This will be short as it’s after midnight
I thought I would share it and bring some delight
I drafted a pattern to make it my own
The shoulders are covered so no seams are shown
The bodice is started and it should go fast
I’ll soon have it listed… At Last… At Last!!
The pins, they are holding the ruffle in place
I hope you like how it frame’s Rebecca’s face
She will be pretty… I’m certain she will
She never disappoints, just gives us a thrill
I hope you can see past the pins and the threads
But now I must go… and get in my bed
…Just wanted to show you what can happen when I get in my sewing room! I’ve missed it… hope you enjoy the little bit I was able to show you!
See you when I can,
Blessings, Jeanne
Hooray! Hooray!! So good to see that you have gotten to spend some quality time with your sewing machine once again, Jeanne!!
I think this is going to turn out to be a very pretty dress–and of course, Rebecca always models your creations so beautifully!
I’m so happy to see that you are once again sewing, Jeanne! I’m sure you are happy too, and it’s good to get the sewing genes going again! Oh yes, this will be a darling dress! I love the pretty vintage lace, and can’t wait to see how it comes together. I like how the neckline doesn’t show the separation of the body fabric and arms, yet looks summery.
This will be an exciting week for all of us, I’m sure, and Rebecca is probably a pretty happy doll!
Oh, Rebecca looks so beautiful in what you’ve created so far. You have such a gift of “decorating” dolls and making them look oh so very pretty, cute, elegant, simply lovely. I’m so happy you’ve had a chance to get back to the sewing room, Jeanne. Step by step.
Blessings.
Reebecca looks delighted to be modeling, and I’m sure everyone who lives in the sewing room is glad to have you back. George must be feeling better. This week is going to be a hot one here — our weather has been echoing yours, so you may be in the same situation. Having a lovely summer dress to watch is going to be so nice. You are right about the shoulder seams — I know people are ignoring them, but I much prefer them not to show.
Stay cool, get a little extra rest, enjoy the progress you and George are making, and all of us will be waiting to see if you can make progress on the dress today or if you’ll need to be making progress on something else.
How wonderful! I can’t believe not only have you been able to start a new lovely creation but at midnight you can create poetry!! Talent beyond belief. Your fabric choice looks so charming on Rebecca, can’t wait to see the completed gown.
My husband and I took some time and visited Mackinac Island just before the lilac festival. It was so beautiful, I have never seen so many lilacs in one place – it smelled divine even with the horses! If anyone is looking for a unique experience, this is it. I’m sure most know there are no autos on the island. Transportation is walking, biking and horse carriage rides. Beautiful turn of the century homes, lots of hotels, B & B’s etc. Driving up is part of the experience. I’m more familiar with the west side of the state that has several charming towns. Traverse City with wine trails; Charlevoix, Petosky just to name a few. Sorry, didn’t mean to make this a “Michigan Travel Post” and I don’t work for the tourism dept – Ha!
My best to you and George and continued prayers for steady recovery.
Nothing better than a little sewing therapy. Your love for your sewing shows in every stitch. The choice of fabric is just delightful and the vintage lace so beautiful. So happy for the time that you had to create; it helps the mind and heals the soul and blesses the hearts of many.
God bless you, George and your day and all week long. God has brought you all along this journey and He is with you as you walk day by day.
Hooray! Sewing today.
I just finished my first plastic canvas dolly rug. It was very therapeutic and a no brainer. You use small square plastic canvas and embroidery floss. I used a bunch of old floss that I’ve had a long time. It was fun to do.
Looking forward to seeing the new dress and perhaps, some of your shopping finds while your sister was visiting.
The bodice looks lovely! I’m sure the dress will be wonderful.
More importantly, you seem genuinely happy and that is tje most important thing of all.
Looking forward to seeing the whole dress soon.
Have a great day!
Take care —
Love what you’ve done so far on the Civil War dress!! The lace is beautiful and the material is beautiful.
Your poem was so clever. Such a talented lady you are!!
Glad you got some time in your sewing room too.
Oh Joy, please share your doll rug with us! If it’s a no brainer, I would love to have something like that to do.
Omgosh…I swear Rebecca’s expression shows how happy she is to be modeling again! What a sweet look she has. You really got the neckline and ruffle to look perfect. The fabric and lace are a great match. It’s so good those getting back to something normal…even for just a little while. Looking forward to the rest of her dress.
Rebecca looks thrilled to be up to model a dress, and what a pretty dress it is. I love the beginning look of it. I’m sure it really felt nice to walk into your sewing room, pull a doll from the shelf, and get back to creating something lovely. It’s been a long time. The neckline is perfect with the lace and applique. Looking forward to seeing more.
