Just so you know: I relisted Samantha’s “Coral Cascade” and Ten Ping’s “Easter Princess” dresses on Ebay this evening… dropped the prices and changed them to a Buy It Now if you were interested… you can click on the pictures at the right side bar or you can click HERE and HERE to see them on Ebay.
AND…AND…AND… did you see???…no 20% http:// by your comments today… I fixed it myself! Thank you very much! It was an upgrade that needed to be updated and as soon as I clicked on it, it was fixed! Yay! Cake for everyone! But you’ll have to find your own!!! :o)
Now don’t think I did miracles in my sewing room today because I didn’t, but I did make it in there and piddled around trying to decide what fabric to use for the next doll dress. Then I had to decide on a pattern and lace and figure out how I was going to make it pretty! I won’t tell you just yet, who it’s for, but I’ll show you what we decided on! I tried to talk her into a pretty pastel since Easter is coming up, but she insisted on this navy blue print with the vintage lace and the little lace up applique. Maybe you have a guess who it will be for…
Here is all I got done…I’ll just warn you… it’s measly…but it’s a start.
Oh, and here is a pattern I received in the mail…it’s for a 20-21″ doll, but I think I can solve that problem… I think it will make a beautiful American Girl Civil War dress one of these days… I just wanted to show you…
Thanks everyone,
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Good to see you back in your sewing room again, Jeanne!! I really like that lace with that particular fabric; it’s the right color, and has the right “feel” to it.
I’m guessing it’s for Molly, or possibly Kit? (I can’t remember if you have Kit or not…) Or maybe Addie???
Oh, yes, that’s a wonderful Civil War-era pattern style! Maybe you could just copy the pieces at, say 96% or something, to get the pieces the right size for the AG dolls? Might be easier than trying to scale it down manually.
Anyway, welcome back; hope you continue to feel better and get stronger!
HI Charlotte,
I found the lace at an antique store down in Kentucky a few years ago and just love the looks of it too! Somehow it does look right with this fabric.
Nope…not Molly or Kit… or Addy… :o)
I think I can reduce the pattern size and make it work.. I thought it was just so pretty and had to buy it. I can see it some soft pretty fabric that shows off all those gathers… Soon!
Thanks Charlotte,
I’ve felt pretty good today… maybe 50% better…
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh, I love the navy and white material, and remember when you bought it and had it on display! No, I don’t think that would be for Molly, as Charlotte mentioned. I think it would be beautiful on Rebecca, though! I really don’t know, the way you weave your magic, it could be for almost anyone! We just have to wait and see!
Love the pattern too! That will be a wonderful outfit for Addy, or even Rebecca, even though she really isn’t a Civil War doll.
This really is short, but I have my grandson coming early this morning, and have to get going. Spring break!
HI Linda,
I’ll keep you all in suspense for a little while longer and make you ponder who this might be for… This was one of the prints Cindy sent me… It’s very pretty in person and is a dark navy blue.
I hope the pattern goes together quickly when I make it.. Once you get the gathers all done, it should just go together like any other dress… I’m hoping…
Have fun babysitting today… Willie?
Blessings, Jeanne
Yep! ?
So glad you’re feeling better Jeanne.
Thank you Joy,
It’s been a rough couple of days… so I’m glad for any little improvement I can get! :o)
See you Sunday,
Blessings, Jeanne
So glad you’re feeling better.
Congrats to figuring out the %20. You are becoming a computer genius. 🙂 Must add this to the resume.
That Brown House pattern is lovely. Whenever I see them on ebay, I always wonder about them. Now, we may actually see one in use in the future.
In the photo of the pattern on top of the fabric the color appears to be a royal blue and the first photos faded denim and navy. Maybe an outdoor shot would show the true color of the fabric which I think is one of my favorites. Simple and elegant. I also really like the vintage lace for the border. Not sold on the modern piece on the bodice, but I’m sure when everything comes together it will be fabulous. Oh, I just noticed the selvage of the fabric which says French Miniature. Maybe this will be a perfect dress for that young French visitor. 🙂
Raining here. Knocked over all of the daffodils. 🙁
HI Joy,
I was thrilled when I figured out an update was all that was needed to fix the 20% thingy… I had to write Sarah back and tell her “I figured it out myself!” Yay!
I hope I can get pattern to work for me and look as pretty as the picture does. The AG dolls don’t have a waistline like the antique dolls do, so sometimes the dresses look a bit flat to me… I hope this one doesn’t.
My lighting looks different when I have my camera further away from the fabric. It’s a pretty navy blue with tiny cream details. I think the lace up applique might work, but it will probably go on last so I might have to change it up…
You’ll have to wait and see who it’s for too… I’m stalking the mailbox as I write these comments. Where is Bailey??? I thought maybe the blank ones might go out first… but guess not.
