Before I show you today’s post, I wanted to show you which little cutie ended up wearing Bailey’s gold colored dress… Melody’s little Bailey did! She sent me this picture and I had to share it with you…
This was what Melody told me…
“Bailey loves her new outfit, thank you! Unfortunately she couldn’t wear the headband, it didn’t work with her mohair wig. So I took the bow off
the headband and put it on a clip for her hair. 🙂 Now Patti wants a new outfit, and I have to find a pretty dress for the tiny girl coming in
time for Christmas.”
It’s wonderful seeing my doll dresses come alive on someone else’s doll. Thank you for sharing that picture with me, Melody!
I worked like crazy trying to get things finished for Kirsten’s dress to be listed on Ebay. And I did it! I even had time to go to Hobby Lobby and Joann’s. I was looking for mushrooms… I wanted Kirsten’s storyline to be about her going picking mushrooms with her family. W-E-L-L… I couldn’t find any mushrooms anywhere, so I had to settle for these little rubbery like pieces and in my listing I call them some kind of “elusive strain” of mushrooms! :o) I also added some acorns… but I read that acorns are hard to roast and they give off a bitter taste. I’m sure Kirsten’s family will figure it out! *wink* *wink*
I wanted to take my pictures outside to capture the pretty colors of this set, and they DO look better but not as much as I was hoping for. I can’t tell you just how pretty this set is in person… well, I can, but you can’t see it like I can… and that makes me sad. It is very pretty! :o)
Here are some pictures of the set and I’ll put a link to the listing on Ebay at the bottom… or you can click on the picture at the right sidebar and it will take you there…
If you’d like to see the listing on Ebay click the link below…
Julia wanted to know what Kirsten’s dress looked like from the snap tutorial that I gave a link to yesterday… Here is that post, Julia…
Tomorrow, I’m going to show you what Julia has been making.. you won’t want to miss it… :o)
I’ll see you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Melody’s Bailey looks just adorable in that gold ensemble! The color is just perfect for her! What a clever thing to do, taking the bow off the headband and using it on a hair clip instead!
Congrats on getting Kirsten’s outfit all ready. The rich blue of her bonnet really does tie the whole outfit together, and it looks lovely!
I meant to add, April Eleanor and I were looking at patterns today for her Halloween costume–but now I think she wants to be a nurse, so I’m going to have to see what I can do about that!! I think I do have a pattern for scrubs, but She is in love with the white uniform dresses and caps that nurses wore “in the olden days” (like the 1960s!! LOL) What we do for our dolls!!
Hi Charlotte,
Thank you so much for your kind compliments on Kirsten’s set…she is most definitely my blues girl!
So April Eleanor wants to be a nurse… I’m sure you’ll come up with something…
Thank you, Jeanne
Good morning, Jeanne! Melody’s April looks so proud of her new dress! I just love her impish smile, that also shows a hint of mischief! That dress was just made for her!
Oh my goodness,……….. Kirsten! I love the way the whole outfit makes her hair look like the color of honey! Here you make an adorable outfit and I’m talking about her hair! But anyway, this whole glorious outfit has certainly made Kirsten look like an illustration from a storybook. I grew up reading fairy tales by the Grimm Brothers and Hans Christian Andersen, and Kirsten could very well have been in the illustrations!
The blue looks brighter and prettier outside I think, and the basket full of acorns and mysterious mushrooms goes perfectly! I see that she is standing on the grass, not on your fake grass set-up! I guess the real grass is starting to turn, as ours is. I can’t believe you got to take pictures outside yesterday, as we had sprinkles and clouds all day. We are only going up to the 40’s today, Brrrr!
Thank you Linda,
We have been up in your neck of the woods today. We decided to go to Fairview Heights today with Rebecca and do a little shopping. We also ate lunch at a wonderful Mexican restaurant…Rio Grande….it was fabulous!!!
I looked for some “mushrooms” but didn’t find anything that would work any better than what I had…
We are on our way home now…it has been rainy and very cold today…the temp is 44 right now. I found a new sweater and got some Cotton Candy grapes at Dierbergs.
Thanks for your kind comments…Kirsten wi) blush when I tell her what you said!
Blessings, Jeanne
Still in the dark here this morning. Neighbors power returned late yesterday but we are on a different circuit. Have hopes that they will inspect the lines here and turn it back on today. 41 this morning and 62 inside. Burr. No power. No heat either.
Hard to see the dress photos on the phone but looks great in miniature. Hope it sells for a bundle. Very cute.
Joy, thinking of you and hoping the power goes on soon! It is certainly difficult to be without power in this day and age!
