and Cecile have a most elegant table set, probably inviting everyone else over.
Great job on the cap, Susette. I’m sure it will be a big hit and enjoyed after Halloween is over.
I’ll be praying that your surgery goes well, Jeanne. Not being able to wear contacts would be difficult for me as well. I’ve worn them since I was twelve, so 39 years.
Those Halloween costumes are adorable! I like the little candy buckets too. Jeanne, I hope all went well with your cataract surgery and you are on the road to recovery.
Laura, Scarlett is JLY #49. She has medium skin, blue eyes, and dark brown/black hair.
Thank you for the compliments! You certainly know your AG dolls!
