Callie Rose has gone to the Spa…

Well, my Sylvia Natterer doll, Madleine, sold, and just this morning, my blue dress with the PINK accents, sold. YAY! That left one auction still without a bidder! I’ve got tons of hits on Callie Rose, my Paola Reina doll, and I also have plenty of watchers, but no takers, so she has an “appointment” at the Spa over the weekend. I’ve got to do something to make her sellable… I guess we’ll all see what I do…

I cancelled her listing on Ebay and will put it back on when I finish with her.

I really didn’t know what Saturday’s post was going to be about as I spent a fair amount of time at my mom’s today…and got home later than normal.

BUT…a couple of ladies saved the day for me with their pictures. If you click on the pictures, they will enlarge and you can see all the details!

Linda’s pictures were of her girls having fun at the pumpkin patch. Ruthie is cheering them on while Betsy is helping out!

Linda’s modern girls, Scarlett and Ivy are standing by a display there. :o) Thanks!

I love the overalls in the first picture and the plaid shirts in the bottom one. My hubby is MAN FROM PLAID around here. He’d love that picture!

Linda told me she was more than ready for some cooler weather so it made her scenes look more believable!!

Only 3 more days, Linda, and it WILL be the first day of Autumn… Looks like I better kick it in high gear… I think I’ll sew Fall dresses until the end of October and then start on some Christmas one… Sounds like a plan to me…

Then I have a picture from Susette… It’s right on time if you want to make these…October is coming pretty quickly! It’s perfect for those of you who like a craft project! :o)

This is what Susette said:

You’ll think I’m crazy or completely jumping the gun, but I’d like to share a Halloween Idea in case anyone would be interested in doing it, too. The spiderweb fabric is very lacy and is available at Joann’s if you really look for it. It might be in the Halloween Section or it could be in the fancy satins and lace aisle. There was none at the Big Joann’s so I went to the Little Joann’s where I found it last year. I used the black over an orange flannel so the lace wouldn’t slip and slide like it did when I made the original which I couldn’t find among my decorations this year. Of course I found the old tablecloth the day after buying the fabric but these are better anyway. These are covering Molly’s and Felicity’s tables but anything as a base will do, shoeboxes, cut-down oatmeal boxes, etc. With two tables I’ll be able to spread the Halloween spooks out this year so their costumes will be seen better than last year.

Ok, who’s going to Joann’s? I’ll probably see you IN line! :o) No, better not.. I’m on a “fabric freeze!” :o)

Thanks Susette! :o)

I’m still working in my sewing room… I’m getting there. I just want it to be so nice when I FINALLY show it to you!

I’m going to head to bed at a reasonable hour tonight… so I’ll see you Monday!
Have a wonderful weekend.
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Can’t wait to see what you do with Callie Rose! Maybe a new hairdo? Or….????

Really enjoyed the pictures. Linda’s displays are so cute, and very fall-ish!! And I love Susette’s idea of using flannel under the lace tablecloths! Really makes sense, and who’s to know, unless you tell them?!

I’ve started a bag for my recent sewing…my friend Tonya and I have been having fun doing “twinsie” things for our local Sewing Expo (Puyallup) every year–last time we made matching tops (same fabric, slightly different patterns). For next year we bought the same fabric for tote bags; she has hers started; I’m making a sample of other fabrics before I decide for sure it’s the one I want out of the special fabric we bought. Stay tuned!

    1. Hi Charlotte,
I’m hoping to make a difference so she’ll sell by doing something relatively minor…. it won’t be a huge change…
Using flannel under MY lace tablecloth is an idea “I” just might have to try…I have one that creeps off the table…and it’s so annoying!

A tote sounds like a fun project to work on…you’ll have to show us yours and Tonya’s when you get them finished!
      Thanks Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. Will do, Jeanne. I won’t see Tonya until next Feb. (she lives in Utah), but I can send you a picture of the two of us in our twinsie tops from the last Expo, if you want. Just send me an email….

  2. Yes, Jeanne, fall is in the air now and I can’t wait until it officially starts Monday! It has been way too hot around here, but it WILL come, just not as fast as I would like! I had fun dressing the dolls, trying to keep them in the same color family, then trying to find little things to pose them with to create a storyline. I just wish I had more space in which to do this! Thank you for showing my dolls!

Susette’s idea of the tablecloths for Halloween is just perfect! And the fact that you don’t have to have a real table, just a box, makes it doubly good! We all have boxes laying around, for sure! I can’t wait to see how she fixes everything up and dresses her dolls for Halloween, which is always a treat to see!

    1. Hi Linda and happy Saturday to you!!
You probably don’t have a spare bedroom that you could turn into a doll room just for you, do you? Wouldn’t that be fun? You could set things up and leave them!!
As many props and trinkets as you have, you could certainly put your own dolly room to good use!!
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. Jeanne, I have a 3 bedroom house, and two of the bedrooms are , you might say, doll rooms! I do leave the displays up until I change them out. The one with the 40’s girls, has my big doll house, my grandson’s books and toy cars, plus my TV and a glider for me to sit in and watch tv or videos with my grandson,
        Willie.
The other room used to be my daughter’s, and we have a bed for sleepovers and furniture with dolls on it, and that’s where Felicity and Cecile are. In addition, I have Josefina and Kaya in our family room on a shelf with a lot of their collection. Where do I go next? For sure, there will be no dolls in our bedroom, although we do have a very pretty bay window with a big shelf ! No way!!
I don’t want my house to look like a toy store, although I think it already does!😊

Dear Jeanne, thanks for sharing the dolly photos. I always enjoy seeing how other folks pose their dolls.

I had an idea for Callie Rose. Since you are going to send her to the “spa,” maybe you could make a towel to wrap around her and some slippers and display her that way. By towel, I mean one of those oversized wraps that women tuck under their arms and wrap around their bodies. I used to have one that had Velcro to hold it snugly under my arms. Well, it’s just a thought.

    Wishing all a nice weekend.

    1. Hi Dorothy,
That would be cute to see Callie like that… I’m still thinking about what to do…
I’d like to have one of those towels from myself!!! :o)
      Have a great weekend, Dorothy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. I got one of those towels at Bed, Bath and Beyond. It even has straps! Cute as can be. It was a couple years ago, but it looked like it was something they regularly carried. You might call them and see. : )
        Love and Hugs,
        Ali

  4. I’m glad we’re headed into Fall. I’ve about had it with this heat and humidity! I live in air condition most of the summer and refuse to go out in the humidity where the bugs seem to be everywhere. Eck!

Linda’s pictures are refreshing to remind us of fall. Her girls are busy in the pumpkin patch. They are all dressed so cutely.
Susette’s tables are sensational. It’s a good idea using flannel under the slippery lace. That looks like a fun craft I could even do.
It will be interesting to see your dollie after her day at the spa. I’m sure it will only enhance her looks for her new home.

    1. Thanks Paula,
Fall is my favorite season…it just always seems too short, though. I love light weight sweaters and corduroy!! I can’t wait…it’s cooler today but next week it’s supposed to be in the 80’s again…
I hope you’re have a nice day so far!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Love Linda’s fall photos. Great use of props too. My kids are pointing at the screen and saying, why can’t we do that?
Susette, the scene setting is so exciting. Great idea on the table cloth layers and the draped cobwebs on the wooden background screen look wonderful. Too bad I just went to Joann’s yesterday. Guess I’ll have to go again today. I didn’t even think to look for the drapey fabrics. Fun.
Maybe if you dress your Paola Reina for Halloween, you wouldn’t have to operate. I think she would sell quickly in a simple fun costume. 🙂
Hope your weekend is cool and comfortable. We’re looking at more hot weather Tuesday and Wednesday and probable power shutoffs. Not fun.

    1. Hi Joy,
You might be right about dressing Callie up…instead of just being in a slip….

It IS cooler here this morning…we walked across the road to a yard sale our neighbors were having. I found a pretty little tea set…doll size…and very pretty for .50.

Well, I better get started on something…
      Have a nice weekend,
      Blessings. Jeanne

  6. Linda and Susette are getting me ready to unearth all the fall decorations. Maybe even today! Both sets of pictures are so perfect! Love the way your border looks like part of the background Linda.😉 Susette has a great idea for the Halloween tables. I may have to visit Joannes.
The doll convention and a another doll I just “had to have” made my doll funds pretty skimpy or I would be buying your Callie.
    Hav3 a fun weekend

    1. Hi Kathie,
I guess it’s time for me to look through some Fall fabrics and get ready for my next doll dress!!!
Did you go to the Doll Convention in Texas?
If so, please share your thoughts!!!
      Enjoy your new dolls!!!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Thank you Kathie! I love that border too and I know that borders are “out”, but I love that one since it is so homey and cheerful, that I don’t care what the so-called “fashion” is, I’m keeping it!

  8. Yes, we can always count on Linda, Susette, and others to have a new dolly display going on. I love that Linda always has her dolls doing season appropriate activities. I know she shared pictures last year, but I couldn’t find them in the search to compare. I’ll bet you switch things around each year though, Linda. I like your chair rail border as well. Your home should be your castle and you should decorate it however you wish.
I like that spiderweb lace, Susette. Hopefully, I’ll make it to JoAnn’s. to get some. I agree that this idea works perfectly for covering boxes as everyone does have a box of some sort lying around.
I do like autumn very much, but I’m kind of sad this year as I feel I’ve missed a lot of the summer. Due to family needs I haven’t had a great deal of time outside and didn’t get to plant flowers etc. I am looking forward to seeing your fall dresses, Jeanne,

    1. Hi Laura
I’m sorry you’ve had to be such a home body this summer and mostly inside to boot… :o(
I wish things could change for you…

I’m glad you enjoyed Linda’s dolly set ups and Susettes doll table idea. Maybe you can make it to Joann’s for a little stroll around the store!
      Thanks Laura
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. HI Melody,
I can’t wait for you to see Madleine either! I’m hoping it’s love at first sight for both of you! Tell her I said “hi”
      Thanks Melody,
      Blessings, Jeanne
