Okay, how many of you had suspicions that I might make a sister set using Navi? Well, you see…I had just a tiny bit of fabric left from my yellow fat quarter and thought I might as well see how the girls looked together…AND Navi had that sweet little wig with those long red braids just like Bailey’s…AND I had 2 tiny red buttons for the front…AND I might include a pair of my handmade red shoes for Navi…AND I have just enough yellow wool felt for a hat…SO, I’m sure you can see why I HAD to do this…:o)
It’s been since Christmas that I sewed for Navi and I forgot how tiny a 6″ doll can be…especially setting in those sleeves…they are about the size of a small marble and her bodice is about 1 inch long!
Even though I didn’t get it finushed, I thought I’d show you a few cute pictures I snapped of the girls on the bench…
I will have to hurry and get Navi’s dress finished in case Bailey’s dress sells using the Buy It Now feature. I would love to have enough time to get some pictures of the girls in the finished set together. :o) I hope you enjoyed seeing the girls today!
There is a new Dr. in the house!!! Alba did very well today defending her Thesis and we can all call her Dr. Alba now! She has to make some minor revisions to her paper, but it went as well as possible and she is so happy! Almost 5 years of work boiled down to a 2 hour session with her professors! Well, done my dear friend!
My sisters are coming in Friday and can stay until Tuesday morning! I’m so excited to see them again.
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Dear Jeanne, you have a ton of things to celebrate: sister time, Dr Alba, sewing projects.
It’s the magic of May! Wonderful things can happen.
The two girls look so cute together! Yes, those tiny dolls do wear tiny clothes! I’ve sewn for my 6″ Hitty doll, so I don know!!
Congratulations to “Dr. Alba”!! We all knew she would do it!!
Have fun with your sisters this weekend!
First of all, a big CONGRATULATIONS to Dr. Alba!! I was thinking about her all day and hoping and praying for the best! What is she a Dr. of??
Oh, those itsy bitsy doll clothes are so cute, but hard to do, at least I think so! That was a stroke of luck or maybe genius to be able to make Navi a cute little sister outfit too! They are adorable together, and I can’t get over how their hair matches up so well!
So you are once again serving as the official Bed and Breakfast of Carbondale? Your sisters know very well the best place to go when visiting! I’ll send you a good recipe for an egg casserole that never fails to be a hit around here. By the way, I made my first batch of pickles the other day and had them for dinner last night along with some bratwurst that Michael grilled! Heavenly!
It looks like a bit of rain today, but that’s fine as long as it goes away quickly! Have fun finishing Navi’s outfit and preparing for your visitors!!
Linda has rain, but I have SNOW — probably the last of the season and very pretty. It’s sticking to everything but the streets and sidewalks and then we should have a week to mow lawns and garden, and we’ll need it.
The biggest congratulations to Dr. Alba!! One week in ER, the next week defending her dissertation. I hope her health is continuing to improve.
How cute your dolls are together. I can hardly wait to see both outfits complete.
Stay well, dry, and safe.
How cute! Love the sister outfits. Navi must be pleased.
Hope Alba gets the revisions done quickly. Will she have a graduation where all of the professors wear their full gear? Pretty neat to see. And what subject is Alba’s doctorate? Does she have a job waiting in Columbia? Has Sara had her graduation yet? Will she continue attending high school in Columbia? It is getting pretty close to their leaving for home.
How nice your sisters are coming again. Do they have lots of friends in Carbondale or staying with you? Either way, it will be nice for your mom. My uncle who has been in a care facility for a couple of months now, sleeps most of the time or falls asleep when he has visitors. Just part of the aging process.
Envious of Linda’s pickles. Sound so good and summery on this overcast dreary day.
And Linda, the new phone is a lot of fun. Took my first picture and found the replay button which is pretty exciting. Made other person look like he was pointing at something over and over while he talked. 🙂 Lots more to learn, but I can receive and send email from anywhere and so much more. Love it.
