Hi everyone,
I’m still around… just busy as a bee! My sisters left this afternoon and we had SUCH a wonderful time this visit. There was lots of time together and we did all our favorite things… a little shopping, a lot of talking, crossword puzzle races, eating at Panera’s, splitting a Phil Brown Chocolate Chip cookie, visiting with momma, a little decorating, a little dreaming, and more. It was all good!
The only bad part is, I was too busy up until this evening to get anything done toward a new post, so for one last time, (hopefully) I’m going to have to find something from the archives and share with you.
(I’m trying to decide on a fabric for the next girl and will get started on that.)
It looks like WordPress has changed the way you click on a link now… just click on the titles in the white square and the whole post will come up.
Here is a post from September 21, 2014 called:
No…it’s not about dolls; but something else creative I tried…
This post is from March 8, 2015 called:
Next up is a post from May 22, 2015 called:
Well, I’m off to bed so I can be ready tomorrow for what comes my way… hopefully sewing! :o) *wink* *wink*
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
I’m glad you had such a good time with your sisters. Sounds like the kind of things my cousin Gail and I used to do (except the decorating; and we did jigsaw puzzles together, and played games….). We lost her a year ago, and even though we didn’t see each other very often (2000 miles apart), we always loved our time together.
It’s funny, when your blog site first came up, the boxes were beige. I clicked on the first one, read the story (which was new to me), and noticed another light gray box at the bottom with “Trackbacks” and a link to a related article you wrote two days after that one, about Rebecca’s dresser! That was kind of nice.
Anyway, when I hit the “back” arrow and went back to today’s post, the boxes were suddenly white! The box also has a little “speech balloon” icon and a number, which shows how many comments there were.
I did get a little sewing done today; part of my gift to our new great-nephew is done now. Still have stuff to do, though!
HI Charlotte,
Cousins, sisters, it doesn’t matter when you enjoy the others company! We had such a nice visit!!! :o)
It’s funny, now the boxes with the Post titles in them are beige for me too… last night they were white… Oh well, at least they work!
I haven’t made it to my sewing room yet, but there’s still time… I hope!
Blessings, Jeanne
You are fortunate to have had sisters, Jeanne; I had only one brother. My cousins (primarily Gail) and my best friend were my “sisters”….
Good morning, Jeanne! I didn’t get to comment yesterday, but I did get to spend the day with my daughter, and we went out to lunch together, to make up for Mother’s Day, since she was under the weather that day. It was a very nice visit and the day was so pretty too! Yes, it is fun to get back with someone and just plain talk and connect, and I’m glad you also were able to do that with your sisters. I can’t even remember the last time I was with all 3 of my sisters at the same time! One lives in Arizona, so that’s the hard part!
Yes, the blog looks a bit different, but I can navigate it well, and that’s something, since I am not in the least bit computer literate!
I love going through the older blogs, and remember them well, from the darling polka dot dresses to the sweet dress for Addy, and the cabinet you redid, only to sell it to someone who was going to redo it again! How heartbreaking! Rebecca’s cheesecake looked SO good, and so pretty!
Have fun getting back to the sewing room, and doing what you love best!
HI Linda,
It sounds like you had just as good a time as we girls did here. The day was pretty here too… Today not so much… rainy, dreary, and a bit damp feeling in the air… oh well, it’s Spring and it’s unpredictable.
I’m glad you enjoyed the posts… AGAIN… hopefully I can get something done today that will be NEW!!!
Thanks Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
Ah, memories. I love old dressers. I have an old tall dresser, very simple, made in Denmark, it was mine as a kid. In expensive furniture purchased in the 60’s in Germany PX (my dad worked for GAO then) that dresser needs attention and sits in my dining room
Your Blog is always a joy to read. I am happy you had a good time with your sisters
Thank you Rosemary,
I kind of have a thing for old dressers too…and beds, and tables and chairs, and buffets… etc… I just like old furniture better than the modern stuff… :o)
Thanks for enjoying my posts… I’ll try harder to be more focused on dolly and sewing things…
Blessings, Jeanne
Jumping around a bit today to see everything. Always fun revisiting old posts.
That package I’m receiving has made it to San Francisco and is expected tomorrow. Can’t wait.
Wonder who will be next for a new outfit? Oh the suspense. 🙂
Hi Joy,
I’ll wait to say anything about “the” package until I get the official word and pictures from you… I bet you are SO excited!!
