Joy was kind enough to send me pictures of her Bailey (Amanda) and I wanted to show you her doll. She’s really sweet…as I imagine all the Bailey’s are! Thanks for sending pictures of her, Joy!
This is a closeup picture of a Bailey doll painted by Charlene Smith, which has the same face as Joys…only with a different wig on.
I really intended to get more pictures taken to show you the difference from yesterday till today, but I had too many things on my plate, so these few pictures will have to do… I’ll hopefully get more done and ready to show tomorrow. I am looking through my fabrics too, to see what her debut dress will be made from…
When you last saw Bailey, she had her faceup all complete, but the only eyelashes I had were some “Starlet” type ones, or what I started calling them, “Spider lashes!” Believe it or not, but when I showed them to my hubby, he liked them and said they made her look like a sweet little girl. That wasn’t exactly what I thought of when I looked at her… :o) Here are the first lashes…
I wanted something sweet, but something that still showed some of her bubbly personality in them. I went back to Walmart and found some adult lashes that were kind of spikey but not so terribly long as the first ones. I didn’t want them hitting her eyebrows… that was just too long.
You can see on the top lashes where I used the narrow end of the lashes and cut them to fit the inside of her upper eyelid. They were a little bit longer than 1/4″ in length. When I first glued them in they looked okay, but when I put her glass eyes in they pulled in on the corner of the left eye (looking at her) so there were no lashes on the left side on the narrowest part.
You can see in this next picture how the lashes were pulled in on the left side next to her nose… (looking at her.)
It looked a little funny, so I took her eye out and saw where it had been pulled in, and pushed it back out… that helped even things up.
So she ended up looking like this…
I tried this little red bob wig on her and she said, “Yes, please!”
I haven’t even made a single thing for her and I’m so smitten with her, I can hardly stand it!
I must have pulled out 10 wigs from my stash and think she can wear them all! YAY! Next I’ll check out the shoes!
Thanks so much for being so patient with me these last few weeks… I think my life is slowing down just a bit… lots of loose ends that needed to be taken care of… but my list is getting shorter! YAY again!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh, now I really Love that wig on your Bailey! That cute short style I love, and RED! I think these lashes are better, too–still a bit on the long side, but then our grandson Isaac has incredible eyelashes Just Like That!!! He’s 17 now (how did That happen?!) and has always had the most gorgeous eyelashes. Lucky guy!!
Big thanks to Joy for sharing the picture of her sweet Amanda!! I love her look, also, as well as the one painted by Charlene Smith.
Could it be possible that I am getting hooked????
HI Charlotte,
I like the little red bob on Bailey too… I tried on several others, but for her debut picture, I liked the red wig.
I LOVE long eyelashes on guys… it makes them sweeter I think! :o)
I think you just might be getting dolly fever…look out Charlotte, I hear it’s contagious! :o)
Thanks so much!
Blessings, Jeanne
ADORABLE
I love her sweet face with these eyes and lashes. This looks so fun.
The “star eyelashes”? Your hubby liked them, hahaha …. men. They are a hoot but we love them and I know you are grateful for his interest.
Bailey looks so adorable Well done. Yes, we all have a zillion things to do.
…. Priorities, or something like that, I’ve heard. I am not sure how that works
Thank you Rosemary,
She is a lot of fun, and I haven’t even really started with her yet! She is just so cute and adorable even naked laying flat on my table.
I was really surprised that my hubby liked those longer eyelashes, but he said he did. When he walked in and I was changing them, he said, “but I liked the other ones..” I told him the new ones were still cute, but not quite so long… He admitted he liked the new ones.. Whew!
Thanks Rosemary,
Blessings, Jeanne
She looks wonderful! Much better than those spiky lashes.
Becsure and have a talk with Bailey about the importance of standing and holding poses.! Lol
HI Shara,
Thanks so much for your sweet words.
I think I better give Bailey the talk where I let her know she’s just a “model” and the things she wears aren’t HERS… but someone else’s. I hope she understands… as long as she behaves she’ll get to wear pretty things… :o)
Thanks Shara,
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh, she is a cutie! Looking more and more like her mommy everyday. π Great wig too. Just shows off her vibrant personality.
My Amanda is waving Hi, and can’t wait to meet in Dollyland. π
I have the second wig on order, so we’ll see how it fits/looks. I was unable to find an 8/9 so hopefully it won’t be too small. I think it is now discontinued though. Some of the Meadow Dumplings can wear 7/8 or 8/9. We’ll see. The second wig is more of a reddish tone which I like.
Lash glue? What kind of glue did you use on the lashes as one of my Tella’s has a loose one and I have not attempted to repair it. So tiny. You are a miracle worker doing that great face up.
I’m trying to get the girls and Nicco dressed for Easter, but haven’t gotten very far. I wonder if anyone else has their dolls set up for spring/Easter?
We’re taking a load to the recycling place at the dump today. They resell items very cheaply. Doesn’t a dump run on a beautiful spring day sound like fun? Maybe…
Thanks Joy,
Weren’t YOU the one who introduced me to the Meadow dolls? I think you were… and I’m SO SO glad you did. I am just crazy about her. I can’t wait to see what I come up with her!!! I don’t know when I’ve been so excited to sew for someone! :o)
Most of the wigs I tried on Bailey were 7/8, ones I have for my Little Darlings, but the red one I showed the other night, was a Kana Wild and it’s an 8/9. I’ll have to do a wig showing soon… just so you can see how versatile she is! I’m SO excited…did I already say that?
I just use Aleen’s tacky glue… the quick set one… and it worked fine…really grabbed well.
