A Crinoline is born….

You should be receiving this post on Tuesday… I thought I’d post that so you will know if you are receiving it on the right day… (IF YOU ARE RECEIVING IT CORRECTLY, could you please just leave me a quick comment below saying it’s okay for you? That will help me know if everyone is still having problems or if it’s just a few.)

I’ve been having some problems getting my posts to show up on the correct days so my webmaster has asked if you would… please sign up again on the form at the right side of my blog post…even if you are already a subscriber. There were 2 conflicting programs emailing out my posts to my subscribers. If you sign up again, and you are already a reader, it should just say something about you already being a subscriber. If you are new, it will say Thank you…

There were still some kinks in the process, but I’m hoping each day it gets a little better. I’m really sorry for the inconvenience but that’s sometimes what happens with technology.

Also, you’ll have to start signing in with your email address and name before you leave a comment..sorry about that…

Okay, now to today’s post… It’s about a crinoline. I finished the one for Rebecca’s brown plaid Civil War dress.

It has a boned bottom edge so the dresses you wear over it will stand out very nicely.

It’s made from a slightly off white gauze embroidered fabric I had. My pictures make it look kind of thick, but in reality, it’s very thin and soft to the touch… very soft!! :o)

There is a piece of elastic run through the waistband with ties at the end, making this fit around any dolls waist…

Here are a few more pictures of it holding out the dress.

Well, everyone, we are on the home stretch as far as this dress goes. I found a picture of a bonnet/hat that I’m going to try and copy. I think it will be very sweet with this dress set.

See you soon,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Very nice, Jeanne! This dress is getting better and better each day! Acute little bonnet would be just the thing!

Now for some bad news. I have not received your blog in my email since August 31st, like I usually do. I have that one kept in my inbox, and go to that, and find that there is a new blog in the list of blog titles. This is after I had been received two a day! So I will do like you said and ask to have a blog sent to my email.

So I am reading your blog on Tuesday like I should be, but it didn’t come to me in my mail, if that helps.

    1. Just as I finished this, I went back to my email, and found that yesterday’s blog came while I was writing the above! Getting better!

      1. HI Linda,
There has to be a solution to all this and an end in sight…I wish it was a “sewing” problem….I might have a clue how to fix that. A techy problem? Not so much…

Thanks for the compliments on Rebecca dress set so far…I’m hoping to get something for her hair finished today….
        Thank you Linda,
        Blessings, Jeanne

  2. I haven’t received an email lately (last week sometime). I tried to sign up and it said I was already registered.
Thanks for the discussion of tje beautiful underpinnings.
Hope you have a good day!
    Rake care —

    1. Thank you Charlotte,
I’m sorry all this post talk is affecting you too. We’ll all be glad when it’s figured out…
Thanks for your patience till it gets solved.
YOU have a great day too!
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. Just an update — I did receive yesterday’s post later this morning.
I don’t know if that means anything, but I thought I would let you know.
        Take care —

  3. I tried reaching the blog at just after midnight, as I used to. I could get here, but today’s blog was not up. It is now 7:12 and the blog entry is available, as you can tell since I’m writing in response.

This is such a nice set — dress, optional sleeves, hoop skirt, pantalettes, probable bonnet — lace mitts? Small embroidered bag? It’s taking awhile, but it’s worth it, and there are many and good reasons why it’s taking awhile. Progress on the outfit means that your life is starting to move more smoothly. Congratulations! Also, tech problems are better than medical problems any day.

    1. HI Marilyn,
You’re not kidding when you say this one is taking a while…too long, I’d say, but eventually it will be done and I can move onto other dresses.
My goodness this computer stuff has certainly been affecting everything…I can’t sell things on here…well, I could but it really wouldn’t be fair. No giveaways until it’s all solved…
I suppose I could put things on Ebay and then just make sure I mention them in each post that I write, hoping everyone would see it.

Oh well, at least, it’s still up and running…sort of the right way…it would be awful if my posts weren’t being published at all…
Somehow in the midst of all this, I am at a record high number of subscribers…
I really don’t want to lose them.
      Thanks Marilyn,
I better get in my sewing room.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. I was able to get this post by going to your blog- I need to look at Monday’s post to see what you need us to do.

The dress and under clothing look wonderful. The dress fluffs our perfectly with the full skirted slip. It looks perfect as only you can do!!

    1. Thanks Paula,
I know you feel my pain as I know you’ve had some major computer issues in the past. I hope these issues get solved soon!! I bet everyone does.
Thank you for your kind words about the dress…now to get it all finished up… :o)
      Thank you, Paula,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. I received this email post today, I always need to open them up by touching on the blue highlight because the print is so small, had to start doing that months ago. Then saw four other posts that never showed up in my email. (Loved them) I tried to subscribe and got the already subscribed message. Thanks for all your patience.