Joy, I’m glad you like your phone! It sounds like you are getting the hang of it already! I’ll get one, one of these days, but for now, I’m good!
I can’t wait to see the finished product of Bailey and Navi’s sister outfits. I have trouble sewing for my 8″ dolls. I can’t even imagine sewing for a 6″. I love the matching red hair with braids. They are both so cute.
Congratulations to Alba! I told hubby last night I can’t imagine anyone going for a doctorate, it’s so stressful. Defending a thesis seems like going before a tribunal. Scary! But I guess if you worked on something as long as Alba has, you pretty much know it inside and out and how to defend it. I second Joy’s questions on Alba.
I would also like to have Linda D’s egg casserole recipe if possible. And congratulations to her on making pickles. I did that a couple years when my son had a garden. We tried to keep it up after he left but one year we had no rain, the next we had too much. Hubby and I stay pretty busy and it seemed to be a time consumer with little in the way of results. We are both not from here and gardening for us is difficult. The people who’ve been here for ages seem to know how to do it but they say it takes constant attention. Unless it’s a matter of survival, I’d rather sew than garden.
I thought Marilyn lived in Colorado but I wasn’t sure where. Must be somewhere around Denver since I saw on the news last night they had snow in the area. My daughter used to live in Arvada so I’m in the habit of watching Denver weather. She moved to Loveland but I still watch the Denver weather. Can’t imagine snow in May, but then my daughter’s first year in Denver they had snow in September. Real culture shock for her.
It sounds like you’re in for a fun weekend with your sisters and your mom. Hope the weather is good for you and you have a great Mother’s Day weekend.
Barbara, I did send Jeanne my recipe for the Country Egg Casserole. Also, about the pickles, I myself don’t have a garden, but the recipe just calls for cucumbers, green peppers and onions, which you can find at any grocery store now. Jeanne has that recipe too. Maybe she will share it again. Very easy to make and so good!
Thanks Linda!
So happy for Alba! What a challenge of having to be in the hospital a week before her dissertation the following week. I wish her well and send congratulations.
Navi will be so cute in a similar outfit. Love that yellow print. She IS little ! Her clothes are so teeny tiny. How you make such tiny outfits is amazing. She’s a cute redhead. I really fall for the red haired dolls. They are my favorite usually.
Enjoy your family visit!
Jeannie” Navi and Bailey ARE sisters, adorable ones! I vacillated for DAYS over my desire to buy Navi, but in the end, her tiny body was the deciding factor. I can truly appreciate those set in sleeves! You are amazing!..
What I got to meet Mrs. Mary Hoyer she was 98 year old..I was struck by her beautiful hands…long and slender, and still quick like a bird. You have the same hands!
Please show your photos on the Meadow Fan FB group too..they are gonna be crazy for your two wild redheads!
So glad to hear that Alba’s presentation went well. I’m sure she is both thrilled and relieved to have all the hard work behind her.
Bailey and Navi make adorable sisters. You have so many dolls that work together for sets. A real advantage for a seamstress.
We got a nice shower today, but the prior three days have been superb!! I was able to get a few hours outside each one to make some headway in the yard work. Do to family needs, it’s been rather neglected for a few years and I’m hoping to get it back this year.
Congratulations to Linda on making pickles. I’m looking forward to getting out some of the summery recipes as well.
How wonderful that your sisters are coming for Mother’s Day. I hope all of you enjoy a special day with your mom.
OMGosh…they are so cute I can hardly stand it!! That tiny dress and pants are just adorable.
The best news about Alba too! Glad she was able to give her Thesis.
Your sisters visiting too!! What a fun few days ahead. Enjoy enjoy!
A bit late today but just wanted to say Congratulations to Dr. Alba!
Jeanne your Navi is so tiny I can’t image sewing for her and can’t wait to see the “sisters” outfits. You are a master at picking out just the right fabric that’s perfect for your girls.
