Before I share today’s post I wanted to share something I left out a few days ago… Remember this little child’s fainting couch I showed when I went to the Antique store? This one?
Well, I had a reason for sharing it, but couldn’t find a certain email on my computer when I showed it. When I shared Navi’s little pink couch… this one…
…Susette wanted to find one for her dolls, but didn’t see one at Ross’s, so she turned to Ebay and found one… this bright pink one…
She decided it would be perfect for Ellowyne! But this was the email I couldn’t find……. until I looked on my phone….. and there it was… so here is the rest of the story! (Sorry Susette!)
So I emailed Susette back and told her it was probably the couch Ellowyne was using at her psychiatrists office… Ellowyne is QUITE the drama queen and everything is always in an uproar in her life… So Susette sent another shot of Ellowyne a little more dramatic!
But my favorite was this one…
…because of what Susette added to the picture…Ellowyne was telling her psychiatrist “I’ve been adopted by a crazy woman who expects too much of me, and she won’t sew more new clothes for me or won’t find me a boyfriend or even find me a speaking part in a movie! Ohhhhh!” as she fell back on the couch!
That is a perfect example of Ellowyne’s life…dramatic all the time!
Soooo…now that I’ve found that “lost” email and those pictures… let’s move on to today’s post…
Do you make New Year’s Resolutions? I think mine are always too vague… lose weight, get organized, make better meals, eat less sugar, be more kind, clean my house better, sew for 4 hours every day, etc. Ever have one of those on your list?
Well, this is going to be a Surprise GIVEAWAY… well, except for the part where the title gives it away… But to enter the GIVEAWAY all you have to do is tell a resolution you’d like to make in the comments below or email them to me…and I’ll add your name to the drawing…
You must get your comments or email to me by midnight tonight (Monday) Central Time zone. I’ll draw a name out and post it on January 1st! Then you can see what you’ve won! :o)
I promise we won’t check up on the winner or anyone else for that matter and see how you are doing on your resolution… it’s just something fun…for the New Year!
I have REALLY enjoyed being with my brother and his wife and my sisters and their hubby’s. A LOT!!!
See you next year! (Sorry I had to!)
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh, my, Suzette’s Ellowyne really IS quite the drama queen!! Are they All like that?!
Hm, resolutions….I don’t usually Make resolutions any more, but I guess a good one for me would be to sort through ALL the many photos I have, in boxes and bags and drawers, and here and there and everywhere, weed out the duplicates (either pitching or giving away), and then start on albums. It will be 20 years in February since I went to Africa on a short-term mission trip with my church, and my photos and other memorabilia Still are not in an album!
Hi Charlotte,
There are probably hundreds of different painted Ellowyne dolls…each one having a little poem written just for her…if you type in Ellowyne on Ebay, you can see the different dolls. They are all very pretty and its easy to see why they are very popular…
Oh yes….the photos….I forgot to add that one to my list.
Thanks Charlotte
Blessings, Jeanne
Really darling pictures of Ellowyne, Jeanne……….and Susette! I do believe that is why I tend to only get dolls aged 10 and under, much less drama!
Resolutions, gosh, I sure do have some, and they aren’t anything exciting, you know, the usual ones, lose weight, organize my laundry room, organize my closets, drawers, etc., exercise more, knees willing! But I will say that I want to really organize my doll clothes in a way that I can FIND what I am looking for!
I just ordered 3 batches of pretty AG hangers, the original ones with the heart in the center, and will be hanging Felicity and Cecile’s clothes on them in a more orderly fashion. It will be huge undertaking, since I have so many outfits and accessories. I do have 7 other dolls that have clothes too, so theirs will also be re-organized! But I am looking forward to doing that and getting “reacquainted” with what I do have!
First, I need to put all the Christmas decorations away, and weed through those things, but I will enjoy them one more week—-at least!!
Happy New Year everyone!!
Hi Linda,
Yes, I think I will start with getting my Christmas things put away. I was keeping my tree up until we had momma’s birthday cake for t my jouse… everyone is leaving tomorrow so I think I’ll start packing up my things for next year.
You’ll have to take some pictures of the process…you know we’d love to see what you come up with!!!
Thanks Linda
Blessings, Jeanne
Monthly: mend or sew something new, try a new recipe, volunteer. Re-join martial arts. Clean out my clutter rooms and the garages (not monthly). I’m tackling the cleaning out 1 room at a time, starting with the den/computer room. I want to get rid of enough that I can leave my sewing table up full time.