    1. HI Dorothy,
Thank YOU for all YOUR patience! I can only hope things get back to normal very soon.
I’m glad you learned how to click the blue title and get to my official website…you can’t leave comments if you read it in the other format..
      Blessings. Jeanne

  6. I did not receive this post today. 🙁 I only happened to find it when I tried to resubscribe and could not, as it said I was already subscribed, I tried update profile. When I checked that I then hit return to blog and this page came up. Wonder if I will receive this in tomorrow’s email? Know this is a problem for you, us too, but I’m sure you will figure it all out soon. I guess I’ll just have to check an old post everyday to see if there is anything new. That is if I can remember.
The dress is lovely. When you see it with the crinoline, all of that hem redo makes a lot of sense. I wonder how you will do Rebecca’s hair? And maybe a ribbon or hat to match?
Hope your week is filled with lots of time to play.

    1. HI Joy,
I WISH it was a problem I could figure out… truth is I’m in the dark on this one! I don’t have a clue how to solve it. So I have to depend on someone else.
I’ve been “distracted” by things this week and very early Friday morning, we have to go back to St. Louis for a follow up appointment. We are going to spend a couple of nights with Gloria (George’s sister in law) in Alton. I already looked it up and there are 3 fabric stores in town, so maybe, just maybe I can visit a few…
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Dear Jeanne, hello. I go directly to your blog. It is bookmarked on my desktop. It does not go through my email. I don’t have any trouble finding it.
The petticoat is beautiful, light and delicate! Any dolly would be happy to wear it.

    1. Thanks Dorothy,
Maybe some others on here will see how you get to my blog and do the same…

Now to get on to her head piece…
      Thanks Dorothy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Hi Jeanne
So sorry that you are having such problems. It’s frustrating enough when it just your own personal computer but when you are trying to run a blog it must be like a nightmare. Just remember like everyone has said…we understand you can’t help it if there are grembles. I have not reliably received post through email for quite some time. I have a couple email accounts so I even tried inputting a different one with no success. But it is not a problem as I just type in your name and presto there you are, but there have been a couple times where the current post isn’t there and I kinda get wind of it the next day when people are referring to something I didn’t see then I go back and read it.

Love the crinoline and pantalettes, the fabrics look so soft and dainty. Can’t wait to see what kind of bonnet you come up with. This is going to be such a lovely ensemble.

    1. HI Leigh,
Everyone has been incredibly kind and patient with all this going on. I guess they realize it’s not my fault and I didn’t want this to happen.

      Thanks for understanding. Leigh.
I’m just looking forward to the day when all this is a distant memory.

I hope to work on Rebecca bonnet this afternoon… well, it’s already afternoon… maybe this evening… :o)
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Glad to see you back sewing like crazy! When will we see that Doll #62 you spoke of??? : )

I did not get the blog in my email again sadly. I’m also not getting any email notice of comments that are added after I send mine and no checkbox below to ask for that. I guess Chimp doesn’t give that option? When I got here from the old blog email link, I went to the Subscribe box again and once again (3rd time) entered my email and name. It says I am already subbed, so this time I pressed on update. Interestingly, it did not email me for verification either! Maybe you can have Sarah try disabling Chimp and re-enabling the WordPress email subscriptions? At least most of us received them through WordPress. Maybe Chimp and WordPress just don’t work well together? It’s another idea, anyway. : (

    1. HI Ali,
We’ll doll #62 has arrived, but I promised myself she would have to stay in the background until I got Rebecca dress finished. Let me just tell you she is a cutie!!

This whole post/email/wordpress/Mail chimp thing really is giving me fits…sometimes I wonder if I had left it alone, would it have worked out the kinks on its own….I don’t think so, so we move on. I did see a link for Technical Support for Mail chimp but it was a monthly fee program but it might be time to give them a call anyway…
      Thanks Ali,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. Hi Jeanne I received yesterdays post today. Sad to say nothing for today. I amgoing to your blog to see your posts. I love the crinoline! Do you have a trick for putting the boning in the casing and sewing it together? I have done it, but I really struggled with it. Can’t wait to see the bonnet! Carole

    1. HI Carole,
I just received some more information from Sarah this evening, but it’s one of those things you have to wait until the next day to see if what you did today worked… Hopefully soon it will all be in the past, and things will be back to normal.
I do my crinolines a little differently than how you’d normally do them.. I might wait and do a post on them when things get solved. If you get this comment, the bonnet is going to be shown on Wednesday’s post. I just finished writing it.
      Thanks Carole,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  11. Hi Jeanne,
I received yesterday’s post about the pantalettes today (9/4). It says “Post from Jeanne Marie for 9/4/18 as the title, but it’s from 9/3, because underneath the title “Pantalettes and pretty Words” it says September 3, 2018 12:45 am. So it’s a day late, but it did come directly to my inbox instead of Promotions, so that’s better.
Love Rebecca’s crinoline. Just curious as to what is the boning you use? The bonnet to be sounds exciting… love those Civil War bonnets!!
Can’t wait to see doll #62. I’m trying to decide if she’s an AG or something else.

    1. HI Laura,
Well, maybe eventually this will all be solved. I can’t wait!!!!
I’m glad you liked Rebecca’s crinoline. I use a polyester or nylon boning… I’m not in my sewing room right now, but it’s a stiff white boning with little holes in it.
I might do a tutorial on how I make my crinolines when my posts get all straightened out… Carole asked about them too.
      Thanks Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne
