Pretty Blue Cupcakes

Hi everyone,
Before I get started with what I have to share, Jane, one of my subscribers, is looking for a pattern to make this dress. If you know where it can be found, can you please let me know. She sent these 3 pictures to me to help us find it…

I had every intention of writng a fun post for today, but it’s now 12:13 p.m. and I really should be in bed, but I have to share “something” with you.

I have a BIG baby shower tomorrow from 1:00 until 4:00 and if it’s not over by then I have to leave to go to a birthday party.

I was asked to bring cupcakes and my strawberry salad to the baby shower and corn cassrole to the birthday party.

I was busy in the kitchen all afternoon and evening…so I’m sorry, but instead of working on Nyssa’s blue dress and showing those pictures, I only have pictures of my blue cupcakes…

I don’t have a cupcake carrier so I had to figure out a way to get them there without them sliding around in the box.
I took my largest shipping box and taped chopsticks in rows to keep them from touching each other. I can only hope it works.

I do have something fun to share with you…hopefully Monday! I just might find some time for Nyssa’s dress too!!

Now I really must get to bed!

See you Monday,
Blessings,Jeanne

That is a lovely little dress! I can see why Jane wants the pattern!! I’ll be watching the responses to see if anyone has the source–I might need that pattern too!!

Your blue cupcakes are so pretty!! Are those tiny edible “pearls” sprinkled amongst the curlicues of frosting!! Just lovely.

How did the chopstick thing work for you? Hm, you do cupcakes often enough, maybe a cupcake carrier would be a good investment for you.

Still don’t have my favorite machine back–I called today, and he wasn’t able to get there today, so she said “late afternoon tomorrow” (Saturday). I’ll be there! 😉

  2. Thank you Jeanne for putting those photos up. l’ve looked at many pattern sites, and last evening – the one Jeanne asked what we were doing- I scrolled through the AG patterns on Etsy. “Size doesn’t matter” I’m happy to resize for little darlings.
Very splendid cupcakes! Far to beautiful to eat without admiring them first. Hope the chopstick dividers work. Hadn’t heard of cupcake carriers so I googled. The one I would choose is collapsible (for storage) and will also carry a round or square big cake. Is it difficult to get the ingredients for Jeanne’s Strawberry Salad in the snow season?
Hope you have a nice time at your parties.

  3. OH, what a feast for the eyes, Jeanne! Such a pretty blue, and oh, so delicate looking! I certainly don’t do cupcakes like that, and wonder how you did the icing, getting it to look like pretty ruffles? Some special kind of tool? Do tell!

Yes, I too, would consider getting a cupcake carrier, for all the baking you do. I will be making cupcakes for our Lenten fish fry, and can only hope mine are half as pretty! That’s a good idea you used to keep them separated, but I have no chopsticks to speak of, so mine go in a pan with a covered lid, and a wing and a prayer! Church isn’t far away, so it works pretty well for me, and then again, my cupcakes are not THAT fancy!

And, yes, I would like that recipe for Strawberry Salad. Jane, no, not difficult to get strawberries around here. My grocery store has lots of them, and I don’t live that far from Jeanne. Of course, the strawberries come from somewhere else!

Have fun at your shower, which I presume is for a little boy, and the birthday party! We will be here waiting to hear how they went!

    1. HI Linda,
The cupcakes are super easy to do… I might do a video on them one of these days.
I’ll share my strawberry salad recipe too.. .maybe next week.
Joy and Shara found the dress pattern for Jane… see below.

  4. Sorry I didn’t comment on the darling dress, but those pictures didn’t show up for me until I commented, THEN they show up!! Darling dress, but no idea what pattern they come from, but then, I don’t sew clothes for LD dolls, and hardly any for 18 inchers either. I hope you find it!

  5. How interesting as I too have been looking for that pattern! I want the version with a one piece bodice/sleeve that is like the black/white photos. Just yesterday, My Meadow, who makes the dolls, had two of her girls wearing the same pattern. It was for her 11″ Dumplings. So, someone has the pattern. If Jane finds, I hope she will share with us.

Very pretty cupcakes. Perfect for a shower. Hope you don’t take any fast corners between your place the the shower location. 🙂

Sounds like a busy Saturday. Have to wrap some things for the birthday girl today as tomorrow we head to the grands to celebrate a big 6. I don’t think her cupcakes/cake will be as lovely as yours though.

    Have a fun weekend.

  6. Hi Jeanne – was so excited to see your post pop up today on time – Yeah!! Your cupcakes look beautiful and soooo yummy! I am not a very good baker and even less with the frosting so I am envious and now I have a sugar craving :o).
I have not seen the pattern you showed for LD but I would also be interested. I will keep my eye out and hope Jane is successful in her hunt.
    Wishing all a great weekend

    1. HI Leigh,
I posted a picture of the dresses, made by Carol Pringle, down below.
I’m glad my post arrived on time today!

  7. Gorgeous cupcakes for a sweet little baby boy who is almost here:) Jeannie, you definitely need s cupcake carrier?
I’m awaiting the birth of MY first Great grandson ..should be this weekend! His mommy was due yesterday.