I saw where you tried to win a Mae doll… but it didn’t happen… because of paypal… sorry you missed out on her. The more I see her face, the more adorable she looks.
Sorry about your drooping daffodils… I bet Haviland is too!
See you later,
Blessings, Jeanne
After what you’ve been through I think this is a wonderful start. And where did you find that wonderful lace-up applique? I really like that and would love some myself. I thought I had every trim that was ever made. Funny thing though is that whenever I’m making something it seems I never have exactly what I’m looking for. I’m nearly finished with Lauryce’s dress (ran into a problem the other day that slowed me down). I’ve decided to just finish it and then embellish it. I embroidered an accent flower on the front, so I need to find something that doesn’t take from that. Have a color in mind but everything I have in that color is too big. I haven’t given up yet. I may need to pick up another color from the dress (light blue vs. deep blue).
Someone mentioned the other day it was hard to find small laces for doll clothes. I have them in nearly every color. I got them at Home Sew. They also have zippers, etc. for doll clothes. It’s in Bethlehem where I used to live. I remember my mom shopping there. It was always great but it’s better than ever.
I love the Brown House pattern. It should make up lovely. I have several patterns for 20-22″ dolls. The clothes are beautiful and very vintage looking. I’ll have to check and see where I got them. Speaking of downsizing the pattern with the printer, I’ve forgotten to change the print size on several patterns and ended up printing them either too big or too small. I fixed the problem but kept the “mistakes” to use for other dolls.
So glad you’re up and running again. Can’t wait to see the next steps on the dress and who it’s for. I can’t even begin to guess.
HI Barbara,
I’m with you…ANYTHING is better than laying in bed with a headache!
The lace up appliques came from a lace store in Manhattan NY… They had a close out one time on small items and I got some of them…
I usually do my embellishing last…that way I can see what I need and don’t need… it usually works best that way for me. I hope you find the perfect accents for Lauryce’s dress. I always wanted to get her… I thought she was so pretty… I ended up with Nahji for a while but then sold her.
I love looking at the Brown House doll patterns too and have a few in my collection, but none I’ve been so excited to give a try as this one… Let’s hope it works when I resize it for Addy…
Thanks Barbara,
Have a wonderful day!
Blessings, Jeanne
Working with a headache is much worse than lying in bed with one. I had a friend who tied a cloth tightly around her head. Another friend wondered why she did that — he thought it looked stupid. I asked. She said it made her feel like her head would not explode and fly apart from her headache. I told him and he never complained about the way she looked again. Eventually they found the cause and cure, but it was a long journey I was grateful to avoid.
Hm. That probably didn’t make you feel better at all.
I am glad you are back in the sewing room. I think the dress is for Lian, Isabelle, or Janie. I think Janie in a blond wig would look great in that dress for Easter.
It’s the new pattern that I want to see you working on. “Easy Sew Designs.” Hm, again. If this is easy, I want to see one of their “Challenging Sew Designs.” It does look as if it will be beautiful, and I’ll bet you have the perfect fabric.
Stay well.
Hi Marilyn,
Tying a scarf around my head seems like a pretty good idea. I should have tried it the other day…it really did seem like it was going to explode!!! But, thankfully…it didn’t!!
Well, I’m still going to keep it a secret, who this dress is for until tomorrow…then you’ll all see… :o)
I hope the Easy Sew pattern is just what the name implies…I guess we’ll see!!!
Thanks Marilyn,
Blessings, Jeanne
I’ll bet you were happy to make it to your sewing room. How did the dolies fare without you? Did they have a wild party with the toy box?
Sweet start to the next outfit. It’s difficult to see the size, but I’m going to guess it’s for Isabelle or Janie… an LD dress anyway.
Oh, I LOVE that Civil War pattern. Can’t wit to see you use that one.
Hi Laura
I WAS happy to make it into my sewing room…it just feels like everything is normal when I’m in here…that’s where I am right now… :o)
You’ll find out tomorrow who the dress is for…no hints allowed!! :o)
Thanks Laura
Blessings, Jeanne
That was a nasty bug you had….so glad it is getting better.
The lace you have with that fabric is perfect. I think it would be pretty on any doll!
I’ve seen those patterns too and have a couple but they haven’t been just right for the dolls I was repairing. It will be interesting to see if you like it.
Still putting the basement back together after our little flood. I can’t even imagine a whole house with everything you have worked so hard for…especially if it got in all your fabric. The water that covered our sons lake house looked like Hershey syrup…. good thing my DIL isn’t a sewer.
Hi again…just saw the lace apron you made on the navy dress and I think I did send it to you….it looks great ! So pretty with that fabric!