Good for you, Christal,
I wish you success on your cleaning and sorting out.
Don’t you just love getting things in order???
Let us know how things work out…we can all take inspiration from you!!
Blessings, Jeanne
My resolution would be to clean and organize my sewing room. I moved a year ago and can”t seem to get organized or finush projects.
Hi Norma,
I am planning to do some more weeding out and organizing in my sewing room too. Nothing like starting off he new year in a clean room!!!
Thanks Norma!
Blessings, Jeanne
Love Susette’s couch. Such a delightful pink and perfect for Ellowyne. The way Ellowyne is staged certainly shows her attitude. Great work. Maybe she will make a few resolutions too, like be happy and think of others once in awhile, but who knows? Her dress and matching shoes are lovely. Did you make the dress Susette? My Ellowyne is not happy at all about her treatment around here and is now pointing out how nice she too could look if she had a new outfit. Oh those opinionated girls.
While I’m thinking of Susette, I will mention that I was finally able to get the first shingles and hopefully final pneumonia vaccinations a few days ago. You can have them both at once, but the nurse advised against it. She said I might be in bed for a couple of days. But, I had planned on both so had both and have not been sick at all. Just a couple of sore arms. Thanks Susette for the reminder awhile back to get both of those.
The resolutions around here mimic everyone’s above so far. So, guess I will have to just have one that must be accomplished in the next two days. Clear space in all rooms so the heater vents can be reached to be taped shut for the big heating system leak test on Wednesday. Might sound like nothing to others, but here a major chore. Where ever should all of those doll boxes be stashed? I think I may need a special storage unit just for them. 🙂
Happy to hear the family visits were enjoyable and wish your mom a belated Happy Birthday.
We’re not doing much this evening. Still cleaning up from the latest plumbing fiasco. Water all over the kitchen. But, handy other person was able to fix it with help from his assistant, Mrs. Clean Up the Gooky Mess. 🙂
A very Merry New Year to all!
Hi Joy,
Yes, Ellowyne is certainly the biggest drama queen I know!!! That picture of her on the couch is perfect…really perfect!!
We are heading out to a pizza place here in town for one last get together before everyone leaves in the morning…
I put some of my smaller doll boxes in little bit larger boxes and that helped…
Gotta run…
Blessings,Jeanne
I resolve to finally get serious about rehoming many dolls that have been stored in my sewing room closet and havent seen the light of day in more than 5 years.. it’s time!.. actually it’s way past time. They deserve it and so do I!
Hi Shara,
Oh, those poor closet dollies…I hope they find new homes with loving moms!!
Happy New Year Shara,
Blessings, Jeanne
Loved Susette’s little drama queen on her couch!! Too funny. Perfect poses!!
Has anyone seen the Dish commercial about the couple staying in a room ( I’m assuming it’s a Bed and Breakfast home or family owned hotel) filled with dolls sitting everywhere in their room? The couple are creeped out with all those dolls? It’s oretty funny.
I always set a goal of eating healthier, being organized, including keeping our house organized, but more than anything, being kinder in the world and more aware and appreciative of God’s many blessings.
I just watched that commercial and had a great laugh. No wonder we don’t have guests in the guest room. 🙂

Hi Paula,
I haven’t seen that commercial but I’ll certainly be watching for it now!!!
Have a Happy New Year!
Thanks Paula,
Blessings, Jeanne
I got the impression they were visiting family and one of their mothers was a doll collector. The commercial is hilarious. I love at the end where they say “too many eyes” as she is turning the head of the doll on the end table next to her around so it can’t look. I have to admit some of the dolls were a bit creepy. What’s an added funny thing for me is that is sort of my son’s feelings about my dolls and I only have 20.
Hi Barbara,
Now I can’t wait to see that commercial…I might have to see if I can Google it and find it.
Thanks so much,
Blessings, Jeanne
Just click the link that Joy added after Paula’s comment, Jeanne! It’ll take you right there!
The Jeanne Marie Community will be happy to hear that Ellowyne has a date for tonight, and tomorrow she will be going to the area where the Rose Bowl Floats are parked for viewing for 2-3 days in Pasadena. She’s too sophisticate to stand out on the street for 12 hours holding down a good spot from which to see the parade. I didn’t make the dress but I think the seller did as I didn’t see a label. She sent along other outfits, so I’ll have to find them and see if anything fits her current lifestyle. Thanks to the person who found the couch at Ross for the inspiration. I wonder how much the chaise was in the antique store. I don’t think I could have gotten out of there without it! Check it out for me, Jeanne, if it’s still there the next time you go shopping with George.
I visited with my two young grandchildren for ten days in Texas for Christmas. What a joy the little ones are, six and nine years old, the lights of my life. This blog is certainly a nice light too with so many long-distance friends. Thanks to everyone for their contributions. Glad you got the vaccinations, Joy. Don’t want to lose any of you to things like pneumonia. I was feeling weak for several days after the first shingles shot but was fine after the second one.
Cleaning out closets? How many times have I made that resolution. Maybe the umpteenth time is the charm!
Hi Susette,
We are rushing out for pizza but wanted to tell you that childs fainting couch was $395!
Hi Susette….I’m back again and so glad Ellowyne has a date tonight!!
I’m right there with you on the closets!! I’ll be thinking of you when I’m cleaning out mine…
Happy New Year…
Blessings, Jeanne
Don’t usually do New Year’s resolutions, but I have thought of a few this year. First I really need to carve out more time for sewing and machine embroidery. I let the have-tos control my time and tend to waste time waiting for another have-to I know is coming. They will get done for sure no matter what, so I need to stop feeling guilty if I put them aside for the moment and do something I enjoy. One day a week in my study would take care of all of them so I need to pick a day and stick to that. And then there are the pictures. My daughter asked me the other day if I had pictures of her when she was her son’s age (15 months). Of course I do but it will take some digging because, while they’re all in one place, they are not the least bit organized. Those two resolutions will be enough for awhile.
I thought I was going to have this week to spend in my sewing room making Wellie Wisher clothes for my granddaughter’s birthday, but that will not happen because I will have my granddaughter and grandson two days at the end of the week because their parents are working and they don’t go back to school till Monday. Dad works subcontract so he thought he had off this week. Can’t turn down a chance to work and Nanna planned on taking Jaiden Wellie Wisher shopping at some point anyway so I just moved that up a bit. I’ll let Skyy pick out something for her for her birthday if he wants to, so he can feel a part of it all. The second day we’ll play games until their dad picks them up.
Now I know why I don’t have an Ellowyne. Too high maintenance. One thing I love about sewing for my dollies is that they always like what I make and never complain. They have their style and color choices, but they never say I don’t like the fit, etc., after I’m done. I’m afraid Ellowyne would not be that forgiving. I love the sofa and the fainting couch. I found a wonderful baby grand piano that works for my Tiny Betsy because her knees bend, and my one Heartstring doll plays the harp because I can sit her on a stool and her legs go on both sides of the harp and it actually looks natural, but I haven’t thought much about doing anything else. A new resolution maybe?
Hubby and I are going to dinner tonight with our son, daughter-in-law, grandkids and our daughter-in-law’s brother, wife and two children. Going early and getting off the roads as quick as possible. Tomorrow our youngest son and his family and our oldest son will be here for our annual fondue. We started this one year when we got a fondue pot for Christmas and we’ve done it nearly every year since. Long time. Will be ready for a rest after that but won’t be happening. Maybe next week.
Happy New Year to everyone!
Hi Barbara,
I hope we ALL find more time to sew and play with our dolls this next year…
I’d like to get my pictures all organized too…I have tubs of them and even negatives too.
I hope your dinner with your hubby and family is fun tonight. We went out for pizza with my mom and sisters and hubbies and now we’re back at my mom’s waiting for new year to ring in!!
Happy New Year!
Blessings, Jeanne
A resolution is really a promise to yourself. Now that I’m off the medicine that was making my life bleak and discouraging, I’m going to promise myself that I get to use my beautiful cookbook collection way more often. That’s a resolution that will make me happier and healthier — what could be better?
Hi Marilyn,
Good for you at being off the icky medicine and let us know if you find anything really great in your cookbooks….low calorie… of course!!! :o(
Happy New Year,
Blessings, Jeanne
Dear Jeanne, I love the commercial! I was focusing on how the dolls were displayed. I just found a beautiful display case (curio cabinet) from a retail store in the next town over. It was on Craigslist! It will delivered it in about a week. Yeaaaa!
Ellowyne is too funny. I love the couch.
Now for my resolution: I resolve to finish the writing project that has been stalled for a long time. I need to at least finish the book proposal by the Summer. There I said it out loud. Now I really have to do it!
Happy New Year to you Jeanne and to your family and to the blog family! Here’s to a wonderful 2019!
