~ Swedish Sweetheart ~ is on Ebay

I wasn’t picked to be on the jury today and was let go in the afternoon but have to check back Friday to see if I have to sit in on another case. I took advantage of a quiet house and sewed like the dickens! Anyone else ever do that? It works! Look what I managed to accomplish! “Swedish Sweetheart” is finished!

Yep, I finished Kirsten’s dress set, made the pantalettes, got her hair all stylish and sweet and even took my pictures… AND got the whole thing listed on Ebay… You can see it by clicking the picture of her at the right side bar or you can click HERE.

If I hadn’t mentioned I love my new (old) Kirsten, let me say it again! In a melodious tone, let me say, “I LOVE HER!” She is a dream boat and so sweet! I braided her hair and then curled it in little buns at the side of her head, bobbie pinned it in place and then added the hair bows and white flowers. I hope she doesn’t look too much like Princess Leia from Star Wars!

Just to let you know… the insides of my dresses still matter to me, I’ve added a picture in the listing of the inside of the dress to keep me trying as hard as I can to be neat and tidy with the hand and finishing work.

P.S. I wanted to take pictures outside but it was raining all day long, so that wasn’t going to work.

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

That is such a darling outfit, Jeanne, and of course the title is perfect! Did you know that my maiden name is the same as Kirsten’s last name? Yup….Larson! AND I’m 100% Swedish, although 3rd-generation American-born.

Well, of Course I have a Kirsten doll! Her middle name (which I gave her) is the same as my maternal grandmother’s middle name, Augusta. (Even though that grandma was a Magnuson.) I gave Grandma Larson’s middle name, Caroline, to Molly, who was my first AG doll.

You did such a fantastic job braiding your Kirsten’s hair and pinning the braids up like that. I’ve always said, God knew what he was doing when he gave me a son, as I have absolutely NO talent with hair!! LOL The first time I redid Molly’s braids (which I had to, as she got changed so often!!) it took me FOUR tries to get them to look even halfway even! I don’t dare take Kirsten’s braids down, although I think I do a little better with doll hair now than I used to. Still, why take a chance?!

  2. Simply sweet, Jeanne! Oh my, how darling Kirsten looks in this adorable outfit! I love that it looks like a normal looking Swedish outfit without looking like a costume. Her hair styling is just perfect! Another “Jeanne Marie “ touch, that you don’t see often.
I love that vintage hankie apron, the snap-on bows and the darling pantalettes! This one is going to be a winner, that’s all I can say! Your new Kirsten is probably loving living with you now!
After all the remnants of tropical storm Barry, now we get heat! This is a great time to get something done inside!

  3. Excellent needlework all round Jeanne…as nicely done on the inside as the outside. You set a high standard and I truly admire it. So glad you got so much accomplished yesterday. How good that must feel! Now, who will be next? Your Kirsten surely is a Swedish sweetheart!

    Blessings.

  4. Nice. I hope you do not get picked for any terrible jury duty.
My poor son in law is doing a murder case…. so sad. Of course that is gory and dreadful
I was skipped over jury duty on a drunk driving case. I was glad.
That being said, my husband just reminded me (when SIL informed us of his duty assignment) of when he has to serve for an entire year on a federal grand jury, a huge drug gang case with a lot of gory details. Those cases are very traumatizing

Kirstens dress is very pretty, and I love the interior detail finishes you make. Well done.
Here it is so hot, today is going to be 100 with a heat index of 110. Disgusting. I have to jump in the shower now and get perky to food shop, then after lunch take my 95 year old daddy to the skin doctor for a check up…

  5. That dress is so sweet and cute — everything about it is perfect. And Kirsten’s hair looks just wonderful. You do have another winner. The bows and flowers are perfect, and blue is always just right on Kirsten. It’s nice to see her in a summer dress, and Linda’s right, it looks like a dress and not a costume.
Now I have to go put it on my watch list so I can keep up with what’s happening to your auction.
    Great work! What’s next?

  6. I’m glad you like your new Kirsten. She photographs very well. And the outfit, in my favorite blues, is wonderful. I see a bid too. 🙂
Thanks to Ali C. who reminded me yesterday about Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. I’d forgotten about using it on dolls. I’m still going to buy a fine sanding set though which can be used on lots of things other than dolls. George would love it. I’ve seen several dolls with actual scratches, not rubs that really benefited from fine sanding and were saved. Might be fun to rejuvenate a dolly some time. 🙂
Will those chimney Swifts ever leave? I do believe they are learning about flight and hopefully, will take off soon. The loud chirping continues.

Dear Jeanne, I love the apron. I love how the pantaloons stick out from below the dress. She is a real cutie.

It is interesting how we are drawn to certain dolls and not to others. I had a little Boneka doll whom I just could not like no matter how I tried. She looked so sad. Every time I looked at her, I felt sad. Well, I sent her off to one of the Little Darling artists for a “spa day.” She came back beautiful and now I love her. We are definitely both happy now (laugh).

