Well, I did it!! I managed to take some pictures of Felicity in her dress with all her other pieces included. You don’t have to use your imagination any more, but can just see how she looks for yourself.
Here are her pantalettes…
…and her slip over them…
Next she slid into her dress…
…tucking her fichu between the bars on her bodice…
She found her round eared cap and slipped it on her head…
Then she grabbed her hat, but couldn’t decide whether to tie it in a bow in the front…
…or behind her neck…
She grabbed her reticule and she was ready to head out…
I’m not sure the Christmas scene works for Felicity… it might be too modern and too brightly colored for this particular dress… what do you think?
Well, there you go… Felicity’s Fall Favorite is Finally Finished! :o)
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Felicity looks wonderful in her new outfit, Jeanne! Everything is so well-coordinated! (I know it’s also well made!)
As to the Christmas backdrop, yes, it’s bright and modern, but I’m wondering if you used the other “corner” (no Christmas tree) and stood her in front of the red stockings, facing the other way, maybe that would work? It’s a little hard to tell, but it kind of looks like the colors are more the lighter tones in that corner, with less of that pinky-looking (to me) red. Might be worth a shot, anyway. Since I can’t see the entire backdrop, it’s a little hard to tell.
Thank you Charlotte,
It’s finished and it’s scheduled to go on Ebay this evening… I had to let a lot of things slide around here today to get it done!
I decided to use some inside pics and I took Felicity outside and took some for the listing… Fortunately the sun wasn’t shining too brightly all the time so I squeezed in a few pretty pictures.
Thanks Charlotte,
Blessings, Jeanne
OH, I loved the little “vignette” of F3elicity getting dressed, Jeanne! I was thinking of that yesterday when you had all the pieces shown together in front of Felicity. Wvweything turned out so well, and I love the beautiful hat and bow!
As far as the background, I think it is a little too busy and the colors are off. The red has a pinkish tone to it that doesn’t work well with her outfit, plus, yes it is too modern. I would prefer something “real” next or behind her, and not a picture of something. What I mean is something like Caroline’s Parlor, which I know you don’t have, plus the color wouldn’t work, but more like that type of thing.
Whatever, the outfit is simply gorgeous!
HI Linda,
If you liked Felicity getting dressed… wait till you see the listing on Ebay… It will come on tonight at 8:40 I think…
I decided to nix the Christmas background and head outside. I captured some pretty shots of Felicity and used them in my listing! Hope you like them!
Thanks Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
Wow, the spellings above!?
I just happened to think that I have seen this background used and it looked so much better with a real tree placed in front of the printed one, and gave the scene more dimension.
I guess I’ll have to get out my Christmas dolly box and see what I can use to give it a little more 3-D look…
Thanks Linda
Beautiful dress and accessories. But I was “startled” after reading the title to see a Christmas scene! Maybe change the title to something like Going To the Christmas Bazaar. Maybe I’m just not ready for Christmas seems it gets here earlier each year. Lol
HI Dorothy,
Don’t worry.. I passed on the whole Christmas theme for now… I took her outside and even show a few leaves in the pictures! You were right… with a title like Fall Favorite is shouldn’t be mixed in with Christmas…
Thanks Dorothy,
Blessings, Jeanne
I think parts of the Christmas scene would work, but not with Felicity wearing the straw hat. Just the mop cap or no cap and a ribbon. What about just an undecorated tree and plain background? Holding an ornament and no hat? I like the hat tied in front to the side the best because it shows off the burgundy ribbon. The photos are great. Shows the outfit very well, but I would add in something with the fall or Christmas themes too. Walking outside on the leaves or with fall colored trees in the background. You know. Doll posed and you laying on your stomach to get the angle from her perspective. Ha Ha! That would give viewers some ideas of how to use the beautiful outfit for their own girls. I agree the dress is way too fancy for collecting eggs.
Now, to the arriving posts. I still receive two most everyday. One is titled Jeanne and one I Dream of Jeanne Marie. One is from the day before and one the correct day. So technically, I receive two of your posts for each subject posted. That may be because awhile back when I wasn’t getting a daily post, I resubscribed. Doesn’t account though for why some aren’t getting the post some days at all. I do have to sign in and type my email everyday, not like in the past when I was recognized and could just hit send. Maybe Sarah will figure it all out on Wednesday.
Been pretty warm here and had very high winds not unlike the time of the fires from last year. It is the one year anniversary of the loss of many lives and over 5000 homes in one night. Everyone is on edge.
HI Joy,
I decided to pass on the Christmas idea for Felicity… now I might use it for Ten Ping or I might wait until November…
We did however go outside and the lighting was just right in most of the pictures… the wind was another thing… but I managed to get some pretty pictures and they will be in the listing on Ebay… which comes on at 8:40 my time tonight.
I’m definitely going to ask Sarah a few things tomorrow and see what she thinks. It bugs me when things don’t work as they should…
Wow… one year already? It truly must be a somber day in your area today… So sorry for all those who lost loved ones and homes…
Blessings, Jeanne
Felicity looks lovely in her new gown. I really, really like that dress pattern!! The round eared cap and fichu are beautiful and so delicate looking. The hat is very sweet. Hats were typically tied behind the head, tied to the side is Civil War.
As for the background… hmmm well, honestly, the background is too modern for Felicity and IMO too busy.
Colonists decorated their homes with fruit pyramids and fruit garlands and the all important kissing ball. If the colonists decorated a Christmas tree ( and I’ve never read that they did) it would have been with natural elements and candles.
I have a piece of greenery and some German Della Robbia fruits that were my grandparents that I hope to fashion into a garland for Felicity to hold this Christmas.
The straw hat wouldn’t be for Christmas either. Are you counting on this as a Christmas dress? I would have Felicity going to tea or perhaps a dancing lesson… Yes, that’s it, a dancing lesson to prepare for her first Christmas ball.
Not meaning to be critical of your backdrop… the dress is stunning and should be set off in the best light is all.
Jeanne, I think this is the most beautiful dress you’ve done this past year! I was glad to read you took some photos outside, as I don’t feel the inside light showed up the rouching very well. Glad to know the Christmas scene was temporarily scrapped, as well. I’m not ready for Christmas until after Thanksgiving, LOL, so putting it before even Halloween is indeed too early. It didn’t show off that gorgeous dress well, either. I’m sure the listing looks great with the changes! Best of luck on the auction!! Hugs, Ali
