I managed to get Caroline’s new Regency dress listed on Ebay Wednesday evening, so you can now see all my pictures. This listing might have the most pictures of any auction I’ve ever listed. I think there are 34. Yikes! I tried desperately to narrow them down, but I’d have 2 similar pictures side by side trying to decide and one would have her looking down and the other one was almost identical but she was looking a bit to the side. I just couldn’t eliminate the ones that were clear and sweet and showed her off so well. I guess you can be glad I didn’t use ALL the ones I had. I started out with 118! Yes, I did… One Hundred and Eighteen pictures!! So you should breath a sigh of relief that I didn’t use all those! :o) (I would never do THAT to you!)
If you’d like to see the listing, you can click on the picture of her at the right side bar or you can click HERE.
Here’s a few more because I can’t get enough of her…She has her curls back and they look just as lovely as before… maybe even BETTER…
My sister, Cindy, sent some fabric to me by way of Amy. They are all small prints and are VERY pretty… I put Elizabeth’s shoe on one of the pictures so you could see the scale of the print.
Kathie sent me a paper pattern from last years Doll News Magazine. It was the Fall 2018 issue. She told me I “really” should pick up a copy if I could find one because it had so much inside to look at. Well, I took her up on that suggestion and received it at least 2 weeks ago, but just now had the opportunity to look inside and see what was in there. It’s late and I thought I’d just share a few things that caught my eye.
There were lots of dolls in dresses that might give me ideas for future dresses.
Here are a few more…
There are LOTS of pages like this in this particular issue. I thought it might be fun to sit down with it and see if can spot anyone I know. I think those are pictures from doll conventions… I might find YOU in a picture!
Well, that’s going to be it for today!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Wow, that is a Lot of pictures to take!! But then, Caroline is very photogenic!!
What lovely fabrics!! And such a nice scale, too–small enough prints (for the most part) to use for even smaller dolls. (Ten Ping asked me to remind you, her favorite color is PINK!! But she likes that lavender one, too!)
I’m not longer a UFDC member, so you won’t find me in that Doll News, but I know at least one or two of your readers surely must be, so maybe….!!
By the way, I heard today my machine won’t be back in town until Friday; apparently the repair guy had more snow around his town than we did, and has had trouble getting out. However, I’d rather have him safe, and get my machine back in one piece, too, so I’ll try to be patient! I’ve been using my “new” Featherweight this month!
Hi Charlotte,
Yes, I think I went a little camera happy!!!
I do remember you saying Ten Ping liked pink…thanks for the reminder!
Maybe you could spend your time cutting out things until your machine is back…just a thought!
Thanks Charlotte,
Blessings, Jeanne
I love the blues in the fabric photos, especially the first ine. It isn’t easy to find tiny prints which will work well for dollies.
Hi Christal,
I like that blue fabric too… it’s kind of a striped trellis design and it’s pretty navy color.
It’s nice to open things that are a surprise when you see them in person!!! I like them all very much!
Thanks Christal,
Blessings, Jeanne
Well, Jeanne, I can’t seem to get to your EBay listing, so will have to wait till it gets fixed or something.l. When you click onto the word HERE it only enlarges one picture of
Caroline, no words or anything. How do I find it on EBay?
The material is just perfect for dolls! I think the lavender one would make a pretty
Easter dress for someone!
I absolutely love that brown plaid dress that is from the magazine! Hmmm, do you have a brown plaid?? The others seem to be very detail oriented, and full of laces, buttons and trims, that probably are vintage and very costly, if you can find them! I can’t imagine giving a little girl a doll dressed like that!
Well, we are going to see the sun today, you know, that big yellow circle in the sky that has been missing for a long time! Finally, and warmer too!
Fixed the link Linda….thanks!
Hi Linda,
I thought I double checked that link to my Ebay listing, but apparently I didn’t. Thanks for pointing it out to me. All is well now
I love that brown plaid dress too… what a very pretty style! I’m going to have to check out my plaids now!!!
St. Louis must have a monopoly on the sun, because we haven’t seen it at all today…totally cloudy here.
Thank you Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
I too tried the link by clicking on the photo as usual, and it does not work. Your link in the post does work. The other photos do work and send you to completed listings.
I really like that navy/cream stripe fabric in the first photo which would make a lovely dress. Some of the others are a little too busy for my taste, but might be cute on one of the tiny ones. Maybe a cute sundress or a crop top and shorts made from the pink or purple. Or maybe both fabrics together 🙂
We have frost, but sun is shining. Hope it is warmer than yesterday. I was cold all day. So much for sunny CA.
