Twas the Night Before Christmas… the “dolly” version

Twas the night before Christmas, in the room where I sew

No dollies were stirring, put to bed long ago

Their bodies were naked but some had on shoes

They dreamed for new dresses and hoped for good news

As they lay together all snug in their beds

They thought of new fabrics and hoped for new “threads!”

With me in my pj’s and my hub’s in his too

We hoped for some sleep since the wrapping was through

When out in the sewing room we heard such a clatter

We both sprang from bed to see what was the matter

Away through the kitchen we flew like a flash

Around the sharp corner we both nearly crashed

The moon, it was shining in the window so bright

It made the dolls pretty and was such a sight

When, what to our wondering eyes we beheld

The dolls all together, it made our hearts swell

Somehow they all had moved into ONE bed

They were sleeping like babies, covers pulled to their heads

We came a bit closer and watched as they slept

Then smiled at each other and then out we crept

They wanted to be close to each other we guessed

How wonderful, how sweet… we are truly blessed

Sewing for your dolls really gives me such joy

I’m ready to start the new year.. Yep… Oh Boy!

I hope you’ll be watching for what I make first

I’m full of ideas and about ready to burst

Tomorrow is Christmas and I wish you much love

Remember the best love comes from above!!

Thank you for all of your kindness this year

Everyone is a friend and each one is dear

May God richly bless you this coming new year

I hope it is filled with peace and much cheer

Merry Christmas Everyone!
Blessings, Jeanne

Lovely! Thanks Jeanne, and a very merry and blessed Christmas to you and yours, and to all our dolly friends, too!

  2. How very original and cute, Jeanne! Would have loved to see those dollies all nestled together in the one bed!!
We are now down to the wire with Christmas preparations, and I’ll be making the final touches today, looking for my platters and bowls that are hiding somewhere for tomorrow’s dinner, going through the house one more time vacuuming up all those evasive pieces of glitter that seem to come out of nowhere, making my pasta salad and Merry Cheesecakes, fixing the cookie platter up, making sure I haven’t forgotten to wrap anything, and taking the time to thank God for giving us his precious Son!
Merry Christmas everyone and you, dear Jeanne!

  3. Love your sweet poem. Hope you enjoy a wonderful Christmas with family and friends.
    Merry Christmas to all.

  4. I enjoyed the cute poem! I have been absent from blog reading for a few weeks now. I’ve just been too busy with holiday prep and all the social commitments that come this time of year. I scrolled through the last few posts, and I really liked seeing how your sister decorates her house—there are lots of neat little displays in every corner. Thanks for sharing it. I wish you and your family and all your blog readers a blessed Christmas season.

  5. Love that version !! Same at our house too:)
Merry Christmas Jeannie and George and a very Happy New Year!
I’m like you… can’t wait to see what I’m making in 2019.. Sienna Wiggs and Meadow Giggis will soon be arriving in my sewing room.. we are excited to make room for new kids on our block!

    1. I love your comment about seeing what you will be making in 2019. I feel like that too. Got lots of raw materials, just need to get the creative juices flowing and carve out the time. I saw the dolls all putting their heads together the other day. I’m afraid to see what they’ve come up with for me to do. Scary! Congratulations on your new family members. Enjoy!

  6. Jeanne.. love the poem! So true at our house as well:)
We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of Twins.. Sienna Wiggs And Meadow Giggis will be here right after the new year..lots of sewing buzzing happening:)
Wishing you and George a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
    Many blessings for 2019!

    Much love ❤️

  7. Wonderful poem!!! I’m sure it will be the same here, except the naked part, my dolly children are all dressed because even as child, I never had a naked doll, unlike my granddaughter who can’t seem to keep the clothes on hers. We will spend our afternoon and evening at church today. Two services and we are singing in the choir at both. Our youngest son and his family will be joining us at the later service. They usually go to the early one but they are celebrating Christmas with her family this afternoon. Our oldest son will join them. He usually waits to see which service they are going to so he can sit with them. I am anxiously awaiting seeing what new frocks you create in the New Year. As I am hoping that I will get more sewing time in 2019. Hope you and your family and all the members of your blog have a very Blessed Christmas and a Spiritually Prosperous New Year.

    1. Dear Barbara, hello. I keep all of my dolls dressed also, even as a child I did. I am afraid they will be “cold” (laugh). I am always cold so I guess I am projecting that onto them. Don’t you just hate a fussy dolly mama (chuckle)?

  8. Dear Jeanne, now you can add “poet” to your long list of accomplishments (smile). What cute poem.
I look forward, with all of the other members of the blog family, to seeing what wonderful ensembles you will create for dolls in the new year.
May God bless your hands and heart.
    I wish all a doll-lightful Christmas!

  9. Dear Jeanne,
I just love your sweet little poem. It made me smile. I am certainly looking forward to seeing another year of your wonderful creations and interacting with you and all the other lovely ladies.
Wishing everyone a blessed Christmas as we celebrate the birth of Jesus.

  10. You are so gifted in so many ways. Hope you have an absolutely fabulous Christmas filled with peace, rest, joy, rest, love, and don’t forget the “rest”. Love you both and Merry Christmas.

  11. Thank you EVERYONE! I am just now sitting down at my computer for the first time today… unfortunately it’s a few minutes till midnight… and I just can’t answer your comments this late. Thanks for the comments on my poem.. It was quite fun thinking it up last night. Dr. Seuss really got a hold of me in the “poetry” department. I love his style and copy it almost every time I write a poem. I know he didn’t write the original but he could have…

I am so blessed by all of you and hope you have a wonderful Christmas tomorrow… actually in just a few minutes it will be Christmas day… Your friendships and love to me and my family is not taken lightly! I cherish each and every one of you!

May the Lord bless you this next new year!
    Blessings, Jeanne

  12. Have a merry and blessed Christmas, everyone!
Barbara’s comment about her granddaughter reminded me of a story my friend Ricky used to tell about one of her early Christmases, when she received a doll that came with a diaper and a blanket. She instantly named the doll Baby Jesus and was perfectly happy. Her aunts were not. They quickly made the doll a pretty, very girlish wardrobe and she was re-named to their satisfaction. Clothes make the girl, I guess.
Thanks for the cute poem, Jeanne. It’s starting my Christmas happily.
I nearly forgot — Pixie Faire is having a 12 days of Christmas sale and celebration featuring different patterns each day. If you’re not on their mailing list and would like to be, go to Pixiefaire.com

  13. You really touched me with your poem because as a Christmas baby my parents were given a beautifully illustrated “Night before Christmas” and it’s always been my favorite. There is also a choral version that is a wonderful way to enjoy the story. Thanks for your Dolly version … I can just picture those little dollies all snuggled together.
Enjoy Christmas with your family and thanks for all the fun you share all year.
    Hugs