    1. Hi Dorothy
I know what you mean, I have a few dolls I’m not crazy about… I’m curious about your boneka face up. Could you share her picture and the artist name? Maybe if mine go for a “spa day” I’ll ha e a change of heart! Thanks for sharing

        Dear Ingrid, hello.
The artist I used was Geri Uribe. She is one of the primary artists with Dianna Effner.

I don’t know if the Little Darling artists paint dolls made by other companies. I can investigate that.

I will be happy to share information with you? I am not sure how to do that though. Are you a member of the Little Darling group?

        1. Hi Dorothy,
You can email me at just_ingrid1960@yahooo.com Id be happy for any info you could share.
I do visit the little darling page so I must be a member lol. The doll id love freshened up is a little darling BJD but she’s resin and not all artist work with both resin and vinyl. I also have 2 Bonekas that need a new face.
Thank you so much for any info you can share ❤

  8. The vintage hanky apron with ribbon flowers that can be snapped on and off is ingenious! I may borrow that idea sometime. I have a collection of vintage hankies that I’ve wanted to incorporate into a doll outfit. The way you used the open areas in the hanky’s design is so clever. I learn so many things from your blog, Jeanne! Thank you for your generosity in sharing details with us.

Love Kirsten and her outfit and the hair is beautiful, mine need her braids redone but it scares me to think of trying to fix them. Any hints would be great! I guess I just need to wet it a lot. Like the other girls I love to read your blog! I was on jury duty in 79, that that time you went every day and just stayed in a room for a month. I was doing needlepoint then and I started and finished a bell pull while I sat.
    Have a good day! Sylvia

  10. Hi Jeanne
I love this outfit … just adorable! I love how brave you are… painting your dolls face, diving elbow deep into rejuvenating a thrift sale find. I wish I could but I’m chicken pawk pawk lol
I’ve been MIA … we just got home from S.C. visiting our son and his family. Had a wonderful time trip home (12 hours) dragged. Happy to be home.
Thanks for sharing the limb tightening post. I may just try it.
    Hugs
    Ingrid

  11. Well didn’t she just turnout cute as bug! That blue compliments her hair and her eyes and the braids are so freaky cute! The inside picture is impressive! So eat and tidy. Aren’t you going to be sad when you run out of that perfect eyelet embroidered fabric for pantaloons?
Good job getting it all done so swiftly!
I’m getting butterflies because next week is the UFDC Convention and I’m going this year. It is pretty much doll heaven morning till night. Antique to modern, porcelain to Barbies. A sales room to die for too. The vendors always bring their best dolls to the convention.
It’s kind of like 4H for doll collectors. Dolls in sooo many categories and special exhibits. This year there is a class for the Junior collectors to make headbands for their AG dolls. Get them started on something fun and easy and hopefully they will sew for their Dolls!
    Good luck with this auction!
Joy, I hope those chimney Swift’s find a new home soon….you have got to be tired of listening to their noise! 😟

    1. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Kathie, wow, you are going to UFDC! I went to a regional convention last year and had so much fun. I am not going to the national convention but a few of the members of my local club are going.
      Have a great time!

  12. I see you got the rain from Barry we were supposed to get. Well some parts of Houston got a lot but we got none out here. I mowed this morning and it was so dry I looked like Pig-Pen from Charlie Brown when I was finished.

I have to admit your Kirsten is very pretty, especially in her dirndl ensemble and her sweet little hairdo. What a clever thing you did with the flowers. I checked out your auction last evening. The pictures are great. I loved the hanky apron and how the apron can be embellished easily. My sisters and I used to give our grandmother pretty hankies for Christmas and her birthday. I don’t think any of them found there way to me since everyone lived up north and I was down here when she passed away. Sure wish I had some of them. So many ideas of what to do with them coming my way.

Good luck with the auction for Kirsten’s dirndl outfit. It’s lovely.

  13. That’s adorable Jeanne! Your new Kirsten looks very pleased with it too! I couldn’t figure out what everyone was talking about saying the flowers snapped off. I finally went to the eBay listing and saw the picture of the snaps there. That’s quite ingenious how you hid the snaps in the apron’s openwork. I think her hair looks lovely too.

  14. That is probably the prettiest outfit I’ve seen you make for Kirsten as well. Your new Kirsten is certainly a beauty. That is very clever how to add or not add the blue bows to the apron. I have a few hankies that belonged to my grandmother. She always had one tucked in her purse and it smelled of lemon drops which she kept in there also. Is it any wonder that I love the flavor of lemon candy? My great aunt would always bring hankies as gifts when she came to visit from Germany. I have one that I received as a young girl with a script L in a wreath of flowers.
I noticed someone has already bid on it. I’ll bet all Kirsten dolls will be clamoring for this one.