Hi Joy,
Well, my goodness, I can’t believe I got BOTH of the links wrong. They are fixed now. I’ll have double check things from now on… I thought I checked both of them… I must have been really tired last night to have missed both of them. Thanks for the heads up!
I’ll have to see who is next up… (Nyssa?) or someone else and see if that navy print will work for one of them. I do like one too and there are 2 pieces of it.
I should follow my advice to Charlotte and cut out a bunch of things and then sew on them as I have a chance. That way, I’d have something ready to go without thinking about it.
I hope you get warmed up…we are pretty chilly here… 37 but feels colder than that!
Thanks Joy,
Blessings, Jeanne
I couldn’t get to the listing through the picture either, but I could click on HERE and get there fine. Lot’s of wonderful pictures. She is truly a lovely doll. I don’t have any American Girl dolls. My 18″ doll is a Madam Alexander named Gracie. I bought her years ago because I wanted to make clothes to sell. I made some really cute things. That didn’t work out too well and I still have most of the clothes so I might put some of them on Etsy – I really need to do this. But as I acquired my H4H dolls I realized I really like sewing for the smaller dolls and now I have a Wellie Wisher too. For the more modern (that would be mid-1900s on) clothes I like to make, I like sewing for them the best. For the type of clothes you do, Jeanne, the 18″ American Girl dolls show them off really well. I think their size is an advantage.
The dilemma about finding small-scale prints is too true, but I can’t figure out why they are hard to find because so many people sew for dolls these days. Jo Flitton of Jo’s Doll Shoppe always managed to find really small prints for her 8″ Heartstring Dolls and Tiny Betsy. Many of them “themed”. I asked her once if she had them printed up special. She said she traveled a lot and found them here and there in quilt fabric shops. Since I don’t like sewing clothes for small dolls, I relied on Jo to outfit my smaller dolls. Jo has health issues now and is not selling her Heartstring dolls anymore and not creating any new outfits. This saddens me because I really enjoyed checking out her website regularly and buying when I could, and I really wanted to add to my Heartstring doll collection. Her things were irresistible. You can still buy things she’s already designed, but I have so many of them, I’m running out of things to buy. I do not know how she is doing these days but I pray for her every day. She is looking for someone to buy her doll business. The sculpt was done by Dianna Effner. They are around 8″ and lovely little dolls. If I were younger I might be interested in buying her business, but I don’t have the energy for that type of endeavor these days.
Further on the scale of prints, I can’t tell you how many times I have bought a print online thinking it was fairly small and when I got it, well Gracie has several new dresses lined up so I can use them on someone. Since they are fat quarters, I can’t use them for much else.
Hopefully you will sell your Caroline ensemble at a good price. It is definitely high value. Then you can give the good news to Caroline, since I’m sure she’s a little confused, as well as a bit chilly, about what happened to her beautiful new dress.
Hi Barbara,
Thank you for your kind comments about Caroline’s dress set. I really enjoyed making it…of course it’s always fun making a doll’s debut dress.
I’m in my sewing room again trying to come up with something again for Nyssa. I don’t know why I am having such a hard time with finding a fabric that I like this time. Usually it’s not this hard.
I know what you mean about small prints.
They can be hard to find so when I do find something I like, I usually go for it.
I think my other girls have already let Caroline know how things work around here. She seems okay about it ….for now…
Thanks Barbara ,
Blessings, Jeanne
Caroline is beautiful, and her dress is exquisite!
Nyssa would be a great “next up” as many of us have just received our Sienna Wiggs girls and she’s really in need of clothing.
That brown windowpane plaid looks perfect for a “Jeannie Inspiration!”
HI Shara,
It’s funny that you should mention Nyssa, as that’s who I have been looking at and gathering up some fabrics… I think I’m just going to make something and “hope” everyone likes it. I have 2 fabrics picked out and I’m gathering up all the things I’d need to finish them.
I looked at my brown plaids and I’m “fresh out” but I do have other plaids that might work. I’ll have to think about that.
Congratulations on your new Sienna Wiggs girl… I don’t know what she looks like so I’ll have to check it out. I’m out of the loop on so many dolls now.
Thanks Shara,
I hope you are having fun with your Sienna… I’m sure you are!
Blessings, Jeanne
I’m having computer problems, so don’t worry if you don’t hear from me.
I too like that brown plaid — as soon as I saw it, I thought — There! That’s for Jeanne. I am also a fan of that navy fabric that others commented on.
I’d better keep moving — I have no idea how long the computer will last this time.
HI Marilyn,
Linda told me you were having computer problems…UGH! I know about that all too well.
I hope you have someone who can fix yours quickly and get back to the fun around here!
We’ll miss you if you have to stay away while things are getting worked out!
Blessings, Jeanne