My hubby just took a load to the dump yesterday… good thing he went then… as it’s been raining all day here… PERFECT sewing weather! :o) :o)
Thanks Joy,

Oh, gosh, Joy, thanks for the reminder! I need to get my LDs ready for Easter, and pictures taken. I finally did get the last two dresses finished! Still need to crochet two more Easter baskets, but maybe we can “fake it” this time!!
Bailey with that wig and those lashes is one sweet girl! I loved the light blonde wig too…they both fit her personality.these lashes are the right length too.
Still waiting for my Paiola Reina…itβs been over a month but at least the tracking has her in this country now.
Nothing like a new doll to make your day! Good job! Maybe you should offer your services to those who are uneasy about painting their Meadow?
HI Kathie,
I liked Bailey in that blonde wig too… I’ll have to do a wig show soon… Glad you like her new lashes too! :o)
I hope your Paola dolls gets here soon… so she can join in on the Easter festivities I’m sure that will going on at your house! You’ll have to send me a picture of your table setting for Easter… (if it’s at your house!) :o)
I think I better not offer my services to anyone… too much stress to do someone else’s doll and I’m such a beginner… but I did enjoy brining her to life!
Thanks Kathie,
Blessings, Jeanne
You could do one for me…I think you are great at it!
My DIL is doing Easter…Bless her heart! I’m sure she will make it festive for us…and will send a pic :0)
Bailey has such sweet, starry eyes, that’s one of the many things I like about her. Your girl is darling, and the red bob is perfect! Mine is in a brunette mohair wig, which I like. π She’s also slightly darker, she’s the honey or sunkissed, I think. Patti is fair and just a little cherub.
Thank you Melody,
I like her eyes too… I call them “smiling eyes!” Glad you like them! :o)
I better see how I do selling her clothes before I consider another one… My Bailey is the honey color…and I really like it… I think my Navi is fair…
Thanks Melody,
Blessings, Jeanne
Bailey just gets better looking every day. I love the red short wig. I spent part of my afternoon yesterday on the Monique website going through all the choices and writing down my preferences and the numbers. I don’t have a wig stash, so I’m starting from scratch. I have an “antique” doll that could seriously use a new hairdo as could my other “antique” doll I got from a garage sale. I re-wigged my vintage Ginny but that was easy. Just look up Ginny wigs. For my other two dolls I need to measure. I picked a couple wigs out for them, but I need the size before I order. I really never thought much about changing wigs until I started reading this blog. Now I’m anxious to get started on that.
Yay!! I finished the last Easter dress yesterday just in time for Easter. Betsy is loving her new dress, but I will say the next time I make the pattern I’m going to do the bodice differently. It’s done by sewing together strips of fabric and then cutting the bodice pieces. That might work great if you get the pattern piece on the striped fabric just right, but if you don’t you lose the bottom stripe. It came out looking more like piping. I’m going with it for now, but the next time I’m just going to cut out the bodice pieces from the main fabric and use ribbon, trim or rick-rack and embellish it that way. It will be easier to control the look that way. Cute dress though, even with the “mistake”.
I will take pictures of the girls in their Easter finery sometime soon. Not sure exactly how I want to do it. Most of the outfits I made myself, but the tiny dolls are wearing purchased outfits. They, of course, want to be in the picture too. That makes 22, or is it 23, to pose. I have two concerts and a dress rehearsal next week and then after that my time is freed up some, so I will be focusing on seeing what I can come up with in the photography area.
HI Barbara,
Fortunately, I have quite a big stash of wigs, but I still look every once in a while to see if there is something I can’t live without. I hope you find the perfect wigs for your girls!
Congratulations on getting your Easter sewing done… you are way ahead of me… guess there’s always next year! *sigh* But I’ve got 4th of July, Summer, Back to School, Fall, Thanksgiving, and Christmas dresses to make! Yay… I better get started…and don’t forget to send me some pictures of your girls all dressed up in their Easter finery!
Thanks Barbara,
Blessings, Jeanne
Joy’s Bailey Amanda is just darling, as is her romper. Did you make it, Joy. If so, which pattern did you use. Really cute.
I love the red wig on the doll. What an artist you are, Jeanne! What size wig does Ten Ping wear? What size for LDs?
One of my grandson’s eyelashes are long too. Wish mine were, but he inherited that from the Indian side of the family. Fortunately my granddaughter has long eyelashes, too, but not as long as his.
HI Susette,
Now that I have a Dumping… I can see why they are so popular… they are so poseable and such cuties… I ‘m sure if I had the money, I’d be buying more… but for now… I’ve got a Twinkles (Navi) and one Dumpling (Bailey) and that will have to do…
I’m sure Joy can give you the name of the pattern for the romper… It’s a lady on Etsy, but I have seen the pattern…It’s pretty cute.
I’m glad you like Bailey’s wig… I have lots more too in the size 7/8 and a few 8/9 so I don’t think I’ll have to buy any wigs in the near future… I have every color and style.
Ten Ping takes a 5/6 I think and the Little Darlings are a 7/8. It’s nice that Bailey can wear so many of my LD wigs… that’s a big help.
I love seeing long eyelashes on little kids but also on the big kids… there’s just something so sweet when you see a young man with long lashes… somehow I think it makes them seem sweeter! :o)
Thanks Susette,
blessings, Jeanne
Hi Susette. I didn’t make the romper. Wish I had as I love it. I have been trying to sew something for my Meadow Stella May who is 16″. I’m going to try and get a picture tomorrow if all goes well. π