That dress was made by Carol Pringle. It’s her most favorite pattern for the Little Darlings. She may have created it herself or tweaked a Betsy MCCall 14” pattern. I’ll have to check my pattern files.. I may have it or something very close with the bodice/sleeve combo:) I’ll post a photo when I find it.,

    1. I agree that the black/white photos are Carol Pringle. In fact, I am now sure that she also made the cute dresses I saw on the Meadow facebook. I looked at the retro Betsy 4334 which could be tweaked. Farm Cookies has one called Orange Blossom that may work too with a little modification. Would love to see what you find. 🙂

    2. Thanks to you and Joy, I updated the info Joy found below. Thanks for getting the search started! :o)

  8. Those blue cupcakes are absolutely beautiful! They look like flowers. You are so talented! I’m sure everyone at the shower will love these and having them just sit on the table will add to the pretty decorations.

Aldo, been busy and didn’t get to comment on Caroline’s outfit. It is just beautiful. I love the colors, the ribbons and their colors, her gloves and the lace. He headpiece is just beautiful and I must say, you curled her hair beautifully. Her blonde curls are gorgeous!
Hope you can get to bed a little early one of these days. You give of yourself so much- you are truly a blessing to so many people and we readers feel that too.
Looking forward to hearing your news on Monday.

    1. HI Paula,
I think the cupcakes sort of looked like Hydrangea blossoms. I’d like to mix my icing so it’s a bit two-toned and see how they look.
Joy and Shara figured out the pattern Jane was looking for. I have it pictured below.
I AM going to bed earlier tonight. It’s been a long day and yesterday was long as well.
I’m getting some pictures ready to share on Monday… so I hope you will enjoy them.
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. HI Gloria,
I’m going to see if Kristoffer can help me do a short video on how to decorate those cupcakes…It’s very easy… stay tuned!
      Love you!

  9. I’ve checked everywhere I know and cannot find the pattern Jane is looking for or one similar anywhere. But I did find on Etsy where a lady from Australia (SewpetitebyFran) uses either that pattern or one similar to make clothes for Little Darlings. If anyone does locate it, I’d love to know so I can get one too.

Your beautiful, dainty cupcakes look like carnations. Imagine them in several colors for a spring theme. It would be like a bouquet. How did you do them like that?

I solved my dolly-buying dilemma. I’m ordering a Lolla from My Meadow. I even have her wig picked out. It’s going to be a long several months. But not near as long as it was waiting for my Little Darlings.

Can’t wait to see what you have to share, and more on Nyssa’s dress.

    1. HI Barbara,
Joy and Shara solved the puzzle of the dress pattern for Jane. I have a picture listed below…

Well, congratulations on ordering a Lolla doll. She will be so much fun. My Bailey is supposed to possibly be here next month. I hope so… Of course, I ordered a blank doll, so I’ll have to give her a faceup before I can use her… Oh well…

  10. Thank you Shara for your reply. The closest I can find is “Little Miss Revlon 4826” which is available on eBay. Unfortunately eBay won’t let me purchase currently because I don’t live in the same country, l don’t know what that’s about.
Hope your little darling (grandson) is here soon

  11. Your cupcakes are beautiful! Hope the shower was fun!
That is a really cute LD pattern…piping…my favorite look.
I’m sure the little blue floral dress will be darling.
Are you getting more snow? We are having a true blizzard!

    1. HI Kathie,
The baby shower was HUGE… I am so tired as I left the baby shower at 3:30 and went to the birthday party. We just got home…I’m going to bed early tonight.
I posted a picture and Joy’s email below if you wanted to check it out.
I saw on TV that you were having a blizzard! I hope you stay safe.
      Thanks, Jeanne

  12. I love those blue cupcakes! They are so pretty. I hope the chopsticks held them in place until you were able to get them unpacked. I will be interested to see what the Little Darling pattern might be. It’s really cute.

    1. HI Carolyn,
Thanks for your compliments on the cupcakes… The chopsticks worked as they stayed in place!
The information from Joy and Shara, my Super Sleuth’s for this week, is below, along with a picture of the dresses made by Carol Pringle.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  13. HI Everyone,
I’m going to do a group response and try to get to bed a little earlier tonight. I’ve had a busy day and yesterday was busy, but in my kitchen.
Several people asked about my buttercream frosting recipe and how I did my cupcakes… they are super simple… maybe I can get Kristoffer to help me make a short video of how I did it and give you the buttercream frosting recipe too. Thanks for your kind compliments on them. I love cake decorating, but I’ve never taken a class on it. I would probably enjoy it.

I wanted to let you know “Super Sleuth Joy” found the answer for Jane… This is what I found in my email from Joy when I got home from the birthday party…

“Well, I was able to confirm that Shara, I believe it was her, was right. It was a Carol Pringle design. I talked to Carol and she said that she was the one that made the cute dresses I was talking about on the Meadow facebook as well as these that Meadow took to various shows. Very cute. I’m sure it is her own pattern. I didn’t want to be too nosy.
But, the retro McCalls for Betsy 4334 will work if tweaked, I think. I’m sure I have it somewhere.
    Joy :)”

    Carol's doll dresses

Thanks so much Joy! I knew someone would have it. I’ll try and attach the picture too…in just a minute…
    Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Thank you all you super sleuths, especially Joy. I can stop leafing through Sew Beautiful and Creative Needle in the storage sheds.
      Time to start drafting.

    1. Thanks so much Joy,
I just now saw your comment!
I thought they looked pretty too and tasted yummy!
      Thanks again,
      Blessings, Jeanne
