I have the Colonial dress set ALL finished…BUT it was ALL dark outside when I got the necklace from Rebecca. So…I’m hoping for a sunny or better yet, a slightly cloudy day tomorrow for some pictures. It’s supposed to be 80 degrees with 5-10 mile per hour winds. That should probably be okay… I don’t think I’ll have Felicity/Caroline perched on top of that stool arrangement this time though. I have all night to think of the perfect place to take their pictures.
I’m going with the name “Colonial Charm” for this one… I’ve used it before, but when I saw it all put together, it just seemed like the right name.
Here are all the pieces to the set:
~ The dress… oh yes, you’ve already seen that… :o)
~ The necklace… Rebecca made a set of ivory pearls for the girls to wear.
~ The petticoat… Rows and rows of ruffles for just enough fullness to hold the dress out.
~ The mob cap… you can see the embroidery in the lace a little better in this shot.
~ The basket of apples… I know it’s not “quite” apple season, but it will be soon.
~ The straw hat… decorated with paper flowers and ribbon and lace…what could be prettier?
Let’s hope I don’t have any major interruptions in my day… I’d like to see this one complete and on Ebay…
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
It has all come together beautifully, Jeanne!! I really love that ruffly petticoat, especially! I also like that you just used that rust color on the sleeves; keeping all the rest of the flowers/lace/ribbons in the white or off-white shades makes the whole outfit look more summery, I think.
I hope everything is okay; you didn’t add your own remarks to others’ comments on yesterday’s blog, nor did you say anything about it tonight, and that’s unusual for you!
Hi Charlotte,
It was just a busy day…as was today…
I’m glad you like all the pieces.
Thanks Charlotte,
Blessings, Jeanne
Pretty, pretty, pretty, Jeanne! My first thought when I saw the layout of the whole outfit, was wow, that petticoat! I don’t recall you making one like that before, but I might not be remembering it. It reminds me of my 8th grade graduation crinoline, oh it was just beautiful, and was in pink! Trouble is, no one ever saw it, except me! 🙂
I recall you saying you were going to go out and find some matching flowers, and I was thinking colored ones, but oh, I love the white roses so much, and the lace ruffle too! I can’t wait to see how this beautiful outfit looks on Felicity or Caroline,….or Elizabeth! You sure will be busy dressing and undressing dolls!!
The pearl necklace is just perfect for this dress, and so in keeping with the colonial feel of the outfit. Oh yes, I see the detailing of the mob cap better, and really this outfit is one of the best you have created for Felicity!
Hi Linda,
I think I have made one or two of these ruffled petticoats… I think sometimes they are just fun instead of a boned crinoline.
I bet your crinoline… in pink…was beautiful!
I WAS busy dressing and undressing the girls…
What a day…it really did take me all day but I got it done…it’s … going on Ebay in about 15 minutes….
I had to help from my hubby and Rebecca deciding which doll was going to get her picture as the gallery picture for my listing. In the end my hubby thought the picture of Felicity showed the best color of the dress.
I hope he was right.
Blessings, Jeanne
The whole ensemble is wonderful. The hat is extra special and like the AG one in my pictures the other day as well as the Rebecca pearls. The bows match Felicity’s hair color which really tie the whole color scheme together for her. Please tell me the row upon row fabric for the petticoat came that way! I think this will be a top favorite when you do the retrospectives and ask which ensemble is the favorite.
I’ve always thought it was too much to ask of you to answer every email. Each of us writes just one note, but think if we had to answer every one like you usually do! Maybe one comment toward the end but not every entry is more than enough. Thank you for the daily blog. We all love it.
Hi Susette,
Yes, that petticoat fabric comes on a roll about 10 inches wide. I just bought 6 yards of it the other day at Hobby Lobby. It was in the clearance bin. I hope this doesn’t mean they are discontinuing it…I love using it.
Some days it’s easy to fit in answering the comments and some days, like yesterday, it just wasn’t possible. I always wonder how many comments it will come to that causes me to have to cut back…so far, I’m okay…
Thanks Susette,
Blessings, Jeanne
The ensemble is glorious, Jeanne. I’m in amazement that you can come up with such variety with each and every outfit. Reading your blog is more than eye candy…it’s an education in the development of ever creative outfits for a variety of dolls. Thank you so much!
Blessings.
Hi Becky,
Ooooo…I like that word. Glorious! Thank you!
You are way too kind with your compliments. Becky.
Thank you so much,
Blessings, Jeanne
Love this whole outfit. The hat is beautiful and the pearl necklace is the perfect piece of jewelry for the outfit. The material print is beautiful with the rust-colored ribbons. The ruffled petticoat, wonderful, and I like how you did Felicity’s hat with the ruffle accent and wide cream colored ribbon. I picture the women and young ladies back in the Colonial day’s thinking of ways to add accents to their dresses and accessories – especially if they wanted to dress up their clothing or set their outfits apart from others.
Just lovely Jeanne!
Thank you. Paula,
Thanks so much for the detailed compliments on every part of Felicity’s new dress set. I love how you notice all the little things I do…
Thank you again,
Blessings, Jeanne
Every piece is beautiful on its own.. together they make a spectacular outfit! The choice of pearls is the perfect finishing touch:)
Congratulations,Jeannie! You’ve created such a beauty! Lucky mommy who wins this one!💕
Hi Shara,
Wow…I’ve gotten a glorious and now a spectacular on this dress! I love it…thanks so much for your sweet comments!