Thank you Joy,
I’m hoping by now you have gotten your power back…it must be getting old by now…
You should have taken Doroyhy up on her offer to come to PA!!
Thanks Joy,
Blessings, Jeanne
love bailey in that dress. it looks made especially for hr.
the basket of mysterious objects works well with kirsten’s new dress — her apron looks so crisp and white and her colors are perfect for her coloring.
i’m so sorry about the ca power problems — better than fire but cold and boring. snow melting here and sunny.
Hi Marilyn,
I think Melody’s Bailey looks sweet in that color too…maybe it’s one of those universal colors that blondes, brunettes or red heads can wear!
We went on a day trip up near St. Louis today and I tried to find something that resembled mushrooms but struck out up here too. We are on our way home…
It’s not cold enough to snow just yet. But it’s been rainy and damp all day and feels much colder than the 44 degrees it is…
Thanks Marilyn
Blessings, Jeanne
First of all, the dress from the snap tute is spectacular! The scallops on the hem, the woven trim on the bodice and the blouse fabric really made it so. I wish my sewing machine did that scallop and the blanket stitch you used on her bonnet. One of my vintage machines does the scallop and another has an extensive set of cams that might make the blanket stitch. It would be handier to have them all on one machine.
Today’s dress is another extra special ensemble. I thought there were mums in her basket. What part is the dirndl? The dress by itself or the apron or both together?
Bailey looks very cute in her new outfit. She has such an adorable face. I kind of look on eBay for her but haven’t taken any action. I’m still trying to reduce the over all number of my doll herd!
Hi Julia,
I’m glad you enjoyed seeing the red and blue dress for Kirsten
A lot of ladies loved that one when I made it…
I copied from Wikipedia’s description of what a Dirndl is… The dirndl consists of a bodice and skirt or a pinafore dress, a low-cut blouse with short puff sleeves, full skirt, and apron. While appearing to be simple and plain, a properly made modern dirndl may be quite expensive as it is tailored, and sometimes cut from costly hand-printed or silk fabrics.
Maybe that will help you…I usually consider it a dirndl when it has 3 or more fabrics used in the dress.
Oh. I like that… “doll herd”…
Thanks Julia,
Blessings, Jeanne
Brrrrr!!!!! I took my dog out awhile ago and needed my warm jacket. So unusual for here at this time of year. It’s supposed to get colder as the day goes on with temps in the low 50s this evening. Glad I’m not going to a football game tonight. I remember going when our kids were in school and sometimes we took sleeping bags to keep warm Yes it does get cold here, just not usually this soon.
Kirsten’s dress and accessories turned out perfect. This should be a quick sell. When I was looking at the snap tutorial I wanted to check out the whole dress but forgot. Wow!! It was amazingly beautiful. Glad someone ask for the link.
Melody’s Bailey looks so adorable in her new fall dress. I would love to have a Bailey, but I thought I saw somewhere that she would not be available as a preorder again. I hope I read wrong. Buying a “retired” doll can get really pricey. When I bought my Heartstring (Effner sculpt) dolls from Jos Doll Shoppe, I bought one with a themed outfit that was about $250 I think. The one I bought in her panties only was $125. Since Jo is not selling them anymore and no one has bought her business, they are showing up from time to time on Ebay for thousands. Wish I’d sprung for more when I could. They are beautiful little dolls.
I hope Joy gets her power back on soon.
Hi Barbara,
We are on our way back home from a day to (near) St. Louis and we just passed through a town and they were having Friday night football game… it’s now 42 degrees but it’s windy so I know the wind chill has to be colder than that.
Yes, Bailey is a sweet little doll. I’m not sure what the status on her chance of pre ordering is…I wa just thankful I found one when I did…
Joy was the one who told me about the My Meadow dolls. I had no idea they existed…
I hope Joy’s power comes back on soon too…
Thank you Barbara,
Blessings, Jeanne
Bailey squealed when I told her she was on the blog! She’s doing the happy snoopy dance and I think Patti may be a little miffed. Patti was my first, she came from a dear friend in the UK, then I preordered Bailey. I have one more on preorder, Kyrra. Those elf ears got me! 🙂 PS: Patti hopes you might make something that would fit her soon… 🙂
Hi Melody,
Oh I’m so glad Bailey was thrilled to see herself on my post today…tell her ladies from New Zealand and Sweden and France and Germany got to see her sweet little picture.
Tell Patti I’ll try to get something else made…
Kyrra is certainly a sweet little thing too…talk about a little girl with mischievous looks…that’s her!!
Thank you Melody,
Blessings ,Jeanne