Hi Dorothy,
I have GOT to see that commercial…I must be the only one who hasn’t seen it!!
Congratulations on finding your new cabinet…send pictures!!!
Now get on that book work right away!!! We’ll be checking up on you!
Happy New Year !
Blessings, Jeanne
My number one goal for 2019 is to spend more time with my 6 children remaining at home just doing fun things with them. I also want to communicate more often with my 2 grown children who live across the country from us. My number two goal is to declutter a huge pile of stuff I have in my family room area. My number three goal is to sew more, especially for my dolls.
Hi Dena,
Good for you on wanting to spend time with your kids…you can’t go wrong with that one!!!
I hope you get your pile uncovered and put away…then you can find time to sew for your dolls! What could be better?
Happy New Year!!!
Blessings, Jeanne
Thanks, Susette for a good laugh. your Ellowyne does look like she is quite the drama queen. Apart from seeing Jeanne’s doll when she sewed for her I wasn’t familiar with her. I guess the “drama” part is built into her personality by the creator.
As far as resolutions go- I want to spend more time growing closer to the Lord and hopefully, finally getting to sew/create some clothing etc for my dolls.
Glad to hear you have enjoyed time with your family and I wish everyone a Happy New Year.
HI Laura,
Yes, the drama part is built into her personality by Robert Tonner. They are beautiful dolls and pose wonderfully so they are fun to have model clothes because they don’t just stand there!
Excellent resolutions… mine too! We can encourage each other this year!
I’m back home tonight and sad to see them leave in the morning but it was fun while it lasted! My family is the absolute most fun to be around. We sat around tonight and last night telling stories! I loved it!
Happy New Year to you Laura,
Blessings, Jeanne
Happy new year All.
One of my Ellowyne dolls was laying about languidly, one hand on brow, one drooping down. Our (horrible) ginger cat caught and chewed it! Drama worthy enough I think.
Now she wears gloves, not fingerless ones, because she has mangled fingers.
Resolutions….
I will not Google Trump, Putin or Brexit with my first cup of tea. A hard habit to break.
I will not buy fabric/ lace/ doll wigs without checking the postage. A bargain is not a bargain when postage is more than the item….
I shall try to declutter especially dollmaking stuff. (Our son is staying
currently and taking ‘creepy’ photo’s, to share!
Let’s hope 2019 brings many good things, especially to those in need.
Hi Jane,
Oh so sorry on Ellowyne’s poor hand accident…I guess better get hand than her face…gloves were a good fix!!
It’s been fun reading everyone’s resolutions…
We got some really good ones…
I hope you are better at not buying fabric than I am…I’ve already bought my fair share for the new year…
Happy New Year,
Blessings, Jeanne
I forgot to thank you Jeanne for your special blog.
It’s refrigerator pickling time in this part of the world. Everyone loves them.
My blue oval roaster makes the best roast chicken ever.
It’s 1530hrs here, new years day.
Good health and take care.
Thank you so much Jane,
It’s so good to hear from you!!! I’m so glad to have you as one of my readers!!!
Happy New Years Day already!!!
Blessings, Jeanne
The commercial was very funny. Thanks, Joy, for sharing the link to that. In the beginning, one of them says they ‘love coming to Gram-Grams, but’…LOL.
As for Ellowyne, I have a few, and according to Tonner’s stories, Amber is the drama queen, while Ell is the shy one. Prudence is Ell’s best friend.
I don’t make resolutions anymore, but I do hope to get rid of a pile of clutter that’s been making me crazy. 🙂
Hope everyone has a magical New Year!!
Hugs,
Ali
Oh Ali,
I’m so glad you mentioned that Joy had posted the link to the commercial….I missed that. But I’ll look at it as soon as I get a chance…
I love looking st the Ellowyne dolls on Ebay from time to time. They all are such pretty dolls!
I hope you have a very happy new year!!!
Blessings,Jeanne
My New Year’s resolution is to complete all of my sewing projects that I started over the past many years.
I love the drama queen and all of her thoughts!
My resolutions are like so many others – eat more healthily, exercise more, change my attitude about engaging with others ( I do prefer the quietness of being alone), spending more time in Bible reading.
I hope everyone enjoys the beginning of this new year. May God bless you in it.
Happy New Year to everyone…I need to seriously continue downsizing since my husband died and make some new outfits for that lovely drama queen. Been a bit since my dear Ellowyne has had something new! Blessings on all.