Blessings, Jeanne
Well, when you put all of the pieces together for this set, it is quite amazing. Love the hat with white flowers and lace. Makes it so versatile. And Rebecca’s pearls are perfect.
Hope your weather is conducive to photos today. 🙂
Hi Joy,
My weather was nice today…maybe just slightly on the bright side…but I couldn’t wait for the afternoon to get cloudy and less sunny. It seriously took me all day to get these 3 girls dressed and undressed and photographed and on Ebay.
Thanks Joy,
Blessings, Jeanne
I hope the wind and weather cooperate because this is another outfit that’s going to be beautiful outside. I love all the cream you added — the whole outfit is lighter now and perfect for spring, but should work well for summer and fall as well. I like the skirt length — I think I said that before so I must really mean it. I’m looking forward to seeing the whole outfit together.
The first o f my mother’s blue iris has bloomed and the yellow iris should be amazing in a few days. There must be something in your yard that Felicity and Caroline are eager to stand next to and show off. Perhaps not a giant chicken. Bricks? What is more Williamsburg than bricks? Or maybe a gingerbread replica of Queen Anne’s capitol building.
People who do outdoor doll photography are so brave. I’ve wondered how many outfits have been ruined by a fall into mud.
Hi Marilyn
The weather was very nice today…I only wish there had been a little more cloud cover…some of my pictures are a little washed out from the sunlight.
I was hoping to get some pictures with our blooming Magnolia in the background but he blossoms were too high up in the tree to make them work…
I’ll figure out a way to get them in a picture eventually,
Blessings, Jeanne
I can’t wait to see the outdoor pictures. I love this ensemble. While I’m not much of a hat person, I can sure appreciate a beautiful hat when I see one and this hat is really lovely. The pearl necklace is perfect. I used to have pearl necklaces but don’t seem to anymore. This makes me want one. What exactly is the white ruffle that you used for the petticoat? Is it one piece or did you have to sew rows together? I have seen this as a single ruffle trim, but not as one piece. I have pink and red ruffled fabric but it doesn’t look like this.
Hi Barbara,
Thank you for your sweet compliments on this dress set.
The petticoat is made from some tulle that is about 10″ wide and already ruffled like that. I cut off the bottom ruffle so it wouldn’t show under her dress. I got 6 yards on sale st Hobby Lobby last week.
I’m hoping they stunt discontinuing it…I’ve made 2 or 3 petticoats like this in the past.
Thank you Barbara,
Blessings, Jeanne
Happy friday Jeanne!
“Colonial charm” is beautiful. Someone is going to be a very happy auction winner.
I saw your post on my meadow blog. I’m so sorry you have to relisted that sweet little outfit. I can’t believe someone would think that beautiful Bailey was included in the outfit listing. Lol obviously they don’t know that Meadow dumplings go for $500.00 … smh
I hope you are having a productive day and that little house isn’t on TV today *wink
Hugs
Ingrid
Colonial charm is the perfect name because it is an absolutely charming ensemble. That petticoat is so pretty! I’m itching to make one like it, but of course, I will have to have some doll-sewing time, which won’t happen soon. Everything in this set is beautiful.
Thank you Carolyn,
I’m so thrilled you like Felicity’s or Caroline’s, or Elizabeth’s dress so much. My auction is now on Ebay…yay!!
Thanks for your sweet compliments,
Blessings, Jeanne
Hi Ingrid,
Yes, Bailey’s outfit was returned to me, I returned her money, I listed it agsin, and thankfully….it sold within 2 hours. YAY!
I did have a productive day.. Lots of pictures taken, three different dolls showcasing the dress, and just 45 minutes ago, it was listed on Ebay. NO TV was watched today…too busy. But I did see an episode of Little House was on when my hubby changed channels as he was watching something else.
Thank you so much,
Blessings, Jeanne
Such a wonderful ensemble. It makes such a difference when the dress comes with all of the accessories and you do accessories so well…( and Rebecca too)
Hoping today was good for picture taking!
I’m going to see the opening of Shelley Thornton’s exhibit at the university in Lincoln tonight. She makes the most unusual beautiful dolls. I drool over the pictures so can’t wait to see a ” real one” Google her to see a fun few minutes of her creations
Thank you Kathie for sharing information about Shelley Thornton’s dolls. I just did a Google search. The dolls are amazing. Now I am drooling (chuckle).
Hi Kathie
Thank you very much for all your compliments on this dress set. I was glad to get all 3 girls in my pictures today…the weather did cooperate but it practically took me all day to dress and undress 3 dolls and photograph them. I was never so glad to get a dress listed…
I will take a few minutes and see her dolls
Thanks for the heads up!
Blessings, Jeanne
Dear Jeanne, the outfit is lovely. I love the basket and apples.
Well, I guess I have to let go of May. I was holding on so tight to it. June brings many joys for me: our doll club luncheon, World Doll Day, Madame Alexander Doll Club convention, and a tea with friends.
I just got a Tonner My Imagination “starter” doll. I don’t know how these dollies keep finding me. I don’t even have Facebook (laugh).
Hi Dorothy
Yes, it’s time to say goodbye to May…sorry to see it go…but maybe June has great things in store for us.
A new Tonner Imagination doll,….which one?
Send me a picture if you get a chance…
Thanks Dorothy,
Blessings, Jeanne
Elizabeth rocks! Love her photos. 🙂
Thanks Joy,
Actually, I thought ONE of those Elizabeth pictures might have been the best gallery picture.
Glad you liked her pics.
Blessings ,Jeanne
