All I have is one picture for today but I hope it makes some of you very happy…it’s been a while since I made something for a BIG doll…namely an American Girl doll…it will seem like I’m sewing for a giant…but I’m sure it will all come back to me!
Felicity was next on my list and she looked at me with those beautiful green eyes of hers so I couldn’t skip over her name on the list.
I think this will make a lovely dress for her…I laid that vintage lace across it and “think” that is the one I will use but not 100% sure.
We went out with Edgar, Alba and Sara for one last meal… it’s funny…Alba wanted a cheeseburger, Edgar wanted a steak and Sara wanted ribs!
We had the nicest time visiting a place we went to when they first arrived here 5 years ago. We shared lots of memories and stories and pictures. Oh…and tears!
This might be a better shot of us all…

I’m glad to see that Felicity is next on your list. I have one, but her joints have gotten loose, so I haven’t had her out of her box much. I need to see if my friend Ken still does doll repair; he and his late wife Esther used to have the most wonderful doll shop, and Ken could repair almost anything! I did hear he had remarried, but haven’t heard any more in quite some time, so who knows?!
Anyway, I have to say, that fabric doesn’t really “grab” me–but there have been times when you’ve done that–chosen a fabric I wouldn’t necessarily look twice at–and it turns into the most incredible outfit!! So I will have to wait and see on this one!
As to the lace, I think I’d want to see several different ones; I like that pattern, but maybe it could be a bit more “aged”?? No, on second thought, and taking a closer look at the fabric, I do see that lighter color in the print, too. Didn’t catch that right off! On looking more closely, I see there is a deep red and a black in the print; I think black ribbons might be a nice accent. I would say red, but it might not look quite right against the teal, I don’t know.
Now see? Here I am, starting to plan Felicitiy’s new dress for you, and of a fabric that I might have passed right by!! I’m already starting to like it better!!

What a beautiful fabric for Felicity, Jeanne! I love the colors, so colonial looking! The lace is beautiful, but very white on my monitor, so is a bit jarring, but you see it in real life, and I do trust your judgment! Your Felicity has such delicate, soft coloring, so pretty! A lot of PC dolls look too faded to me, but yours is just perfect! Lucky you!
It was good to see you and George, together with our favorite Columbian family, sharing a big all American meal! It sounds like our American food has rubbed off on them! What was that on your and George’s plate? It looks like a big salad to me! I’m so glad you had the time together before they leave. Just as they have left a piece of themselves here, they will be taking a piece of you back with them. It’s all good!
So at 3:00 today, I will stop what I am doing and say a little prayer that they arrive safely back to their home in Columbia, and give you that big virtual HUG you will be needing!

I truly did get a sweet looking Felicity when I got her. I wish her hair was a little glossier, but it’s really okay…

George and I both got their Mesquite Grilled Chicken salad. We went to Logan’s Roadhouse. I’ve been getting that salad for about 15 years or more…love it!!
Actuslly they are heading to see Edgar’s sister in NJ before they fly home on June 9th…but today will be the last time we see them… I’ll take that hug…
They are waiting for their apartment to pass the cleaning inspection…then we’re going to share a piece of cheesecake I brought over.

I really like the material you chose for Felicity. I like the teal against her coloring- red heir, green eyes and get complexion. I like the lace, although I know you will be considering various laces. It’s a good start. Boy is Felicity a beautiful doll. I always fall for the red headed dolls.
I can imagine how you must be feeling today knowing Alba, Sara and Edgar are leaving for Columbia. You have developed a strong bond with them that will remain. I will be thinking of you and giving you a hug this afternoon. It surely will be a bittersweet moment. I wish their family a safe trip and much happiness in their future.

Oh, I love this fabric! Beautiful. I wonder how the lace would look tea dyed? Maybe more beige so it wouldn’t stand out quite as much. This dress will be lovely. 🙂
And finally the departure day has arrived. So sad. But, new adventures await for Sara. Do they fly out of St. Louis? Just curious. Many years ago I traveled to South America. In my early 20’s, the flight was fun, discovering who would be in our tour group and talking to others up and down the “wide” aisles. A Colombian girl, my age, all by herself, sat across from me. She was returning home to Bogota to her parents from school in the U.S. As we neared our destination, the seat belt lights came on, it became very turbulent, and the lights went off. Only then would we see the lightning outside the rain streaked windows. The party atmosphere turned silent, and as we descended in the light spiked darkness, a hand reached out to me across the aisle. We held hands across that aisle watching the lightning and feeling the jarring of the plane until miraculously, we touched down in the pouring rain of Bogota. I’ll always have that picture in my mind. Upon the bustle of arrival, our tour group was in one line where there was a snafu. Some paper was missing and our tour leader was negotiating. Across the way in another line, I saw the girl. She looked very upset that we were not being allowed to join the others. She waved and I too in return. It was the last time I ever saw her, but it makes our planet smaller whenever I think of the moment. Being Columbia, our tour group was finally released for the night to go to our hotel, but our tour leader was held hostage overnight until the correct paperwork could be sent from the U.S. Once that was over, the trip continued without too many further episodes, unless you count swimming in the Amazon just beyond where they fed the fish. EEK!

They are flying to NJ first to see Edgar’s sister who lives there. Then they’ll fly out of JFK in NY because they got great tickets from there. Today will be the last time we see them, but they won’t actually be leaving the US until June 9th… that’s the day they fly home.

Your followers are so kind in their opinions of the lace but no one was head over heels in love with it. That teal fabric is outstanding with her eyes and hair and what an unusual print. I’m sure it will turn out just as nice as your usual outfits!
A sad day to say a final Goodbye to your dear friends and that sweet Sara. Just remember all the wonderful things you taught Sara and all the help you gave her parents.

I am beginning work on my boy doll. Got out my base doll to remove the wig. I have 2 new wigs ordered. Still debating eye colors. Looking for hazel that isn’t so green. Wondering about painting some myself.