Thanks Joy,
Blessings, Jeanne
I totally enjoyed visiting all those previous posts. Addy’s reproduction dress is absolutely beautiful. I used to love reproducing dresses I saw for my daughter but couldn’t afford to buy. It’s fun to see how close you can get. The polka dot outfits were a joy to see. On the one with the polka dot skirt, what did you use for the black top? Really pretty.
I’m not into furniture refinishing but my hubby used to do a lot of it. I don’t think he would have let me paint the chest, but I’m glad yours did. I thought it was nice and can’t imagine buying it to redo. I would have been glad that someone else had done it and I’d just enjoy it.
Regarding getting your money’s worth, I have a booth at our church’s fall festival each year. I don’t work too hard at it because no one seems to come to buy from the craft fair. They come for lunch and the petting zoo for their kids. But my booth fee supports the church so I do it. I do things like kitchen towels, market bags, diaper covers, etc., using my embroidery machine. They are cute but quick. I’ve had people be interested in an item and then find out I did it by machine. They turn up their nose. They have no idea what I would charge for a hand embroidered item. People apparently have no clue what goes into making handcrafted items, including your heart and soul. My daughter-in-law grew up in a family that said people made things as gifts because they were too cheap to buy a gift. It actually prohibits me from doing a lot of the things I would like to do for my grandchildren. I’m restricted to embroidering t-shirts for them. I haven’t been able to convince her otherwise in ten years.
It did take me a bit to figure out how your blog site works now, but I’m good to go. Glad you had such a delightful visit with your sisters and mom.
Hi Barbara,
The polka dotted skirt has a lacy piece of fabric that I just serged the edges and made it into an overtop. It was kind of weird with no rhyme or reason as to the edging… I pulled it and sort of gave it that lettuce edged look. It was a stretchy lace to begin with..
I used to have people look at something I made at Farmer’s Market years ago. They would look at it, look at the price and as they walked away I could hear them say, “I could make that for less than that…” I used to be hurt by that, but I got over it and finally started saying to myself, “Well, if you want to make it yourself, go right ahead… let’s just see if you do.” Someone always came along and bought my things so if not one week, then the next…
We did have a great time together… I hated to see them go, but they might be back in July. Can’t wait…
Thanks Barbara,
Blessings, Jeanne
Julie just loves it when you show her old pictures.
I liked Addy’s dress a lot — I’d never seen that one — but my favorite story was the one dresser one. I was thinking how pretty it was and how happy the new owner would be, and then came the last line about repainting. Oh. I’ve been thinking. I’ll bet after she saw it, she kept it as she got it, at least for several years.
I know you learned a lot but I do hope the chest stayed as you painted it for a while at least. Maybe her daughter came in and said, “Mom, I need that chest just like it is.” Really, lots of things might have happened, and what did happen might have been good.
HI Marilyn,
I guess we’ll never know about the dresser… but I learned a lot about painting it so it wasn’t a total loss for me… and I gained $95 besides. :o)
I’m glad Julie likes seeing herself in pictures. I thought she looked exceptionally sweet in that pink dress. I need to do one like that again…
Well, I better get in my sewing room before something comes up and I never make it in there.
Thanks Marilyn,
Blessings, Jeanne
That was a fun post…I must have missed the original one. You are great at re finishing! I love to do it too. I was reading along until I got to the “SHES GOING TO REPAINT IT”!!!
Seriously? It was so freaky cute! I hope once she had it she reconsidered that thought!
Glad you had fun with your sisters…I only have one but when she’s here everything gets turned up a notch and we never are quiet😊
Hi Kathie,
I wish I had more time to do some furniture projects. Maybe one day…
I’d say our 4 days together were turned up a notch or two as well. I miss them already…
Glad you enjoyed today’s post.
Blessings, Jeanne
I enjoyed seeing the posts again. The gaiters are just darling. What a lot of ingenuity and sewing to put that all together. Love the cheesecake which is a lot of work, too. Yummy! Glad you had so much fun with your sisters.
Hi Susette,
I’m glad you enjoyed seeing those posts a second time…I tried to pick a couple that were interesting…
I am still thinking about what you asked me… I don’t feel qualified, but I am considering it… :o)
Blessings, Jeanne
